    Rhubarb pie
    Rhonda M.

Stopped in for lunch for the first time. The ambiance is typical bakery/diner. Our friendly server took our order right away & brought our drinks quickly. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes & was steaming hot. Loved that my hamburger bun was freshly made in their bakery. My cheeseburger, waffle fries & coleslaw were all delicious. I ordered a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie & a slice of apricot pie but they were out of both so I settled on rhubarb pie & it was good. Hubby liked his haddock & coleslaw but felt there were precious few steak fries on the plate. He ordered a slice of raisin pie but they were out so he chose a slice of apple pie & it was delicious. Our server took good care of us. We would definitely return when in the area.

If you are in the mood for homemade pie, then Mrs. Wick's Pie is the place for you. On a cold, windy day my son and I set off to explore and decided to stop here for lunch. The Swiss mushroom burger and pulled pork we enjoyed were tasty and filling, but the pie was the star of the meal. Every day, one woman makes a variety of fresh pies by hand. So although you'll never know exactly what's available, any pie you choose will be delicious and baked with care. I still dream about the flaky crust and fresh berries in the blackberry pie I picked and my son licked the plate clean after his apple crumb pie. Add a hot cup of coffee and you've got the perfect treat. We will absolutely be stopping back anytime we are nearby!

Most fantastic tasty pies, great atmosphere, and nice service. I would love to visit again soon!

This is a great restaurant! When you arrive, there is a huge parking lot with lots of spots. If you park in the back, walk around to the front and head on inside. Once inside, you can seat yourself. There were a lot of people there at 12:30 pm on a Tuesday but service was great. The food selection is expansive and there is something for everyone. I got the club sandwich, and a salad and enjoyed it. The pie though was amazing! I got the apple crumble pie and will be back for it!!!! I might even try to add ice cream next time! Definitely recommend coming here!

Loved the sugar cream pie! Small town diner appeal with pie (yum!). Went here to participate in the Indiana Culinary Trails Passport Pie Day-to-Pi Day event happening now. Glad we tried it. It was our first time having a Wick's pie (well, three of them).

I only came for the pie. So, I can't comment on how the lunch/dining experience is. But the pie? Oh my! After browsing the merchandise and the frozen pies on the left of the counter, I saw the counter area clear to look over the fresh pies available that day. I saw a sign for an Almond Cherry, but there wasn't a pie there. I figured it didn't hurt to ask, so I did and within a minute, a fresh pie was brought out. I had to exercise restraint to get only a slice which I got for less than $3! And it was delicious. If you are in the area, make a point of stopping by here. Review #2592

When in the area for work I knew a quick pit stop was in order. Mrs.Wicks is known for making Indianas State pie, sugar cream. This restaurant is next to their factory which you can tour. I had already had lunch so was coming in with colleagues after a meeting for coffee and pie. Which is probably good, with COVID their menu is only served between certain hours and has restrictions. Be sure to check the time before you head in expecting lunch/dinner. We got there in late afternoon (445?) And had limited pie options, "one of these, 2-slices of this, we are out of xyz". My suggestion go early if you want variety. All in all it was good. The dining room was good size. It felt pretty clean. Definitely make a stop to the cases for their "imperfect frozen pies"($2/pie), frozen noodles, naked pie crust, and rolls/breads. As a warning there is no allergy friendly options here either. As someone who avoids gluten [im sensitive, not allergic], don't expect anything GF, nut free, soy free, sugar free [they do have a reduced sugar pie], fat free etc..... its a pie place!

The facility is not overly attractive or inviting. You have to decide which door to use depending on which business you are frequenting. I didn't see any signs for the outdoor seating to direct you to the hostess. The parking lot is large with lots of spaces up close. We were here for food so we picked the door to Grains & Grill. The host was very friendly and kind. The inside looked welcoming. The journey to get to the outdoor seating was a bit of a maze. There seems to be plenty of comfortable indoor seating though it is kind of broken up in disjointed rooms. The outside area was nice. The over hang shielded us from the sun in our evening dinning hours. I found the tables to be a bit close together. There was another party next to our table so we had to be cautious about moving chairs to get situated. The outdoor chairs have a flexible plastic seat. The seat seemed to give more than made me comfortable. The chair seemed a bit flimsy. However, it was comfortable and didn't collapse on me. We started with the fried mushrooms. There were a LOT of small mushroom tips in this order. The batter was thicker and a bit mushy. There wasn't much seasoning flavor to the batter but it wasn't greasy to taste. The mushrooms seemed fresh. The dish was fairly good. The cocktail sauce had a decent amount of zip to it. My wife had the blackened fish tacos. Two came with the order. She loved the fresh taste. Definitely not a fishy taste. Delicious she said! I decided to try the Hoosier Hot Plate. It seemed like a house speciality...so why not! The tenderloin was outstanding! The pork was moist and juicy and moderately thin. The breading was nicely crunchy and moderately thick with a slight greasy taste. Maybe the best tenderloin I have ever had! The tenderloin was laid on top of a bed a real mashed potatoes. You could tell they were real by the lumps I bone smooth consistency. These were excellent as well. Just like mashed potatoes should be that were going to accent the meat. The tenderloin was topped with a creamed corn. I would have been disappointed if this creamed corn was the side dish. It was kind of bland and didn't have much of a corn taste. It was also rather mushy. I didn't think the corn added much taste to the tenderloin/mashed potato taste. Overall...it was an interesting dish that was worth a try.

Our drink order was taken, which was almost all water. Drinks came several minutes later. Orders were taken a few minutes after that. Food did take a bit but not unreasonable. At that time a few people needed more water. It took over 10 minutes before a pitcher of water was delivered to the table by someone other than our server. Bread was requested to the person bringing the water since we hadn't seen our server in nearly 15 minutes. Another 10 minutes and our server comes to check on us. She stated she didn't know about the lack of bread and blamed it on the other employee not telling her. At least another 10 minutes go by and nearly everyone is finished eating when the bread arrives. The food was good and the amount of food was good. All but me had eaten there before. 3 got the Hoosier plate, a couple had the tenderloin, a couple got burgers, and I got the Makers beef tips. All enjoyed their food and only a couple had any left to take home. The mashed potatoes were very good and a large portion. There were several ounces of meat and a good portion of green beans. The food was definitely a 4+. The service was a 2 at best. Along with the poor service, they added the optional 20% gratuity, since we had a party of 8. I knew this was possible since I read it on the menu. Most of the party did not. It was noted on the ticket but it was put very close to the other charges. For some, it was not noticeable. I understand the reasoning behind the charge but if the business isn't crowded and the servers aren't working excessively, I don't believe it's justified. In this instance, it may have led to poorer service since the server knew she'd be getting 20% no matter what.

The ingredients are top quality and the chef really knows his stuff. I enjoyed one of the best pork chops ever, thick and juicy with a little pink as requested. Every bite had that little bit of crisp, little bit of fat, just right on the seasoning. My husband raved about his filet mignon which looked awesome. Pics included! Decor is a western feel, simple and understated. Lighting is just right. The whole place had a fresh and clean feel to it. There was some low volume Pandora or similar music feed of the classic light rock persuasion. Service was well above average and everything was so delicious. Check the little logo "branded" on the dinner rolls. We took home a bit of leftover which our waitress Lori kindly boxed up, and grabbed two slices of the pie of the day (German Chocolate) which we polished off at home. Most Thursdays there is prime rib and I'll be calling ahead on that on another Thursday in the not too distant future. But I get the impression that everything on the menu will be excellent. What a great addition to this area! Thank you TJ.
