My grandmother stayed here for four weeks for physical therapy rehabilitation. I will say off the bat I was extremely hesitant to want my family member in any nursing facility because of horror stories people hear. The Harrison exceeded all my expectations - the reason being a handful of staff members. First off, when you walk in you'll likely meet Ms. Sherry - who is kind and helpful and makes you feel at ease immediately. Thank you for being so welcoming and assisting my family every day. Luis, PTA - thank you!! Luis worked with my grandmother daily getting her strength to be self sufficient at home and walking to and from her bedroom, etc. He was kind, encouraging and an absolute gift. Lauren, speech therapist - patient and encouraging, thank you for taking the time to work with my grandmother and endure my family asking tons of questions and visiting during therapy. Lastly, her nurse Arthur and CNA Elsa - thank you guys!! The care Elsa showed will never be forgotten and we are truly grateful. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the follow up during and after discharge - referrals for home health PT/OT was great but ordering equipment has been bumpy. Upon discharge we expected equipment or how to go about getting it and have yet to hear back from the company or our contact @ Harrison. read more

Our family placed my grandmother in this facility after a major surgery with the hope that she would receive the care and rehabilitation she needed to regain her strength. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. The biggest issue was the lack of timely care. If you pressed the call button, you could expect to wait an hour or more for someone to respond--even when assistance was urgently needed. There were multiple occasions where my grandmother needed immediate attention, had already pressed her call button over an hour earlier, and no one had come. We would end up calling the front desk ourselves just to have someone go to the nurses' station and tell the staff to get up and help her. That should never have to happen. We repeatedly brought these concerns to management and the higher-ups, hoping things would improve. Instead, our concerns were brushed off, dismissed, or met with excuses. Nothing ever changed. We were also repeatedly told certain doctors and specialists would be coming, but many never did. The physician rarely showed up, the nutritionist we were promised never came, and several other services they assured us would happen simply never did. Medication management was inconsistent, the food was poor, and overall communication was lacking. It felt like promise after promise was made during the admission process, only for those promises to be forgotten once my grandmother was admitted. I do want to recognize two employees who truly stood out. Vivian at the front desk was always kind, professional, and incredibly helpful. She has no control over the care provided on the floors, but she consistently did everything she could to help us. Nicole, the wound care nurse, was also outstanding. She cared for my grandmother every day with compassion and professionalism. The only reason we didn't immediately transfer my grandmother to another facility was because we trusted Nicole to continue managing her wound care. Aside from those two individuals, I cannot recommend this facility. The nurse aides were often unresponsive, doctors were rarely seen, medications weren't handled consistently, and the overall quality of care fell far below what was promised. If you're considering placing a loved one here, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. They deserve attentive, compassionate care--not long waits for basic needs, broken promises, and concerns that go ignored. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Please do not allow your loved ones to go into this facility. My father was hospitalized due to getting lost out in the heat as we suspect he has dementia along with being a dialysis patient , with heart issues and several other issues. He was sent over to this place to do rehabilitation and physical therapy in hopes to get him back up and moving around..He was maybe in there for 2 ish weeks? My mother received a call he had made an attempt to leave the building , while I understand this can be a frustrating situation for staff and a safety concern , this is apart of y'all's job. This place expects patients to be nailed to the bed so they don't have to get off their ass to actually take care of them. Again it is quite obvious he has dementia and sometimes gets mentally lost. It is y'all's job to watch him and make sure he is safe and secure , as my mother who's battling cancer and myself who works a full time job and trying to help around here at the house can not always be running up to the facility because he tried to "escape". They called us early this morning to come and pick him up because he essentially was a burden to them. We got no referral to another place for him to stay or get physical therapy. We drove up to this place , I go inside and the front desk lady led me into his room and said if I need any help to just see them at the desk. He still had an IV hooked up to him receiving antibiotics that he needed! I had to try and find someone outside of the room to help remove the IV and figure out what to do from there. They came in and sat there and told me "well we realized he would actually need to stay to finish his medication" and my mom had already driven up there so at this point we just wanted to get him home as this place is obviously not suitable of taking care of older patients who aren't "easy" They essentially were making the decision for us that he needed to stay there and that my mother or I needed to sit with him all day to monitor him or else they would have to "find a nurse willing to sit with him throughout the day" Isn't that y'all's job???? So pretty much I had just left him there in order for him to finish out his antibiotics as we had no other choice. Not even 4 hours later they call again! They literally put him in a bus and drove him to our house to dump him off on us and now have a home nurse coming out to administer the remaining IV antibiotics....which we could've done all of this from the beginning if having him there was so hard. Not only this but the staff there are rude and act like they are being bothered to do their job. No one forced yall to have this job , the least you can do is respect others and do what yall are paid to do. I also don't understand why the nurse along with others had her hair down and long nails when you are in a healthcare field and that's very unsanitary! This place is so unorganized and disgusts me. If you care about your loved ones don't send them here...no wonder yall have 2 stars. read more

Horrible experience with my mother-in-law who was recovering from a sudden hip replacement and she has dementia. They kicked her out after one week because she was willing around too much and allegedly going into peoples rooms and she didn't even get on the therapy and they just sent her back to her memory care and she's just one week postop from her hip replacement. They didn't even give my mother-in-law a chance like I saw so much staff there does anybody supervisor help anybody I saw many people wheeling down the halls the time when I came to visit her with my kids and there was a ton of staff, but evidently they can't help one woman wheeling around in her wheelchair solo. I'm writing this review out of deep concern for my father's well-being and the well-being of other residents at The Harrison at Heritage. Over the past few months, we've witnessed poor hygiene standards, lack of communication, and consistent disrespect from staff--not just toward our family, but toward others as well. Two months ago, my father nearly died under their care. I noticed his eyes were swollen, his skin was pale, and he looked extremely unwell. When I asked the staff what was going on, they had no answers. I had to personally insist they call a doctor, and only then was he taken to the hospital. If I hadn't spoken up, I truly believe he might not be alive today. Whenever we ask for something simple--like help with his care or attention to an issue--the staff often responds with attitude and resistance. Sadly, these are not isolated incidents. I've spoken with other families who have experienced similar treatment and share the same concerns. Our seniors deserve far better. I sincerely hope this review helps raise awareness and pushes for immediate changes in how residents are treated at this facility. read more

Early morning staff played a viscous trick on my wife, who is here for rehab for her broken femur bone. They told her the discomfort with her stomach was due to a stitch she had in her stomach that had not been remove, that she would have to be rushed to the hospital to get it removed. Words cannot even express the horrible care my husband received while he was at The Harrison at Heritage this past June. The "Nurses" don't care about the patients that are left in their care. I I tried to reach the nurses station one night and I was placed on hold for over a 1 1/2 hrs, while I was texting their VP and Executive Director asking for help. My husband is 91 years old and I was concerned that he was trying to get out of bed, he can't walk or stand. I had a camera in his room and I have screen shots !!! of nurses coming in and doing nothing. If you want more specifics, please DM me. WORSE PLACE EVER TO PUT A LOVED ONE IN. I was recovering from hospitalization for Double Pneumonia and Diabetic Neuropathy. There has to be a serious problem at the institution simple questions about how a patient can care for themselves simple ones. Are met for the most part with the answer "I DON'T KNOW!". Well I have a very strong opinion about that answer. They should not be working there get them out. Well just why such a cryptic answer? I needed physical and speech therapy and I have nothing but high praise for that department. All the therapists in Speech and Physical Therapy, they Do know, they answer questions and they impressed me. I have a very high opinion of 2 nurses one named Melissa and one named Evelyn. After 1st arriving I was feeling overwhelmed and Melissa reassured me and I deeply appreciated that attention by her. One nurse I can't remember her name but I nicknamed her Ms.High Energy. She was always moving and moving fast. She was a very positive lady and as a patient I appreciated that. Please review this , there are things that need correcting. There are people sit in the back of the "bountiful room, employees, on the clock, and yacking on their cell phones. I had to go to the front desk to speak of my grievances. The woman behind the counter either had a pleasant smile or a lousy smirk on her face. I got to speak to the social worker, But if this is your organization. If you are responsible for human care. My brother was at Harrison for a few weeks for rehab after breaking a hip. He received excellent help. The case worker, Kristin, and the insurance liaison, Joy, couldn't have been more helpful. The facility was very clean and the PT staff was great. I had trusted my mother's care there a few years earlier, and it was still wonderful. Highly recommened. read more

Do not take your loved one to this facility. It looks beautiful on the outside but it is not inside from the cleanliness, staff (administration, nurses) . Our Mother n law was transferred here after leaving the hospital to regain strength to take care for herself and walk again. Her medications were all off and they added a sleeping pill that she has never taken before. She has severe diarrhea and needs to be changed often or she will get a rash. She definitely got a rash. We called several times and asked to speak with a director or someone that was over the facility. Her name was Laura. She never called. The nurses ignore the call light and retaliate if you say anything. I even had a nurse call me and tell me she was changing her and called her a liar. Little did she know I was on the phone timing them. At times it took 1 hr and they would put her on the bed pan and leave her on it for 1 hr. They constantly remind you they are understaffed. Stop accepting patients if you can not give quality care. They did not give her a shower until after I spoke with the case managers. I told them she had not had a shower since she had been there and they told me there is no way. We'll it happened 7 days no shower. I realized they did not help her brush her teeth either the entire time the was there. She was served chicken everyday when we knew there were other food items to eat. The nutritionist did not come and see her and provide a menu after we were told 4 times they would. So the main issue was not reacting to medical issues. My mother n law was all of a sudden very tired. She said it was from physical therapy. The second day she was a little worse not talking, not aware she had visitors. Very lathargic and not responsive definitely not herself. The third day was Monday I called the admistration and expressed that I was very concerned. I explained how before she came there she had an infection and she was on antibiotics. The antibiotics were stopped a few days ago. My concern was the infection did not go away. The hospital put in the notes for her to be retested after finishing antibiotics so I wanted the doctor to call me and see if they had already tested her if not if they could. I did receive a call from a nurse and i was told they were going to pull blood and run test for infection. I got there at 5pm and they still had not pulled blood. I asked the nurse what are her vitals. Her temperature was low , blood pressure was low and her body temperature was low. On top of that she was not even able to open her eyes. I asked the nurse what did the doctor say and he said cover her up with a blanket. I asked the nurse" you have seen her quite a bit does she look normal to you" and he said "No". So why are yall not reacting. I had them call the ambulance . The paramedics immediately knew something was wrong. Her blood pressure was low, oxygen , her temp and her ekg was abdnormal. Hospital confirmed she has the same infection. The same infection that sent her into septic shock and almost killed her. She would have died at that nursing home. They rummaged through her room when she was not there. They give patients sleeping pills so they do not bother them. I asked several times for a list of the medications they were giving her and they would make up reason not to tell me. When we were leaving I asked the nurse for a print out of the medications they gave her and he said ok then another nurse came and started messing with it and said no we can not give it to you we will send it to the hospital. they hospital checked and confirmed they did not send it . The hospital requested it and we still have no report. I know my rights and I know they have to provide me the information I requested. I have contacted a lawyer and medicad to make them aware. I am also in the process of contacting the company that owns them. The company also owns 40 other nursing homes so hopefully they will react to the information given. Nursing homes more often than not have a bad reputation unfortunately due to a few bad apples that either shouldn't be working in that industry to begin with or are just burned out. But there are occasions where you come across some people with huge hearts and that has been my experience so far with this facility. The Director of Activities, Chris Ricketts has been a true blessing for my mom. He checks on her often, brings her snacks and went above and beyond on her birthday today. I hear from him weekly and it's such a relief to know that he's there caring for my mom when I can't be there. Can't thank him and the staff that care for my mom enough. read more

This facility has the potential get a 5 star rating if they would concentrate less on exterior appearance /decorations ( although very beautiful) and had better communication & training with their staff. Most of the all nurses and aides are wonderful with my family member. I witnessed those that genuinely care . Even offering a hug when needed. Sadly there are still a few sour apples that shouldn't be working there. A person either cares or doesn't. It just may not be their field to work in. And those few people can make the stay miserable for my family member. On a positive note....The facility did take immediate action when I had issues/complaints. There's always room for improvement . This has got to be one of the most uncaring home there is...my daughter was there for rehab..for a short term ..the second day she was there I had to call the state in...my daughter couldn't walk and they let her fall out of bed..the nurses do not wear no name tags..they hurt her legs picking her up...then she was taken to rehab in a tee shirt and no pants..one of the aides didn't want to dress her..so she was in the rehab room with no pants on...then after dialysis get tray of food sit there for hours and was cold as ice !..they never washed her face or brushed her hair...and the man who took her to rehab never fastened the seat belt in the van !.. no one would listen to the family...and this is just part of the story ..too much to list....but my daughter will never go back there again !there are so many things I could tell you about...but won't waste your time...I should have gotten a lawyer to take care of this for me ....thank you read more

RUN! Don't walk away from this place. They denied needed (and insurance approved) medical equipment and refused to do rehab therapy. Mom was there FOR REHAB after surgery. They did nothing. No exaggeration. Nothing! This place appears pretty and clean up front but is FILTHY where the actual patients are. Black stuff oozed out of the walls when Mom tried to shower! I couldn't get her out of there fast enough. Even when I was there the staff was neglectful and rude. Pain meds weren't delivered on schedule; some didn't arrive at all, though her chart said she got them... Again, with me there watching the clock and keeping a med log of my own. I'm genuinely appalled this place is even open! Seriously, RUN AWAY! One lady in administration did go above and beyond trying to help Mom and make her comfortable. I'm really grateful for her. She was truly awesome, but was the only one to try to remedy the situation. The only one. Unfortunately she had little genuine effect; but she really cared. If my wife and I could give a no star or negative star as a rating for this "business" we would. Where to start? The beginning would be logical. When my wife's mother got placed here by the powers that be, we went to see her. It was later in the evening due to work schedules. At 7 PM the nurse was in the room getting information. Her mother had been there since 5 PM or earlier. The nurse was there nearly the entire time we were there. We helped how we could but dang did they want a kidney or something?!? After all the questions about meds and stats etc. she still didn't get needed meds for days afterwards. We had to badger the facility to find out why. Her mother could not eat the food there and I don't wonder why. I walked in during "meal time" and the smell was like feces. How appetizing is that? The place looks nice but that is where the good stops. They worked her too hard in physical therapy and she has been sore over a week after getting her out of that inferno. We had to take her homemade food so she could maintain her weight. They don't give family members enough information. They used scare tactics on a elderly woman to make her think she had to pay over $4,000 before they would release her AND told her that she must have a wheelchair to even leave. This "facility" does not care about the person. They care about the money plain and simple. My wife tore into them and only got an apology I feel was complimentary and not heart felt. I could go on and on but would need a publisher to expose this place for the sham it truly is. Do not trust your loved ones with this uncaring, bottom dollar excuse for care. read more

I understand things are different during this pandemic....but this place is terrible...can't ever get a call back from my mothers case worker...seems like the only thing they care about is keeping her in there until the insurance stoped paying...then magically we are told she is well enough to leave....I would never have a family member in this place again. read more

This place is great! They have been attentive and helpful to my grandpa and assist him with his physical therapy everyday. They have many activities including church service on Sunday's and volunteers coming in on the weekends to perform, sing, play music and much more! Beware of this place, the building is nice but outside of 1 or 2 nurse the nursing staff is horrible. They do not know how to properly assess patients and they do not care about the patients. My dad was in obvious distress breathing over 4 breaths a minute and the nurse just blew my sister and I off like everything was ok. When my dad left Texas Rehab he was walking but the rehab staff at The Harrison did not walk him and he has declined. They told me he wasn't safe to walk but for the first 10 days they didn't give him a bedside urinal and a bed alarm. My dad tried to get up to go to the restroom and pulled his peg tube out. The care given at this place is the worst I have seen in my 11 years in healthcare if I could rate it a zero I would. read more

I recently required rehab following two separate back surgeries. Both surgeries required rehab and stays at the Harrison at Heritage in Keller. I was very impressed with the facility and surroundings. Overall though the care was acceptable, there were times when lapses in care did occur that should not have occured. For the most part staff members are welled trained, professional and attentive to patients needs. Several were exceptional such as Glenda Maramda and Nurse Melissa Lopez. Thank you to all! My aunt was admitted in mid December; there one week before she was given a shower and that was by the therapist NOT the nursing staff. She was scheduled to have showers on Mon/Wed/Fri, but the nurse would conveniently come when she was in physical therapy and then tell her that she missed her chance to shower and would have to wait until the next time; she was admonished by nurse when she threw up in the trash can; nurses just leave medication on side table and DO NOT make sure she takes during the day; they don't call patients by their name, just "mama or honey"-the nursing staff could care less about the patients. The director of nursing was contacted via phone and email and to this date has failed to respond. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!! read more

Although this facility is beautiful on appearance inside and out the communication with staff is awful. My Mom is 93 and spent 24 days here for rehab on a broken pelvis and recovering from a 3 1/2 hour surgery for internal bleeding from the fall. If you want answers to anything they fail to return messages. After the 24th day we were told that Medicare is stopping her coverage. We filed an appeal b/c my Mom was still not able to walk unassisted and in a very weak fraile condition. The appeal we were told was denied b/c the facility doctor reported she was able to care for herself. This was 2 days after that same doctor told me that Mom would not ever be able to live alone or stay alone. We were in shock that this facility would give a report like that when it is so obvious she still needed much more help. They were going to charge us $270 a day for her to continue to stay. We had 2 days to find care for her on Good Friday and Easter weekend. Unbelievable. The staff always seems to be in bad moods with the exception of two aides (Elsa and Stephanie, who did take good care of my Mom on their shifts) and also PT's Louis and Emily who did care for my Mom. It is really a shame that our elderly citizens do not matter to this facility. All we wanted was for our Mom to be treated like they would want their Mom to be treated. Most all the nurses were cranky and not very pleasant and didn't want you to bother them. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend. The strange thing is we were lucky to find another rehab facility that Medicare approved for another 70 days. Hard to understand why this facility didn't care enough. There is so much to this horrible experience but I hope you don't place your loved one there. read more

I wish I could give this place a negative rating. My father stayed here for a week of respite care while my sister (who is his primary caregiver) took a vacation. How could things get so messed up in one week? Yet three months later I am still trying to get explanations for phantom medication charges when we brought all his own prescriptions with us per their instructions. It might help if I actually got a call back from the administration staff, but after three ignored attempts chances don't look good. I've learned my lesson and we will never darken their door again. They treated my brother like disposable garbage. First off, they left him NAKED for 2 1/2 days until I threw a fit to dress him. Then, he told staff he was having trouble breathing and they rolled their eyes and walked out and left him. He called me a half hour later to see what he should do. No one on staff answered the phone. I told him to hang up and call 911. I clearly heard a staff member come in the room at that point and tell him he didnt need to be calling no 911. I told him to call them NOW AND IF i CALLED BACK AND HE HAD NOT CALLED 911 i WAS SENDING IN THE POLICE. The paramedics came and took him out of there that night. He had an immediate blood transfusion because his count was so low, he had a terrible urinary tract infraction and his lungs were full of fluid which is why he could not breath. He died 4 days later. Then we find out he is missing a great deal of money and his checkbook is gone and someone tried to get into his accounts. TERRIBLE PLACE. If you love your family member DONT GO TO THIS AWFUL place. I have tried calling the administrator LAURA DEAN several times. She has never once picked up the phone or returned my phone call. KEEP YOUR LOVED ONES AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Just an example of how inept these people are, I sent my brothers best friend in to get my brothers things and while he was waiting there was a medical transport guy there to pick up a patient. Had been there for 20 minutes and they could NOT find the patient. How do you lose an entire person? PLEASE dont take anyone you love to this place. read more

It is a very nice place, the staff is courteous, the problem we had was getting anything done for example getting help to go to the bathroom, or off of the toilet. Or being weighed every day, (with congestive heart failure it is important that this is done ever day or every second day) the excuse we heard "we haven't gotten an order in for it but i will request it." or we would hear "yes we can do that". My wife had to have rehab so we chose this place because it is close to my house. This place is a JOKE. Only one person named Elsa cared anything about trying to help my wife. She had a wound vac that is attached to her stomach. Someone clamped off the suction hose. Now I know that stuff happens, but not one nurse, aide or even the doctor, saw it wasn't working right after I told them it wasn't and left it clamped off until the next morning when a woman came in to change the dressing. BOY WAS SHE PISSED. Total incompetence at this place. The meals are horrible and not enough to sustain life, that's if you don't get shorted. Very Bad Treatment!!! read more

The Harrison is a great place for stroke rehabilitation. I was skeptical about bringing my husband here after reading some of the reviews but now I'm glad I did. He's received nothing but great care.
