This right here is the single best dining establishment in all of Boston. There are just too many positives here, if I could give the halal guys higher than five stars, I would. For starters, the menu is simple and there isn't too too many options, and this is simply because they have literally mastered those dishes and you can taste the mastery, so so good. The plate consisted of lettuce, tomato (both of which consisted of HALF the plate), rice, chicken and a white sauce drizzled on top. I also added some kalamata olives on it as well. It came with 4 small triangle shaped pieces of pita. I added 2 pieces of falafel on the side for $1.50. The chicken was good, it wasn't dry whatsoever. The rice was your typical yellow rice and the sauce that covered the plate was tasty. However, with this plate being $10 and half of it consisted of only lettuce and tomato, it was disappointing. The chicken was piping hot, so in return turned the lettuce and tomato hot and became wilted and that just didn't sit well with me. The falafel was TASTY though. I was happy about that. Overall, I wouldn't drive the hour that I did to come here again. In fact, I wouldn't come back. This has the makings of a decent place, good flavor and consistency on the tahini, great pita bread. However, my main meal was ruined. I put on the order ALLERGY WARNING CHICK PEAS/HUMMUS in all caps for the chicken gyro sandwich, and they put hummus on there. It was a delivery order too so while got money back from doordash, it was the main part of the meal. Halal Guys built their empire on cheap food, fast service, and great taste. This establishment has none of those three qualities. At $10 for a regular plate halal guys is not the most inexpensive around the area. The staff were friendly but had a lot of issues with communication and their employee working the register did not know how to ring up the items correctly. Finally, for their food, they give significantly smaller portions than the original cart and the food comes out lukewarm to cold. Quality has significantly decreased to the point that they should be ashamed to be flying under the same banner as The Halal Guys. Take a step back and read the reviews, even the positive ones have negative comments. Overall, pass this place. Yay, so happy now they have franchised and in Boston. If you do not know about the original location. See the Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th in New York City. One of Yelp's most reviewed locations. Simple, affordable, tasty. I like the combo plate and get plenty of sauce to go if you do not plan on finishing it there. Watch out for the hot sauce, it is as it has always been. Not for the "mild" hot sauce folks. You should just avoid it all together if you can't take the heat. As far as I can tell, it is using the same ingredients and because they've franchised it is only as consistent as the food freshness turn over. Granted you're not getting the NYC authentic feeling as you did waiting in line and purchasing a $5 plate of goodness. Recently the cart locations have raised their prices to $8. Boston location's price is about $11 and some change with the tax included. IMHO this is a fair price since they have to pay for rent, and hopefully paying the workers a fair wage, etc. PS w/o these guys, there wouldn't be a chicken and rice guys, they put halal chicken and rice on the map and main stream, but to be fair chk & rice guys were first to market in Boston read more

Halal Guys is finally open! Haven't had this since being in NYC, and I'm so happy they've made their way up to Boston. We ordered the beef gyro combo and chicken/gyro combo. Pricing is reasonable - small combo is $8.99 and regular combo is $9.99. All combos come with choice of meat, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes. Optional toppings included green peppers, onions, olives, and jalapeños. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned, and the veggies tasted fresh. Warning- the hot sauce is very hot. Comes free if you ask for it on top of your food, but they charge 50 cents for the packets. Service was incredibly friendly and the line moved very fast. Went to the "soft" opening yesterday. I had been sooooo excited to have a falafel place open nearby and they certainly seem to have quite a following. But honestly it was a bit of a let down. The staff was nice but the food was fair. Hopefully this was just due to the newness. I was rather disappointed with the falafel platter (9.99 for a regular ). It consisted of 5 falafels, iceberg lettuce, tasteless tomatoes, and very orange rice. I was offered various sauces and jalapeños but no pita. I had to work hard to get some olives thrown on top. The dinner did not come with hummus or baba ganoosh. Kinda' skimpy for the price compared to other such places. For example at Falafel King downtown I've gotten nicer greens with a generous amount of hummus, olives, pita and falafel for a slightly lower price (plus they gave me a free falafel sample while waiting in line!). read more

I got the white sauce and a very little bit of the hot sauce. The meat was tasty and so were both sauces. I just wish they had bottles of sauces on the side for you to add your own, because when I had about 1/4 of my meal left I was craving more sauce. Also decided to try the baklava (layers of filo dough with chopped nuts and syrup) - which was decent compared to other ones I've had. Wasn't able to finish it though because of how sweet it was (which I expected) so next time I would share with a friend. Heads up- If you've never had baklava, it is usually a very sweet dessert. Waited an hour in line with my coworkers at the grand opening. We got there at 10:45AM and it opened at 11AM. We all got free tshirts, sunglasses, sodas (for registering our loyalty cards), and coupons for future visits (Ex: 20% off or free food items). This made the wait a little more bearable. One of my coworkers said it felt like a club - complete with the long line, bouncer at the door, and DJ. Hopefully, the line dies down after the hype and they open up more storefronts soon around the rest of Boston like Downtown Crossing, Seaport and Financial District. Hard to compare this to the original NYC cart because I'm usually drunk by the time I get there but it's definitely 10 times better than Boston's copycat Chicken and Rice Guys. Tip: get the combo platter with beef gyro in addition to the chicken. My coworkers and I all agreed the beef gyro was more flavorful than the chicken. I deducted a star from this review for the following reasons: 1. They had two registers but only one cashier working at the grand opening at 11AM when the line was insane. With that being said, I can't knock them for that, it's a pretty pricey area, so you're still getting a great deal. I will probably "splurge" and pay for the extra meat next time. Beware: the hot sauce is HOTTTT, so be careful and start with a "pea size" drop, mixed around, that's usually enough for entry level to intermediate hot sauce lovers. Why can't Boston get Halal guys right? I am a huge fan of the original food truck in NYC, and go to the brick and mortar store in union square occasionally. The prices are similar to the brick and motar store in nyc, with the option for a small platter at $8.99 or a large for $9.99. Meanwhile the food trick truck only has one size- large for $8! The food here could improve. Like many reviewers mentioned, the meat is dry. I really miss how tender and delicious the meat is in nyc. The chicken that I had in Boston almost tasted like healthy chicken that lacked juice. The beef was a little on the crunchy side. The rice was just ok, it should be greasier. There is a lady who will put the sauce for you. She needs to learn to go all out with the white sauce like in nyc. Beware of the hot sauce, its really hot. There is a refrigerator in the restaurant with extra sauce so you can always add more white sauce yourself. I didn't see bbq sauce in there which they have in nyc. There was a sign advertising that they had a spicy lamb platter but when we asked about it, they said they didn't have it. Dude. If you have even at best an average palate that will lovingly embrace fast food thrice a week, let me sum up this product, as I struggle to consider it food. If you and your family, youngsters included are out at Wendy's, chili's, buff wild wings, hooters (sans the kids that night) and Fridays, Monday through Friday, saved all the leftovers from each night, married them together, left them in the attic for 72 hours and then blended the food together, threw it in a tinfoil bowl- you'd be staring at the halal guys finest work. If one needs to Take a cocktail of pills to travel to Thailand as not to get sick, to prepare for a trip to halal guys you need to spend a week in the hospital on IV medications to prepare. I suggest renting a room in a motel deep in new Hampshire to sweat this stuff out if you happen to choke any down by accident. Good luck. read more

Wow! This place delivers, late night. So, we arrived late from the west coast. Not much open after 10:00 pm in Boston, lots of places SAY, they are open til 11, but not true. Like the Guy Fiery place, says open till 11, but walked in at 10, and they say "kitchen is closed". So! We popped i to this place and got a combo plate, took it back to the room a Revere(top floor) and had an amazing food experience!! Service wasn't "AMAZING", but it was solid and supportive. The girls behind the counter delivered consistent service. Napkins, and cutlery were readily available. The food was amazing!! All in all, great food, great service, great value! But the prices are significantly more expensive at over $10.. and you don't get to pour your own helping of that delicious white and red sauce! I hope that it will change over time. Last time I checked the wait is only between 15-30 minutes so I'm sure if you're curious about it, there won't be a line for too long. I waited for about an hour during the grand opening. I'm so happy I don't have to wait to go home on holidays now just to get some of this delicious slice of heaven!! I've been waiting for this place to open for so long because I've been craving chicken and rice for a while. I went on grand opening day so I can't give an accurate review on how service is. Just know that the workers were all nice and efficient as can be with a long line out the door. I also scored a 20% off coupon for my next purchase - sweet! So $8.99 gets you a small combo platter, or you can pay $9.99 for a regular. Obviously, my hungry self needed the regular because that's the standard back in NYC. What ISN'T the standard though, is the higher prices. Low key sad about that but, honestly, food is more expensive in Boston than NYC anyway. You guys we Halal Guys in Boston! Every time I'm in Boston chicken and rice guys are always closed. Their hours are so limited. And I would rather have the Halal Guys. Now this location is definitely pricier than the New York cart but it's only a $2-3 increase that I am more than willing to pay. As usual we got the combo with extra white sauce and hot sauce on the side. To me, it's the same great taste and they were very generous with the portions. Our sever even turned around and gave us fresh chicken and lamb off the grill even though there was plenty in the front. We only have one location in Boston so when I happen to be downtown, I always come to halal guys! This location is always clean and the employees are nice and quick! Food is always good! My go to is the small chicken platter with extra white sauce. I loveeee halal food and we don't have too many places that serve it (unlike NYC at least).
