You can work out in a group or on an individual bases. Music is a major factor for me and she also fullfills my need of work out and jam to tunes. Now my fiancé and I wanted to get in shape for our wedding next year and we knew we had to start now. I chose PE fitness studio because it had the ambiance I wanted, a comfortable setting to work out that was a typical gym. They host small group classes and one on ones, so you won't catch some creep in a machine in the corner slowly moving while staring at you. Perfect. Not looking to go to a gym. I need someone to motivate me to not quit and just sit there. Laurel suggested we start with 20 half hour sessions with me and my fiancé. I couldn't commit so I agreed on 15 but will definitely be buying more. She motivates me by chatting me up about my favorite topics to get me forget about the agonizing pain in my butt as I squat across the room. You think 30 mins isn't a lot, but when you mix in cardio and the deathly push ups, trust me, it is. Laurel is a sweetheart and doesn't let me quit! The other day she threatened me with burpees if I tried to cheat on my across the room squats, aka I ran halfway across the room when she wasn't looking! Laurel is a sweetheart and soooooo flexible with scheduling. I 100% suggest one on one training with her. It's pricier than a gym but let's be honest, you weren't going to the gym. You're less likely to cancel when you have a wonderful sweet woman waiting on you!!! Did I mention she has an adorable pit bull puppy and she texts me photos of him all the time??? Because she does! She also checks in the next day to see how you're doing. This warm renovated mill Is the best place to force yourself to do something that we all know I 100% don't want to do! Join join join!!!!! The best part of being a member of the YMCA in New England is that you can utilize any branch…read more This YMCA is in an older building in downtown Pawtucket; it can be a bit tricky to find your way around. For example, the women's locker room is in the bottom floor, the main workout area is split into two floors- the lower level is strength training and weights, the upper level is cardio machines. It's not fancy, not brand new and shiny, but it gets the job done. There are small lockers in the upper workout area to store your jacket or purse. There are only two (2) things that really bother me about this particular Y. - There are only four (4) elliptical machines. That's it. So there's a wait sometimes. -The front desk attendants aren't particularly friendly. I've gotten some comments about the fact that I don't belong to this particular Y, never gotten a smile or a "hello" upon entering the building, and when I've asked for help finding places within the building, the attendant acted as though I was stupid and that helping me was not her job. A nicer front desk would go far to making this a Y that I would recommend to others. But right now, go if you have to, if it's convenient, and only if you don't mind mediocre customer service at best.

They aren't some greedy corporate business looking to take every penny from you. It's a family run business that look to provide the best services for you. When I was inquiring about a membership, they guy didn't try to sell me on it at all. He just went over what they offer and gave me everything I needed and told me that I could go home and think about it and just to come back if I was interested or to call if I had any further questions. I went back the next morning and there was a different guy working the counter. He was a riot. He walked me through the gym again like I requested and he was just a total hoot. He really made me feel welcome. I was very impressed by how family oriented this place felt. The workers knew the members names when they walked in. Everyone got an acknowledgement. I really like the feel for this place. They don't have annual fees or start up fees for their membership. (Like I said they really aren't trying to screw you in any way possible) I can't wait to really utilize this facility. I'm excited!

Sensei Rui has been training my daughter for three years now. He is old-school martial arts, the…read morereal thing. He cares about his students. Yes it is a business, but a business that is built on integrity, loyalty and professionalism. He doesn't hand out lollipops to the kids and adults in this dojo. He doesn't want to just take your money and turn out a student that thinks they know what to do but really doesn't. He wants the outcome to be faultless. He trains his students to be respectful of the practice. My daughter loves him and doesn't want to miss any classes - she goes to training 4x a week and loves it. It's a second family to her. Her confidence has immensely improved, and she is jacked now from all the hard work. She has placed first multiple times in her age category at martial arts tournaments under his tutelage. He has infinite patience when needed, but tough love when called for. This school and Mr. Rodrigues is no joke; he is very capable and competent. You will be hard pressed to find another instructor that is as competent and caring as Sensei Rui.

The kbox and bag classes here are amazing!!! You won't get a better workout. I absolutely love it!read more
