Before our business meeting today, we got together at this local corner restaurant thinking we were going to have crabcakes but instead, I settled on a terrific chimichurri steak salad. You got your light lunch, your filet tips protein, on a plate full of super healthy, lettuce, baby tomatoes, avocado, grilled corn, balsamic grilled onions, marinated farro, chimichurri, champagne vinaigrette.. yum. I will give the place three stars. I didn't know when we stopped in. It was part of the open road group. It's very nicely acquainted beautiful bar and restaurant area. It's a corner location about a block from nationals Stadium. The food was OK, not what I recall gourmet. The service was fine. Although, the server made it clear. They were closing at 9:30. Who closes at 9:30 when you have a major concert going on down the street and those people gonna get out at 11 o'clock be looking to eat and hang out and drink. Poor business practice. We paid our bill and we went to another restaurant about a block away and hung out until the end of the concert and they actually had put together a late night concert menu for people to come in and People started to stroll in around 1145. They had planned to stay up until two in the morning. We collected our concert goers, and proceeded back to the suburbs. All in all, circa was not someplace I would look to go back to. The bartender was friendly and prompt. I started with the Brussels sprouts that were amazing. They were good without the blue cheese but I am a sucker for it. My entree was the shrimp scampi. Circa continues to be solid and reliable! Awesome happy hour until 7pm. It's bar only, but the bar area is good sized. The portions of food are large and the food is generally good. I still love the mushroom flatbread. My friend with celiac loves the baked chicken wings, which are gluten free of course. We were disappointed that during a holiday weekend there was no brunch. I did like that they offer wine in 5 or 9oz pours. We both enjoyed a 9oz pour of Rosè. We started with the Brussels which were definitely a bit undercooked and lacked flavor (not even salt and pepper). I had the chicken sandwich with a side salad. Circa is a great location for a casual date and outing with a small group of people. A little dark inside but you can navigate easily. Service is great and consistent. I only tried the entree salad which was descent. I had the mango blackened chicken salad that comes with ginger vinaigrette. I don't know if it is homemade but I recommend more ginger to taste. The portion size was a little small for the price but still good. Lower your expectations for HH on the food but the drinks good for house wine. I recommend to try this place. read more

I decided to make a reservation here before an event I was attended at the Nat's Stadium. I loved this place. I thought the decor was really nice, they played music but it wasn't too loud. Our reservation was at 3:45pm. We arrived a bit early but they seated us immediately. The calamari, steak frites and braised short ribs were all amazing and thus why I will be back. Circa was the complete opposite in the best way. Drinks and appetizers arrived almost immediately after we ordered, the cocktails were well made, and the food came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything felt smooth, attentive, and intentional. Our server was fantastic, but what really stood out was that the excellent experience went beyond just one person. The entire staff contributed to a welcoming, efficient, and enjoyable atmosphere. I have eaten at enough popular DC restaurants to know what typical service looks like, and Circa truly exceeded my expectations. I am excited to return again and again. I sat near the bar area and it was not too loud or anything. I ordered a mimosa and the French toast platter. The mimosa was delicious. The French toast was different in a good way. It has a corn flake crust, almond granola, fresh berries, mascarpone maple cream. I asked for the berries and cream on the side as this traditionally doesn't come with the platter. One of my go-to spots for a quick lunch/dinner or weekday happy hour. They also have weekly deals (like half off wine bottles). The service has always been good and the place itself is cute with a standard American bar vibe. The drinks are well made and the food is solid - the wings, wagyu sliders and macaroni and cheese are all great and flavorful. My friends also really like the pretzel loaf. I get the kale parmesan salad with blackened shrimp (pictured) like very other week. It might be the best restaurant salad I've had. I met a friend at Circa for a happy hour/dinner and I was so pleased with what we ate and drank. We ordered the tuna poke nachos, the Mac and cheese, blackberry margaritas and each ordered a veg quinoa bowl (hers with salmon and mine chicken, both blackened). The prices were quite high but at least the servings were decent (though maybe not the cocktail- it was a bit small for the steep price). Heads up- in addition to the high prices, there's an additional service charge. That really pushes me away from restaurants these days. read more
