OMG the mango matcha is delightful with real fruit on the bottom. Will return! Padded seats may make for a nice meeting spot. Don't know about the condition of the bathrooms. Didn't need it at the time.

was excited to spot someone carrying a fresh drink in the colours of the italian flag on commercial drive, exactly what i was craving while checking out car free day. it didn't take long to track it down to hanoi corner, an unexpected find in a neighbourhood better known for its coffee culture. inside, the café blends seamlessly with the spirit of the drive. the atmosphere is eclectic and a little retro, with red accents, warm wood finishes, cozy tables, counter seats, and two communal tables to accommodate diners. a portable record player sits on display with three classic vinyls doubling as décor, abba greatest hits, nat king cole, and the sound of music. it adds a nostalgic yet quirky charm, giving the space the kind of personality that makes it feel like a true neighbourhood hangout. the menu is broader than you might expect, spanning vietnamese special coffees, a ceremonial matcha series, bubble tea, banh mis, snacks, vermicelli, spring rolls, and dessert. it is also vegan friendly. beyond food and drinks they stock logo baseball caps, tumblers, and ceremonial grade matcha and hojicha, so you can take a little of the café home with you. small touches add to the sense of welcome, like wifi and a deck of playing cards that invite you to hang rather than rush. the baristas were friendly and efficient, expertly hand whisking the matcha. the strawberry matcha latte arrived in vibrant layers, dark green resting over a ruby red base, with oat milk blended in at no extra charge, which was a nice surprise. the strawberry purée was tart and bold, easy to stir through, and ultimately overshadowed the matcha. still, the result was refreshing, and slightly sweet without being heavy. with the festival energy spilling in from the street, hanoi corner felt like an extension of commercial drive itself, vibrant, colourful, and perfectly tuned to the neighbourhood's eclectic charm.

    Pandan coffee. So good!

Really cute place. Only stopped in for a coffee and were greeted warmly the moment we stepped in. Ordered the pandan coffee and regular Vietnamese coffee less sweet. And it was perfect! And the pandan foam is sooo good. Definitely would love to come back and try some of the other drinks and food.

Came here because we were enticed by the drinks and were pretty satisfied overall. It was very busy, so service was slower (to be expected) but still friendly. We got a mango matcha latte and mango coconut slush. The drinks are a little pricey, but the use of real fruit is very reassuring. The seating area is a bit cramped, and when the store is busy it does feel a bit overwhelming to be inside. But overall, the drinks were satisfactory.

It is highly rated so I came here to buy takeout tonight. I saw four customers were seated. Some ordered food and some ordered beverages only. A fifth one was standing at the counter and waited for a server to serve. The counter was without staff for a long period of time. I almost wanted to leave but finally I saw a staff came out from the backend or door. I went up and ordered four items. They were lemongrass chicken banh mi, fried chicken wings (which was their special on the menu), shrimp veggie salad rolls (2 in an order) and pork chop with vermicelli. The staff said the order would take 10 mins. In the end I waited for more than 20 mins. All of their dishes tasted good in general. The fried chicken wings with garlic flavour were the greatest. The pork chop did not look great in terms of presentation but it tasted good with the right marination. The shrimp veggie salad rolls tasted good but the peanut sauce was a bit strange to me (but some people might find it fine), and the lemongrass chicken banh mi tasted fresh and delicious. The customer service was good other than the long wait for the food and long wait for a staff to serve at the beginning. Hopefully, the service will become much better later. I parked in the residential area and walked to the restaurant. Commercial Drive is always busy with cars and people, so I would rather park a bit further away and walk.

We visited this place to get some drinks. When I saw their menu, I noticed they offer interesting flavors of Vietnamese-style drinks. So, here's what we ordered: Cacao Egg form Double Matcha citrus peach and lemongrass tea The cacao egg foam drink had a very creamy egg foam on top of a cold cacao drink. It was on the sweeter side, but the flavors blended so well together. I really loved it! The Double Matcha drink had a creamy matcha foam on top of a cold matcha drink. It was another great choice! The sweet matcha foam blended perfectly with the cold matcha drink, which wasn't too sweet. It was also very delicious! The Citrus Peach and Lemongrass Tea was a standout item. The citrus peach flavor was very refreshing, and the subtle lemongrass flavor added a unique touch. I will definitely order this again! Next time, I would like to try their Banh Mi sandwich! I really like this Vietnamese-style cafe--so unique and delicious as well.

I went here on Sunday just to get some drink and a sandwich, Yelp showed me the Hanoi Corner on Commercial. They had lots of drinks and Banhmi sandwiches on the menu so I had to give it a try. The price was around $8 for sandwiches and drinks were from $6-7. I already saw few tables waiting for food and it took me some time to have my food ready. Drinks looked really good, but staff seemed to be struggling to keep up with orders. I ordered Lemongrass Chicken Banhmi ($7.95) with Pandan Coffee ($6.15). Drink was good, but sandwich was alright. Chicken was precooked and the sandwich overall didn't have much flavours. Staff were nice and friendly. One lady gave me a hot sauce when I asked for it. It tasted better this way. Bread was nice and crunchy. Sandwich was alright. Pandan coffee was quite yummy and not too sweet. I was excited to see Egg coffee and Ube Coffee on the menu. I found the place to be okay overall.

Vegan lemongrass "chicken" banh mi, cacao egg foam

Finally made it here to meet some friends after I had been meaning to try for a while. The shop isn't very big but they have a fair amount of seating including a few larger tables. Nothing fancy but I felt like care was put into the design of the space and making i feel authentic. The staff were nice. I wasn't keeping track of time, but while it felt like the food took a while, considering there were a few others in front of us, I didn't feel like we were waiting forever either. The drinks came out a little before the food. I got a vegan lemongrass "chicken" banh mi and a cacao egg foam drink. The vegan chicken was very tasty and juicy but not too saucy, and the bread was perfect - it was a little crispy but not so much that it crumbled when I bit into it. I got it with jalapeños; some bites were spicy with a piece of jalapeño, but I don't think the sauce itself is spicy even though this item was labelled as spicy. Instead of the usual mayo, they use vegan butter on their banh mi. At first I wasn't sure about this, but I think I actually prefer it over the mayo because they only used a little butter, and so it was less messy than the excess of mayo that is often used. The cacao drink was an awesome coffee-free alternative to the egg foam latte. I liked that it had a smooth chocolate flavour without being overly sweet. The egg cream didn't taste very eggy but added some depth and richness to the drink. The two friends I was eating with also enjoyed their banh mi and drinks. Both said the coffee was strong. The banh mis are pretty large and great value for the price under $10.

    Tofu banh mi (vegan)
    Matt B.

Very good, inexpensive banh mis, with plenty of vegan options. I stopped to grab a quick lunch for me and my wife. We ordered the tofu banh mi, the vegan lemongrass "chicken" banh mi, and a tofu salad roll (total was $26). All three were tasty, with the lemongrass "chicken" banh mi being the highlight. The tofu banh mi had vegan butter on it, which I think didn't work as well as the usual mayo. The bread was fresh and flaky. Good new spot for banh mis.

Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich, golden lotus tea, egg coffee, peach lemongrass tea
    Sandra D.

I enjoyed the sandwiches here, the bread is not thin or too flaky. Their drinks are pretty good. Ambiance is just a small café and service was okay, nice people. The only issue I didn't like is most of the things were sold out and the wait was long for 3 sandwiches and there was only 4 customers in the shop.

Selections are decent. however the menu is very confusing as they have a posted menu online, a digital menu via QR code and some posted menus. Unfortunately the menus were not in sync. My friend saw a couple of things she wanted to try from the online menu and was told they do not have those items. There are combo on the spot which are not their online menu and the digital menu. We ordered the chicken panini, a small mango bingsu and an order of tue mochi bubble waffle and taro milk tea. The food is very good. there is decent amount of ingredients in the chicken panini (which i forgot to take a picture of). The mochi bubble waffle was decent and i liked the taro milk tea as well. The bingsu was very well made but the price is a bit on the high end given the size. Overall service was good too

A fun hole in the wall dessert spot x flower shop!…read more Essentially there's a dessert counter in a shared space with a flower shop operated by the one owner - super adorbable concept, the boss was so nice to introduce his menu to us as well! Located on the same block as quite a few other popular HK dessert spots, I more inclined to go to Rose Cafe because it's quieter and a more comfortable environment to relax and sit around in. The boss mentioned they can make anything for us (!) including ginger milk, the sago desserts and that they event have the pistachio paste (yum!). For a quick dessert run - I opted for the small mango shaved iced, it's served with nice and ripe mango chunks, and a fresh mango shaved ice base. For just about $10 it's worth the dessert stop! They had a nice menu of several classic HK items - from deep fried chicken wings, to bubble waffles to pearl based drinks that only HK locals would order. Worth a try if and when you're in the Nanaimo / Kingsway area! Also (!) - very reasonably priced flowers and potted plants!!!

This is one of the better boba spots I have tried in Richmond where they have some creative drinks…read moresuch as the ones with panna cotta and mochi. I personally tried the cheese foam black tea with mochi and golden pearls which costed close to 10CAD. The cheese foam was slightly salty and pretty creamy, and the taste is much more pronounced when you dip the plain mochi into the drink. The mochi itself was slightly soft though a bit uneven in texture as some parts are chewy and some parts are already a little bit dry. I do like they nicely wrapped the mochi in a plastic bag to preserve the moisture, though I ended up trying it out immediately to get the maximum freshness. The tea itself is flavorful and not too sweet, which is what I intended because I opted for light sugar (30%). The golden pearls were pretty chewy and are the right preferred texture. While I liked the general quality of the drinks, like other reviews mentioned, the price of the drinks are a bit on the higher end but the quality did not really scale up compared to a good boba spot.
