I went there twice. Once for dinner with my wife and daughter, and we sat in the dining room. The other time was with a friend and we sat in the bar area. See, Grumpy Goat consists of two indoor dining areas and an outdoor seating area within a slightly larger building also that has a locker room, golf shop, and meeting room. The food ranges from pub food, to sandwiches, to flatbreads, to great steaks. Both times, the bar area was louder and people tend to focus on drinks and appetizers there. There's a separate dining room beyond the bar area where full dinners seem more common. Given that my 2 trips were in November and December, don't have a good sense for the outside area. I could just see that there are several tables overlooking the golf course. On certain nights, they have live music. Great variety of drinks, appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, and entrees. Can go inexpensive, or can get a filet mignon and spent a lot. Filling choices. Prices are quite reasonable. read more

So, I was near the baseball fields and figured I'd grab a burger to go. I popped into this place, super clean and nice inside, gotta say. I asked the host for a menu to order takeout, and he was just handing it to me when some guy from the bar yelled across, saying it would be a 45-minute wait for takeout. Even though the host kind of confirmed that, I just wasn't up for waiting that long, especially since the place wasn't even that busy! So I decided to skip it and find somewhere else. We ran over for a little light dinner recently. Since reopening after the pandemic, they redesigned their menu with a nice variety of apps and entrees. Unfortunately, they no longer serve their crawfish ettouffe which was fantastic and they no longer have my favorite Belgian Tripel on tap. There are plenty of new and great things on the menu though. I always appreciated the view of the Highlands golf course and the ambiance in the bar and dining areas. The evening we went had great weather and we were hoping to dine on their balcony but we didn't make a reservation and the balcony was packed with a 30-minute wait so we just ate in the bar near the window. The bartender served us and did a great job. Our drinks were well made and she was attentive and very friendly. We ordered the vegetable flatbread and the crispy pepper calamari that was served with a sweet chili garlic sauce. Both were very tasty! Although we kept it light, I was tempted by a number of their big meaty entrees. Check out their menu and you'll see what I mean. read more

I went to the Grumpy Goat this past weekend for the first time and enjoyed it! To start, the restaurant has a homey vibe and I really liked that the fireplace was turned on when we were there. I got the cheese quesadilla to eat and it was tasty! The rest of my party also enjoyed their food which made for a great experience for us all. I wish I remembered our server's name because he was awesome through and through and also was very kind and entertaining which made the meal even more enjoyable. This place was great. A group of 12 of us came and we loved the food and service. Tried the calamari, chips with dips, crab cakes, and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers and they were all delicious. A few people got French onion soup and salad and they loved it. The entrees were delicious too. I had the chicken Marsala and it was awesome. Everyone else said their food was good. Our server was great too. Very attentive and handled our big group well. I am glad it's open again, I wanted to try it before but the Cajun menu was not my cup of tea so I walked in and walked out after seeing there was nothing on the menu that I could eat. Anyways now it has regular food and great menu! The chicken quesadilla was stuffed really good unlike other places where they cheap out on the chicken and cheese. The pork chop was yummy and the crab cakes too. I want to return to try the buffalo flat bread and their wings. Great friendly service. read more

At best, three stars - not terrible but also there's nothing outstanding or special about The Grumpy Goat (perhaps other than their location and captive audience of golfers). Typical golf club restaurant. Okayish quality food (e.g., fried calamari served on wilted, chopped iceberg lettuce) and okayish service (our drinks did not come through until after the appetizers were served; no verbal disclosure of surcharges either). Drinks are trending toward more expensive, but fairly standard pricing compared to similar restaurants. Sneaky 3% surcharge for using credit card which is not clearly disclosed on the menu but was a surprise charge after they ran the credit card. There was a loud group of golfers dining, and sound really travels through their main room, making conversations a bit of a strained experience. read more

We recently held a bridal brunch in their 3-season room, and everything was absolutely great! Chris was the coordinator, and he couldn't have been nicer. High ceilings, a fire place and a gorgeous view of the golf course. There is a patio that looks very inviting. Will have to check it out during the warmer months. This golf course has the best food in the area. Most club houses just have the typical hot dogs, brats and club sandwiches. They do have a draft happy hour on their beer selections . The golf course and service is very good as well. I highly recommended this place as a good value for food, drinks and golf. They also have memberships and a private room for a larger event. They also have senior rates for 55 and over. The outdoor patio overlooks the 18th hole. read more
