The Happy Bakery - Chicken and Waffles with a side of Scrambled Tofu.

This was our first visit and we were highly impressed. Love the homelike feel about the place. Staff was so friendly. We went on a Saturday Morning for brunch. I had the Chicken and Waffles with a side of scrambled tofu. Excellent! The chicken was so tasty. We will definitely come back.

We adore The Happy Bakery! Their food is always freshly prepared from scratch. Every time we order, everything is made to order, the fries are crispy, and the veggies are fresh. Tonight, we chose The Happy Bakery for our Lenten Friday dinner. The caliFresh sandwich was superb. Lots of flavors melding tonight, and the falafel patty was fried beautifully on the outside and soft on the inside. It blows my mind that everything is made from scratch. Such a rare find! Oh, and the potatoes wedges...OMG. One of my favorite side dishes EVER! Our kids love the burgers and crinkle fries, and we've tried several soups that were yummy! Whether you're a vegetarian/vegan or not, you have to check out this fun local spot! Can't wait to try their spring menu!

I had NO IDEA this place existed and I'm SO happy I found it!!! The service was exceptional and the cozy atmosphere was really nice! AND no TVs, thank goodness!!! The food was fresh, and tasty, and HEALTHY. Totally vegan place on THIS side of the river! Who'da thunk? And even though there's little to no competition, they're doin' a great job! I'll definitely be back...

Who says you can't buy happiness? You can buy plant- based cupcakes!!

Best vegan bakery and café this side of the Ole Miss. Most charming historic district home turned bakery. The store is serious about inclusion of all peoples, super good vibes seep out of every corner. From the little garden out front to the candy colored decor inside. Whole-foods plant based meals are lovingly slow cooked in the professional kitchen. The cupcakes and other confections are so pretty and taste absolutely as good as they look. Want a fun activity for special occasions? They even have a room for decorating your own cake. Love this place and so glad I can get my grandlittles cakes both can enjoy with their allergic restrictions. Thanks for being so fantastic!!

I'm so excited that there is a great spot for vegan breakfast, their dishes are great and the sweets are also good. The location is easy to find and cute dining area. We prefer to take breakfast to go so we don't smell like the food after dining in but would recommend!!

Loooove everything at the Happy Bakery! Their cakes are amazing and so delish! Everything we've tried has always always been good! We only order our cakes through them! We're not vegan, and we actually prefer their cakes instead of the "regular" ones.

I'll admit, even as a self-proclaimed foodie, I sometimes get stuck in the mode of not venturing outside of certain favorites. When it comes to vegan desserts in STL, I stuck with one place, for the most part. As my job often does, it had me in unfamiliar territory, which to my surprise, housed this amazing vegan bakery. It's a cute little house on the corner, so it was easy to find. I loved all of the welcoming signs; they always put me at ease. Inside was just as cute. There's seating on one side and the bakery case and kitchen on the other. I wasn't expecting this little, unknown-to-me bakery to have so many options, but there was quite a bit from which to choose. I grabbed a variety after the nice young lady advised me of the buy 5 get one free deal. BUTTERSCOTCH cupcake: OMG This may be my new favorite thing! Whomever created this vegan version, excelled! Sweet, rich, buttery, butterscotch atop a light and fluffy cupcake. I need to know if they come in full cake sizes. Divine!! LEMON cupcake: I was not expecting this to make it to the top of the list. The mixture of the air-light cupcake and whatever heavenly magic went into the icing made this an instant favorite. Excellent! VANILLA CONFETTI ORANGE DREAMSICLE Both of the aforementioned cupcakes were yummy. The Orange Dreamsicle tastes like summer, and the Vanilla Confetti is birthday ready. Yum! The Double Fudge was good. It was just like a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing. I didn't taste that rich, thick fudge that I'm used to with fudge cupcakes. But again, it was good. I tried some cookie sandwiches and the caramel cookie with caramel icing in the middle was my favorite. Scrumptious! Lastly, the cupcake parfaits. I got a double fudge and a snickerdoodle. Both were good. I am so happy to find more amazing vegan desserts in the STL area (it's just a short drive from STL, and it's so worth it!). I hope to make it over again soon to get more desserts and to try their Saturday brunch.

This cute lil off the beaten path VEGAN restaurant is quaint. Atmosphere: The decor is Farmhouse chic. The owner has created an experience for Vegans and beginner Vegans to indulge in for the better! Animals are friends NOT food here. Everyone is welcome in this NO HATE ZONE! Woman owned/Safe zone!! Seating: take your pick! Outside on the porch (with heat lamp), event room (seats 8), family/dining area (seats 6 + high chair) and the main dining room (seats 12). I'm sure you can rent the entire place out easily!! Staff: Everyone was super hospitable and no matter how busy they got... the atmosphere was super chill! Food: Well we tried just about everything. I forgot to take a photo of the BLT & our desserts! We asked to have everything split in half so that our party of 3 could sample. ~The BLT (secret ingredients) made the bacon crispy, salted to perfection and delicious! "WINNER". ~The Philly Cheesesteak (seitan) was phenomenal! I'd never had a Philly Cheesesteak and I can tell you, You won't miss the meat because this delicious sandwich is packed with flavor and it looks good. ~The Grilled cheese sandwich was a bit on the dry side. I'm sure we could have added something to it but for the sake of having so much food, it was ok. It was cooked just right ( yes, VEGAN). ~The Falafel. I'm a falafel and hummus fan. You can't go wrong with this pita wrapped sandwich. Even the French fries and pickle were tasty. ** Millionaire Cupcakes (chocolate cake topped with Cookie dough and drenched in chocolate frosting and 14k gold!!! **Pistachio Chocolate Chip Cookies-- buttery tasting pistachio flavored yumminess When the warmer season comes... expect this place to be packed! They have 3 outside raised garden beds... they are getting ready to get their spring/summer time freshness ON! TIP... Order your food ahead of time if you want a to-go order. Because although today was a slow day, they had lots of foot traffic and phone orders plus, it was a rainy spring day!

First time trying and was excited to know they had vegan options. We ended up ordering Chik'n and waffles, breakfast tacos, cinnamon roll, and a vanilla confetti cupcake. The service was great and helpful. They prefer cash due to a 1 percent charge added if you use card. The overall ambiance was nice due to outdoor seating and a few tables inside. They also have soft playing music in the background while you wait. Lastly, the restaurant was very well lit, colorful and full of posters and signs.

This was a pleasant surprise of a coffee shop. The food was good with lots of special coffee…read moreflavors. The service is amazing and friendly. Plus for a special treat swing by on a Sunday and enjoy one of the best cafe singers ever! We didn't catch her name but she was really good and we enjoyed our meal and coffee while listening to her sing. This is a very cute downtown coffee shop. It's in a small town and has that special small town vibe.

Upon entry, I was greeted by a very friendly barista, and I believe her name was Leticia (sorry if…read moreI'm wrong). She introduced herself, asked me my name and welcomed me. That was very impressive! I ordered a peppermint bark & oat milk iced latte and she started that while I continued to look over the menu. Music was playing oldies -- The Temptations, The Dells, etc., which was a chill vibe. I then ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy as I am always on the search for the best b's & g's. Latte was handed to me quickly at the counter and my food was brought to me within 2 mins of sitting down. The latte was quite sweet, I didn't taste much of the espresso, which isn't my preference. I really am kind of biased though as a former barista myself, ;) However, I know next time to remember to ask for less syrup, if I order again. The b's & g's are very fresh -- the biscuits were warm and tender; the gravy is more of a brown gravy and not your classic white gravy. It was thick, with chunks of sausage, flavorful, with herbs on top. It was not that salty which I noticed right away as I am very particular about that. I appreciated that a lot! I don't think I would order these again, solely based on liking white country gravy better. But very flavorful and for someone else, worth a try! And they were served in a Togo container which is cool, in case I wanted to take it with me. The cafe itself is immaculately clean & that included the beautifully wallpapered bathroom. The tables are all clean and they all have pretty little real mums in cups, I love that simple touch - so cozy. One walls is covered with photography pieces for sale and as I photographer, I love to see the support for us and our work! Definitely super cool. As a NYC native, this cafe felt more urban-esque, while sitting in downtown small town Belleville and really such an, "at home" type vibe -- really though, shout out to the barista who really stands out in treating you like family. They live up to their sign, inside, "Welcome to the family." That's valuable! Overall, I'm super impressed with the service and I'll definitely come back to try another drink and more food. Definitely worth it! I recommend, Justitia's! Thanks for having me. :)
