I had this before a few months back but was craving it again and was it in the area so it was perfect. This cost about $12 and my mom and I shared it so it's definitely a good portion size. I do wish one of the components had a unique taste to it because I find that each bite taste the same so it can get repetitive. But don't get me wrong, it's still delicious. The white sauce to me almost taste as if ranch and sour cream had a baby and the spicy sauce is very spicy so I would be cautious as to how much you ask for. The place is very clean, the staff is kind, and they have outdoor seating. For some reason it doesn't hit the same way when you get it in New York at their original cart. It was decent but it didn't hit... asked for an extra pack of hot sauce, she wanted to charge me $0.75. Really? Idk... if you're giving two big bags of white sauce, I would think it would come with two hot sauce, also. I always get the regular chicken platter with fresh chicken, some veggies, the pita and their signature white sauce, which is delicious. They also have a hot sauce, but I only get a drop of it. Unfortunately, there are so many things that are just not right about this location. We asked for a few DROPS of the hot sauce, and they proceeded to slather our plate in it. Luckily, we are ok with spicy, but it was a little excessive. It was a bit pricey for the amount of food you actually get, but it is what it is. The falafel was dry and average - nothing to write home about. Here comes the bad part...we both ended up so sick that night and all through the next day. Not sure if it was due to the bucket of spicy sauce that we had just eaten, or a cleanliness issue, but we will not be returning anytime soon. The rice was cooked well, the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh, and the pita was soft and warm, though a very small portion. The falafel was average, nothing special and on the dry side. They're not cooked hot to order, but already cooked and just sitting in a metal serving dish waiting for plating. My colleagues liked their shawarma platter (regular $9.99), but as a vegetarian, the only option was falafel (small $8.99). Also, I asked for "just a tiny bit" of white sauce. The guy started squirting it on strong and I stopped him to say, "just a little bit, that's enough." Didn't matter. He kept going. Too much for my liking. And if this is his idea of a tiny bit, I would never want the full amount. Good thing I insisted on "seriously, just a tiny bit" of the hot sauce, because that stuff has kick! I heard about this place in New York City called Halal Guys, but I never got to try it until I found about this location right in Boston. First thing I noticed is that the menu is super simple. I can respect that. Choose sandwich or platter, and your choice of protein. I got a beef gyro platter. Service was super fast and we were in and out in 3 minutes. The gyro was pretty good. Savory and plentiful. The rice was also cooked very well and delightfully seasoned. Finally, the white sauce brought the whole platter together nicely. Portion size is good - I felt full at the end. It was a nice meal, but it was pretty pricey. Granted, this is in downtown Boston where everything is pricey. Would I drive all the way into the city to get it again? No. Do I think it's worth the money? Potentially... Is it still good food? I'd say so. Compared to other Mediterranean places, I think they are better than Chicken and Rice Guys. Maybe not as good as Garbanzo Fresh. And also not as good as Naf Naf (from the Chicagoland region). read more

Location is small but very busy since it's located right by the nightclub scene. We stopped by around 10:30 pm and the line was pretty long. The employees were all friendly and talkative since they knew my friend.. It was my first time in, so I was excited to see what they had to offer. I had the mixed platter, which turned out to be a pile of fluffy yellow rice, some lettuce and tomato, a dollop of white sauce and a huge pile of both beef and chicken, topped with a garlic sauce and a barbecue sauce. And a very little bit of their hot sauce which is HOT, then half of a pita cut into triangles. A very large portion and less than $12 with drink. It's perfect lunch food, high in protein and not too much carbs if you go light on the rice. And it's delicious. This is a small spot with a few seats inside and a few tables outside. You need to get here before 11:40 because the queue gets long. It moves quickly but you can end up waiting 20 or more minutes if it's just out the door. Longer is the queue has turned to the right and starts to go down the block. It's that good. Look for the red and yellow awnings. And the line. read more

Here's what I ordered and my thoughts: 1) regular combo platter. comes with chicken and gyro, rice, lettuce&tomatoes, and pits bread. i usually dont like adding other toppings to it.. you can if you'd like. I think the basics are beyond enough. get some white sauce on it, YUM and beware--- this is the spiciest red sauce ever! delicious! 2) french fries. idk what it is, but Halal Guys FRESH french fries hit differently. Food has been fresh and of consistent quality. Usually get the small combo of chicken and falafel which comes with warm rice, pita and salad. Add white and hot sauce and this meal will hit the spot. They do have additional toppings for an upcharge that range from baba ghanoush, tabbouleh to diced onions and jalapeno. I have also seen a special menu item being featured - most recently burrito's. I suppose my expectations were set too high by the original cart in NY? The food here is fine - not bad by any means, but also not something I'll be craving anytime soon. I ordered the small for $9 and my bf got the large for $10. I think the price is a tad too high for what you get. And just a heads up that the extra $1 for the large only gets you more lettuce and rice - not additional meat. It also creeps me out that they hand out packages of white sauce. Reading earlier reviews, it looks like this may be because they used to charge for extra sauce. If so, I highly commend the decision to stop doing that (charging for extra sauce at Halal Guys?! That's absurd). But so is getting a weird dressing-like package for something that you're used to seeing come fresh out of a bottle. The overly commercialized feel and taste just don't hit the spot like the original. In the end, I'm happy to finally see a Halal Guys in Boston. The chicken plate is like Chernobyl in a nice way. By themselves, each ingredient doesn't create a spectacle. The chicken's flavor is a thong. Barely there. The rice is flavored but isn't seasoned. Veggies are veggies. Pickled jalapenos are a nice snack but not a meal. But put all these things together and KABLAMMO! I don't even need the white sauce. Get the hot sauce. The hot sauce is like radiation burn but they won't use a whole lot unless you really push them. They'll give you one measly little stripe at first and put the bottle back. "Could I get some more, please?" I normally get a look that says "oh, tough guy eh? All righty then." *squirt* "More than that, please." The look gets more intense, like a mother who just found out that her son is joining the Army. *cautious squirt like she is soldering a circuit* "One more, please." Now there are full-blown tears in her eyes and she is begging me to think twice about how my actions will affect those who love me and my asshole. *squirt with hands shaking* "Perfect! Thanks!" This is all necessary, though. When ingredients are fresh, you don't want to hide it with heavy white sauce. You want to enhance it. I want dry ingredients with a light coating of life. I don't want doogh soup. Tang, heat, and salt enhances mild ingredients and the hot sauce has all of those. With either the pickled jalapeños or the black olives as a side (at least one of these is a must), you have enough natural saltiness available if you need it. The jalapeños are hot too so if you're fine with your dumper looking like reactors 3 and 4, crunch into those from time to time. You have a lot of wiggle room to create the balance of flavors that you want with a mild base to build on. I'm a fan and I'll keep coming back for lunch. read more

Located in the busy city of Boston, I quickly jumped out of the car as I stopped in for some quick grab and go orders of the combo meal that they offered. With some families outside and inside enjoying their meals, I knew that I had come at a good time. Lucky me I was able to get there before a line formed behind me ordering my meals. The combo is the best of both worlds with both lamb and beef on top of veggies and rice before being drenched in their white sauce that they are known for. Sadly they were still cooking lamb but that meant that I would have a fresh batch of the delicious meat right off the grill. I grabbed a couple of red sauce packages for my daring friend that wanted to experience some heat for the day. The location was clean and well maintained, I hope that the place is kept clean as the rowdy culture of the Boston nightlife kicks in. I have been to Halal guys in three different states and want to say that this one is my favorite. The two stars is only for the rice, I love rice and halal guys makes it pretty good. The rest I wasnt to happy with. I ordered the bowl, came with rice, a good amount of tomato and lettuce with chicken. I added the white sauce a small amount of hot sauce which is very spicy, also for 50cents extra I added some kalamata olives, any additional toppings is extra. The chicken was flavorless it was so bad I really didnt enjoy this meal at all. The only thing that saved this meal was the rice and the white sauce. It's not often I get to come to the East Coast mainly NY or BOS and I loooooove Halal Guys! So I saw that there was one here in Boston so I had to hit them up! After reading some reviews on yelp about this location I was skeptical but my craving overpowered my skepticism and I had a pleasant experience! As usual I ordered my Combo Platter with Chicken and Beef Gyro Meat! Love all the different colors that go into the platter! The fresh herby orange rice, to the crisp iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and Onion, with the two choices of meat! I was a little disappointed in the amount of white sauce initially lathered over my plate... it quickly ran out half way through and wanted to get more but the line was long and they were busy! Before I left though I grabbed an extra packet of white sauce for my to go plate! The meats were perfectly cooked and not dry as was mentioned in previous posts! Any words of advice I could leave with you is to drench your plate in white sauce and a few drops of red sauce! Simple, fast and cheap but enough about me ;) Jokes aside, this is a great spot for a no-frills but flavorful food experience. The ingredients are simple but well made and the prices reflect that. The people are nice enough and they deliver speedy service. They aren't stingy with the sauces which is REALLY REALLY appreciated, especially with everyone making cuts everywhere. They haven't changed from pre-pandemic and that is a huge bonus in my eye. I went here recently to grab a quick meal. I ordered the chicken platter which came with chicken, pita bread slices, shredded lettuce and tomatoes, rice and the white sauce(only). I also added a side of the falafel. The platter was delicious. The chicken and falafel was not dry and I liked the addition of the tomatoes(which Chicken & Rice Guys doesn't have). I think the white sauce is less garlicky and greasy than the one at Chicken & Rice Guys so it is not as filling. Tip: Remember to get the rewards card so you can earn points towards your next free platter! read more

The beef gyro with rice and veggies is a great dish and I used to order from here for lunch all the time but since I started keto, I had to avoid eating from here. Decent meal for the decent price. I tried out their relatively new location at South Bay Mall as Chipotle had long lines. I ordered the Beef/Chicken Gyro combo. It was really delicious and the serving of meat was very generous. I would say the taste of the meat was far better than Chipotle without the long lines. Many people don't realize that the whole Al Pastor style of cooking comes from the Middle East originally. I was talking with my friend about how much I like the Chicken and Rice Guys (CRG), and they told me i should try the Halal Guys. I'm glad I finally tried it! I'm obsessed now with the food: I got the zest lamb and chicken plate: it has super tender, juicy and flavorful lamb chunks and chicken (the meat is definitely much better than CRG, because they don't have pure lamb, only diced mixture of lamb and beef, which are super salty). The zesty lamb is apparently a seasonal thing, so def go give it a try before it's off menu. The plate also comes with yellow rice, tomato, lettuce, and several pita bread corners. If you order to go, they give you 2 white sauce pocket, and one hot sauce. I believe you will have to pay extra if you want addition sauces. The white sauce is not as tasty as CRG, its a little bit sour, but still good. The hot sauce is super super spicy Omg... I felt my tongue was burning for 10 mins afterwards. But in a good way. I also ordered the pesto hummus as a side which comes with pita chips. I don't recommend this dish (but i won't deduct stars just based on this because other dishes tasted good). The pesto hummus is super oily and tasted very bitter. I can't taste the aroma of chickpea in it and the pita chips is super saggy and hard to chew. so I don't recommend this dish. The baklava is good. Baba ghnoush is good too. It's super crowded during lunch hour, so I would just order online for pick up to avoid waiting in line. Will come back again for sure. read more
