fish and chips in a paper container

First time to Java Hut. Don't know why we waited so long. I had the Friday fish special. Wife had the Reuben. Neither of us were disappointed. My fish was actually much better than what I had at our last visit to Joey's Only. (very disappointing) You don't come to Java Hut for the atmosphere. Great food, large portions, acceptable service. We will definitely be back and sorry to have left it so long to try in the first place.

Excellent fresh, homemade food with large portions. Very mom and pop. They also have homemade pies and other baked goods and everyone seems to be eating burgers around me. They have all day breakfast generally, and all you can eat fish and chips on Fridays. The space is small, so time yourself accordingly (avoid rushes).

We asked for a table near the window, so we could look out and enjoy the view of the bay but it needed to be cleared. The waitress seamed irritated by this and told us to go sit in the lobby and wait until it was clear. A second waitress came to seat us was not as grumpy but still seamed a bit off. We ordered a burger and a salad, basic items. The burger was overcooked, we asked for a salad with mixed green garden lettuce, but it was served with just Romain lettuce, And finally, we found a hair in the salad. They took 20% off the bill but it was still gross. I heard the table behind us behind us complaining about their food as well and they got 20% knocked off their bill for something that went wrong. We were definitely disappointed with the high prices that this restaurant charges and the quality of food we were presented with With so many incredible restaurants within walking distance, being in this high-end neighborhood and associated with the Marriott hotels, this restaurant is way off brand.

Great space as well. They have a BBQ theme for the meats and this results in some of the best chicken wings I have ever had. And I am well travelled. The menu is reasonably priced which is a pleasant surprise. Besides one cranky server the service from the staff has been great.

We were there for a nice, relaxed meal and we were not rushed to order which was appreciated. We got cocktails to start - Amethyst Mine and Cucumber Basil Smash. I enjoyed the Amethyst Mine but my partner indicated he would not order the Cucumber Basil Smash again. My main course was the Novemburger with salad and my partner's was the rigatoni. The presentation was great; I really liked the dishes! I am not great at describing flavours, so I will just say this - the Novemburger was the BEST burger that I have ever had. It was SO flavourful. The beef patty was delicious. The rigatoni was good, but my partner said he wished he got the Novemburger, too. After our main courses, we got dessert and coffee. Cannot recall what exactly the dessert was called but it was some sort of matcha tart. It was creamy and delicious, but the best part was the pastry. So good!

I have had these items before and loved them. The Fritto Misto had more vegetables and shrimp than calamari and the Brussels sprouts in the dish were tough. The pizza seemed undercooked and the crust was not a thin pizza crust but seemed to be a tortilla. I know that restaurants are facing difficulty in this economy. But if the restaurant cannot maintain its reputation it is time to alter the menu.
