Very happening place... although very busy, we never felt left to our own.. seated immediately by a gentlemen with a happy friendly smile. Hannah our server was immediately behind him with a nice welcoming hello with menu and taking the drink order just as quickly. Seafood pasta and seafood platter were both excellent choices, with great flavors, portions and nicely presented... I razzed them all about critiquing their seafood dishes, with us being from the Louisiana gulf coast.... But I say Well Done !!!! Reasonably priced, great atmosphere, casual and classy all under the same roof.... I await the next visit to challenge them yet again... I'll have the Grouper sandwich.. which I got a look at on its way by to another table, and looked truly monstrous and delicious...! oh well, can't eat it all at once... Thanks Amanda and others.. I have to say that, even though we may not have had a good experience food wise, our server Kayla was outstanding. And the view, because we sat outside, was nice as well. I don't know if it's because we showed up too early for the dinner rush, because there really wasn't anybody there yet or what happened, but our food overall was not particularly good. I had the Caribbean Salmon, which was very dry. I have no idea what it was glazed with. It was supposed to be over fluffy rice, that was off to the side and hard as a rock. And served with freshly made pineapple pico, which it wasn't. Our server did bring it, and it was all peppers. The other dish was Gulf Shrimp Platter with hush puppies, fries, and breaded okra, The breaded shrimp was not bad. As it was lightly done, and had good taste. The fries tasted like they sat there. Again, we understand this stuff happens. And our server was super awesome and we did not expect anything. This place seems like it does good other times. read more

It was unfortunately super busy and service was not very fast but our waitress was very friendly and kind. Always checking on us and making sure we had drinks. We are so happy we chose to stop here tonight! We initially weren't so sure as we had seen some questionable reviews. However, we were really wanting to find an affordable seafood boil that included crab legs. We decided to go ahead and give this place a try. They do have quite a bit of parking, however it is a big place and busy. We ended up circling the building a few times and scoring a spot right near the door. The hostess greeted us promptly and we had no wait at all. Murphy and Josie really made this a winner for us! They recommended drinks based off of our personal preferences and kept the waters filled. Josie answered a couple of questions about the meal we ended up going with and suggested the hush puppies. They were an excellent edition to the meal. Two of us shared the Grand Gulf Seafood Boil and an order of hush puppies. We found it to be the perfect amount for us with no leftovers. The mussels were a highlight for one of us and the crab was a winner for both. Both Murphy and Josie checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. 5 stars for our waitress, 0 stars for the food. How on earth people are rating this place high must be cause they got liquored up 1st or have no tastebuds. Hushpuppies & fries were the highlight from 5 meals. The crabcake was terrible = to a discount store freezer section. batter on the fish was soaked with oil, Snowcrab was barely room temp, Mussels ok, we were suppose to get okra but never saw it on our plate, the plates with crab legs had half an inch of oil sitting in the pan. This is a new restaurants by The Hangout folks and it is an interesting spot. I decided to have my first meal in the bar area as nobody else was in the bar while the main dining area was pretty crowded. I've never had good experiences at The Hangout with their food so I was cautious about what I was getting into here at The Catch. So they had swordfish as their fish special of the day so I immediately chose that as I do love swordfish! When my food arrived the swordfish looked fantastic while the sides were very unimpressive. For the price of my lunch I think they could have done far better with their sides. I have had far superior swordfish plates from several other restaurants in the area like Cobalt. The swordfish was a winner but it wasn't any better than other area restaurants swordfish I've had and while the swordfish portion size was fine the sides portion sizes were pathetic compared to the competition in the area. I liked the restaurant and bar ambiance but for the price and portion size I get treated better at other spots so I don't see much reason to return here. read more

We chose to go to The Catch so we could take our fur baby with us. They have a nice porch area that allows well behaved dogs (thank goodness no other dog was there so ours was well behaved ). Any way we started with fried pickles which were delicious. He had the fish platter and I had the Gulf Shrimp platter. Both were very good and the atmosphere was nice. Right across from the water and they had a bar on the porch so drinks were quick. Definitely would go back next time in GS. read more

The food was great; I had the Fish Platter with French fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. All delicious. They added some fried okra that was also good. My sister had the Seafood Platter with same sides and loved hers as well. Portions were generous. The atmosphere was nice and enjoyable. Service was excellent! He was attentive, checked several times to make sure we had everything we needed. We sat on the deck with an enjoyable view of the beach. First time coming here since new owner took over. CONS: There was wayyy too much grits in the fish and grit bowl for the ratio of blackened grouper. The entrees both were $25 and I feel it was a touch over priced. PROS: The restaurant was newly renovated. Staff were nice and quick with service. Great location and view of west beach. The blackened grouper and redfish were very tasty and perfectly cooked. The tuna dip was very tasty, paprika to top and perfectly salted tortilla chips over shredded icebergs lettuce. I will definitely get the tuna dip next time and some type of fish, but probably not the grits because it was really heavy. Perhaps a salad over a fish filet would be great! read more

The atmosphere here is nice. The food is just ok. I ordered grilled shrimp and potatoes and broccoli. The shrimp was delicious, broccoli was fine, but the mashed potatoes were instant potatoes. They were bland and unoriginal. I would like to see a home made potato for the price of the food. I feel like restaurants these days just serve blah and expect us to pay too much for blah food. First- It was ridiculously loud. The coconut shrimp were fantastic. Some of the best I have ever had . Everyone ordered a boil. It was described as "Old bay garlic butter". It absolutely was not. It was light you on fire spicy. I love spice. But this was too much. The sauce was also extremely thick. More like a roux or a gravy and not a boil. My family loves crab boils and we eat them regularly. They gave no gloves, no bibs, no trays, no anything you would normally get. It was quite literally a hot mess. Not sure if we would go back. We were staying in Gulf Shores for four nights this past week for our first time. We had dinner from here several times as we were renting an Airbnb a block away. The drinks were very tasty, and we had an assortment of dishes over the few days. Most everything was pretty good. My boiled shrimp were delicious and cooked perfectly, but my Caesar salad was not very good and they forgot the Parmesan cheese on top. The fish sandwiches were very good, but the chicken wings were a little bit dry. It's a cool place right across the street from the beach. I can't really comment on service because everything was to go since we had small children back at the house. read more

Ate there last night Sunday 9-21-2025. The restaurant had that funky bleach disinfectant smell you get with seafoods . I got the shrimp and cheese grits. Too many grits. I think it could have been jazzed up with a sprinkling of finely chopped Jalapeño. And a little mango.. maybe some asparagus fronds. Everyone else enjoyed their food. We came for dinner on a very busy Friday night. We had a large party and were told the wait would be a little over an hour. Keeping in mind it was a Friday night the wait didn't bother us at all. We planned to wait in the bar and have a few cocktails while we waited for our table. A spiked blond (possible a Manager) told us we couldn't wait in the bar as the tables were for dining. The tables sat empty for almost 30 minutes we would have paid much more for pre-dinner cocktails if allowed to stay. Keep in mind several tables in the dining area were empty and just needed to be bussed and set for dining guests. The restaurant was severely understaffed. The bar area had 1 bartender (She was working so hard) for the entire restaurant. I must say, the serving staff was extremely pleasant and very focused on keeping everyone happy and understanding of the long waits. Indoor and outdoor dining was available. It was extremely hot and humid outside. The bar area was very comfortable with air conditioning until the Spiked Blond opened the garage doors opening it to the patio area and creating another hot and humid venue within the restaurant. We were seated after about an hour and a half. Our waitress was outstanding and apologized for the long wait. Our food was good but not great. Mixed feelings about this location. read more

The food needs much improvement. I started with a smoke tuna dip. It was not smoked at all. It tastes like it came out a can. It was overly creamy with a mayonnaise. I asked our waitress if they had some liquid smoke to give it some flavor. Of course they said no. I had the crab legs and they were just soaking in grease, butter and obay seasoning. My son and mother-in-law had the shrimp platters. They were overcooked and rubbery. The french fries were cold. The vegetables were over steamed are boiled. My sister-in-law had the fried red fish. I was concerned about the crawfish sauce, but it gave the grits a fantastic flavor! The okra was fried crispy like I love them! Definitely 10 out of 10 for this dish!
