After the first year a fuse blew on it. They wanted to charge a hundred dollars for a service charge plus parts. I bought the fuse for six bucks. Now after four years the unit is toast. Over $10,000 wasted on garbage. I had an actual tech come look at it and he explained that they didn't get the couplings on correctly and it slowly leaked out the coolant, thus, frying it. It wasn't done correctly from the start. After asking the tech if she would spend $10k every five years for a heater she told me she didn't need to answer that. When I asked if they were going to fix it she said it would cost me. About then I called her every bad word in Die Hard. I knew the call was going to end poorly when she laughed at the age of the unit. Fyi, I do monthly cleaning maintenance and take care of my shit. read more

My ductless heat pump hadn't been cleaned in five years because the other company I used didn't do anything other than pour some chemicals into the system and get pen ink all over the remote control. I'd heard good things about the Heat Pump Store and decided to give them a try. Todd came out right on time and was friendly and polite, taking his shoes off in the house, which was much appreciated. He showed me the buildup on my indoor units, which was pretty gross, and immediately got to work dismantling them to do a deep clean, patiently answering my many questions and tolerating my hovering along the way. I couldn't believe how much gunk he got out! He was so thorough and meticulous that he ended up having to come back later to finish up, dismantling and scrubbing the outdoor unit until it shone like new. He even brought some extra pads to level out the unit. All this at the end of a long day, when he easily could have said we were out of time - he truly went above and beyond. I purchased a floor mounted Fujitsu heat pump in 2015 from the Heat Pump Store. They were the only retailer that I found that offered this style as opposed to the wall mounted style. Our house has lots of windows and low ceilings and this seemed to be a great alternative. They seemed knowledgeable and confident in their sales and helped me thru the EWEB and Federal Rebate offered at that time. I signed up for the routine cleaning and maintenance. After two years I smelled mold and mildew in our house and it was coming from the unit. I used a flashlight to look inside and saw mold spores all over the wall and a filthy fan roller. They sent out a technician that discovered the unit had been hung at an angle and that water from condensation had been pooling in the unit as opposed to draining. The drain hole is super small and was disgustingly clogged with slime as well, a poor design. How this was over looked the first year is beyond me. The drain line under the house was also not properly installed to drain and additional water was building up there. The roller style blowers get filthy and you have to ask them to be cleaned at an additional cost to the maintenance fee. Why anyone should have to ask to have them cleaned seems ridiculous. It is not easy to get them out and that is probably why. Another poor design. I love the air conditioning and the heat but I feel like consumers should be warned to make sure the air that is moving thru their house is healthy. As soon as we started using the air conditioning this year I got a sinus infection and looked in the unit and saw the dirty roller and called to tell them and sure enough we are due for a cleaning.."we were gonna call you next week" Oh really? At $4,235 I really expected better. read more
