Popped in here awhile ago when we were in the area - after literally YEARS of driving by wondering about it. Verdict is: it's a great spot!! I had a virtually perfect salad, which was generous, fresh and crisp. BF had a burger, also great. There was ONE woman tending to all the tables in the place. Nice and homey local dive to hang out. There's a pool table and a couple arcade games. Sometimes there's a DJ doing the music. The food was surprisingly solid for a dive bar, and portions weren't bad either. Drinks and everything were at a reasonable price point. Okay, I came here on a whim with some friends on a Sunday and I loved it! Their menu is very enticing! I split food with a friend: Figgy Stardust burger (with a turkey burger) and Fish and Chips (on special). It was one of the best fish and chips that I've had outside of Europe. The burger was savory and sweet. The fries were cooked perfectly, cripsy crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I can't speak to drinks, but I can speak to food. I loved what I had and I look forward to coming back. Also, shoutout to the Sunday bartender because he was working alone for a portion of my time there and he was still tending to all guests at the bar and in the dining room. read more

This first restaurant we visited was The Beetle Bar and Grill in the heart of the Ukrainian Village! Me and my friend was superrrr hungry from the flight and walking around looking for food so we decided to get hella food and split it. We got fried pickles to start. THOSE FRIED PICKLES WERE SO GOOD! As in avid pickle eater those fried ones HIT! For our entree we got the pizza with 2 different toppings pepperoni and buffalo chicken pizza and a BBQ Hamburger! The Beetle is a staple in the neighborhood. A big sports bar with great staff and even better food. The food's not your typical bar food either... their wings are their most famous I would say (my favorites: sweet chili or jerk), The Cuban sandwhich is also one of my go-to's, and you can't go wrong with one of their burgers. However, today being Sunday, my friend and I woke up later than usual but still craved breakfast food. We randomly stumbled across The Beetle's Brunch menu and was happy to learn they kept serving it until 3pm!!! Even though the menu is small, the portions were large and delicious. We both got the Breakfast Burrito - 10/10 would recommend getting this. They usually come with tutorials tater tots but they ran out...but their waffle fries are my favorite so I wasn't mad. read more

We love this place and I am so happy it is still in business after all the difficulties with COVID! The food is surprisingly good and definitely better than regular "bar" food. My FAV is the poutine!!! But the pizza is also delicious. The drinks are also good and reasonably priced! It does get a bit loud on weekends nights but otherwise comfortable ambiance especially for the booths near the fireplace. read more

Super cool spot, family friendly but also a cool older vibe at night. Went on a Thursday night and it wasn't crowded at all but lots of people hanging around. The bartender was also the waitress which was dope, she was super kind. Nachos were BOMB! Steak and Fennel sandwich could've used more sauce but the steak itself was juicy so I finished it anyways & the fries were crunchy and long. Definitely medium pricing on food but drinks were affordable. Props to the chef, the meat was all cooked perfectly!!! Whole experience 8/10 read more

The Beetle is a cute little bar (that also serves food) you can pop into for a drink. It's right next to Split Rail so it's a great option to grab a drink while you wait for your table. They have a good amount of beers on tap, plus a ton of bottles so you're sure to find a brew you like. They do have wines & hard liquors for you people who partake in other things. They also have a beer special each day apparently and when I went it was $4 Dale's Pale Ale. Service was very attentive and friendly throughout my time there! Solid neighborhood pub. Have been coming to the Beetle since its "Black" days and always have a good time and positive experience. Pretty much a no frills place with decent beer, cocktail and food menus. The food was ok - standard bar food plus pizzas. Wings were ok, not the meatiest and maybe frozen (?). Sliders were decent and on special for $2 each Wednesday. Nachos very yummy but smaller portion than other places, so not so shareable if you're a hungry or greedy type. Service was very good and attentive, until the end of the evening when we were waiting for our check. No biggie, as they only had two people working the floor/bar and the place got slammed around the time we were ready to leave. If I lived around here I could see myself patronizing often. read more

Alright. So I just spent ten minutes writing a negative review about the massage parkour next door so I thought I'd balance it out with some positivity: I walked out of a terrible massage a bit defeated, not relaxed and yearning for a bit of treat-yo-self that I didn't get from the massage. Luckily, The Beetle was next door and my lizard brain convinced me to saunter in. I have a long history with this place. It's always been great but I've never reviewed. Today, it was serendipitous in how excellent they were to me. I sat down and within seconds was offered to taste a new creation from the kitchen... on the House! Coupled with a delicious 3 Floyd's Necron 99 the food was great. Made even better by genuine sincerity and overall great hospitality. I don't expect free things, but part of the reason I love going to bars is that it's a place for cathartic experiences. Almost like THEY KNEW I needed some TLC. Good music. Great food and drinks. And sweet people behind the taps. That's what makes a bar a mainstay. This place epitomizes Chicago and has always supported the music scene here. 10/10 would recommend. This is my new neighborhood bar and on my second visit, a bug flew into my drink on the patio. Absolutely no one's fault, but I asked for a replacement because I didn't feel great about drinking it. On my bill, I got charged for both drinks. I asked if the first could be taken off since I didn't drink it- I really had only had a few sips when it happened. My server laughed and said "for the bug in your drink?" I said it was no one's fault but I didn't feel like I should expected to drink it and she replied with "I'll take it off, but that's crazy." I went inside to ask to speak to a manager which is already embarrassing lol and she interrupted me talking to someone at the bar to say that she was the manager and had been for 13 years and that it was a ridiculous request, most people would have taken the bug out of the drink. Maybe that's true. But I came here today after work as a treat to myself after a truly terrible day. I left in tears. People go out to eat or to grab a drink for all kinds of reasons. I came here today for dinner to give myself a small break and it was the opposite of that. The Beetle is a cute spot with pretty good food and drinks but I was not treated with kindness today. read more

So disappointing. This place used to be good years ago but they must have had staff changed after Covid as the food and quality have definitely dropped. Went here for a burger on a Friday night, patio seating is nice however they keep an ashtray next to the patio seating so everyone coming outside to smoke is right next to the diners. Beer selection was good, I liked a number of the burgers on the menu. Burgers are cooked to order, both mine and the person with me had over cooked burgers. The staff was polite but service was very slow. May give this one more chance but was underwhelmed on my first trip. read more

I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile and I'm super happy I did! The ambiance is so chill and fits right into the neighborhood! I love the fact they have a fire place for those cold winter nights and a chandelier to feel a little glam when you walk right in! The cocktails are really strong and the beer is super affordable. The Beetle Bar and Grill is a great place to stop by and enjoy for brunch! I came in on Sunday with my Boyfriend and a friend of ours. We walked in a little after the lunch hour and we were immediately greeted and seated. The place was empty, there was one other table finishing up inside as we were just sitting and there were maybe two outdoor tables that were occupied. Situations like this don't phase me, we were hungry / hungover / and excited to start this meal! I should mention that it was my first visit and definitely not my last! Coming in while it was not busy was actually kind of nice. It was quiet and the atmosphere was extremely relaxed, just what we needed that day. This gave me a chance to really gauge the place and overall I was very pleased! The service was great, our waitress was very sweet and really made it a point for us to enjoy our experience. The staff that day was very attentive! It took us a while to look over the menu, the guys decided to indulge in the Sunday drink special - The mimosa was good and the Bloody Mary's pack a punch! My Boyfriend went with the Steak and Eggs which he enjoyed. Our friend went with the Huevos Benedict which he said pack a punch of flavor with a little heat and he enjoyed it! In addition to their meals, the guys decided to split an order of the Biscuits & Gravy (Sausage Gravy) which they ended up raving about! I should mention that the biscuits & gravy is what drew them to the place to begin with! I thought it was really cool that their biscuits & gravy has a meatless option - I definitely need to try that the next time I visit! I ended up going with the Trucker Burger, I thought it was great that they catered to Vegetarians/Vegans, I was able to substitute the burger patty for a Vegan Patty.
