With the sun being out (before the rain comes around 2pm), I decided to drive to Davis to stop by The Growing Groves Plant Shop. I wanted to grab myself an early birthday plant. I wasn't sure what plant I wanted in my collection next. My green thumb was getting greener with practice. Plants that aren't fussy and low maintenance seem to be the ones I thrive in caring for. Exotic plants, need to fall back for a bit lol. The Growing Groves is located on E Street, on the second floor. The woman welcomed me when I arrived. A neon sign "There's always room to grow" glowed in an area with plants and lounge chairs. The shop is breathtakingly beautiful. There were plants wall to ceiling!!! There were a lot of windows and glass cases filled with plants under grow lights. I did not see one struggling plant in the store. These were all plants getting a lot of love and care! I was impressed :) I walked around the small store a good 10 times before I decided on a small Bonnie spider plant. My current spider plant in the living room has been thriving. I love the green and white leaves, so, why not get another one to grow? Plus, it's a simple plant. Bright, indirect light and water when the top 1-2" of the soil dries out...is all it needs to grow. Oh, and occasional humidity from the shower. Aside from plants, there's soil, pots (plastic, terracotta) that you can buy. Many of the plants came with plastic saucers underneath that you can purchase for $1 more. I'm not big on saucers, and opted out of buying the one that came with my spider plant. I was a lil shell shocked by the prices. I think that may just because I usually buy my plants from Trader Joe's. Maybe these are just how much plants cost normally at a plant shop. Example: A monstera deliciosa at TGG is $32.99, while the 2 I have at home I bought for $12.99 a piece at TJ's. Lastly, there are signs throughout the store of plant care tips and an email address to contact if you ever need support in caring for a plant bought here. I thought that was dope! :) Purchasing my newest plant baby was quick and easy. FYI- the store accepts cards only for payment. The woman at the counter was nice. I signed up for their rewards program where I can earn nodes (points...extra credit for the clever plant humor!) with each purchase. I knew I would come back, so, it was a no brainer to sign up. I didn't look into what you get after so many nodes earned, but, I figure I can find out when I get home. Thanks The Growing Groves for my new plant/early birthday present. I definitely will be back soon! :)

This shop is perfect for any plant parent in the Davis community! I've been a long-time customer of this plant shop since it first opened. They not only have a wide range of indoor plants, but just walking through their shop is a relaxing, spa-like experience. I bought their bamboo palm today that I've been eyeing for a few months now! The owners were super friendly and were able to answer my questions about the plant, including whether it was pet safe (which it was)! One of the owners even carried it down the steps of their shop for me. The service here is always top-notch! Whether you're looking for a small succulent or a big, beautiful palm like mine, you're bound to find a lovely green friend to take home with you when you visit The Growing Groves Plant Shop!

A lovely little plant shop :) I actually heard about this place on tik tok & was super happy to check this place out when I went to visit my friends in Davis. The staff welcomed me & my friends when we entered the store, and gave us space to explore the store which I really like. The Interior of the store has a lovely welcoming feeling to it & everything is displayed nicely. Additionally, they also sell crystals & LGBTQ+ merch, such as rainbow stickers & pronoun pins :)

We all know what it feels like to get into a hobby and when you try to master something, it ends up failing. That's me. Yep, I'm not going to deny it. I've been trying my hand at plants for a little bit and have gathered a collection but when I finally get my hands on a Cell Tissue Culture Thai Constellation, that poor baby perished after week three. So here I am. I've found myself in yet another plant shop, freshly bereaved and I see this beautiful Monsterra Thai Constellation. My heart drops in awe over how lovely this specimen looks. Beautiful variegation, healthy, matured, unlike my Thai Constellation. I'm standing there wondering, immersed, in it's beauty and here enters Lawrence with their gorgeous eyes and muscular calves. I'm possibly salivating over the plant or Lawrence? Either way, I told my husband that I'm not Lawrence's type so my husband allows me to pick my jaw up off the floor and stumble words out of my oral cavity about the plant. I was shell shocked about the price but I knew it was going to be up there. I couldn't bring myself to purchase that gem... but, oh... doesn't Lawrence have a surprise up their sleeve. They bring out this beautiful Monsterra Albo. *wipes tears away from my grief of my lost TC* and dilates my eyes to one of my wish list plants. I'm standing there in disbelief that there's absolutely nothing in the way of me and this plant... but the price tag. My brain cannot compute. How much is it? I don't remember. My husband was saying that it was rude for me to haggle but I really couldn't remember the price. All I remember is putting my card in that damn card reader and jumping for joy after we left. The plant was so beautiful that a woman runs out of a store begging where I got that plant and I smile with glee, "The Growing Groves Plant Shop." Okay, enough with the theatrics. Let's get down to business. The shop is on the second floor and I'm not sure if there's an elevator for those that may need it. But upon entering the store, it is clean, brightly lit with beautiful natural lights. You enter the main unit that houses an awesome entry and walk into the main portion of the store. They have a few amendments and a great selection of pottery but you're instantly blown away with the display of plants beautifully placed throughout the store. They have a wide selection plants that have been meticulously cared for and ready for purchase. Lawrence was great. I wasn't able to meet their partner or their kitty but I'm sure they all would of provided excellent service either way. I wanted to dabble in biotech talk with Ricky but I'll save that for next time. Lawrence was super patient with me while decision making and never hovered over me throughout my tour. This plant shop was great. The service was awesome and I'm glad to of visited.

Wow wow wow I wish this shop was around back when I was going to school. Growing Groves is an adorable plant shop - located upstairs, next to the tattoo parlor in downtown. So many plant babies to choose from, including Peperomia, Monstera, Ficus, and various varieties of verdant ferns. The owners were friendly and ready to answer questions about their huge collection.

My cousin saw this place on tiktok and we had to stop by. It's so cute!!! I've recently got into plants, and this plant shop made it so easy to decide on what would be easy to care for. Another cool thing was on the plants, some had paw print stickers for pet safe plants! - I also own 2 dogs so that was extra helpful!! I ended up buying 2 pretty plants and a very beautiful white and blue pot! I love them so much and it's been about a week now and they are perfect in my little home. Thank you!! Check them out!!!

This place is a plant paradise! There are so many beautiful plants here. A wonderful variety to choose from, and well cared for. They even have carnivorous plants. I purchased several plants and pots, and Lawrence was super helpful, inviting and knowledgeable. He knows everything about every plant we asked about, and had great advice. I love my new plants so much! We will be back!!

Prices for the plants are average. They all look well-kept. The woman in front is very friendly and welcoming. The place is beautiful and well-organized. Not a lot of rares available, just common houseplants if that's what you're looking for! They also sell plant related stuff. Super cute cards!

Absolutely amazing from the moment I walked in until I left! Their plants are so beautiful and healthy and very reasonably priced! Lawrence was so helpful and knowledgeable! My sister snagged a Calathea Makoyana (prayer peacock plant) and a peperomia watermelon.. I got a Thai Con Monstera along with a Silver Dragon! I will totally be back on payday to get more!

They often do pop ups with other small businesses
