Halal Guys is one of my FAVORITE places in Tempe! The menu is simple and delicious. Yesterday I visited in the afternoon with my boyfriend. It was pretty busy, but the staff was so efficient that we barely had to wait. I got the gyro sandwich with white sauce and 3 lines of hot sauce. It is super hot but the sauce is amazing and gives so much flavor! I also got hummus and pita on the side. My boyfriend got the combo platter with a side of french fries. Both of our meals were amazing and we left so happy! I would highly recommend this for high quality, fast, fresh food! read more

After living in the middle east for half my life and searching for good middle eastern food in Arizona, I was beyond excited when I heard that New York's beloved Halal Guys will be gracing the streets of Tempe. The meat was ok-ok and lacked flavor. The tabouleh was alright as well. There was nothing special that would want to make me dish out nearly $10 for a bowl. One star is for the horrible service. I don't expect much at someplace with a fast food feel. But the woman who took our order was awful. She was rude and short. She did her best to make us feel bad. She was too quiet, and then would yell. She made sure we knew that our very presence there was a major inconvenience to her life! I won't be back. Picked up some family from the airport and we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat after a late flight arrival. To our surprise this place was open late (in fact, very late today, open until 4 AM). This place is a one of those strip type store fronts with about 6 businesses. The only draw back could be the that they share a entrance with Dutch Bros Coffee. So during peak periods could be difficult getting to park. Once we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman. My family ordered chicken gyro "sandwiches" and I order the beef. The guy that prepped the food was quick and really stuffed these sandwiches/wraps with everything. I was really pleased with how well the meats were flavored, some places don't season enough, but no questions asked here. The actual store front dining area has about 12 tables that will seat about 4 each...a nice medium size place. Everything appeared to be clean. Well i have been to the NY street halaal guys and the tempe version tasted very different. It wasn't bad, however the white sauce tasted different ( tasted like just mayo and ranch). NY one is much much different and yummy!. Also, tempe location do not have lamb, just chicken and beef. Hot sauce is thicker and hotter than NY version which is not necessarily a bad thing. Overall, it was good but don't go in with the expectation that itll be like NY. read more

What a disappointing experience. The gyro meat was so dried out and the pita served was so hard I bounced it off my tray. The falafel was black on the outside and lime green and tasteless on the inside. What seemed to be tzatziki was weird, creamy and strange tasting. I'm sticking with Haji Babba! read more

I just moved here from NYC and I was a regular at the halal guys food carts on 53rd street. Here it's quite different from there to say the least, the restaurant seems very clean and it almost has this chipotle style service. I miss how quick and simple it was in New York to be honest, here you have many extra ingredients that they did not offer in NY like jalapenos, tomatoes etc but I don't know the rice does not seem fresh and the gyro meat is different from what they used in NY. I was happy to see they had a restaurant in the Phoenix area but I was kind of disappointed when I compare it to the one in NY. Might go back when I feel homesick for NYC. read more

*This is not about the food. I've been to Halal Guys all over and have always had great customer service and great food w/ zero problems. NOT the case for this Tempe AZ location. Came in here excited to introduce Halal Guys to my coworkers as we are here on a work trip. Again the food was great as usual. Customer service, staff attitude & social skills HORRIBLE. You can feel the hostility even when we were just ordering. Answering back/ asking questions in a very rude manner. Unnecessary for a customer service/ food service based job. Every associate from taking my order, to the cashier to possibly the shift manager were rude. The main and most ridiculous issue was who seemed like a manager calling our table out for having the hot sauce. Apparently they only have ONE dispenser bottle that gets passed around through the entire dinning area. We assumed like any other Halal Guys they'd have plenty more. The worst part is how she asked for it she said "HEY! When you guys use the hot sauce can you put it back because other people are waiting on it!" Even tho I asked for an individual packet but they refused and the cashier said there's bottles. Again, assuming there were multiple we grabbed the "one". It didn't stop there..the manager (assuming she was) continued to say outloud to another group "The hot sauce his here it's cuz these guys have it!". All in all that place will definitely get a dump in ratings based on the staff alone which is sad because Halal Guys is a staple company. Being in retail/ customer service ourselves for 15years plus we hope this staff shapes up for the benefit of the company name. Good luck. read more

One bite & we tossed them. Called them & they told us to "call Doordash", which isn't a thing. We said YOU made the sandwiches, not Doordash, no response from the person on the other end of the phone. I was pretty disappointed in this place after getting excited about it from all the hype. i ordered a beef gyro platter. The meat was incredibly greasy, and the "White Sauce" they give you in a package on the side was disgusting (so, so rich). It did nothing to detract from the greasy meat like a typical cool, cucumbery Tzatziki should. They give you one little piece of pita with the giant portion of rice and meat topping. After that was gone, it was impossible to finish that oily disgusting mess. Rice wasn't too bad but the meat was supposed to be the star of the show. Their food is complete shit. I have never had worse Middle Eastern food. It's like they ate crappy Middle Eastern food, and then shat it out into the tray that they served us. Their white sauce is total crap. It's mayonnaise. Why not just call it mayonnaise so we don't get our hopes up that it might be tzatziki? I enjoy hot sauce, even siracha and habanero hot sauce, but the red sauce was completely inedible. Obscenely high in calories and fat (330 calories and 36g fat per pack of white sauce). I've tried this food twice -- about a year ago a friend brought me some gyro sandwiches, and I also had them again yesterday. The first time I was unimpressed with the meat inside the gyro -- whatever that meat is supposed to be and the fact that it is chopped up, the consistency. For $8 you can surely get a real gyro in Tempe, like at Princess or Haji-Baba's (heck, even a faux middle-eastern place like Pita Jungle will do you a better pita than this fast food attempt at gyros for the same price). I tried adding some of the "famous white sauce" to help with the flavour, but I still didn't finish the gyro that my friend had acquired by take out. And the prices! Why would people pay sit-down restaurant prices for FAST FOOD?! So....yesterday was the second time to assess The Halal Guys, take out once again, a year later. The unthinkable happened: I bit into the gyro and was chewing my food, set the sandwich down, and then to my disbelief I watched a bug crawl out of the sandwich! I went online to see if they had any health violations, but could not locate any specific Tempe violations (there are so many Halal Guys locations, with varying degress of fast food health pass/fail scores). First and foremost, other than the packets of sauce (of which we received one after paying for 4 extra - Uber Eats), this is NOTHING like NYC. I should have known and expected that going in to it but I was so excited about that white sauce (which again, I paid for and did not receive after TWO Uber Eats attempts). Anyways long story short, we have a newborn, can't really leave house, got excited for Halal Guys, ordered through Uber Eats, paid for extra sauce, didn't get ANY sauce. Called Uber, they came again and still shorted us the sauce that we PAID for. Then the food was garbage. Halal guys as a franchisor should be ashamed and seriously guy's (Tempe store) if you can't figure out delivery just opt out. You guys are terrible and you can't even answer your phone line.
