I stopped by Pedal Haus Biergarten on a Friday evening an hour or so before close. Located in downtown Mesa, I didn't have trouble finding a free parking spot on the street. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pedal Haus has a nice patio when the weather cooperates (it was summer when I stopped by so it was a no-go), so we ended up sitting inside. It's not a huge brewery, with some high tops and seating at the bar. We sat at the bar. Pretty much your typical brewery vibe... chill. Service (4.5/5): Friendly, attentive, and efficient service. Exactly what I look for. A job well done. Food (N/A): We ate prior, so we were on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): I love going to breweries to have a flight so I can try a nice variety of their beers. Which is exactly what I did beer. A good number of their beers are IPAs or dark beers which aren't my style. Luckily, there were still four beers that were right up my alley for a flight... typically I have a greater selection of brews that interest me. All good though because the brews I had were tasty. We also shared a margarita beer which was cool. Always fun when a brewery has liquor too. Phoenix has a lot of cool breweries. I'm glad I got to check this one out! read more

I recently moved to mesa about six months ago, and this was one of their first places we stopped at when I was walking down main street, and I have a service dog, and they were just so wonderful here.Absolutely, just catered to our service.Dog Shadow, and so extremely nice to him, and just very respectful. .The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful.All the employees are great. Great bartenders, and the young man that cooks outside, and the food trailer is just an exceptional cook the food is Amazing , Always clean environment. Stopped in here before an event for a beer and a bite. The beer was good but the burger was lacking. The patty crust was bordering on burned and I'm not sure there was anything else besides cheese and a wedge of lettuce on the burger. There's a literal burger place across the street so you'd think the burgers here would have to be pretty decent in order to be bold enough to offer it on the menu. We came to Pedal Haus in search of late night food and it didn't disappoint! We went right up to the little food cart right on time because after we ordered they got slammed with about 15 orders and closed shortly after. Our group got the nachos, pretzels, quesadilla and sliders. All the food was very good, but it did kind of take some time as the two guys seemed a bit overrun. The nachos were my favorite - tasty queso and cotija cheese. We also ordered a couple of drinks while here and got the them very quickly for the bartender. At first glance, this place seemed like a college hangout spot, then after a deeper dive into the crowd, it was a pretty mixed/older crew with a few college-aged people, lots of 30/40 yr olds and a few 50+ folks. It wasn't too loud but there was a chill buzz amongst everyone. When we came there was massive flooding/heavy rains so we stayed (mostly) under the covered patio and watched the rain as we stayed dry. Because it's an outside venue, the flies were running wild trying to claim our food which kind of was annoying, but that's a risk eating outside. Food- yum! Burgers are outstanding! We started with Nachos Appetizer, piled up with all the good stuff, pico, sour cream, guacamole, pickled jalapeños and best of all homemade, the best pulled pork.... The pretzel I'm sure is amazing if it's the same as the Tempe location, had it! Beer menu is extensive and so great tasting, had weiß the pilsner and Kölsch. Great outdoor seating with misters and shade. We caught a World Cup game for lunch and the temp was very comfortable. PEDAL TO THE MEDAL A trivial review of Trivia Night Our friend group of 9 came in pursuit of a Gold Medal in the Trivia contest. We sat on the patio on this August evening and it was hotter than the devil's crotch on a bicycle seat and just as sweaty. It was so uncomfortable even with the misters on along the perimeter, it was barely tolerable. The misters were useless, and only made it feel muggy. You are literally in the hot seat answering questions, so that might add difficulty as your brain melts. I wish the brew house would have GAF (giant a** fans) and have them pointed at the seating area, along with industrial-sized ceiling fans on the ramada. Heck, since we are at the suggestion part of review, it would be nice if they put small fans at each table. You will be getting a WAP for the wrong reasons and have people saying IDFWU if they don't do something to cool the area down. TRIVIA RULES AND TIDBITS: NO DUMMIES ALLOWED. Jk! If that was the case I wouldn't be there. The questions do require some thinking though. They take their trivia very seriously here. No phones out while you are answering questions, so you can't cheat; there are rewards for the winners after all. With the phone restriction, they are very strict and the Hostess will monitor you. If caught, the penalty is disqualification. The hostess walks around like a proctor at a college exam, so no funny business, or you get kicked out of the business. The amount of time to answer each question is timed by playing a song or two over the speakers. However, the music was broken on this warm, summer night. Awww, Hot girl Bummer! GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW: There are 6 rounds with 3 questions per round, each question of a varying topic. There is a halftime question to earn points as well. There is a final question after all the rounds, where you can wager up to 15 points to gain or lose, like Final Jeopardy. The questions range from easy to hard with every topic imaginable. Of course there are straight single answer questions. Some questions you have multiple answers to put in chronological order. Some you have to name multiples in a set. The variation of types of questions keeps you on your toes. One thing to remember, in each round you have a set of 3 different point amounts that you can wager, with only the ability to use each Point amount once for the 3 questions during the round . So, wisely assign each point amount to the question. It takes some strategy to be a top team. By the way, First place gets $30 gift card, 2nd gets $20, and 3rd gets $10, in case you cared about that, cuz I know ya'll don't even like money and just came to have a good time. But the losers get 86'ed like the losers in SQUID GAME. just kidding. Overall it was a good time. We got second place. If we don't win anything then I might have to do an update on the review and rate it down. Just kidding again. read more

Pedal Haus is a really unique place built in an old service station. The atmosphere is great. There's a huge shaded patio with misters and games like cornhole. We went mid-day when it was pretty hot. Although the patio was relatively comfortable with the misters, we still ate inside. They have a good beer menu. I was pleasantly surprised. The tap list is t limited to only IPAs. They actually had good beers also. I had the Sourgarten which was great. We ordered food also. The food was good and not extremely expensive but I wouldn't say the food was great. There were signs promoting their Sunday brunch which looked extremely fun. I'll have to go back for that. read more

Atmosphere and beer is awesome but man the night we went (a Wednesday), service was really bad. Not even that busy, maybe 10-12 people, but we just could not get the attention of bartender or server. Took forever to even just place our drink orders, though we WERE able to do taste testers at least. Food out of food truck was okay. Love pedal haus and was super excited that one opened up on mesa. A location a lot closer to home. It's a very strange pedal haus. Compared to tempe or even the Gilbert one. This one doesn't really serve food food. There's light appetizer/snacks but there's not wings, burgers, or flatbreads etc. Don't expect to go for food. If you just want a drink that's fine. Everything to order is bar service. You order at the bar. Nobody comes to check up on you. You sit where you want. There is staff walking around but they don't greet you or interact with you. Its very odd. They could say least say something like a greeting. Love how they're dog friendly but the ground/gravel rock and dust is not it. Came tonight for the friends and family night. It's a great new spot. This Pedal Haus is located at the corner or Robson and Main in downtown Mesa. It's a brand new facility with a sprawling patio and cute indoor bar area with TVs. The weather outside tonight was very nice. Pedal Haus has excellent beers and food. Looking forward to coming here, in addition to the Tempe location we usually visit. Service was great- friendly and plenty of staff circulating around to pick up empty glasses and plates. read more

I'm so disappointed. I attended a concert at the Nile Sunday night and stopped at Pedal Haus Mesa for a beer and some appetizers; the food was bad and really horrible portions for $10. The waitress talked up the maple butter, I think? -and we agreed for the $3 upcharge to only not be served the butter in the end. The pork sliders were essentially pickle sliders because of how little meat was on the bun. To top it all off the bar tender opened up a tab without my permission and ended up double charging me. Once for just for ordering and paying, then again at the end of the night because the unapproved tab was still open. I've been trying to get a hold of the team since Monday night, but no one will answer us. Unfortunately, I won't be supporting Pedal Haus in the future. read more

So many missed opportunities on this redevelopment. Such lack of creativity, poor planning, bad design, on and on. Not nearly as nice as their other locations, especially the patio. Only 4 small TVs on the big patio. That's unforgivable. And they're blocked by the stupid decorations and lighting. So are the interior TVs! Someone thought it'd be cool to have these giant metal rings around a single light bulb hanging down from the ceiling. On the entire inside of the room! Form over function as they block the TVs! Dumb. The side outdoor bar is poorly positioned and is just a ledge not really a bar. What's the point. No table service. Glare on the TVs. Too small TVs. Not enough of them. The dust (tiny powdered gravel) they put on the patio makes your dogs and shoes dusty. Dumb. The only food is from a tiny food truck. Dumb. And it's not good. The Cuban isn't toasted. Very mediocre and none of the food is special or authentic or memorable. And they try to deceive you ("what kind of chips do you want with that?" Me: lAre they included?" "No, they're $2.50 extra."). The other locations have real kitchens and big menus and good food! This one was a blank slate and they really missed the mark on every level. The whole process of having to leave your table (and bring your kids/dogs/devices) to order and retrieve your food from the food truck or order drinks at the bar is very inconvenient. Beer and cocktail prices are too high especially with no table service. No misters (yet). Bathrooms have a community sink so you have to touch the door handle to get out meaning you're touching everyone else's $@!& to get out. Put in a foot-pull door opener on the door. The water dispenser stations have a ridiculously small and slow spout dispensing water. Like they bought it at Walmart. So disappointed. Was really hoping for a special spot. Go to OHSO or another Pedal Haus. Such better patios, food, service, decor, TVs, dog-creature comforts (OHSO). Whoever designed this one should be fired. read more

The customer service here was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. While it's smaller than the Pedal Haus in Tempe, it has more of a laid-back, neighborhood bar vibe that I really enjoyed. The food was very good and priced just right. Never been to this location but even though it was raining it looked like a fun place to check out. We walked in and were not sure of how to order-some people had menus others didnt so I walked up to the bar. No greeting just what do you want. Put in my order and then was told you cant order food at the bar so then went and put my order in for food and seemed to annoy that person too. I just did not understand the process. Went back to the bar to put in for a drink, they forgot to give me the check to sign off on so I continued to wait. When we got the food we had no idea it did not come with sides which was a bummer too-I guess we just need more communication. The burgers were absolutely amazing! Seriously, I would go and get a burger there to go any time. The pretzel had a sauce that was apple butter maple syurp that was just fabulous! First we ordered a wine and beer. My wine came from a can and the glass it came with was so dirty it looked like it had not had been cleaned in weekend. I asked for a new one and they scoffed at me for even asking. The one they gave me was dripping wet with a chunk on the inside but whatever I took it. I asked for a mixed drink the next round and they all had a good laugh. Not sure what was so funny but the mustache patrol and the short girl with glasses thought I couldn't be funnier. I was there with my partner a couple of weeks ago and they were playing trivia, ok cool. Except that we have never been there before, we didn't know the rules. My partner shouted out an answer and was immediately scolded by the host and loudly called an a$$hole by another guest. We apologized and we proceeded to talk amongst ourselves. The bartender came by and my partner apologized to him and the bartender said "Yeah, you ruined it for us too". My partner ordered another beer and I declined a second beer. While I was in the restroom the same bartender said to my partner "That lady is cut off." I wasn't belligerent or loud in anyway, so I don't know his reasoning to say that. His comment made me uncomfortable because I already refused a drink so we left. Management do a better job training your staff that not everybody will know all the rules so please be kind to the newcomers instead of trying to intimidate them. read more
