We chose this spot for our final dinner of the trip, and it was a great place to spend our last evening. We were seated on the corner of the patio, which provided a beautiful view and a relaxing atmosphere. Several other guests warned us about aggressive seagulls, but thankfully they weren't an issue during our visit. To start, we ordered the buffalo dip. It was tasty and well-prepared, though it was fairly simple and something that could easily be recreated at home. For my entrée, I ordered the sourdough burger without onions and added bacon. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. My husband went with the Double Pony Burger, which was absolutely massive. He thoroughly enjoyed it and had no complaints. I also tried the Seven-Headed Dragon cocktail, which is similar to a Long Island Iced Tea. It was delicious, packed a serious punch, and is definitely not a drink to underestimate! Our server was friendly and pleasant, although there were a few times when he seemed to disappear for a while, and our food took a bit longer to arrive than we expected. Even so, the atmosphere helped make up for the wait. As we were finishing up, they were getting ready to start karaoke, which looked like it would be a lot of fun and added to the lively beach-town vibe. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, the waterfront setting, and the laid-back atmosphere. While service could have been a little more attentive, I would absolutely come back for a cocktail, an appetizer, and to enjoy the view again. read more

The food was actually good, but unfortunately, the service really put a damper on our experience. The establishment wasn't even busy when we arrived. We sat down and waited about 15 minutes without anyone coming over to take our drink order. Eventually, we had to flag someone down and politely ask, "Hey, do you know if anyone is going to come take our drink order?" The guy we spoke to seemed genuinely irritated that we even asked. What made it even more frustrating was that two tables who were seated after us had their drink orders taken and their food brought out before anyone even came over to us. When our waiter finally did come to the table, he acted like we were inconveniencing him simply by being there. I completely understand that restaurants get busy and things happen, but that wasn't the case here. The food was good, but the service and attitude made the experience one I probably wouldn't repeat. There were some pros here, but a lot of cons as well. Such a bummer. The pros: location This is right on the beach with ocean views. It's beautiful. The pub is cute as well. Nachos: these were huge and delicious. I wish we would've just stuck with the nachos. Our server: our server was so nice but so stressed. I felt for him. People's food was not coming out of the kitchen fast enough. Cons: the wait for food. We waited over an hour and a half for peel and eat shrimp, gumbo, and a kids grilled cheese meal. SMH. Drinks: they were mid. I had a frozen watermelon margarita and it was overly sour/sweat. People were getting so mad and leaving all around us. It made things uncomfortable. It's a cool bar. That's all really.... I mean I guess it is sort of historic for the area and the view from this place is very hard to beat. My wife loves it here and wants to come here every time we get within a hundred miles of the place. In fact, she will just say, let's go to the beach right now. I personally don't see the draw. I think that it stems from childhood memories from coming down here with her Mom and living it up as a child of a seriously bi-polar Mom. They would just leave for the beach midweek for no reason and sleep in the car. Ahh, the memories! I don't have those kind of memories, as my childhood abuse was of a different nature. Anyway back to the bar. It's more bar food scene, than a seafood scene. They have mostly things you would find in a place far from shore, but they do have oysters, shrimps, and things of that nature. The nachos are big and gross. I do like the fried alligator bites that we get each time we are there. They are really pretty tasty little boogers. The beer is cold, the drinks are tasty and the servers take pretty good care of you when you are nice to them. They have an extensive frozen drink menu. The worst service we have ever experienced. My disabled child was constantly being ran into by drunk individuals dancing to DJ dreadlock. Our food tasted like what comes out of my child's diaper. It was beyond disgusting. You can't even have a conversation. They were upset with us for not wanting to sit outside. Which we would have if my 98 year old mother was not with us. I said "I've been here for an hour and cancel the salad because we are about to walk out of here. "I'll go get my boss to talk to you"- not. This is hands down one of my favorite spots right on the beach in Gulf Shores. We come here for the awesome view, but honestly, we also come for our regular server, Kevin. He is a terrific guy and really takes care of us every time we visit. The place itself has been sitting on this same patch of sand since the 50s. It takes a beating whenever the weather gets rough, but the concrete construction holds up. I was impressed by how fast they bounced back after Hurricane Sally. They had the repairs done and the steps to the beach fixed in just a few weeks. Inside, do not expect fine dining. It is very casual with plastic chairs and some hearty, rusty picnic tables outside. It fits the vibe perfectly. As for the food, a lot of people overlook this place for lunch or dinner, but they are missing out. The salads are good and the burger isn't bad, but a few items are absolutely not to be missed. The gator bites are delicious. They are fresh and golden brown with a kickin' tiger sauce. You also have to try the Cajun nachos. It is a giant platter loaded with cheese, crawfish, and shrimp in a rich mushroom sauce. My absolute favorite, though, is the Shrimp and Crab Spaghetti. It is crazy good. It comes with Gulf shrimp and jumbo lump crabmeat in a garlic parmesan cream sauce. I always get it with the works, including jalapeños and onions. It is easily enough food for two people. Verdict: If you want a view and some surprisingly great food, stop here. We will start the way anyone does when going to an establishment. Outside is cool, wife and kids got to take a picture walking up. Then we got to the hostess and this is where it fell apart. She seemed to be doing quadratic equations while sitting tables. Then ignored us for 5-10 minutes, when we were finally acknowledged I let her know there were 4 of us and we would prefer outside. She proceeded to tell us she didn't think there were any tables we could sit out there at. (We could clearly see there were many open spots.) I'm not sure if she thought it was funny, but she didn't appear to know how to calm the facial expressions to portray that. Finally she sat us... outside.... At one of the empty tables. Then we sat there with no menus. After about 5 minutes she brought some to us. Let's just say that this was the worst part of the experience. The owner should truly look at moving her to the back or the position of her employment. After that- it was amazing. The view was beautiful. It's right on the beach. The food was ok. The craw claws are worth getting and splitting. The drinks were awesome. Our waitress made up for the horrible entry experience. She was delightful and joked and smiled. Gotta knock the stars down though since the entry experience was so horrid. Owner, if you're reading this.... Really. Please. Check your hostess's. Give them a good program to seat tables. I've reviewed this place in the past and it's always good. The chicken nachos were delicious and such a huge portion, definitely more than two people could finish. The service was good once, although when we first got there it seemed like they were having some confusion getting the servers assigned. We sat for a little while before someone came to ask if we had been served. After that the service was great, it just seemed like it was busy and we got lost in the shuffle at first. I did have two issues on my last visit. The first is that they had live music. That's not an issue but it was SO loud. The inside is like 1,000 square feet, but they had it amplified like they were trying to fill Madison Square Garden. It was painful, so we sat outside, and that was the second issue. There are very few lights outside, and once the sun went down it was almost impossible to see. My table, and all of the tables around us were using cell phone lights to see the food. I see why people say this place is not the best and it's just very basic but it's right there on the main Gulf Shores beach. You would think they would shut down for some cleaning/renovations like the other popular spots in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach do because they could use it. Our server was not the best. I had left 30 bucks tip on the table, and I remembered because none of us at the table thought the service was worth 30. So I call down there and acting manager, I assume, Tammy tells me she can fix that. An hour or so later she calls me back and says she fixed it and I would get my money back in installments. Installments. Do they accept payment for food in installments?! I said for the inconvenience, she should just cancel the whole charge. She went on, trying to convince me that her waitress carlee g accidentally entered a 19 dollar tip. Well, I have the receipt and none of the listed "suggested tip amounts" mention 19 dollars. Great place on the beach. You can't miss it as the building is a very bright pink. It's a very basic restaurant. Nothing fancy. But that's part of its charm. Has a great outdoor deck. We were here for hangout fest. We had Kevin (I hope I have the right name. He was from Jamaica) as our server every day we were there. And he was beyond amazing! I've been meaning to write this review since last year! He was prompt attentiveand always had a great smile. The food is bar food but it's decent. I had a salad and it was great. My ONLY complaint was that for those of us who were there for eight or more hours, eating, drinking and generously tipping, was the long line to use the bathroom from the concert goers was annoying. Women were walking in and just using the bathroom. They were not patrons of the restaurant. There's only two stalls in the women's bathroom. The line was so long and the bathrooms got to the point of being gross. I had asked the servers if they were charging a cover charge or you would need to purchase a drink in order to use the bathroom. They said the manager didn't want to do that. It really turned out to be a free-for-all and was the reason we left. Maybe it's a better place to go to when they don't have hangout fest. We will definitely visit while we are there and hope to have Kevin as our server again. read more
