I will begin here, I have gone past the Harding Tarven either on foot or by public transportation. One day I will stop in. I finally did. I choose to have my birthday dinner here. The moment we walked in I felt at home. Greeted by one of the bartenders. She is very friendly. For the first time being here, we asked what would she recommend. She recommended the tht burger. So we went those, paired with stella. Which was ice cold. The burger was amazing, perfect portion along with the fries. Very clean location. Comfortable seating area. Interesting concept. I got a whiskey drink here. Their menu lists prices as around $6-12 for a whiskey drink, depending on the type of whiskey. I had two separate drinks. When the bill came, it was for four drinks even though I only had two. They charge an automatic double for each whiskey drink you order. Mind you the pours were not generous and no one said a word about the drinks being automatically charged as doubles. When we asked about this, they were condescending and said that this was standard practice. Where? In The Robbing Tavern? Never heard of it in my decades of drinking but okay. I think because my friend was young and I looked young (but really I'm an old bitch), they felt like they could pick on us and my friend was super nice and didn't want confrontation so we paid the double prices and left. So if you order one drink, expect to pay for two, but really only drink one. If you order two drinks (don't do that, you should order zero drinks and go somewhere else), expect to pay for four, and only drink two. Oh and certainly, you will be treated like shit as well. By the way, I hardly EVER give a one-star review. Go look at my reviews. I only do this when the business is dishonest and really reprehensible. Stay away. I received an extra tip added to my bill of $50.00! None of their work phone numbers work either (online or receipt). My friends and I tipped 20%, and I proceeded to take a photo of our bill so I could split it. On the photo of the receipt, my signature, total with tip included is very visible. I was unable to reach out to them, otherwise I would have avoided making this review if they had communicated. Completely unacceptable for a server like Marcella to add an unauthorized $50 tip. My actual restaurant experience was very enjoyable, and had this not happened I had full intentions of returning with friends. read more

We came in for a late brunch on Sunday and planned on going to a place close to this joint but when we found out that there was 45 plus wait then we ran out of there fast and walked our butts to The Harding Tavern. I enjoyed my time at the Harding Tavern and here is why. There was no wait, the food was just stupendous and the service was super attentive. We walked in and there was no wait which made our bellies happy. So we sat down right away and were attended to really fast. We had a bloody mary, a mimosa, 3 egg and sausage special and a chorizo burrito/wrap. They were very accommodating with the fact that we didn't eat pork and were able to substitute turkey sausage for the pork options. The food was so good, we cleaned our plates. I will definitely return for those potatoes. The only advise I would give is to be a bit more child friendly since it is a brunch place BUT then again it is also a bar simultaneously so I can't blame them. read more

This is the second time that I review the Harding tavern....the food was good, the service was very good.. the cheeseburger was better than the one at Kumas.... The garlic shrimp...appetizer...was very tasty... the pork belly skewers delicious... Why 4 stars only.... they were offering some specific beers... guava sour and elote cream flavors.... but didn't have them. Therefore, I decided that 4 stars is what they should get. But I like more their burgers than kumas... for sure! I'm going back soon.... I will let you know how good was it this time. read more

Our service at The Harding Tavern was not the best. We were seated outside and quickly received our first round of drinks (so far so good). We were then asked by our server if we were ready to place our entree order at the same time as our appetizers. I hesitated and asked if they'd be staggered, allowing us to enjoy our appetizers first and the server said yes. Well, our appetizers arrived and about 3 minutes later, so did our entrees. The outside table was overflowing with plates so much that I had to place one of the appetizers on my lap while I ate. We also had at least three different servers approach our table at different times throughout the night. This might sound like a good thing but (we're assuming that) one employee didn't relay anything to the other two which meant that we basically had to repeat ourselves three separate times with each interaction. Just seemed like no one was trained properly. The BEST interaction throughout the night was the busboy... he was an older gentleman - super friendly and attentive. Management should consider upgrading him to a server because the ones they currently employ are not doing that great of a job. Regardless, we left a 20% tip but thought that it wasn't really deserved. Food was great. read more

My go to bar type restaurant. The buffalo chicken wrap and caesar wrap are my favorite although I've tried lots of other food items that have been great as well. Nice beer selection and theres happy hour deals as well. The wraps are my go to & i rarely order wraps anywhere else because they don't compare. Highly recommend this neighborhood spot. Great bar in Logan Square! Everyone here is so friendly, including the owner who came up to our table and greeted us. We came here on New Year's Eve and had a great time ringing in the new year. Appetizers are half off after 10 pm. We got the Mac n cheese, pork belly skewers and THT fries, all were good! The service was very quick as well. This bar has a very cozy and live atmosphere and the interior is very well decorated. Will be coming back here soon. read more

I like this place. Not sure why it has poor reviews. Can always find a seat in here and there are plenty of TVs to watch whatever game you desire. They have the NFL ticket package. I also enjoy the food. I would classify it as better than average bar food. I've had the burger and it was solid. The fries are actually quite nice here. Fresh and well seasoned. My experience here was quick and painless. It's the only place we could find in the area that serves a good burger so we came by for a late lunch at 4pm on a Saturday and sat outside. There were only 2 tables full outside and we didn't even peek inside to see what it was like. Our waitress was very attentive (at least until we were ready for the check). My boyfriend ordered the El Chapo which was their version of a Moscow Mule. $11 was more than I expected for a drink in Logan but I guess it is still Chicago. For our meal, he got the THT burger with a fried egg on top. I got the Grilled Chicken sandwich with THT fries. His burger looked delicious, although he said there was too much aioli on it but overall it was good. My grilled chicken sandwich was absolutely amazing! They didn't skimp on any of the ingredients and the pretzel bun really tied it all together. My THT fries were also very good and they don't skimp on the sauce for those either. The food was very reasonably priced. The rest of the menu looked amazing as well and they had a great beer list. I was very impressed. read more

Harding Tavern fills the Logan Square need for a pub/bar type of venue with a relaxed atmosphere and good food. It's not a sports bar - which are scarce in the Logan Square area. It's a standard pub vibe with outdoor patio seating and a pretty good menu for a bar. I've only had beer there so I can't speak for their cocktails, but their beer selection is pretty good and is on par with what you'll find in this neighborhood. The food is prepared well and they've got great options for brunch, lunch, or dinner - definitely better than what you'd expect to see in standard bar fare. I've been a couple of times - once for dinner and once for lunch. The chicken caesar burger was fantastic! It's not a grilled chicken breast, but a burger patty made of ground chicken and packed with amazing flavor. The presentation is nice and the burger comes stacked high. I can't remember if the burgers automatically come with a side but we definitely shared a side of the classic fries and they were great. My husband got the skirt steak entree and was very pleased with the preparation and quality of the steak. For lunch I ordered the croissant sandwich and my husband got the chicken caesar wrap. Both were done well and very tasty. Service is friendly and prompt and they were great about accommodating our newborn in his stroller when they sat us outside for lunch. There's nothing that particularly stands out with the Harding Tavern but it's close to our house and I can see us popping in anytime we feel like a quick bite in walking distance or want to grab a beer. read more

Solid brunch spot - no wait on a Saturday at 1:00pm so there's that. Menu is small with limited options for a vegetarian but enough to get by. Enjoyed their bloody mary in-house mix which came with a small beer chaser (more common in Milwaukee but I would love to see it trend more here!). Had the croissant sandwich which was good with great potatoes on the side. Seating seemed to be mostly high top tables with stools that had no back. There were several noticeable large flat screens televising soccer on mute. Background music was generally early 2000 indie rock. All in all, a comfortable place to eat for brunch. read more

The Harding Tavern is a great place to grab a bite before you see a movie at the Logan Theater. That is, if you're looking for a burger and fries. It's a cozy space and it was packed for a tuesday night. The waitress completed the hipster atmosphere, looking like Adele, with brown hair, bangs, and circular-framed eyewear. She was super friendly and handled the tables very well. She was clear on wait times, only I found it difficult to seek somewhere to stand and wait where I wasn't in her way or anyone else's. I had the THT burger with fries that I shared with my dinner companion. The fries are the perfect crispy shell, width, and an almost creamy mashed potato inside. Perfect for dipping in sauce, but I didn't want to look like a pig in front of my friend, so I just used the catsup. I really wanted mayo or ranch for dipping my burger and fries. My burger was excellent, with arugula, brie, and bacon. They weren't stingy on the bacon, but it had a tendency to push its way out of the bun if you didn't squeeze it enough. I wish it had come on a pretzel bun. Randomly, this night there happened to be some kind of raffle going on and everyone was told to fill out a ticket. I won a micro cask, made by Mt. Gay rum. It was funny to me because I had no idea what it was when they handed it to me and I debated asking the other winners if they wanted to switch for the hoodies they got. I only saw the male winner, and I didn't want to offend my dinner companion by flirting my way into a trade for that hoodie. Alcohol orders jack up the price of every meal. The bill came back at $75. I had 2 beers and a burger. My friend I think had 4 beers. I didn't bother to check how much they were charging per glass. Most people consider that a pretty good deal. I liked how they had sports games on, but the volume on all the TV's were muted. I don't know if I'll be back, but it's definitely a cute little spot to grab a burger and chill. read more

The Harding Tavern is a solid neighborhood spot for good drinks and quality bar food, with a friendly staff and good music. Stop by before or after a trip to the Logan, or settle in for a few rounds of beer and booze. There are options aplenty. There is a high quality selection of microbrews on tap, another 40 bottles of beer, and, for my noble bourbon boozers - 20-30 bourbon, rye, and scotch offerings. Chartreuse, absinthe, and a few amaros (if I recall correctly), are also available for cocktails. To soak up the booze, get the classic burger - its one of my favorites in Chicago. The fries are thin cut and tasty, and I believe their pickle is pickled in house. Additionally, if you are here for a late brunch, check out the Aspen omelet, it is solid. If you are looking to watch the game in Logan Square, in particular the Bears, you can see it here, with sound on. If the games are on mute there is usually a good mix of alt rock playing from Pandora/Spotify/whatevs. The only downside is the size and layout - its a small, narrow space, and almost all tables are high tops, aside from a communal table in front of the open kitchen. However, you can eat at the bar. Additionally, they do have outdoor seating in the summer. read more

No Trixies or Chads allowed, so Lincoln Park folks stay out, or at least let the west of Ashland crowd in first. Good food, decently priced drinks. Great customer service AND the food was impeccable. Sometimes you sacrifice a little of one for the other, but not in this case! I ordered the Tex Mex burger w/egg and it was amazing. Also ordered an old fashioned to start and it was top notch. I noticed the staff cleaning all of the tables, including the chairs, after each customer. This makes me feel secure eating here knowing that they actually really care about not contributing to the spread of Covid-19. Kudos to the friendly and hardworking staff! read more

The Harding Tavern is a little gem I found while hanging with my friend in Logan Square. It is relatively new, but packing a punch. To start out with - they have a great beer selection if you're into that. Secondly, the menu is very reasonably priced. We started out with the lime, chili, coconut wings and they were dynamite!! They were spicy and sweet and the coconut milk and scallions combination was killer. I wanted to get a second order, but my friend suggested we try something else. We ordered the THT burger and the loaded fries. Burger was good, but too raw garlicky tasting for either of out liking. The THT fries we thinly cut and crispy.. Which I love. Great place! We stopped in here for one after an event, and ended up staying for three! Appetizer: pork belly skewers Damn, DAMN, was this good. Two skewers with three cubes each of juicy pork belly. Melt in your mouth delicious, and a perfect snack for two people. Good beer list, more interesting things on the menu (salmon burger!) and a charming and friendly bartender means we'll be back. This isn't a review I want to do but they've left me no other choice, double and trip check your bill and credit card slip!!!. We, a group of 4 adults and 1 kid, came to harding tavern on a slow Tuesday night (August 8, 2017). We have been here before many times with no complaints. We were seated at their large long table tucked away in the corner, ok cool no problem. We order our drinks and two appetizers, all things delicious. We were handed our small plates to eat the appetizers with and in between two was a smashed dead fly. I asked for new plates, no big deal it happens I guess. We got our food and another round of drinks, yum delicious. I had to ask for another carafe of water, I'm not drinking because I'm driving and we weren't trying to get wasted anyways. We receive our check and I'm shocked it's so much! oh wait they've added over 20% gratiuty, slapped on an extra $25 for what?!?!? Did they think we wouldn't tip, Did we look like problem people because we aren't. We tip well even when not exactly deserved, we understand this is their income. We didn't speak up, we needed to leave and they were kind of in no rush to take care of us anyways. So I spend the night thinking of this and it bugs me. I find their website and decide to email them to find out what their gratuity policy is, at what point do they decide to add that on? I also included the story about the flies and lack of water and us not really thinking she deserved much more than a 18% tip, let us decide that and not you. No answer. It's been two weeks now, no answer. This is what prompted my yelp review! Laying in bed this morning thinking about the credit card transactions and the gratuity I realized they totally ripped us off! We split the check between the two couples, the total (with gratuity) was $125.40 or change right around there. Why did each couple pay $75.40!!! I'm no math wizard as you can tell I didn't catch this right away I was so annoyed with the gratuity I wanted out quickly. So please be aware when you're paying they may try and be slick and mess with your bill. Also curious to know how the waitress dried her hands since I went into the bathroom right after her and there were no paper towels but that's besides the point. Thanks The Harding Tavern for ripping us off and never being responsible and responding to my email. We weren't a problematic table and we will no longer visit your establishment.
