Visited twice while I was in Thunder Bay, both great experience, food are delicious, creative and well balanced in term nutrition, highly recommend if you are in the area and prefer vegan/vegetarian food. Their website is well designed with great user experience, easy to use, clear instruction and thoughtfully considered all possible options when you place your order. Job well done!

I was happy to find this place while on a work trip. Thunder Bay has a lot of great restaurants but they tend to be of the heavy/meaty/gastropub variety, so this was a welcome change where I could load up on some veggies! The place has a few tables, but most of the business seems to be for take-out orders. People seem to call ahead and then pick stuff up. I didn't, but the food still came out pretty fast. They have a variety of salads and grain bowls ($10-12 range), as well as lots of tempting fresh juices ($4-6 depending on the size). I wouldn't say anything was particularly novel or inventive, but they use fresh ingredients and have nice dressings/sauces. I wish they were open a bit later than 7pm, but I think it is more of a lunch/pick up dinner to-go after work spot.

Stopped by on way thru Northwestern Ontario - and wasn't disappointed. Selected the Living Salad which was both fresh and, frankly, delicious. Staff is both friendly and attentive to their customers. Definitely recommend!

The sampler plate: cured elk meat (too spicy imho), Thunder Gouda (gouda with herbs), and the AMAZING hummus with terrific whole grain bread

Simply superb! Great people, great food (the hummus beats any that Ive ever tasted ANYWHERE), and well worth the detour on your way West, East, or North (South if by sea) . The only hang is that their A/C is pathetic and on a 90+ day, it gets hot even on the terrace.

The best salad place in Thunder Bay. I would say the best salad I have had so far to this day.

We always ask locals and consult Yelp when looking for places to eat and have local/craft beer. We decided on Madhouse. It was a great experience. At first we weren't sure about eating there, so we sat at the bar to have a beer and look at the menu. The bartender was immediately cordial and welcoming. As we enjoyed a hazy IPA we struck up a conversation with her and looked at the menu. Another guy was at the bar and we struck up a conversation with him. The bartender and waitstaff seemed to know him well, so I asked if he worked there. He was the head chef. By the time we ate and left it was like we were old friends. Really enjoyed talking with them and getting some ideas for an early dinner. We decided to start with the beer cheese, nothing like I have ever experienced. It was very good and the pretzels were hot and fresh. An excellent appetizer. Then we split and order of tacos. Since the chicken tacos were a special of the day, we split an order of two and a side of fries. Does Canada celebrate Taco Tuesday? The tacos were excellent and a delicious twist on the ones we are accustomed to in Texas. We enjoyed the entire visit...food, beer, and conversation. I gave them each an American two dollar bill and they had never seen one. Win Win. I highly recommend this place. The bar became busy and cheerful, but not loud and boisterous. I'm glad we went there.

The chicken tenders were the best I have ever eaten anywhere and i don't know what they cooked the wedge potatoes with but they were melt in your mouth. HH loved the sauted seafood pasta. A winner!

I love the quaint aesthetic and furniture, the ample seating, the friendly baristas, the inviting atmosphere, the drinks, and the baked goods. The croissants (Saturdays only) and the blueberry ginger loaf (gluten free) are TO DIE FOR. Seriously, so yummy, I didn't even know the loaf was gluten-free the first time I got it.. I would love to know the recipe! As for their drinks, I usually get an Americano which is consistently good. But I've also gotten a latte and mocha (made with real chocolate) before and they were also wonderful. Best of all, all proceeds from their sales go towards supporting the women's shelter. I love supporting this business.

What's extra cool is that it's inside a beautiful church with beautiful stained glass windows and the employees are actually volunteers who give their time and the profits go to the church to be used for the community (apparently they're building a youth community center in town). I don't go to church, but it was so peaceful being there. It's definitely an experience--not your typical coffeeshop visit. I wish we had a church-coffeeshop-bakery all in one where I live. My only complaint is, okay two actually: 1) have a plastic lid that covers your baked goods from the flies 2) please don't play the same playlist--even if it was pretty music--every day; I was there every day for a week and was almost going out of my mind, haha.
