Came by for a quick dinner trying the Ngon signature bahn mi and the sizzing meat plate with bread. The Bahn mi was tasty with lots of filling but the sizzling plate was a little disappointing. There was a lot of meat on the plate which was good but nothing was sizzling about it beyond it being presented on a grill plate. The food was luke warm and none of the meats were golden brown with that "char" grill flavour.

I tried their newly opened location in burnaby and thought it was good. Came to try the Vancouver location and was quite disappointed. The banh mi did not have much in there. The pate is a small smear and the ingredients don't go to the end. Even if you don't put a lot of meat, at least fill it up with pickled diakon and carrot. There was just a single strand of cilantro.

I believe competition is SO strong between Obanhmi and Ngon. I used to walk past by and compare prices between the two. Besty said Ngon is better than Obanhmi so I had to try if her verdict was right. I got #1 Ngon sandwich ($7.50) with Coco Coffee ($6.50) with 10% off via Yelp check in. 10% discount is also offered by online orders as well. Waiting time wasn't long. I was quite shocked to see the size of my food. Banhmi subs were bigger than most places. Even bigger than Banhmi Saigon in my personal opinion. It was loaded with veggies and meat. Baguette was fresh and crispy. Because half- sized Banhmi was huge (4 inches long I guess) I only ate half of my sandwich. Coco Coffee was pretty good. It was just as similar as Coconut Coffee from Cong Ca Phe in Vietnam. The drink itself also had a chocolatey flavour so it was like coconut mocha slush. I get so obsessed with Coconut Coffee after travelling Vietnam it was unforgettable. Coco Coffee is a must try! Besty also recommended Duri Duri which I don't feel tempted to try. I'm sure others love it if they like durian. I heard all subs are pretty good except for Veggie Banhmi. **Forgot to mention, homemade Mayo (in my Banhmi) was so creamy and tasty, too.** I may become indecisive next time since there are 3 Vietnamese restaurants on this block including Cafe Xu He. Just that 2 places sell Banhmi and drinks. Service was great. I was able to get paper bag to take leftover sub.

Too Good to Go app surprise bag for $7.99 - two Bahn mi's and a large milk tea bbtea

Disclaimer: This is my second review of Ngon. I recently heard about the Too Good to Go app and recently decided to try it out myself. I immediately saw Ngon on the list and saved it as one of my favourites, based on my previous great experiences from there. After some patience and luck, I was successfully able to nab a $7.99 surprise bag from Ngon via the Too Good to Go app. At around the 8:30pm pick up time, my order was ready for me and I received two Bahn mi's in addition to a large milk tea with pearls - what a great deal! Both of the banh mi were lemongrass chicken and were delicious - definitely was two meals worth for me. The milk tea was average with a super generous amount of pearls. I usually get 50% sugar for my bubble tea drinks but for $7.99 for two Bahn mi's and a drink, you definitely can't go wrong!

Simple place for banh mi and Vietnamese drinks/dessert. I had the Veggie Banh Mi and the Duri Duri Coconut Dessert. Mixed feelings about the banh mi - the thing that I think was supposed to be a breaded cutlet of vegan meat was super dry and flavourless. It was like a piece of stale bread. But everything else about the sandwich was good. The vegan pate was really delicious and I also liked the thinly folded egg. Good bread to filling ratio. It's a sandwich I would order again even though I didn't like the main protein because all the other good stuff going on made up for it. The dessert was awesome - must try the Duri Duri if you like durian, or try any if you like coconut - every form of coconut is contained in these desserts. The durian version contained lots of big pieces of fresh durian. I love the combination of durian and coconut! Good value for both the banh mi and dessert. Total was about $16 after tax. The one person working was really nice. They were able to make the coconut dessert in the cup that I brought and then offered to clean it for me after I was finished which was so nice! Although it looks like they mostly do takeout, the front of the shop is clean and neat with a few tables, so it's not a bad place to hang out and enjoy your food. The washroom, which is located in the back past the food prep area, is not so clean though. Lots of tiny bugs. I would plan to avoid the washroom if possible.

Got some banh mi for lunch today and I tried the chicken and it is actually really good. Definitely not your traditional banh mi with sweet chili sauce, sriracha, picked carrots and pickled papaya with a nice dose of mint. I actually really liked the flavours of this banh mi but i felt that they put too much of the spicy sauce that everything else was a little bit muddled. I was very happy to see the amount of chicken they put in which was not shredded but actually nice chunks of thigh (less fat). The reason for the 4 stars is because of how filling this is rather than a lighter lunch I look for in a banh mi (not necessarily a bad thing for other people), a higher price, as well as the really long wait. The service was nice and apologetic about the wait but a 40+ minute wait for banh mis is kind of ridiculous. Overall, I would definitely get another banh mi from Ngon but remember to tell them to hold the sauce!

Good selection of subs and dessert drinks at Ngon. I felt like the sub wasn't as airy inside and the outside wasn't as crispy, but the filling was delicious. They definitely don't skimp on the meat. I would definitely ask for lighter on mayo and butter next time, but that's my preference. I'm also not sure if I have to ask for jalapeno since my sub didn't have any either.

I love their duri duri dessert. And will come here just for that. Absolutely delicious with real pieces of durian. I only come here for the dessert and not their banhmi. I'm not a fan of their bread since it crumbles and falls apart with each bite.

Ordered two of the house special banh mi which honestly tasted pretty good albeit a little greasy. I wouldn't say anything about it blew me away and with places like Ba Le or Banh Mi Saigon in town I'm not surprised. The standard for Banh Mi in Vancouver is relatively high and it's easy enough to find decent sandwiches. It's everything else that distinguishes a restaurant. First off, drinks were made first despite a 15-20 minute wait for sandwiches. Just meant for awkward timing and melting ice while we waited. The cheese cake milk tea just tasted like regular milk tea but the bac Siu was actually pretty good. Second point relates to the first point which is that they had a bunch of orders waiting for customers to pay and pick up, meanwhile customers who have ordered have an awkwardly long wait for a relatively simple sandwich. This again tells me their timing is not quite there. I get it, if it's busy you have to wait, but if you have multiple (5+) app/phone orders waiting to be picked up and yet the wait for walk in customers is still over 15 minutes, you aren't allocating your time wisely. Either staff your team properly to handle the volume or figure out another way to get orders out efficiently. Ultimately the food and drinks they do at Ngon are not that complicated and if I only had a 30 minute lunch break I'd have to think twice about coming in (without pre-ordering that is). During these uncertain times it may feel like a gamble to invest in staffing, but for the overall customer experience and efficiency of the restaurant it's needed. Bringing people into your restaurant is only part of the equation, keeping them coming back is the other. Drinks and sandwiches are high enough margin that the increased production should easily pay for itself. An overworked team not only leads to longer waits but also increases opportunities for mistakes. TLDR, Decent food but management is lacking in my opinion.

A fast casual banh mi spot that has the vibes of bubble tea places - you often see young people hanging out here to grab a bubble tea, dessert, a quick snack, or banh mi! [Items Tried] *MUST TRY* Ngon Special (5/5) - $6.75 Taste: One of the best banh mi's I've tried in Vancouver that plays a twist to the traditional Vietnamese sandwich. A golden crust that is crunchy to the bite but soft and doughy underneath. The sandwich has the right amount of filling inside with pork sausage, braised pork, and a kick of siracha. Overall, I'd recommend giving this sandwich in particular a try as it has a good variety of meat and is a popular choice on their menu. Portion Size: Good for one person. [Value for Money] While traditional Vietnamese delis are typically more run down, this is a new fun spot and a cost effective solution for a quick bite to eat!

I'm surprised I haven't written a review here yet. I've had their banh mi a few times already and I keep coming back. They are so delicious! My most recent visit was last weekend. After a delicious lunch at Cafe Xu Hue (next door), I couldn't help but order a banh mi for later... cause, why not? I got what I've ordered on previous visits, their NGON Special, which includes "Braised pork, Egg, Pork Sausage, Classic Sauce, Housemade Hot Sauce." So good! Fiancé also decided to get a drink: Tropical Mango with White Pearls. It was really good! Super refreshing and not overly sweet. The white pearls were the perfect chewiness and I loved the mango chunks in the drink! Huge TIP (you may have noticed it already), but if you "check-in", you get 10% off! Can't say no to discounts, especially on good food!.

Ngon Banh Mi is located on the same block as Obanhmi. Suffice to say, if you're looking for a banh mi sandwich, this block has got you covered. I ordered the Ngon Special Banh Mi ($7.05) which comes with braised pork, egg, veggies, and pork sausage with homemade hot sauce. The first thing that I noticed with this banh mi is that the baguette seemed to be on the smaller size and the bread isn't as crusty as I'm used to. That being said, I actually did enjoy the slight chew that the bread offered. I really enjoyed the tender braised pork that went into this sandwich and the freshness of the ingredients shone through. To me, this seems more like a modern twist on the banh mi and I'm not complaining one bit. I liked my first visit so much that I decided to come back and try their Braised Chicken Banh Mi ($6.55 + $1.00 for extra pate). This time around, the baguette was actually crustier than the first time so I did enjoy that. I still feel like their special banh mi is my fav but you probably can't go wrong with any of the banh mis on their menu.

Selections are decent. however the menu is very confusing as they have a posted menu online, a digital menu via QR code and some posted menus. Unfortunately the menus were not in sync. My friend saw a couple of things she wanted to try from the online menu and was told they do not have those items. There are combo on the spot which are not their online menu and the digital menu. We ordered the chicken panini, a small mango bingsu and an order of tue mochi bubble waffle and taro milk tea. The food is very good. there is decent amount of ingredients in the chicken panini (which i forgot to take a picture of). The mochi bubble waffle was decent and i liked the taro milk tea as well. The bingsu was very well made but the price is a bit on the high end given the size. Overall service was good too

Located on the same block as quite a few other popular HK dessert spots, I more inclined to go to Rose Cafe because it's quieter and a more comfortable environment to relax and sit around in. The boss mentioned they can make anything for us (!) including ginger milk, the sago desserts and that they event have the pistachio paste (yum!). For a quick dessert run - I opted for the small mango shaved iced, it's served with nice and ripe mango chunks, and a fresh mango shaved ice base. For just about $10 it's worth the dessert stop! They had a nice menu of several classic HK items - from deep fried chicken wings, to bubble waffles to pearl based drinks that only HK locals would order. Worth a try if and when you're in the Nanaimo / Kingsway area! Also (!) - very reasonably priced flowers and potted plants!!!

I personally tried the cheese foam black tea with mochi and golden pearls which costed close to 10CAD. The cheese foam was slightly salty and pretty creamy, and the taste is much more pronounced when you dip the plain mochi into the drink. The mochi itself was slightly soft though a bit uneven in texture as some parts are chewy and some parts are already a little bit dry. I do like they nicely wrapped the mochi in a plastic bag to preserve the moisture, though I ended up trying it out immediately to get the maximum freshness. The tea itself is flavorful and not too sweet, which is what I intended because I opted for light sugar (30%). The golden pearls were pretty chewy and are the right preferred texture. While I liked the general quality of the drinks, like other reviews mentioned, the price of the drinks are a bit on the higher end but the quality did not really scale up compared to a good boba spot.
