We knew when it came to the food, we wanted 1) a farm-to-table experience with pure, delicious, locally-sourced ingredients, 2) an elegant but down-to-earth seasonal menu, and 3) plenty of options for our vegan and celiac guests as well as our meat-lovers. Bonus points if our caterers were a pure pleasure to work with. The instant we spoke to Jake about our day, we knew we hit the jackpot. From the beginning, it felt like working with a friend. Jake was open, flexible, professional and generally awesome. Since we planned our wedding in about 10 weeks, I can't tell you what a load off it was to have the catering piece taken care of. Jake and the team were super on-point and helpful with our semi-DIY plans, and they couldn't have been friendlier through the entire process. Oh! And the food was SO good, SO perfect to what we envisioned and our guests have had nothing but highest compliments. I often get cravings for that meal... just delicious. As a side note, before we met in person we visited the Wheelhouse truck at the Amherst Farmer's Market in an impromptu detour and the team was so warm and welcoming to us, having us sample their amazing arepas and chatting with us about our upcoming plans. I'm old school from the 1990s from the days of chicken pucks and pastabilities. The meal plan was so bad then I had to get medically excused from it. So I was talked into eating breakfast at the Berkshire Dining Commons which was, in fact, the closest dining commons to my dorm in southwest and where I used to eat. Obviously it has been redone and what I saw inside was kind of amazing. Several kinds of cereal, fancy coffee machine and soda fountains, fresh fruit, and an omelet station! What? An omelet station? Yes, you hand-picked your ingredients and people made you an omelet with it. Shocking! I might understand its because we are in a fan zone and the number of people is overwhelming but I believe an extra person or 2 should have been added to avoid such issue. Last weekend, we attended my cousin's 60th birthday bash in Rhode Island. Her partner and sister…read morehosted the event and used Shuckin' Truck (along with two other caterers) to provide the food. The party was held outdoors in their pretty yard under a tent. Shuckin Truck was an absolute hit! They set up the outdoor raw bar...clams (littlenecks), oysters, and shrimp on ice, in a very attractive manner. The table was manned by a charming "shucker". There were an assortment of passed hors d'oeuvres which included lobster grilled cheese lobster triangles...these were indescribably delicious. Everyone was oohing and aahing over these. I also loved the smoked salmon on toast and the small cups of really tasty clam chowder. All the appetizers were incredibly delicious although I would say the lobster grilled cheese was the biggest hit. All of the staff were polite and friendly. After the appetizer round, the lobster rolls came out and they were simply spectacular. They were true New England lobster rolls on toasted square edged (this is key) frankfurter buns, and absolutely stuffed with chunks of delicious lobster meat that had been lightly dressed with mayo. Those rolls were out of this world, deliciously prepared and very generously filled with sweet lobster meat. They also served fabulous fish tacos. For the non-seafood eaters of which there were none at this party, they served a pulled pork taco which was spicy and delicious. The portions were generous and the food just kept on coming out. While there was plenty of additional food at this party from other vendors as well as some homemade additions, Shuckin' Truck was my favorite part of the overall feast. Great job! I would not hesitate to hire them for a party or to seek out the food truck wherever it was parked!
