Went for a friend's birthday and I am in awe. The service was amazing. We had a young kid who use to be a bus boy and worked his way up. He was fun and talked to us a lot. We had a table of 5 and we all were in awe. The cocktails were amazing. I had the margaritas. So good! My friend had this amazing drink (purple drink). Now to the food.... ok one of the best Gluten Free hot dogs i have ever had, topped with carnitas, pickles red onions, the hotel was wrapped in bacon. OH MY GOD PLEASE KEEP IT ON THE MENU!!!! My husband suggested this place after using Gemini to compare restaurants on our way home from a baseball tournament to a local favorite back home. We pulled into the parking lot at 5:30 and the place was hopping. This is usually an amazing sign for a great restaurant. It all ended there. The hostess asked us if we could be done by 7 because they needed the table, it's 5:30. Rude. We walked into the dining room and were greeted with extremely loud talking. If you think you'll be able to hear the people you're dining with without shouting you're mistaken. The seating was awful. Either a hard picnic bench or wicker style chairs. Have you ever sat on a wicker style chair with shorts or a skirt on? Ouch! For the prices they're charging for the food you'd think they could afford decent seating. Possibly some more robust seating would do something to deaden the sound in that room. We were seated and ignored by every server in the room. The young man who delivers waters finally noticed us and brought us water. That's where the service ended. We had been there for quite some time, an additional 10 minutes plus. At this point I say to my party if they don't at least address us in the next 5 minutes we're leaving. This place does not offer complimentary chips and salsa. Isn't that kind of a standard of Mexican food restaurants? That was a $4.50 starter with red and green salsas. We did not enjoy the salsa and the chips were blah. Unfortunately we ordered our dinner with our starter. We should've cut and run. We waited for our food. It looked delicious, presentation is the one place this place won. These were the worst birria tacos I've ever had. Even with the consommé they tasted like nothing. After two bites I switched to the rice and beans which were decent. That was my dinner. Rice and beans for $18. Everyone in my party complained about the volume. Everyone in my party said we won't be back. The food was so bland. $84.50 with tip for 4 people for dinner with water only and the service, ambiance, and the food were just lacking. My experience started out very positively, and I was excited to celebrate my birthday here. We made a reservation for a party of 25, and the restaurant was more than happy to accommodate our group over the phone. Upon arrival, the atmosphere was beautiful and initially gave us high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience quickly declined. While our server was pleasant, service was extremely lacking. Several guests went nearly the entire evening without drinks or refills because our table was rarely checked on. For a large reservation, we expected much better attentiveness and service. The food was decent, but several members of our party felt it lacked flavor and did not meet our expectations. The most disappointing part of the evening came when it was time to pay. We were initially told the bill could be split four ways, which made us believe accommodating one guest who wanted to pay for his own meal & drinks would not be an issue. Instead, he was met with unnecessary resistance and rude treatment by the person handling payments, who told him to "figure it out" using Venmo, Zelle, or other payment apps. This left a very negative impression on our group and was handled in an unprofessional manner. To make matters worse, a family member had recently been personally offered a job by the owner. After our guest left a negative review regarding his experience, that job offer was rescinded because of the review. If this is truly how feedback is handled, it raises serious concerns about the professionalism of the business and its willingness to accept criticism. Overall, what should have been a special birthday celebration turned into a very disappointing experience. I just had the best tacos of my life here. The pork belly tacos were so good. I could come back and order 3 separate orders. I know they're just a special menu item, so I'll be keeping my eye out for any time they come back. I also had some wings, and the portion size was great and the sauce was really good, but the breading wasn't for me. I also tried the birria braised short rib, and it was fantastic as well. The meat was so flavorful and the risotto was delicious. The drink menu was pretty great, I had the Disneyland acid trip, and my partner had the smoked old fashioned. Both were tasty and boozy. My first time here after a morning at the lake with friends. We arrived there right before it opened and we seated right away. The dining room room was open and airy. What a gem of a bar! My husband and I were craving Mexican food and this spot wasn't too far from our hotel. We started with the Cadillac margs and, truly, was probably the best margarita I've ever had. It was perfectly balanced, definitely boozy and not too sweet or strong. We also shared salsa and chips, queso fundido, and some chicken enchiladas in red sauce. All the food was absolutely delicious! We honestly sat at the bar for almost four hours watching a World Cup game and the service was fantastic. We met one of the owners, who was so entertaining. Hidden gem for sure! My friends brought me here and it's a very nice atmosphere. Everything is clean and orderly and the staff were friendly and helpful. They were able to accommodate their veggie burrito into a vegan version. It was a vegetable burrito with a side of rice and beans. It was good! It needs a protein other than beans. A suggestion I have is seasoning some TVP- textured vegetable protein. This is filling, protein rich, and tasty. It's good for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free folk. Another option is tofu. I hear their chef is great, but many chefs aren't familiar with how to properly cook tofu. I was told their chef is now recognized as a top level chef in Arizona. We have been here before when this place was Casa Ramos. I guess I expected for them to have made a change, but this place looks exactly the same. It is a very nice looking place with a large fireplace in the center of the wall. Behind the metal cut out screen is going purple lights of the bar. It's kind of a good mix of traditional Mexican and modern decor, leaning more towards modern decor. What I don't like is it feels very echo-y, if that makes any sense. Our server was very nice and very helpful. I ordered one of the specials which was ahi tuna tostadas. There were three of them served on a delicious tostada shell with avocado and black sesame seeds. They were delicious! A friend ordered the street corn which came as a dip with chips. It was really good. I really loved my lunch and the two people with me seem to love theirs. It was our first time here and they exceeded all of our expectations. Service was a 10/10 the entire time. They check on you, and make sure that you get what you need. It was Friday and we were leaning towards meatless options. My husband had the shrimp fajitas and an old fashioned to drink. He was very happy with his selections. The kids and I had bean and cheese burritos and our youngest had an enchilada. We all enjoyed the chips and salsa. We absolutely loved this restaurant! This was our first visit to The Guadalupe on Main and it was fantastic! From the outside, the building has unique historical restaurant flare. Once you walk inside, the decor is absolutely gorgeous. High ceilings with beautiful light fixtures and perfectly executed decorative touches give this restaurant a warm upscale feeling. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with chips and salsa. They give you green and red salsa. The chips were freshly cooked and the salsa were both delicious! The green one was a touch tangier and spicier than the red, but we enjoyed them both. I had the Birria tacos. The meat was moist and very plentiful inside the tacos. The plate came with two tacos, rice, and beans. Let me just tell you these are not your average rice and beans. They were packed with delicious flavor which left me wanting more. My friend had the fajitas and he said they were spectacular! He ordered the steak fajitas. A heaping portion of meat on top of onions and peppers. The service was impeccable and we even got to meet the owner. He was super nice and very grateful we chose his restaurant for lunch. He also introduced us to their executive chef. My husband and I practically treat this place as our Friday night hangout. We still love grabbing seats at the bar, soaking in the energy, and watching all the action. We've even met another couple here who've since become friends, that's how welcoming and fun the vibe is. On our most recent visit, we tried a couple of new items. First was a starter: shrimp wrapped in bacon, served on a flat skillet with bell peppers, onions, and a lovely chipotle crema. Absolutely fantastic. The flavors were smoky, savory, and perfectly balanced. We also had the chance to try something from their most recent chef's tasting night, a tuna tostada made with sushi-grade tuna. It came as three tostadas topped with beautifully marinated tuna, and it truly tasted like heaven. It probably won't make it onto the regular menu, which makes me even more grateful we got to experience it while we could. First I have to say I just finished lunch at the Guadalupe on main. The second thing I have to say is I am so full. I probably will not eat for a week. That's a lie, it'll probably be more like 3 or 4 hours. So I was stuck in Arizona getting my car fixed so I was kind of trapped at the hotel with limited food options within walking distance. Of course, I opened up Yelp and found that this place called Guadalupe on main was a literal 5-minute walk from the hotel. I was really craving some Mexican food and was super excited about trying this place out. An easy walk down main Street and there it was on the right hand side. The exterior of the building was very modern and elegant, to be honest I thought I was going to have outpriced myself for lunch. But I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the door The place is just as elegant on the inside, and when I say elegant I don't mean dressy or overly classy, neat and clean, perfect amount of decor, and a very great open seating area. One of the things that stood out was the giant open window at the far side of the restaurant that had a brick wall going up with this beautiful painted mural on it. Not to mention that there was a green alien skeleton relaxing in there. See my pictures if you don't believe me. I ordered some chips and salsa and a beer, and was not disappointed. Sometimes you never know what you're going to get when it comes to chips and salts at a Mexican restaurant. Best case scenario is that they are homemade. Worst case scenario is they bought them from a grocery store down the street. These were fresh and hot and came with two different kinds of salsas... Red and green. This was especially a nice touch as most places only give you the red sauce. For the main course, I ordered carnitas, if you've read any of my other Mexican restaurant reviews on Yelp, you know that that is The benchmark that I judge a Mexican restaurant by. The carnitas was perfectly cooked, had just the right amount of char on it and was moist and flavorful. The rice and beans were top notch and they gave you a little dab of guacamole on the side to put on your tortillas if you wanted to make a taco. I got to meet the owner, Dirty. Mike, super nice guy, very friendly, made great suggestions and you can tell his heart and soul is in this place. Bottom line? If you are ever are in the Mesa area and looking for some good Mexican food, this is a place you need to add to your list. Everything was phenomenal. I saved this place on TikTok to try. We came. We seen. We tried it. Kinda bummed...Let me explain... I ordered the Azteca salad without shrimp. It was good. 7/10 good. Nothing special. The pollo asado--the meat itself was flavorful. The vinaigrette was surprisingly good. My issue was the field greens were full of stems. The portion size was on the smaller size for a salad that was almost 19.00. The fiancé had the asada plate and he rated it a generous 5/10. He said the meat lacked flavor. The refried beans tasted like canned and the rice was dry. He was upset he spent 25.00 when he could have gone to Chipotle for a steak bowl. The chips and salsa were...just chips and salsa. A bit small on the portion size for chips. The red salsa was mostly a tomato base with no spice. The green salsa was the better tasting salsa. The best part of what we ordered were the cocktails. We both enjoyed our drinks. I had the Jackoloupe Cowpoke and the boyfriend ordered the Thirst Trap. We both would rate our cocktails an 8/10. Service was ok--she forgot our straw and never came back around to ask us if we wanted to order another cocktail. We probably would have if she had asked. Overall--first impression was underwhelming and overhyped. The food definitely was not giving authentic Mexican and was very average at best but the cocktails were decent. Okay..WHAT is this hidden gem?! If you haven't been here, stop what you're doing and get over here now. Guadalupe on Main is a Sonoran style Mexican food spot giving off upscale moody upscale vibes. Upon entry, you'll walk around to the main dining room. You will immediately see that moody feel with the dark painted walls & mid century modern furniture. Our server made his way around and was very friendly. We were a group of 8 with small children and he was patient and welcoming with all of us. We started off with chips and salsa, which was nothing to rave about. Once our food hit the table, it was so beautifully and elegantly plated. Everyone enjoyed their food and I especially loved mine. I opted for the chicken mole enchiladas and they were SO GOOD. The mole was as authentic as my grandmothers and each rolled into a handmade corn tortilla and stuffed with just enough filling. For dessert, we had the churros with chocolate and they were served warm and soft. Around the corner from the dining area, you will find a small sports bar and make way your to the secret door for a speak easy! First impression off the bat the ambiance was amazing the place is so elegant and neatly laid out. When ordering our waitress was not too knowledgeable on the menu there were many things we asked and she said she wasn't sure then proceed to state she would ask but never got back to us. We started off with a margarita which was so delicious and smooth. I ordered wings since it was wing Wednesday and my husband ordered the pollo en crema burrito bowl. The bowl was so delicious and filling, the crema was perfectly cheesy. The wings however were extremely greasy and hard to eat. I brought this to the waitress' attention and she shrugged it off and agreed they look greasy but took no action. I mean who orders wings at a Mexican place anyway lol. But I was eager to try the piloncillo chile de árbol flavor which was over powered by the taste of grease dripping from the batter unfortunately. The churros were amazing and the dipping sauce was a perfect additive. As a gluten free girly I definitely plan on returning and trying some of the other authentic flavors. While I really enjoyed the restaurant I do unfortunately have to dock a star for the service we received I hope the longer the restaurant is open the more organized our waitress becomes so other people can 1) have their questions on the menu answered and 2) have their concerns validated and resolved. read more

The service here was very friendly and attentive, starting with the small child who brought us our menus. I think we might have been given complimentary chips and salsa once they found out it was our first visit, which was considerate. (And a smart move - since a lot of people complain about how they charge for this.) I ordered the chicken fajitas and was nothing but pleased with them. I think there's a major disconnect with customer service at this restaurant. For me, it doesn't matter how good the food is if the service experience is this poor. We came in Sunday around 4:50pm with our 5-year-old. Right away, the vibe felt off. Another family in the lobby was already frustrated because they'd been waiting to be seated despite lots of empty tables. There was no host at the front, and the lobby felt completely disconnected from the rest of the restaurant. We waited over 10 minutes just to be seated. Once we finally got a table, we sat there... and sat there. No water, no greeting, no acknowledgment for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, a couple seated after us was greeted, served drinks, got chips and salsa, and placed their order while we were completely ignored. At one point the host briefly dropped off a kids menu saying, "Oops, figured you might need this," and disappeared again. By the time someone finally brought water, we'd been there close to 30 minutes total at this place, without even being able to order. As the waiter set the waters down, he commented that our child probably needed a kids cup, which honestly reinforced how unnoticed we'd been the entire time. What surprised me most was there was never any apology, explanation, or even a quick "thanks for being patient." from any of the host/wait staff. At that point, with a hungry kid and no sign that anyone was managing the situation, we decided to leave. I let the owner know what happened on the way out, but the response felt pretty dismissive. The food looked great, and honestly if someone had just acknowledged us or gotten chips and salsa started, we probably would have stayed. My wife took me out for Father's Day. First time for either of us here. Bria was our waitress, who was amazing! My wife had the Breakfast Skillet and I had the Green Chile Papas Au Grautin. OMG! Great food and service!!! The chicken and the veggie fajitas were outstanding. Not overly spicy... and I think I know why. My wife and I tried this restaurant on a Sunday night while in town for a hockey tourney. Yelp reviews were good and the server at a local brew pub also recommended this spot. We arrived and the parking lot was fairly full, but the neighborhood was a little run down. We were quickly seated in the dining room, where an older gentlemen was singing 60s, 70s, and 80s songs. He was not bad, but my younger Gen X wife was... not overly impressed. When he broke into "Beth" from KISS and I sang along, she about lost it. To get to the point... food was good, drink was tasty, and I enjoyed my night (mainly giving my wife a hard time). This place was a pleasant surprise. My wife and I are from Texas, and we were here with a group of friends who had flown in from all over, Chicago, North Carolina, and Dallas, and some locals. We've had some less than stellar Mexican and the distinct but separate Tex Mex while on our travels, but this place knocked it out of the park. My two highlights were my entree, and something else that was a complete surprise that I'll save for later in the review. I selected the classic chile relleno, which was delivered in a very proper service, featuring beans and rice, and the relleno itself had been dipped in a traditional egg batter, which was both fluffy yet substantial at the same time. A delicious but non-intrusive ranchero sauce was served atop the dish, and everything about it was fantastic. But as an even more pleasant surprise, was the shop made corn tortillas that were served as part of some of the other diners' meals, but after tasting them, we asked for more, They had a wonderful texture, thicker and way more moist that the typical rounds, yet not like a cake or a pupusa - they were still flat, but had a knockout corn flavor and were a joy to eat just by themselves or with a schmear of butter. I want to come back just for these, but it's a long way from Dallas. :) Definitely try this place if you want some great Mexican food in the desert! read more

This place was wonderful- excellent service, excellent food! The interior is tastefully decorated with motifs to Mexican history and culture that my parents had a fun time pointing out. The food was absolutely delicious as well, and in my mom's words- 100% authentic. As for my thoughts... if you're craving salad, I recommend the Azteca Salad. Delicious and a generous serving! This place was amazing from the service, the food, and the experience. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean. We ate at the bar and I hate it when the bar top is sticky. No stickiness. The staff was friendly and they seemed to enjoy working there. Now the food: food was great. Salsa was great. Entrees were excellent. I also tried my friend's marg and it was made well.
