If I could leave a "0" I totally would. If you are considering purchasing a pellet stove, my recommendation would have to be "Don't do it!" As much as we enjoy having ours, having it serviced is another issue. We've had our pellet stove for just a few years now and we use The Heat Source located in Lancaster for the yearly cleaning and repairs. The customer service is horrible. I feel like Darla and Justin are the ONLY 2 employees there. If so, our calls go unanswered or promised to "return the call" but never do and getting a technician to come service is beyond ridiculous. The Heat Source will only come out when your location fits their schedule. I get it. If that's the case, get Darla and Justin some help. Could be days and sometimes weeks before you hear from them. Unfortunately, they are the only company that services Antelope Valley, so we don't have another choice. Hopefully, this review will help you when deciding to make that purchase. read more

Except one of the times they said they would send someone over to our address with a no-show. We aren't even going to waste our time on them. Fireplace refractory panels were cracked and turned into a jigsaw puzzle when I removed them. I went into Heat Source to ask if they sold the panels. After speaking with Josh the Sales guy , I decided to have their staff do the install. The appt was set for 2 weeks later due to the amount of work they had already scheduled. Outstanding service on my Harman pellet stove which had been neglected for far too long. I thought that I had been taking good care of the maintenance but in fact had been missing some key areas that Justin found and fixed. He proved to be well trained and experienced and went through the stove from A-Z finishing up by installing a new door gasket. I could not recommend them any higher and will be doing an annual service from here on out. read more

Our fireplace wall cracked, we wanted it replaced. Took photos to Heat Source so they could see exactly what we needed. Claimed they had the proper replacement, scheduled a date for their repairman to do the job. We were quoted a fee for the job plus cost of materials. Their person showed up on time for the appt, looked at the fireplace and told us he brought the wrong part. However, fireplace cement would repair the crack - which is not what we wanted to do. He informed us that we could get the cement at the store and it would be easy for us to do it ourselves. Then charged us for the full service fee. When we objected we were told we should thank Heat Source for saving us so much money. He spent the majority of his time trying to sell us on converting to gas logs for $6,000. read more

We had an apt about a month ago. My son turned the pellet stove on in the am so of course they couldn't service the machine. That's our fault. However, the 9 phone messages I've left since then we're unanswered until yesterday. I got a phone call from the heat source stating they would be here today between 11 and 2. THEY CALLED ME and NO ONE SHOWED UP! When I called no one even knew who I was. No apologies given, no one Is coming to service our pellet stove. They did not care! They did not offer a solution! I've recommended them to friends in the past but that will never happen again. read more

Be ware of this company. Service is horrendous. They certainly don't know what customer service means. Called them to clean my wood burning stove in March, off season, guy never cleaned the cap, hence the smoke coming in my house when I started it this fall. I called right away when the smoke alarm went off. Since it was November, they were booked, I was scared and frustrated and the owner did not like my concern so he hung up on me. I called back and they set up an appointment for the next week. Guy shows up and of course he's early because prior appts were cancelled due to light rain. So he says he can't go up on the roof due to some moisture. Not bad enough to avoid the roof, I would have done it. Says he'll come back in a week. In the meantime he says I should go up on the roof and clean the cap myself. Well, haven't heard from them. Waste of money in March. Worthless customer service, rude, inefficient. I would NOT recommend. Spend your money elsewhere, you certainly get what you pay for. Wish I could get a refund for the non cleaning done in March. read more

If your smart you wont shop here. Called and talked to a young lady about an exhaust pipe and explained what I needed and she said all I would need was a pipe going from the stove to outside. She said I did not need a pipe going up that just through the wall would do it. She also explained that's what they do. So I bought the piping and accessories only to find out that I do need the pipe to go up and away from the intake pipe. Now selling these stoves she should have know that. Well since I needed additional pipe I went to Lowes and bought the complete kit. When returning their product they charged me a 15% restock fee and I would have been ok with that had I been given the correct information and was sold what I really needed. Then to make it worst the young man who was handling my return tried to charge me a restock fee on the tax too and when I ask him about it he said that the restock fee is on the total bill which includes the tax. I explained that I didn't think that was legal and would have to contact the California tax board. He then decided I was right and refigured it. So if you have returned anything here you might want to check to see if you have been charged a restock fee on the tax amount. If you have been charged you might want to contact the California tax board too. I would think they would be interested into looking into their books to see how many people have been charge for a return on tax. read more
