The food all around was pretty damn good! Me and my boyfriend took our moms for a Mother's Day Brunch. The brioche French toast was delicious! Also my mom ordered a wedge salad that was good. The shrimp and grits were good but more of a gumbo style instead of a cheesy comfort style. Still good- just different. I want to come back to try the sushi since they have a whole menu dedicated to it. It's a huge space and a very modern antique vibe. Our only downfall was our server. He was nice but not super attentive. After we got our food, we honestly needed assistance and he was no where to be found. We chose to dine at The Hamilton during our vacation to Washington DC. The restaurant was easy to find and is huge! We made a reservation but I feel like we really didn't have to, there were many tables available. The appetizer calamari was pretty good, it was fried well and had a good amount of squid pieces. My husband got a huge tomahawk steak. My chicken dish was good as well. The food was good and service was quick and no issues. Such an amazing place! The vibe is superb. This place is for all adult ages to eat, drink, mingle and meet new people. We went back three nights in a row, mostly to chat with Matt (bartender). He made the place amazing. They offer their own menu of house cocktails but can mix up any traditional beverage of choice. They also offer a simple beer menu that gives you options from draft, bottle or can. I recommend this place for any night of the week! read more

The Hamilton was a lovely place to go to for dinner. The service was great - we were seated quickly and our orders arrived in a timely manner. My favorite dish was the grilled octopus which was so tender and had a delicious charred taste. We also ordered the pork belly appetizer and the George Banks scallops which were both on the saltier side although the flavor was really good. Had reservations which appear to be absolutely necessary as this is in DC's "theater district" (as small as that may be) so it was was very very busy. Anything with St. Germain and I am DONE, light, airy, perfectly balanced, and strong enough that one is all you need. The food matches the energy: melt-in-your-mouth every single time. I've never actually made it to dessert because the entrée has me too full and too satisfied to even try. Last time I was in, I ended up in a whole conversation with someone visiting from Seattle about following Dave Matthews Band to The Gorge back in the day. Since our group was large, Hamilton staff opened up a closed section for us and took care of us. The place was busy for past midnight on a Tuesday. My friend and I were looking for a place to eat, and after being turned away at the Old Ebbitt Grill because it was too busy, we stumbled upon this place. The inside is pretty spacious, and by luck, even though it was busy, the hostess was able to seat me and my friend at a table. They have a pretty diverse menu comprised of different sushi rolls as well American fare. After asking our waitress what I should order, I got the "District Wings" with mumbo sauce and a "Tsunami Roll." Y'all, I am so ashamed that I grew up so close to D.C. and my first time trying mumbo sauce was at 32 years of age. It was so good. I'm still thinking about those wings with that sweet tangy sauce. I also really enjoyed the Tsunami Roll. Salmon and jumbo lump crab mixed with cream cheese and jalepeño are all my things in a sushi roll, so taking that and frying it in tempura was a winning combination! Sarah really rescued my experience here. When I first arrived, I had a server near the end of his shift, and he seemed kinda over it, and over me before I ever got started. But his shift ended, Sarah took over, and she was attentive, personable, gave great recommendations, and never neglected me a second. Kept my table bussed, kept the cocktails coming, and overall saved the day. The Hamilton has a pretty extensive menu. One entire side of the printed menu is sushi. The Hamilton also serves steak (filet mignon, NY strip, steak frites), pork chops, charcuterie, salads, seafood (crab, lobster, black bass, halibut, shrimp, Branzino). Burgers and sandwiches (lobster roll, crab cake, fried chicken, roast turkey). Apps include edamame, glazed ribs, meatballs, mussels, mozzarella arancini, octopus, hummus. I had the arancini, which was rich, cheesy, and tasty. For my entree, I had the steak frites. The steak was grilled and seared perfectly on the outside, perfect temp inside, and well-seasoned. The frites was great . . . hot, crisp . . . I don't know if they were hand-cut, but if they weren't you could have fooled me. They also have an extensive dessert menu and an in-house pastry chef. They have some creative concoctions, like a peanut butter and jelly dish, cheesecake, tarts, and more. At Sarah's suggestion, I had the bread pudding, which was served with ice cream and whipped cream. It was moist, choclately, sumptuous. I really enjoyed it. I had a few cocktails . . . the bourbon peach sangria, the spritz, and a couple others. They have a pretty diverse cocktail and wine menu. My drinks included ingredients ranging from vodka, Prosecco, bourbon, raspberry, lemon, aperol, lime, egg white, brandy, chardonnay, peach . . . and there are still plenty left for me to try. The mood is very old-school Washington. Lots of dark wood, high booths. Tons of space and the tables aren't too close together (like they so often are in New York). I have no complaints about my recent visit to the Hamilton. I met a friend after work for an early dinner, and it was already quite busy at 5:30pm when I arrived. It was lively and not overwhelming, it's a good spot for meeting up with people in the city. We sat in the far back dining room, so it was quieter than the front dining room, but still busy. We split the Mozzarella Arancini, Bell & Evans' Half Chicken, the Imperial roll, and Fried Brussels Sprouts, a weird combination in sound but the perfect combination in taste. We ended the night with the Chocolate Bread Pudding, which was good but a little bit denser than we were hoping for. Overall a nice night and good meal. read more

The Brussels were great! The pasta was ok, a good amount of fish but the sauce was very watery. Coconut mouse was average. The 2 stars are for the food. The service was 1-2 stars. Solid option for crab cakes and steak from The Clyde Group, with essentially the same menu as Old Ebbitt's. Be sure to book a reservation in advance, especially during peak dinner and brunch hours. The service is not as amazing as Old Ebbitt's but the food is just as solid, and the seating spacious and comfortable. Be sure to grab the crab cakes with corn and tomato Chesapeake and the bone-in ribeye with a side of the crab fried rice (which does come with a decent portion of lump crab meat). Nice restaurant with a classy environment but comfortable attire. Great menu and drink options. Don't know why they didn't include the kids food options on the menu, but asked the waiter and he told us. Bread and butter was delicious! Our crab cake entree and crab cake sandwich were amazing! Hands down one of the best dishes. Oddly, on last bite i bit into something hard like a shell or something. Fairly amazing up to this point, even had the manager Tristen stop by and we praised the business. After that we asked our waiter for the dessert menu. We noticed they no longer had the ice cream and brownies we saw on yelp. Tried to order the cherry blossom mousse but came back and said they didn't have it. Then we ordered the normal mousse. We then waited over 20min for 2 single scoops of ice cream (for kiddos) and the sliver of mousse. Great for one person, but not worth $12. My friends and I ate at the bar and were served by the amazing and funny Wade, who took our orders quickly and almost immediately delivered our libations- which were excellent. The peach sangria with bourbon was . He made several menu recommendations based off our respective preferences. He was funny and attentive, and just a generally pleasant and funny bartender/server. Unfortunately the food - though served hot - was lackluster and tasteless, heavy on the sauce and light on flavor. My friends got the soup, a sushi platter, scallions, and octopus. I got the broccolini and the zucchini pasta plate. EVERY dish was beautifully presented but disappointing in flavor. None of us was impressed with ANY our orders ( I'm loathe to use salt but I did just to give my dishes some flavor) - particularly at that price point. The food runners also seemed confused about orders and delivered the wrong or extra platters to us on more than one occasion. After hearing so many great things about The Hamilton, my husband and I made reservations for lunch before heading to the National Theatre to see MJ the Musical. David was our server and knew the menu well. He offered some suggestions and we went for the crab soup as an appetizer. Possibly the best we've ever had! It was rich, creamy, and had chunks of delicious crab meat. Next came the main dish. I had the lump crab cake sandwich with truffle fries. The crab cake was so meaty and tasty and the truffle fries were as delicious as David had described. My husband devoured his NY strip along with the savory mashed potatoes. He did let me try a bite and I found it to be seasoned to perfection! Will we be back? Yes, for sure! I dined at the Hamilton for brunch during Valentine's Day weekend. We had a reservation. We were seated in a timely fashion and experienced good customer service here. If you are going try an appetizer from here, I highly recommend the wings with mumbo sauce... omg! Hubby and I are obsessed. The mumbo sauce is so delicious. We asked for a container so we could take what was left back home and our server ended up giving us two to-go containers. I had the French toast as my brunch item. It had caramel and thinly sliced pears and crushed hazelnuts (I think they were hazelnuts). I got the hazelnuts on the side so I didn't eat it with my French toast. The French toast itself was very light and fluffy and cooked to perfection. This dish did come with an excessive amount of butter on top. I ended up using less than half of it. My husband had the shrimp and grits. My shrimp and grits are a looser consistency than we are used to, but the server did let us know that before ordering. My husband still gave it a try. He enjoyed the shrimp but said the grits were just okay. All in all, we would definitely return. We would love to come and check it out whenever they have a live music event. read more

Firstly, the vibe is such a beautiful place that takes you back to a special moment in time. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it feels good and I love that there are so many all day food options, especially for late night bites. The Jumbo Lump Crab Bucatini is heavenly :) and the crab chowder is also nice too. Service was good and food came out pretty quick which was surprising given how busy they were. Arrived to The Loft opening for lunch upstairs. The room filled quickly and was being handled by just one waiter. He never stopped moving, but short of cloning, his best was still super slow. However, the set-up of the venue, the service, and the food were a combination of not making any sense, non-existent, and/or underwhelming. There is a mini stand at your table in which you place a card to obtain service - no staff were checking in on our party, and it took us about a good 25+ minutes to finally grab the attention of a service staff that were attending to a different section of the restaurant to get our orders in. We ordered: +Crabcake Sliders - topped with an Old Bay lemon aioli in a brioche bun; the crabcakes seemed to have a lot of fillers, and this was served almost at a cold temperature; not sure how long these were sitting our or must have been pre-cooked; the lemon aioli was hardly there, so it was just a crabcake nestled in a roll +District Chicken Bites - tossed in mumbo sauce; these were actually pretty okay in taste, but there were literally only 4 boneless chicken in this serving... it was pretty shocking +Firecracker - a maki roll with spicy crab, tempura shrimp, and tempura flakes; had a kick, but this was just not enjoyable +Imperial - a maki roll with tuna, jumbo lump crab, salmon, avocado, and red tempura flakes; this was just not enjoyable Considering how many people commented on how their 'sushi' was delicious, it's safe to say that those individuals have no clue what they're talking about. Also, all the staff didn't seem to be streamlined in terms of the specifics of reserved seating - we were told that we could sit at a designated section, but mid-way through our meal, one of the managers came by and told us that we weren't even supposed to have our orders taken for being in the wrong section and that we would have to move. This left a very bad taste and was not handled appropriately at all. Note that depending which section you sit, there are a handful of obstructed views due to the columns; this issue seems to be 'addressed' by having mounted TVs, streaming the performance live in real time... isn't the whole point to enjoy the actual show rather than watching a monitor? My Uber driver recommended this place on the way to my hotel from the airport. So I made it a point to try it. The interior vibe was inviting. I went in through the wrong door at first and had to search for the actual hostess stand. I saw a small sign near the movie listings that directed me to the right. The hostess was less than warm and inviting and was going to seat me in a bar high top. I asked if it would be ok to sit in the main dining area. She didn't respond and said something to the other woman at the podium. She took me to a table in one of the larger dining areas and provided a menu. My server was Zachary and he gave me a warm greeting. I loved the open yet cozy feel of the area. I ordered a water, the butternut squash ravioli with brown sugar butter sauce, and a side of short ribs rigatoni. The pasta was delicious and the side was generous. The meat was tender. Everything had a good flavor. I tried to see if the waiter would put my phone to charge somewhere since I had to get a ride back to my hotel. He told me he wasn't allowed to touch it and told me to go see the hostess. The podium was three large rooms away, and I didn't want to leave my table or take my belongings with me. He offered to get a manager to do it, but no one ever came. He also never came to ask me how the food was or if I needed anything during my meal. I asked one of the waitresses if she could take it, and she did take it with my charger and charged it for me in a cubby, for which I was so grateful. After I was done, I got the server's attention so I could get my check. He also brought my phone for me which surprised me since he said he couldn't touch it. I think it's actually a large restaurant, with different rooms. Maybe half a block in total. I walked into what looked like the hostess area, and found a bar. I was offered to sit down, no resy needed. Definitely an old timey saloon appeal with wooden walls, gold trim etc. Which makes sense with the architecture of the commercial building it's in. Service - was great, but there was only a few people at the bar, and the place was empty. Lauren, my bartender and server, was excellent, chatty, friendly, and on top of it. Food - I ordered the crab fried rice. This was delicious. Such an unassuming plate, and packed with delicious flavor. 5/5 no notes. Perfectly cooked crab, scrambled egg, scallions, rice. I contemplated coming back again just for this dish. Get it. Then I had the smoke trout dip, this was ok. But I like that they give you toasted bread slices rather than crackers for the dip nice touch. Lastly, I got the fire cracker roll that was half off due to being on happy hour. This was sort of a dud for me. I should have trusted what most of the reviews said, which is that sushi ain't what they do best. First and foremost- Be Aware- their Poke Bento is so disappointing that I have to say it's NO GOOD to a point that I doubt the raw fish chef at this restaurant knows anything about the poke or seasoning raw fish.
