My initial experience with Sam, the nurse practitioner, and the physician assistant was very pleasant. They were warm, professional, and made me feel optimistic that I had found a family practice where I could establish long-term care. Unfortunately, my experience changed after my laboratory results became available. A receptionist named Britney called me and immediately began discussing my results without first asking whether I was in a private place or prepared to receive medical information. I was at work and had to interrupt her and ask her to wait while I moved somewhere private. I had assumed she was calling only to schedule a follow-up appointment. I believe staff members discussing medical information should always confirm that the patient is able to speak privately before sharing results. When I returned for my follow-up appointment, there also appeared to be some confusion at the front desk. Although I had confirmed my appointment the previous day, the doctor stated that he had not known I was coming and had taken another patient before me. He apologized, but the delay made me late for work. Once I was called back, the process felt rushed. I was quickly directed onto the scale and then placed in a room with a medical student. I was not asked whether I was comfortable having a student participate in my appointment. The student repeatedly described my hormonal status in a way that did not match what I had previously been told, and our discussion about vitamin D supplementation felt dismissive rather than collaborative. I was also uncomfortable with the student shifting and rocking from side to side in my peripheral vision while the doctor discussed some concerning health information. That made an already stressful conversation more difficult. Later, when the doctor returned and spoke with me privately, the interaction was much more comfortable. He was pleasant, made eye contact, explained things more clearly, and ultimately did a good job addressing my concerns. I wish the receptionist had demonstrated a better understanding of patient privacy, that I had been asked for consent before a medical student joined the appointment, and that the visit had not felt so rushed. Staffing problems, scheduling confusion, and the absence of a manager may explain why the office was having a difficult day, but patients should not have to absorb the consequences. Overall, the doctor handled the appointment well toward the end, and my first visit with the other clinical staff had been positive. I spent considerable time researching family-practice physicians because I hoped to establish ongoing care here. For that reason, I am willing to give the doctor and the office another chance before deciding whether this practice is the right fit for me.

I did learn a lot from him and understood why he was recommended by my primary cardiologist. Now that some time has passed, I need to think about different options for managing my heart health. Thankfully, there are some newer offerings that can make the whole process more straightforward, and less major / scary. I am going to have a tiny procedure later this month. So far, my interaction with Dr. Alves' staff at this office has been positive. Holding back a star as it took a while to be seen. Overall, everything went pretty smoothly. Will have more to offer by way of experiences in the next few months. I have gratitude that an experienced heart rhythm expert is nearby and available to support eastern Ventura County residents.

Lots of problems with the surgery site post surgery, messages sent with pictures, nothing. Just bad. He doesn't care. That's more than obvious. If you know him and feel the need to have to go back to him hes now at Tacoma Virginia Mason medical center as a Kaiser Permanente doctor. All I can say is Good Luck. He's not got the bedside manner that one would expect and doesn't like it when you ask questions. When a family member to the patient is scared and alarmed at whats going on post surgery, (hematoma, the wound dehisced and a good size thrombosis in the subclavian vein where the leads were located and consequently pulled out through) Alves thinks it better to stay away and not bother to explain or be pleasant -- he just can't do it, he literally ghosts you. He can't take criticism either. Arrogance usually makes people do this. Meanwhile the patient has a long road of recovery ahead and Alves has gone.

The nurse wearing a warm sweater got me at 5 minutes after my appointment time took me in the exam room ash's wanted me to disrobe for the ekg and I said it was freezing. She got me an old airline type blanket, I said thank you. I thought I had an appointment with Dr Dev bc that's who I called, that's who's name I made the appointment with and especially since he called me at my home the night before the appointment to confirm I was going to show up. Funny thing... I saw he was in his office but I NEVER was seen by him... NO... I was seen by his nurse practitioner. WTF?? I'm just trimming to get approved fire a minor surgery to change my battery for a pain stimulator for my back, I've never had any heart problems, some have any heart complaints, yet the "not a doctor, nurse practitioner" wants me to undergo a 45 minute stress test for something even she told me I don't need to worry about but I need the stress test just to make sure. WTF? I don't have high cholesterol, diabetes, abnormal for me lab tests, cardiac complaints or ??? but I need a stress test that I can be given something to keep me calm when I have this test. That's all I need to get my battery pack replaced... so why can I get " relaxed" for them and not for the doctor that does see me that just needs to change my battery. I don't know, I do know that Dr Dev doesn't give a f%#k about me bc he never saw me. He never said a nurse practitioner was going to do his job even though he personally confirmed our appointment. And me, I really don't think a nurse practitioner is the same thing as a cardiac specialist. Good for them that they continued their education and became a NP but I didn't have an appointment with them. The doctor I had the appointment to see was there but never saw me or even told me Jack squat and now his NP wants me to get an expensive Stress Test? Is this the face of modern healthcare? Is there a way to give a score lower than 1 ?

The scheduling woman scoffed at me and said, well we are booking into July. I told her he had a heart attack last week and the hospital and his primary would like him to been seen as soon as we can. She literally scoffed, chuckled and looked at her co-worker and said, Well we STILL don't have an appointment until July. The attitude and distain she had in her voice was not only shocking, but the most rude and uncompassionate thing I have ever seen in a medical office. I was not surprised they were booked up, but how she said what she said was inexcusable. I don't know if Dr. Aliabadi knows this is what is happening in his office, but I hope he does something. On the flip side, we went to another office in the same building and after hearing what we said, that front office person went to great measures to get us in the very next week and had to ask staff to make scheduling accommodations due to our situation. I took all of his guidance and recommendations seriously have a new bp med, dietary changes and my blood pressure is now under control after just two weeks, my blood pressure has not been able to get under control for years! I've seen some very disheartening reviews, maybe switch to the Camarillo location? Everybody is wonderful in that office.
