A great start - ice cold martini

The Grill has been a bucket list spot for years... and it did not disappoint. Two of us dined late midweek, and it was crowded -- and a bit noisy/loud, my only negative about the experience. We started with cocktails and then had the crab cake and pasta à la presse as starters. The crabcake was unique and finished with a hash brown/fried potato topping. It was unique but I do prefer a good old fashioned jumbo lump crab cake. The pasta à la presse was amazing. From the presentation of the meats and other goodies about to the pressed, to the gorgeous press itself... and the pasta was perfectly cooked, carrying the wonderfully intense jus from the press. The bread service is amazing as well - three unique offerings, all done very well - a pretzel roll, Parker house, and a sourdough... plus the best herb butter to complement it. I came for the prime rib, my dining partner had the honey duckling. The prime rib did not disappoint - carved table side with hand shredded horseradish, along with a Dijon and horseradish cream. The toppers were the perfect jus for the meat and an incredible deviled rib bone - real bbq!! We finished with the lemon chiffon which you could not stop eating. Jonathan our server was on point all evening and timed everything well. It's an experience, and their prime rib is my all time favorite now.

The Grill is one of the best restaurants in New York. First off, the space is gorgeous. One of the most elegant dining rooms I've seen, with a beautiful bar. The service is the best of the best. Everything operates efficiently with ease. Nothing feels rushed. If it's in your wheelhouse, do the caviar service. It comes with fresh baby pancakes, hash browns, sour cream, and all the accouterments. It's special. Every dish on the menu is perfection. The pasta press is an absolute MUST. It's one of the best, most layered pasta dishes I've had in my life. Very special. The Dover sole is the best meuniere I've had. For a side, the gnocchi dumplings are incredible. Dessert is mandatory. They're known for their rotating crueler flavors and lemon chiffon cake. I love the baked Alaska. One of the best dining experiences of all time. It's one of those places that makes you truly grateful for the experience - there's no where you'd rather be.

Bathroom decor. Linen towels. Nice touch.

A decadent experience that Major Food Group has made us all accustomed to. Midweek, biz travel solo treat. Needed to go light due to a substantial lunch earlier. Staff made me feel like a VIP, host proudly showed me the pool room and described the rich history of the property. Travis the server and team, all professionals. Knowledgeable and well versed in all ingredients and pairings. Dirty martini, glass of Mata Sauvignon blanc, mint sea bass, the butter dumplings were the night's highlight. Conservatively $170+ all in. I didn't go for the menu's staples due to heavy lunch.

The martini was fabulous. I got the kangaroo. Very strong. One was enough. Then I had the duck, which is not something I would normally get. It was spectacular. Love the spinach and the hashbrowns and the grits. Service was fabulous as well. Joe had the ham which he said was amazing. Definitely not the types of things we would normally order at a steakhouse. definitely a place worth returning to. even though I would love to try their steak, I have a feeling I might order the duck again!!

Absolutely worth it!!! Amazing Prime Rib!

Service was impeccable! They are good at what they do, which is prime rib, but the caviar was absolutely phenomenal. I didn't take a pic, sorry! The best I've ever had! Low lighting making this an intimate and classy experience. My 3rd time here and never disappoints.

Originally the building housed the Seagram's Corporation. What a gorgeous, historic space - high ceiling, yet quiet and elegant for our afternoon meal. Alex, the Henry served us and each lent something different and wonderful to our meal experience. Both were attentive, knowledgable and able to lift a story or two when engaged about the restaurant. They spoke with pride and knowledge. So enjoyable! The Pumpkin Soup was incredibly flavorful. Loved the crunchy pumpkin seed garnish too!My companion's Steak Florentine was declared, BEST EVER! The sides of Broccolini and Grilled mushrooms were simple and wonderful. My Duck was hot, crisp and the flavors popped! Finished with a splendid espresso. What a meal!

This was phenomenal from start to finish. Excellent place to bring clients friends and family. The food is absolutely delicious here

    Honey mustard duck.

I totally would recommend this location. The staff welcomed you with open arms and I felt very wanted. The price point for the meal I felt was appropriate. I had the honey mustard duck! I'm a sucker for duck so it was easy for me to make that decision. I had the crispy hash brown as an appetizer/side. I also tried the screwdriver as a drink, which had a nice twist on a classic drink. It is sweet so beware, but that was OK with me. I did like the staircase, entering the location and the nice clean tables and lines. I never felt that my money was wasted here. This would be a great location for dates, group parties, and even just a great night out with a little bit of money in your pocket. Job well done!

This was probably one of the best meals of my life! When you walk in, the space is clean and classic. No frills but simple elegance. The service is attentive but not overly annoying. All the staff is so knowledgeable. Now onto the important stuff... the food! We started with the pasta appetizer. They literally bring a press to your table to see how they make the broth. It was divine! The chopped salad was simple but perfect. The main event prime rib was everything I had hoped for and loved! They cut it tableside and it was a perfect slice. Not overly fatty. We ended the night with a little flambé baked Alaska bc who doesn't love a little fire! Cannot wait to go back

A NYC standard with a fantastic bar. Lots of corporate cards all around and people watching one another. Not my fave scene as I'm here for great food, cocktails, and wine. While the service intends to deliver a wonderful experience - it comes across as pretentious and falls short in a few areas. My martini was blah and we had to wait for our wine from a sommelier who seemed simply uninterested. The start of the night was the pasta a la presse. It's certainly a nice space and I would stay away from heavily trafficked areas and get a table where you can see the whole dining room. It's lost a bit of its luster for me.

My experience at The Grill was nothing short of amazing from beginning to finish. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, feels like you're dining in a classic restaurant in the 1960s; glamorous. Service immaculate. Food & drinks delicious. I can honestly say The Grill is a true definition of fine and classic dining.

Incredible dinner and steak. Service is top notch and extremely attentive. While they have all the standard steakhouse favorites, they have some twists and really unique dishes that stands out with other steakhouses in NYC. Cannot go wrong here at all. The beef is absolutely out of this world. Had a double cut Chateau Briand, pasta and crab cake for appetizers. The restaurant itself is a vibe. A large bar area with music isolated away from a double floor sitting area.

    Strawberry Charlotte I think?

A truly gorgeous place to step back in time with glamour and class. My friend had just undergone a knee replacement, so while our hosts escorted her via elevator, I climbed the sweeping stairs up to the majestic dining room and bar. Definitely a special occasion destination -- it isn't cheap -- but the food, service, and ambience made it worthwhile. Erin absolutely nailed the wine pairings for the Dover sole and duck we shared. Carly, the GM, made a point of checking in, and the level of hospitality throughout was next-level: bussers clearing and resetting seamlessly, and our server Henry masterfully deboning the sole tableside. Desserts were over the top (in the best way), and by the end of lunch I had certainly overindulged -- all I really needed was a wafer-thin mint. A memorable afternoon all around.

If I make a reservation for 10:45pm (only availability). Will I have time to eat? It says 11pm closed.

Of course. This is a classy restaurant and they will provide service as long as needed. Enjoy!

Do you need a reservation to have a drink at the bar?

No, but I suggest going a bit earlier than dinner service

We've been to NYC a few different times. How formal is this place? Should my husband have a jacket? What about for ladies.

There is not a jacket policy but he might feel a bit out of place without one. As for the ladies, casual chic will get it done.

How does the prime rib pricing work? $62 for the entire slab of meat or just for a slice?

A thick slice. Very tasty though. And you can choose if you want an end piece or Center cut.

Do they have a corkage fee?

Yes, it is $95 per 750ml (std bottle size). No limit on number of bottles.

Do they run out of entrees often? I have a reservation for 8:15 and would very much like to get the prime rib.

Yes, they do run out of the prime rib. Suggestion - you might want to call ahead and ask them to hold one (or more!) available for you. It is beyond great.

    How much is a cocktail?

It's about $15 across the board - cocktails and wines by the glass.

Can you go just for a drink?

Yes, but the bar is first come first served. There are small bites available at the bar as well but not the full menu.
