They do NOT observe the state-mandated mask policy. There have a sign on the door. That is about it. Most of the people take their masks off and no one kicks them out or even says anything. Signed up at Norwood location in December, so-called "cleaning fee" of $59.99 charged in mid-January. Shortly thereafter, I just so happened to find out about the location move to Canton when a personal trainer called to offer the new member free personal training session. Received the call on Wed or Thurs, club closed on following Sunday. NO posted notifications until only a couple days prior to the move, only saw them AFTER the phone call. Would've been nice if they gave members the courtesy of at least 30 days notice like THEY expect to get. I signed up for THAT SPECIFIC location, not Canton. I was able to cancel, but they refuse to refund the "cleaning fee," even though the company knew very well that they were moving when I signed up and conveniently neglected to mention it. I see from other reviews here that this is clearly a regular practice for these people, and it looks like they've been getting away with it. Talk about unfair and predatory business practices! Totally in willful violation of Massachusetts Consumer Protection Laws. Pretty disgusting, my advice is STAY AWAY. Go to another gym. read more

I called the first time it happened & the "supervisor" explained how it was an Error on their part & how they can't give me my $ back but they can credit me a few free months at the gym & how I wont be charged for my membership for 4 months which was a lie! The Bellingham WOW has undergone a remarkable transition since COVID disrupted things a year ago and I stopped going. It had been seriously run down and in need of attention. I came back after getting fully vaccinated to find the whole place renovated and now getting thoroughly cleaned daily. It looks like a different gym. What a great surprise. Wow, indeed. The locker rooms, bathrooms and showers are completely new and look great. The cleaning staff seems diligent and hard working and as a result the machines, floors, and carpets are also spotlessly clean. Even the duct work up at the ceiling, once covered in what seemed like years worth of dust, got cleaned over the break, much to my relief as it had bothered me. The only things that still bothers me are the leaks during rain storms. I think the landlord should step up and fix the roof. Their COVID precautions seem satisfactory, temperatures taken upon entry and masks required at all times, and I'm happy to be back exercising again in an impressively remodeled gym. read more

Prior to the pandemic starting, I would probably have given this gym 3 stars. It's by no means a luxury gym, but if you're just looking for the cheapest gym around it's more than adequate especially with the renovations they recently did. I honestly didn't have an issue until gyms reopened in July, because no one in this gym wears a GD mask. The weight room is constantly packed to the gills, and the cardio machines that are "out of order" are still plugged in, so there's no stopping people from continuing to use them, which they do. I've left mid-workout several times due to the number of people not wearing masks, and I've complained, and they've been warned at least once by the health department, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. I've never once seen someone told to put their mask up despite that being the stated policy. At this point I'm considering just cancelling and getting dumbbells to work out at home. I wanted to believe gyms could reopen safely, but it's places like this that are going to ruin it for everyone. read more

This is a great gym with tons of equipment. There are so many different machines for each body part that you never really have to wait and can swap out every few weeks to put some variety in your workouts. It also has plenty of free weights and benches. The gym is very clean, and the (men's) locker room is immaculate, with lots of lockers, private shower spaces, and a private bathroom. The rubber floors in the gym area are a bit worn but well kept. Probably 30 treadmills and a huge variety of other cardio equipment. I've never seen this area close to being full, even during the busiest times. There's tons of parking and a nutrition/supplement shop in the same plaza. The staff is excellent! Donna, the General Manager, is very friendly and attentive. Addison, who always seems to be there, is great too. Personally, I've never had any billing issues, and I've been there, on and off, for over ten years. You can't beat it for such a low monthly cost, IMO. read more

This is a good, clean gym. The cardio equipment always works and having your own TV and headphone jack is a nice bonus. However, I signed up for a membership with the promise that it would be easy to cancel when I left for college. No commitment, they said. Cancelling isn't a problem, they said. After being a member for a few months and utilizing it more often, I wanted to update my review. Overall, I'm still more satisfied with this gym than any other I've been a member at - from extremely expensive gyms, to Planet Fitness. The only classes I've taken are spinning which I really enjoy. You do have to get there very early to sign up for them (30 min before), but it's like that at every gym. I like that there class schedule has something for almost everyone - a big variety and all hours of the day. The negatives are that it's often REALLY crowded to the point of making me uncomfortable. Sometimes, it's extremely humid in the gym. And, as someone else mentioned, the parking lot is poorly lit. It's not scary or anything, but there should be more lighting. read more

I signed up for this gym a couple weeks before it opened. There was a gym there before, but it closed about 2 years ago. I signed up for the $19.95/month package because it offered a few extras that were important to me. I am able to bring a guest an unlimited number of times, and drinks in the cooler would be half priced. At the old gym in that lot, they had a very large cooler with about 20 different kinds of drinks, and I like to drink when I work out. When WOW opened up, they had no coolers so I was anxiously awaiting that addition because that was half of why I am spending an extra $10 a month. When they finally added drinks, they added 2 vending machines, and a cooler with just water in it. This is all they have to this date which is very aggravating because the water is all I get half off. They offer many many classes, have a spacious changing room, lots of machines, lots of free weights, every cardio machine has it's own monitor. and lots of variety. My favorite part of the gym is a cardio machine that is like an elliptical, but it has an Ipod hookup. I can watch movies and TV shows that I have on my Ipod, on the TV screen. I enjoyed the gym until I had to cancel to move. They continually charged me, and lost multiple inquiries of my cancellations. I was also signed up for the wrong plan and was not refunded due to "lack of evidence" of my cancellation and request to change the plan. I guess calling the manager and them telling me they will take care of it wasn't enough. On top of that they left me a voicemail which apparently doesn't count as evidence. Redwood Personal Training @ WOW. Started PT couple months ago. Getting results I never got in all my years exercising and going to gyms in terms of muscle gain. Was always very thin even when weightlifting, used to get stronger but not bigger. Got real out of shape and have already dropped 15lbs and getting ripped by following the weight lifting regimen along with PT lead boxing and circuit training classes. Group classes include nutrition and talk about it consistently during one on one sessions. Can't beat the value of the gym and the PT. WOW Bellingham keeps equipment and bathrooms running and clean. They advertised $1 down and $10 a month, however in the small print there is an annual charge of $49.99 they call a rate lock to keep the $10 a month. That fee is non returnable if you leave before the end of the year, its not really $1 down $10 a month. I was going to sign both my teenagers up, $20 a month is ok, but I don't want to pay a $100 on top of that as they most likely won't stick at it. According to there terms and conditions there is also a $50 cancelation fee, so there is a commitment. read more

I hate this gym so much, that I walked out half way through my last workout and drove to the nearest planet fitness, where I signed up and completed my workout in a clean, friendly environment. When I signed up for WOW, I was told I would pay $10/month, with no obligations, and a yearly charge of $60. The price has increased multiple times with out notice, the first of which being a dollar access fee every month to use other locations. I have never used, nor plan to ever use, other locations but there is no way to opt out of this fee. I don't feel I should be forced into this, especially with no notice before a price increase. Cancelling a membership is hell. You can't cancel in store and have to send a letter of notice, which took months to finally be seen and acknowledged. As far as the gym itself; the kids area has a wall with a huge cut out hole, separating it from the gym. The constant screaming and crying, as well as children who somehow escape and roam free are really irritating. The gym is so packed at times that you can barely move, and have to wait in line for machines. They definitely need to create and enforce a max capacity. The gym is for the most part clean, but the staff is inattentive. They employ mainly teenagers who spend more time socializing than assisting guests, and are completely ignorant of the equipment in the gym. I once had to explain what a BOSU ball was to one of the staff members when I asked if there were any available. Most recently, they painted during open hours with absolutely no notice. I showed up To workout and had to go through a maze of painters to get to any equipment. The fumes made me ill, and I couldn't get a workout in for days while they completed the project. When I asked what times the painting would be happening and for how long, the girl working the desk told she didn't know and everyone who would know was too busy for her to ask. It would have been nice to at least know when they were painting so I could schedule my workouts around this inconvenience. Or they could have closed for half of the day during slow hours and painted then, rather than suffocating guests. I'm giving them the 2 stars because their equipment works and they at least try to clean the gym. read more

I have had many stressful experiences with this work out world and with other work out worlds in the area. The contract with personal training is awful and although they have a few great trainers, the overall customer service is not worth it. The gym membership itself is cheap and you get what you pay for with the cleanliness and vibe at this facility. I've dealt with a handful of billing mistakes over the past year that take hours to resolve. I have been billed for things I have cancelled. I cancelled my personal training contract instead of renewing it and the next month I saw 300 dollars charged to my credit card. It took 6 phone calls, 3 texts, and a couple emails to resolve this and get a refund. The old manager Anna was so rude to me. She acted as if the issues I brought up to her were an annoyance and made me feel small and insignificant. You are better off using a planet fitness if you need a budget friendly gym. read more

well, the location is clean, usually.. I have been to this location at many different times of the day and have found it to be a mess in the hours following 3pm. however the gym looks great early in the morning. So now i only go before work when its at its cleanest. otherwise i find paper towels all over the floor, a messy locker room, hardly any sanitizer to clean the machines dirty floors etc.. the ceiling is often leaking, sometimes on machines. they have a suggestion box but they never seem to implement any of the suggestions. platinum members get half off cooler beverages which means you pay $1 for a water rather than $2 wish they would have a variety of beverages in the cooler, otherwise you pay full price at the vending machines. this location is 24 hours which is great! staff is usually very friendly and helpful, if you can find them, usually you will find them in a room behind the desk using their cell phones, this is especially true later at night.. I usually arrive at 530am and i am more often than any other time of the day greeted by a friendly staff member.. several times i went to the gym after dinner to find staff members just hanging around the desk using cell phones when the cleanliness of the gym has suffered.. If i report a problem in the gym to the person at the desk in the morning he typically takes care of it right away. I dont know but it seems like they are often over staffed and under managed, they should have a manager there during all open hours period. the parking lot is always dark in the am they turn them off way to early i was almost hit as a car turned the corner once... also if it snows the gym is usually open however wear boots as it typically isnt plowed out that early. they have cameras through out the gym which is kind of odd i understand the necessity at the front door but why do they need to watch me work out? i usually tan easily or at least burn easily but i never seem to get any tanner in their tanning booths. pros: a tv to each piece of cardio a few tvs around the free weight area day care group classes showers for ladies a womens only area cons poorly maintained building poorly lit parking lot poor staffing choices/high school kids that dont actually work no WIFI people can watch you on a camera gross dirty floor poor tanning booths suggestions for the manager 1 get the day staff to do their jobs I've seen like 5 or 6 people there at any time not doing anything 2 have a manager/ asst manager on location at all times. 3 keep lights on in parking lot, get WIFI, Loose the cameras read more

Completely evil company ABC Financial, hides behind workout world, and will do whatever it takes to steal money from you. In order to cancel my membership in the first place, they do everything they can to prevent that. Not in the "Hey, what if we can make you a special offer to stay.." type of way, but the, "Oh, you've gotta talk to the manager...they're not here. Call back tomorrow." Then, :"Oh, we can't do that over the phone, you have to come in." "Oh, the managers not here, you'll have to come back another day. " Ok, you caught the manager on her time there and cancelled...wait....no you didn't....THIS cancellation doesn't count. Contact our other company (ABC Financial) and call them at this number. THEN, ok, the phone call doesn't cancel it, we need 30 days written notice.... WTF. They continued withdrawing money from my account. When told, they said "sorry, no refunds." They referenced the contract, which, yes, does have that 30 days BS clause. BUT, the CANCELLATION FORM says 30 days notice OR this CANCELLATION REQUEST. Well, been fighting them for 2 weeks now because they can't read their own contracts they had me sign. All in all, it's not the gym that I have any issue with, it's purely the BS Financial company, and the attitude of a company that it's completely OK to steal from your customers, frustrate them as much as possible, and just be the absolute worst you can be. If you have any value or appreciation for customer service...or even, "Don't be Maliciously Evil to Customers", then spend your money elsewhere. OH, and last thing that always bugged me. If you're going here to work out and that is it, this is the gym to go to. Although staff is friendly when approached, no one is focused enough to do their job correctly. In my first check in at WOW, I was told there were no more cards at that time and that I would have to manually check in for the next few visits. I never received any "package" at sign up, no shirt, or tour, or anything. Not that I would want to wear a shirt to flaunt this establishment after a few months. Just like any other gym (even though advertised differently) you are tied in to yet another contract and I am so disgusted with the gym its self that I'm paying them to work out at my house. My first red flag came in the biggest form of dust possible, a friend and I were working on the bikes and the fans above us started dropping mass amounts of dust on to us. Dust bunnies on sweat, not something I ever want to encounter again. This is also definitely the type of gym that people come just to flex their muscles and hang out at strength machines. There have been multiple times when dropping something off at the trash, the people spraying the sanitizer don't hesitate to spray it right out in the open and in your face. Every month I deal with their "financial" offices that call and decline my card when there is well over $20.00 in my account. $40.00 is then taken out of my account that they couldn't take the $20.00 out of and could cause some sort of suspension. I came here to say what I wanted to say, it is impossible to get in touch with management, I have called and waited, asked for an email address (since none is listed online) and I will have to continue to deal with this burden of a business until someone gets back to me. read more

I was about to sign up until I read this in the small print: "An Annual Membership Rate Guarantee Fee of $49.99 will be drafted on the 15th of the month following the month of enrollment and will be drafted annually on that date for the life of the membership" A "membership rate guarantee fee???? This doesn't surprise me as I had a bad experience with WOW when they were in Worcester. They make it very difficult to quit., and the sales experience when I signed up was like buying a used car. The gym itself is fine, and the total cost is fair in itself, but I was burned once, so not again. I've been a member at Gold's and World Gyms for years and found myself switching between the gyms because I was frustrated with one or more services. My husband joined WOW over one year ago and frequently uses the Waltham, MA location. I decided to look into WOW in Bellingham even though it is a longer drive than I like from my Milford home. I absolutely love this gym. First of all, I like being able to tan and workout in one location...very convenient. Secondly, I see plenty of staff whenever I go and the staff are usually busy. I've personally witnessed cleaning of the equipment, bathrooms, straightening of common areas, etc. At Gold's and World, staffing was always a problem, especially when it came to the child care room. I must comment on the fact that EVERY piece of cardio eqiupment has a tv and there are a decent selection of channels. World Gym in Milford definitely does not have a tv on each and every piece of cardio eqiupment, the channel selections are fair and the pieces of cardio facing the wall are forced to watch four overheard large screen tvs that are set to pre-set channels. Overall, for the monthly fee and extent of services offered, I am extremely satisfied. read more

I joined this gym 1 mth ago and I love the wide range of classes they offer. The instructors are wondrful, they are very motivational and they push you to do your best. BUt, the building is a mess the roof leaks which has caused major problems arobics classes, the floor gets slippery and wet. The staff trys to keep up with the leaks by mopping the floors, what a shame. After my 1 mth membership I went to workout and the building was closed down by the building inspector ****WOW** how can this happen! read more

I joined because it seemed affordably priced. $10 per month plus $10 for the classes plus $10 for child care. My son is 8 years old. The childcare is geared toward toddlers. My son was bored and after 5 visits he didn't want to come in with me anymore. Being a full time single parent this is huge. I don't want to make him go just so I can workout. Its difficult to get a neighbor to watch him and paying a sitter makes this far from cost effective to get a workout in 3-4 times per week. It ruins the experience. I give it one star because there was no understanding to my need to immediately cancel the membership and not get charged the yearly $60 fee. The annual fee is conveniently charge three weeks into the membership and you have to give 30 days notice to quit. There is no trial period outside of the 3 days the state requires. Therefore, it will cost me $120 to cancel the membership due which equals $21 per visit. I surrendered my key when I gave my cancellation. I will not be going back. If find the timing of the yearly free unacceptable for someone who hasn't even worked out there for a full year to have to incur the cost so soon into the membership. Its clearly a money making scheme to collect as much as possible before you cancel. read more

Scam! I was a member for two years and did the free personal training session. After that, I signed up for two times a month, just to keep me honest and hopefully stay on track. The first session, the trainer was 15 minutes late to a 30 minute session... After that initial session, I cancelled my monthly subscription and put the sessions on hold due to an injury. When I went back to use the additional three I had paid for, the trainer didn't even show up. She "had it in her calendar wrong." Now, two years later, I am getting harassed daily via text messages, phone calls, and emails about a past due balance. I called to resolve and they told me to contact the actual location. I did and sent proof of my cancelled membership, from my claim with BBB of how horrible they are, and the manager of the Personal training department told me he had cleared my account. Months later, I am again fed up with annoying calls and emails, I call the main number and she informs me he has never cleared my charges even though I have written proof of said transaction. Don't join. They will nickel and dime you and scam you until you pay made up fees and charges. read more

The only good thing about this place is opening 24 hours. Staff are never friendly. Locker room is always dirty and smell. Equipments are ok, nothing special. Sometimes some people made a lot of noise while working out and never been told to tune it down and became annoying. One time there was a big argument between people who making noise and who does not. Staff always talking to a bunch of girls at the front who seem like not coming to exercise or being on the computer all the time. Look like no one care to work here. Sad ! read more

Look, every gym has its issues and you can't please everyone. I've been to very expensive gyms and to reasonably priced gyms. This gym is clean, there are a variety of classes to choose from and the equipment is well maintained. I've read people's reviews complaining that they were not shown how to use the equipment or that the instructors do pay attention to the new comers....Speak up people...if you want help, ask for it. This is not a baby sitting facility and perhaps the staff is not wanting to single you out. The instructors are pleasant and if you ask them for modified moves, they'll give them to you. Originally, they were great and deferred her membership for 5 months. In July this year, she called to cancel her membership and was told she was under contract to pay until December. We elected to keep the membership and use the Gym. At no time was there a mention of a "Price Lock fee" of $40 that would be charged on her original anniversary. Today, we called and Thomas @ extension 1145 informed us they cannot refund any charges already collected for the contract. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he put me on hold. I have been on hold now for 30 minutes. Think they really want to speak to me? My recommendation....find a better organization. read more

First off, the price of the wow membership can't be beat. But as they say, you pay for what you get. This gym needs major renovations. I know that members pay $10 or $20 per month. But you have enough members to afford to fix the never ending leaks in the various ceilings throughout the gym. The carpets are horrendous and why is there duck tape on the floors. At the very least I think new floor mats can be purchased..they are gross! I know I can wipe them off or bring my own but sometimes it's convenient to use the mat at the gym. The parking lot is in severe disrepair and the parking is not clearly marked with lines. My first day there as a guest the staff called the police and had my car ticketed. After asking why they would do that and to show me where the parking begins and ends they told me the lines were too faded to see but you should know. "10.00 a month, NO CONTRACT! NO FEES!" -- be warned, this is a lie. I had to sign a contract for a year minimum (no contract?), there was an annual 64.00 fee that was charged automatically (no fees?) and they charged my account 11.00 a month (10.00 per month?). I also had numerous occasions where I would check my statement and they would have charged 24.95 randomly. When I spoke to someone there, they said these were "administrative fees". I would complain and they said they could "forward the charge as credit", but what if I hadn't caught them? They also don't handle the billing on-site so you have to go through some mazes to cancel your subscriptions. I signed up for WOW about 4 months ago and made myself a platinum member. My goal is to get healthier and loose some weight. I think it is a great deal that you can bring a guess due to the fact that I excuse with my fiancé ever time. It is a pain when we go and they ask for his license 90% of the time and have to sign in everyday. Also you get free tanning with the platinum membership. My complaint with the tanning is that I like the tanning booth in the girls locker room, but every time I use it, it doesn't stay on. I will get undress And wait for it to turn on. Then it will work for maybe half the time I put in for and shut off. I know I can use the other one, I just feel more comfortable in that one. (Which apparently it's stated at the bottom). After being charge for two months and an annual fee(conveniently) after I have already canceled my membership. I am now being told I have to contact financial company personally. When I filled out the form to cancel i asked is there anything else I need to do, I was told no. Though it might be my fault for not reading the bottom of the form, I work in retail and even when the customer is wrong they are right. Instead of him saying "I'm sorry about...." I was told "oh I read everything I sign"..... It's not about what you do it's about your customer. I went back to this gym because I had a great experience the first time, now I realize how crappy they can treat their customers. I have been a member of WOW for about two years now. While the Bellingham WOW is my "home base", I have also visited the Waltham and Taunton locations and can tell you they are significantly cleaner and kept up. Over the past year, the WOW Bellingham location has gone extremely downhill. For starters, the signage on the outside of the building has begun falling off and currently reads "ork orld" rather than "Work Out World". Second, there has been three occasions since the start of 2016 that the gym has lost power and not notified customers via social media, email or text. Doctors offices and hair salons notify people via mass-messaging, I feel as if the gym should be able to acquire this technology to ensure their customers time is not wasted driving to and from the gym during such instances. I understand that power loss is out of the control of the owners/managers, however, backup generators should be put in place, especially for a 24HR gym. Half of the TVs on the cardio equipment do not work. The cleanliness of the gym is a growing problem, so much so I have debated calling the board of health. If you look along the bottom of the walls and corners of the ceilings you will find cobwebs galore. The yoga mats need to be replaced, strictly for sanitary reasons, I doubt they have replaced them since opening this location. For people who pay for the premium package, the tanning beds are a great bonus, however, the quality of UV light bulbs is equivalent to trying to catch a tan fully clothed in the winter, not to mention I don't think they have ever been cleaned!!! Again, for those paying for the premium membership, the ceiling in the room where group classes are held has been leaking for MONTHS and is only growing in the number of leaky areas. If you take a class, you will have to exercise around trash buckets collecting the water. On non-snowy/rainy days, it does not seem to leak however this has been an ongoing issue... is the ceiling going to collapse while class is being held? The cell service inside WOW is subpar and for that reasoning, free wifi should be available to customers. Many people enjoy streaming music while they work out, however, it is impossible to do so due to the fact they do not offer wifi. Lastly, myself and many other members have discussed how the staff at WOW Bellingham need to do a little less gossiping and gathering at the front desk and pay a little more attention to the facility. The employees have made several customers feel uncomfortable, judged and criticized. WOW Bellingham would truly have no customers if it was not for convenience and low cost monthly membership. However, I believe that with the yearly membership fee and monthly fee, each of these concerns should be addressed immediately.
