This little sleeper of a place was quite the surprise. When we pulled up there was very little business which caused us concern. We were seated immediately by the staff and sat outside with awesome views of the marina. For an appetizer we chose the crab and shrimp dip served with naan bread. The dip had plenty of meat and sprinkled with thinly sliced parm. The naan bread was hot as well. I chose the Bayou Cajun Pasta that was full of sausage, shrimp, crawfish and peppers. It was piping hot and the spicy level was high but not spicy hot. My son had the shrimp and fish basket. The shrimp were large and perfectly prepared. Made an 8pm reservation for 6 (4A and 2K) and walked right in. Roomy building in an old fisherman's shed setting. Waiter arrived and took drink and app orders. Drinks were a little slow to arrive and slow to refill. App was the shrimp and crabmeat dip with naan bread. I'm from South LA and I find everybody tries to mimic Cajun cooking. Lol. I was flattered with the Cajun seasoning. Had plenty of meat and cheese but I could've went without the Cajun seasoning. Wait staff did bring some crackers to help us entertain two tired kiddos. We had a half dozen chargrilled oysters. They had no flavor besides a small amount of butter. I had the grilled redfish and shaved Brussels sprouts and substituted dirty rice for citrus rice. The Brussels sprouts were the best part. Everything lacked seasoning and the citrus rice was completely bland. No citrus taste at all. Kids cheeseburger and kids chicken tenders. Their fries are thin sliced and were pretty cool. Chicken tenders were hands down some of the best I've tasted. Fish and shrimp basked was fried grouper and fried shrimp. Decent portion and decent taste. One adult had the three cheese lasagna and she said it was really good. We did some bushwhackers, a whiskey sour and a gin and tonic. Nobody's bushwhackers matches florabama. Lol. All in all wasn't a bad experience, but for the price and the atmosphere I was disappointed in the food flavor. read more

Downright Awful! Reservations were made 24hrs in advance for our large group. Once we arrived, we sat at our table for nearly 20 minutes before a server came to take our drink order. Then we waited another 10 minutes before our drinks arrived. 30 minutes to get 3 waters and a lemonade. Simply unacceptable! Some tables in our group were asked to write down their drink orders on paper and they held on to it for 15-20 minutes before it was picked up. What are we paying a gratuity for??? Our entire group had 1 server. Mind you, we made reservations 24hrs in advance and they told us they could accommodate us by bringing in more help. There was another waiter who was waiting on 1 table (5 people) while the bartender just stayed behind the bar. Finally our server got some help, and we got to order food about 40 minutes after sitting down. It was complete chaos. Nothing was written down and when food came out of the kitchen, the staff had no idea where to deliver it. So it was a bunch of shouting and there were people who ordered the same entree. So now we get to figure out who gets to dig into their food first. Again, why am I paying a gratuity??? Our checks didn't reflect correctly. Food was just ok. Since we were a large party, we were automatically billed a 20% gratuity for the hellish experience we had. BEWARE they also charge a 3.5% fee if you're paying with a credit card. Imagine having to pay nearly 25% for an automatic gratuity and credit card fee, on top of the 10% tax for this type of an experience? NO THANK YOU! If you're thinking about visiting this establishment, I'd highly recommend finding another place. read more

The ambiance is amazing, waterfront with outdoor seating - it is limited, I'm sure it's in high demand on nice days. I want to love this food, it was just ok. At the table, we hade a ribeye and fish/shrimp basket - they weren't bad, just not 5 star. They also add a service charge of 3.5% to their bill total. Came in with a larger party of over 50+ people, so the circumstances were a bit different. Each table was waited on by a team of 4-5 servers. They did an exceptional job. The inside of the restaurant was beautifully designed, with an upscale beach vibe right on the marina. As well as, a tiki bar for drinks and more food options. Lots of outdoor seating is available during the warmer months. Offering a lunch/brunch menu from 10am-3pm mon-sat, opened at 9am on sunday and dinner menu till close. I had the Shrimp Scampi & brussel sprouts to eat and the Orange Beach Sangria. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The pasta had an overpowering lemon flavor and the brussel sprouts in a vinegar-like dressing. Both of our seafood dishes were outstanding and plentiful. It hasn't changed much since the other restaurant was there decor wise. The was I'm sure a little new; needs more training on the menu. The bill comes with the 3.5 % already on it figured in to the total. Not much in the way of specials which are needed this time of year. Just a caution make sure you look at your bill. The gouda grits were thick, like stuffing. Maybe that's just how they make them, but honestly, seemed like gouda thanksgiving stuffing. Unfortunately, the service was poor. Andrew disappeared for long stretches of time and left me with the check for a long time. I tried to get his attention for some ketchup for a few minutes, but had to walk back to the kitchen door and ask someone for it. Honestly, the service killed it for me. Do not be fooled by previous reviews.... New ownership has taken over and it's NOT good.... We there to get the wonderful looking crab dip in the iron skillet.... NOPE.... It is not served in an iron skillet, wasn't hot, and the cheese on top was not melted.... Over seasoned and too salty. Also, I ordered the crab cakes for around $37 .... Absolute trash.... The cakes were cold on the inside and mushy... hardly cooked... it was like they made the mix for the crab cake in a bowl.... And didn't cook it! That is what I ate two bites of.... Raw egg and fishy smelling old crabmeat. I had the gumbo which was hot.... And not bad.... But the crackers they gave me were horribly stale..: no Tabasco either.... What? You don't have Tabasco? The waiter was fantastic.... And we tipped 25%.... But we are local and will not be back! Horrible food and horrible price.... I noticed the waiter looking at my plate (With only two bite).... He asked if we wanted a "to go" plate and we said yes just so he wouldn't feel bad.... We immediately threw it away in the nearest garbage can outside.... Go somewhere else.... Apparently, Barometer has been operating in the old Playa space and we never knew. After one visit, it's our new go-to place for brunch (and we'll be trying it for dinner as well). With our server's recommendation, we tried the Shrimp & Crab Dip--which was PHENOMENAL--and enjoyed the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles together with a few passes at the Mimosa Bar. Everything was delicious, and our J.D. our server made sure that we remained happy throughout. I cannot recommend him or this place highly enough. Pricing is also quite reasonable and the view is lovely. Go, enjoy and help spread the word!! read more

The calamari was chewy and covered in oil, the crab dip was mediocre, and the chargrilled oysters had no sauce or juices left--just bland and pale, as if they hadn't hit a hot grill, but were cooked in an oven. The grits were maybe cooked in the morning and left to dry not sure what was going on. Bread was so stale and crusty on my sandwich. My review takes into consideration a new restaurant, which always has kinks to work out. I've tried every restaurant at this location since the original (I believe) Bayside Grille. It's a wonderful location with beautiful views. Easy to get there by car or boat or golf cart. I would love for this restaurant to succeed. My friend and I went at 2:00 in the afternoon. I had the shrimp scampi, which I thought was delicious! We split the amazing shaved Brussels and my friend had the burger and fries. The food was very good! My only complaint would be that, considering we were the only people in the restaurant, the service was slow. We ended up having to walk up to the front to find our server in order to pay. It's a bright and beautiful space with great views. Ambiance 10/10. Worth a try! read more
