Heard they make their own root beer, so stopped when I was in town. Headed to a wedding after, so no time or need for regular beer just then. Needs signage. GPS took me to it, and I saw a parking lot nearby, but it's a nondescript building and nothing said the name or even "brewery," except a small logo on a door not visible from the street, and a mural inside also not visible from the street. Complaint only holds when the place is open, at least during warm weather. When it's closed, or during cold weather, the garage doors are down and it does have the name in big bold letters on that. But on a warm spring day for a person from out of town, there was zero indication that this was the right place. Sorry. Long gripe. Once I knew it was the right place, I had a good experience. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. An assortment of drinks. And a darn good root beer. $3 I think for a pint of root beer, and they offered me a big sample before that. The staff were helpful and warm, and proud of their products. I'd definitely come back, and get a gallon or growler to go if I could.

I wish there were more breweries like this in Chandler! Maybe there are and I just need to do some more exploring. I love a brewery that goes heavy on stouts. Guardian had 3 or 4 different stouts they brew that were on top when I went here. I had to get a flight, so I tried the Ogre milk stout, the Rainbow Pop IPA, the Strawberry Milkshake IPA, and an oatmeal stout. I think I also had a cream ale, but I don't remember. The strawberry milkshake was actually really good, and I enjoyed the oatmeal stout as well. The pizza options were also very creative. I went with the something punk with bacon, garlic aioli, and steak. It was really good! Different than a traditional pizza and so filling. I also love the space. It was a big open warehouse, but not too loud so you could enjoy a conversation with your group easily. The jukebox was a fun addition and we were hoping to play some pool but the two tables were taken while we were there. I don't know that I'll be back in Muncie anytime soon but if I can get my friends to ship me some beer I will definitely ask for stuff from Guardian!

First time visiting GBC and we all loved it. Already saw photos posted of same pizzas we ordered. Was not busy or full on a Friday night. Steady. Two pool tables, only one was being played. Kind of loud if you're trying to talk, but this is a bar to hang out, so enjoyable.

Staff was interactive, fun/funny, and helpful in recommendations. We started here for appetizers and trying new things as a start to our date night. The pretzel bites were with that homemade and fire grilled flavor-esk. The garlic bread was ok. Definitely not beer drinkers so we'll leave that adventure up to you and yours

Staff was fun, funny, and interactive. We stopped in for a couple appetizers as a start to our date night. The pretzel bites were to die for. A grilled, fire taste that hit just right. The garlic cheese bread was good, but nothing special. Overall, not a bad spot to stop in. We are not beer drinkers either so we can't comment on that aspect

Flight of beers! For when you can't choose just one.

Great food, great beer, good atmosphere! What's not to like? Met up with an aunt and uncle to catch up, having some pizza and beers for dinner. I had the "Bill the Butcher" pizza and a flight of beers. I couldn't choose just one, so I selected several I thought I'd like. Most were good but a couple were outstanding beers. My wife and family got a variety of pizzas, all of which were delicious. Service was good, however it was a bit slow as the dinner crowd came in. All around a very nice place.

The Guardian Brewing Co in Muncie is a great place to go for a beer and some quick bites. I tried 8 of their brews and really enjoyed them all. My favs were the Fudge Pop Porter and the Kitty Whispers (sour). I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. I had one of their flatbread pizzas and it was delicious. The evening I was there, they had a free comedy show going on. Each of the performers were quite good, especially Mikey Mason, who had some very entertaining songs as well as stand-up.

Loved Guardian. Good selection of beers and friendly staff. Great environment - very brewery-like. Even bought a hat!

We had the opportunity to visit Muncie so we looked for local breweries. We found Guardian for our first stop, and we weren't disappointed. It's tucked away a bit and parking was a little confusing but we figured it out. They have a few sours on tap and a milkshake IPA that was fantastic. We only had time for a snack so we got the cheese bread which was so good. The best part of the visit was talking to the manager Jason. We chatted about beer, Ball State, and Muncie. It was pretty busy but he still found time to serve everyone and have a good conversation too! The next time I'm in Muncie I'll be sure to stop back by!

The beer tastes awful. The servers and bartenders can take a long time to finally get your drink.

What a pleasant surprise to find this small brewery (literally) on the south side of Muncie! When…read moreI pulled up to this place, it looked like any other strip mall/industrial office space. Even when I stepped inside, the lobby looked like an office with some merchandise of the brewery on hand. I was greeted by the mom of the owner and she welcomed me back into the brewery (it looks like a big garage) where the vats sit out just behind the bar. I grabbed one of the seats and decided to go with a flight ($7) of five of the six beers. They weren't arranged in any particular order on the taps, so I didn't necessarily drink them in the optimal order, but I was pleased with the flavor on all of them! I started with a Hopscotch Scottish Ale with hops (4.4% ? IBU) that had a pleasant blended flavor where the hops were forward, but not overpowering. I moved on to the Moe's Cream Ale (5%, 10) which seemed especially sweet after the hopped scotch. Very smooth and tasty! The amber (5.3% ?) was probably my least favorite of the flight. It was okay, but didn't stand out from the others. The White River Stout (4.8%, 34) was a little different from most stouts I've tried. It had the deep rich coffee flavor, but there was a hint of some mystery flavor I still can't quite identify, but would say it was almost tart....but not in a bad way. Just a nice flavor with a little something extra. I finished off the flight with the Black IPA (8%, 81) which was another good beer. Plenty of hops, but not overly bitter. I did get to sample the Windy Kilt (Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy) and was surprised that for 9% (27 IBU) beer, the alcohol didn't overpower the other ingredients! It was delicious and balanced. Probably the most enjoyable high alcohol beer I've had! Right now, the space is a bit cluttered and isn't big enough to meet a bunch of friends. It also closes at 6 p.m. during the week. But good news is that the owner is trying to reopen a taproom nearer to downtown (Hoyt and Liberty) late in the summer. From what I was told, it should have plenty of parking and lots of space for customers AND equipment. Not sure if the operations will close on the south side, but even if they brew one place and serve at another, that would be a definite improvement to the visitor experience. I got to talk with a couple of the folks who work there and one of their customers while enjoying my visit. Seems like a friendly group that like to share good stories and listen to a few of mine. Good place! A definite place to bookmark, especially if they get their new expanded location. Review #2622

Eventually she got off and sat us down at one of the tables in the bar area. I noticed all the wait staff were crowded around next to it where the kitchen meets the bar, and just chatting. I found it odd considering there's only one hostess and then there's all of these waitstaff just mingling about. But, being short staff is typical these days so I suppose that's probably how it is there. That's probably why the bartender was the one who waited on us as well. She was quite nice, and definitely knew how to make a good drink. I could hardly taste the alcohol in both. The first one I got was a lemonade type if I remember correctly, It was quite refreshing. The second drink I ordered was a blackberry margarita, which was honestly not good. I'm not big on sour, and it was pucker your lips and just drink it quick type sour for me. The rim had salt, and although I'm not a big salt rim person, that was probably my favorite part besides the actual blackberry floating in it. If you like sour you'd probably love it, but personally it was not for me. As far as food goes, we ordered the hummus appetizer to start. It came out fairly quick, and damn it was good. The fried pita bread with flakes of salt on top were our favorites. I could eat a whole big bowl of that alone if I could. When we almost were done with that, our food came out. My friend had ordered their crispy chicken in the dill pickle hot style, and both him and I were surprised at the amount of fries that came with. It was like fries with a side of chicken sandwich. He gave me a bite of his sandwich, and we both agreed it wasn't spicy or dill-y enough. The fries were honestly my favorite part out of all the food. They were so crisp and kept their warmth pretty well. They were also dusted in cinnamon sugar, which just made them 1000% better. Sometimes at other places you get them and they can be soggy or not have anything on them. They make them the right way here! For my meal, I got the drunken dory, I was debating on that or the blackened salmon salad, but figured why not go with some fries. Seeing how much fries my friend got vs myself, I was a little disappointed, but in the end he ended up stuffed whereas I had just enough. I really liked the plating on this, putting the fish on top of the fries so as the outside stays crispy on the fish. It did work, and overall was very nice. Could've used a bit of salt, and came out very hot though. All the food retained its heat very well. Their tartar sauce was also quite good, and as you can expect the coleslaw was nothing to write home about. I would definitely come back here again, probably try more of their apps and beers, I definitely like it better than some of the breweries over where I live in Virginia, so if you haven't tried it I highly recommend you do!
