A wonderful cozy restaurant in the hip part of TB. It was a rainy gray evening and I walked into the Growing Season and instantly felt a little warmer. Nicely decorated and a very warm feel. The menu is small but has great options. The staff is super friendly and I had zero wait time for my bowl of rice, tofu, beets, & carrots. We ordered the Chipotle Chicken Unwrapped and the Venus Bowl. Overall, food tasted good and as other reviews have echoed, the food was fresh/healthy. We ordered takeout online. Only nitpick was that they accidentally gave me chicken instead of tofu in my Venus Bowl, and I only found out after I got home -- but they corrected their error by promising me a free Venus Bowl with tofu the next time I come in. Though the food is tasty, it's not as amazing as others keep raving about. Perhaps my expectations were too high given the price point. Portions are reasonable and filling. Bottom line, I'd still give other menu items a try next time. read more

I was happy to find this place while on a work trip. Thunder Bay has a lot of great restaurants but they tend to be of the heavy/meaty/gastropub variety, so this was a welcome change where I could load up on some veggies! The place has a few tables, but most of the business seems to be for take-out orders. People seem to call ahead and then pick stuff up. I didn't, but the food still came out pretty fast. They have a variety of salads and grain bowls ($10-12 range), as well as lots of tempting fresh juices ($4-6 depending on the size). I wouldn't say anything was particularly novel or inventive, but they use fresh ingredients and have nice dressings/sauces. I wish they were open a bit later than 7pm, but I think it is more of a lunch/pick up dinner to-go after work spot. read more

The Living Salad with its sesame-ginger dressing was delicious, as was the Strawberry Fields shake. My partner got the ginger-vegetable soup and it was amazing. I am still basking in the afterglow of the wonderful meal that I just had from here! I had stopped in a few times for the fresh juices, and had always eyed fellow patrons meals with a bit on intrigue and apprehension. It just looked so...healthy. Today, I resolved I was going to eat here, so I went and got the Season Sandwich, to bring back to work. I got back to my desk and opened my enironmentally friendly- recyled- bio-degradable container. I slid the contents on to a plate and stared down at it. It looked and smelled AMAZING! The Season sandwich consists of 2 pieced of Murillo bread and Local gouda, toasted very lightly, and then topped with slices of avocado, sesame seeds and pesto sauce, served openface. On the side was a bright and colorful salad with sprouted grains and seeds. The salad dressing was very flavorful, not over dressed and not too oily. delightful! The ladies here really make sure that you are eating with all of your senses. Wonderful contrasting textures, and beautiful colours! I couldn't believe it. It was delicious, and after I ate it, I felt so satisfied, but not gross full, like one would feel after eating an unhealthy meal. I cannot wait to go back. Tasty, super fresh sandwiches, pizzas and juice. Largely vegetarian menu but I believe there are non-vegetarian options as well. I am not typically a fan of juice bars or vegetarian fare, but this place makes everything so tasty! I particularly love the juice they call "elevate" and the season's sandwich with avocado, fresh sprouts and gouda. The vegan brownie is also really good - which again, I wasn't expecting. Very good lunch spot - excellent vegan and non-vegan options - quality ingredients... Their juices and smoothies are excellent and a great pick-me-up. The "chipotle unwrap" is super popular, hard to explain, but is one of the best dishes I've ever had (basically naan with a salad on top and some chicken or tofu with a mayo'ish chipotle dressing) Their salads are also an excellent choice and hard to beat. read more

I am in love with the Season Sandwich, an open faced sandwich with delicious melted Gouda over Avocado and topped with a tasty pesto. I have been a loyal customer for many years and thoughout the pandemic have ordered takeout and tipped minimum 30% because I know it's hard times. Today I figured I would head over and get myself some food and sit on the patio since it's finally open. I was hoping to do some work while I ate and was completely alone. I've been avoiding patios all together but when I drove by I noticed there was only one couple out on the patio so I figured now would be a really good time to enjoy a quiet meal out of my own home. I figured if it got busy I could go sit in my hatch and work from there easily. I was immediately told they wouldn't bring anything out to the patio for me. I was also told they wouldn't give me utensils and I could eat a salad with chopsticks if I wanted. The original woman who took my order was very friendly but the second lady with blue hair who joined her behind the counter was aggressive, arrogant and short with customers who came in while I was waiting and her coworkers. What really got me was the lack of care put into the food. The 7 pieces of spring mix, 4 sprouts and chicken so soggy it could have been confused as tuna. The dressing was all chipotle and no other flavour. Was really disappointed in this meal and although I've been going for almost 10 years - I think I'll have to go over to rebel salad instead as obviously the owners are more interested in this venture than the original. also - I saw two couples come and go during my time eating a late lunch and not one person came outside to clean or sanitize anything... which in itself is really horrifying. read more

Went here yesterday for lunch with a good friend. A little crowded but spacious once you have a seat. Without a doubt, some of the best vegetarian food I've ever had! So much variety in the salad, and the sandwiches are flavourful and creatively crafted. Colourful too, which is valuable when looking for a healthy meal. The Growing Season is such a cute little restaurant. The food here is mostly vegetarian (though they do offer some dishes with meat). I'm not a vegetarian by any means, but I really do love the dishes that the growing season offers. The food is always fresh, local and delicious. Even though it is vegetarian, the food is very filling. Service is always good, and the girls that work there are always super nice and super helpful. I'm here at least once a week, way better than grabbing gross processed fast food. It's super small inside but has a quirky vibe. Go early if you're heading there for lunch and want a table. Service is always fast and friendly. My favourites are the season sandwich, the living salad, and the garden grill. I haven't been able to try anything else yet as I'm always craving one of those three things. The price is perfect for what you get, large portions of healthy locally produced ingredients combined to make super tasty meals.
