Since that time the facility changed management & became The Preston of the Park Cities. My mother has been a resident since the place first opened as Harbor Chase. The place is gorgeous and they are far more creative with their food and menus than any other place we initially looked at. Although there has been turnover in staff over the years, the best key players on staff stayed & have become real assets to the place. When Covid hit we were tremendously concerned about how this would be dealt with and how the residents would be protected. Watermark, who is the management company have done a phenomenal job handling the pandemic and keeping residents safe and their families well informed. The staff & residents were fully vaccinated by late January. Finding a great place for a parent, spouse or relative who needs assistance can be a very trying time in everyone's life. You'd be hard pressed to find a better place for them than The Preston of the Park Cities.

Most of the caregivers were wonderful people. The problem with this facility is the administration. Communication is horrible. As a family member it's never clear who to call for what issue. But worse is the significant turnover at the admin level. We went through three different directors of healthcare, three assistants to that role, two directors of memory care, and multiple other administrative position changes. I raised my concerns - we'd have "team meetings", but things would not improve. And just when I thought I had a good go-to point person I'd learn that that person left. I finally moved my mother to another (smaller) facility, and it's been night and day - SO much more attention and better communication. The Tradition also passed along huge rent increases every year. A modest rent increase may be reasonable, but these were huge - well beyond inflation. The whole operation makes the customer feel like just a "number" on a spreadsheet . . . it's all about the profit. They nickel and dimed on little things like a meal to the room, or one more medication beyond a given tier. Just felt heartless. Again, not the care givers themselves, but the management.

How do you go behind someone's back and stick their mother in a fourth floor apartment when she is afraid of heights? Id give this place zero stars if I could. The rehab facility he had been in did not have ESPN and several places we talked to did not get ESPN. So, we decided to give it a try. There have been bumps along the road, especially in the beginning as there is a learning curve for both the patient/family and the staff, but the important thing is that when there's a problem, the staff is very responsive and make every effort to get it resolved. The employees are friendly and helpful. The facility recently obtained walkie talkies and that has greatly improved communications. The Director of Nursing is new, and in a word, she is awesome. Very concerned about patient care and resolving any issues. The administrator is also excellent and very responsive. The maintenance man also deserves praise. He is innovative and quick to get things done. I'm not saying there aren't problems, but if you've had experience with a loved one in a nursing home, you know that things don't go well 100% of the time. The key is that the staff cares and resolves problems.

Checking out on Day 20 was a surprise, as social worker and her assistant had already assumed I would pay $219-$290 for twenty first day, not covered by Medicare. Discharge was chaotic and incomplete. Home Health equipment, including a hospital bed, bedside commode, traveling wheelchair and bath transfer bench NEVER ARRIVED. I bought my own wheelchair and bedside commode myself and chose to sleep on the couch, my only option as I remain non weight bearing and incapable of navigating freely in my home, two weeks after discharge.

This review is for relative newbies like me to the 55 & over crowd. In chatting with our delightful…read moremanager the other day, corporate has been modestly soliciting reviews & I'm all too happy to do so. The most salient aspect of Evergreen is something most people don't even think about; they are a local concern as opposed to national, so not owned by some outside interest. This means hands-down better management, less cost, and sincere attention to the 'Standard of Living' experience. Evergreen values its reputation & you see a conspicuous full case of well-earned awards right there at the front door to prove it. I try to be rather descriptive below, and do so to express how refreshing it was upon moving in to come to a property where the care & concern for the residents is so palpably genuine... To wit: Facility: The grounds are meticulously kept. You see that a lot around town yes, except here it's actually 24-7 two-up clean & tidy. The pool area is quaint and beautifully appointed; on a summer evening for example it's a perfect conversational get-away and no mosquitoes (!)... Typical amenities abound, except here they're always carefully maintained & by golly everything works. First-rate gym equipment, spotless game room w/ pool table, meeting/library rooms, a general group gathering/rec area that also has a clean, fully equipped kitchen. This location also has a secured easy-access parking garage with larger spaces; hence getting in & out of the car is a snap. There's no assigned spaces other than handicaps so you always have a convenient spot every time. Notably, the tow-truck gangs are not allowed to come hunting here so never a worry on that end either. Location: Tucked away in the southwest corner of Farmers Branch, traffic getting to local grocery, retail, and dining is non-existent. Everything necessary for your day to day is a couple miles away or less, and the facility even has a shuttle service for that too. Overall the surrounding area is uniquely safe & peaceful, and Farmers Branch Police are without question the best of all of the Dallas suburbs. There are also miles of walking & riding trails immediately adjacent. Community: Best neighbors ever! Ages run the gamut & are mostly women. Personal get-togethers are constant, open-invitation, and a variety of groups have formed over time for gaming, hang-outs & what-nots... Sponsored holiday events & varietal programs of interest are recurrently orchestrated by management and depending on the topic are geared toward appropriate members of the community accordingly. Residency: Subtle niceties avail themselves once you're getting settled in... You discover there was no skimping on convenience or privacy here. Little things like a plug always right where you need one, abundant pre-installed lighting, a roomy ambience with superior sound insulation to boot. In simple terms, the floor plans were well thought-out and in this price-range are likely unbeatable. On a Personal Note: I moved in here because I could, primarily to address the increasing needs of my mother who had been a resident here past 10 years. Though titled as a senior community, the fact is this place is a hidden gem. I've known many of the residents here for years, as well as the management over time. The service here is unmatched. The cost/value ratio also unbeatable. Most apartment communities are of course geared toward a different crowd; so getting away from certain annoyances of modern communal living, (take your pick) has been a real treat. If for yourself or a loved one you're looking into this category of residence, I fervently endorse the Evergreen brand, and if this specific location is convenient, start here... Note: The pictures available on the net are from initial construction. The landscaping is well developed now and far superior to what the pictures show...

Please review before entrusting your loved one to this facility. If you cherish your loved one,…read morereconsider placing them here. Do not be swayed by superficial pleasantries and false promises during the facility tour. The stark reality is that they prioritize profit over genuine care for your loved one, viewing them solely as financial assets. The facility employs numerous inadequate caregivers who fail to provide the level of care your loved one deserves (resulting in neglect), despite the substantial fees you pay for their services. You rightfully expect top-notch care! Instances of abuse, theft by caregivers (including money, checks, credit cards, and property), deception, improper medication administration (including dispensing the wrong medications or failing to administer them on time), inadequate personal care (such as lack of supervision, bathing, and feeding), lack of vigilance leading to frequent accidents, caregivers neglecting their duties by sleeping or being lazy, and med techs dozing off are prevalent. Placing your loved one in the dementia unit may accelerate their decline. I strongly advise installing cameras in their room, even if the directors beg you not to, prompting questions about their reluctance. The majority of caregivers exhibit poor performance, displaying indifference, rough handling, and impatience towards residents. While the management feigns concern, offering insincere smiles and empty promises when issues are raised, they seldom take effective action. Despite the appealing exterior, a darker reality lurks within the facility's walls.

I will keep working with the facility , its not easy moving a elderly parent. I am there almost everyday, as a child or relative u have a responsibity to stay on top and do your part. the food is fair most of the time, do not have the steak, , there are always alternatives to the menu , the soup could be improved, its pretty bad, the activities could use a boost, a happier staff would help, they need to become more engaged with residents, care about them, now , some of the residents use the call button like room service and most do not feel well and can be ugly to staff, but that is part of being old, so this kind of behavior should be met with kindness, if u can't have compassion and be caring , like it was your mom or dad or brother or sister , or whatever, u should try a different profession. so good luck avenues and I will continue to be a part of the community as long as efforts are made and I see improvements a loving daughter
