No, it's not the Four Seasons, but I did have a good two night stay here, and didn't experience any issues with cleanliness or maintenance as some have described. My room was clean, somewhat-modern and was a good size. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The gym was bare bones but functional. Parking was pricy at $30/night but there aren't many better options nearby for cheaper. Location, of course, is great for most activities and destinations in New Brunswick.

The hotel- sitting area in the front is where the drunk, unstable, homeless panhandlers were being chaotic the entire day.

Currently staying at The Heldrich in New Brunswick, NJ, and I'm counting the hours until checkout. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend getaway with my husband has turned into one of the most stressful hotel stays I've ever had. The surrounding area feels unsafe--panhandlers are constantly outside, and tonight a visibly intoxicated man was yelling and swearing before storming into the hotel lobby. The front desk staff (a young lady) tried to manage the situation alone, but there was no security present to assist her. It was a genuinely scary moment, and no guest should have to feel that vulnerable in a hotel lobby. Inside, things weren't much better. Despite prepaying for our stay and paying ahead of time, we were hit with a $150 security hold at check-in--no prior notice. The amenities are practically nonexistent. The king size room is small and outdated. The spa and pool were major reasons we booked this hotel, but the spa was unavailable and the pool had such a strong chemical smell of chlorine and salt that it stung my eyes. Not exactly the relaxing dip I had in mind. Noise was another issue. The guest next door had a dog that barked nonstop. I reported it, hoping for some relief, but all I got was an apology and a vague promise that security would "do their rounds." Nothing changed. Even the valet service, which costs $30 per 24 hours, was a mess. They couldn't locate our car when we needed it and took far too long to retrieve it. This hotel charges premium prices but delivers a chaotic, uncomfortable experience. I won't be returning--and I strongly urge others to reconsider before booking. Safety, rest, and basic hospitality should never be optional.

Trash that had been sitting in the hallway for an entire day.. gross

I would not recommend! We called before booking to specifically ask if they had a hot tub, we arrive at 8pm and the sign on the front counter said pool closed for maintenance. The next day we go to check out the pool area. No hot tub. They say the pool is heated yet it was freezing. Trash left in the hallway for multiple hours. And as you can see by the pictures this read mold and peeling paint in the bathroom. As for the hot tub situation we asked to speak to a manager and she completely wrote us off like we were asking for the world in regards to the reservation desk completely lying about having a hot tub!

It is tough to review this place because it has a beautiful exterior and is in a great location. The staff is friendly and is has the potential to be a top hotel, but just kind of misses. As a start, the hotel seems to be going through some renovations. Our room was complete, but it was odd. This had two beds, but they were not equivalent--one was a little smaller and lower. Then one major problem was that the door would not close on its own--when you left, you needed to pull it closed (which has huge security concerns). We had family staying at other rooms and one of their rooms also had problems with the door. Then the room had some odd issues also. For example, the alarm went off at an odd time and the bathroom did not have a fan. With all this being said, I would consider staying here again--but hope they pay attention to detail (particularly if they want to charge like a top hotel).

    Filthy headboard.

It's just they had two events going on and didn't know where to put me now thinking back. Then 12:30 AM someone was banging on my door furiously. Front desk said it was World Cup people who were angry the whole floor wasn't designated for them. I was scared and up most of the night. The manager listened the next day to my story but wasn't so helpful. Story ends where I called the general manager and got a full refund. The whole experience was unusual and upsetting but it was nice I got reimbursed. In general, the hotel is nice with ballroom areas. I was there for a yearly dance event. The whirlpool was great too! The gym was a little small but good enough to get in an OK workout. Their glass tavern bar seemed nice when I peaked in, but I never made it there. This hotel is close enough to the train station so it's convenient but I always find it too crowded...but that's just me. This was my first time staying there overnight. I plan on going back yearly for my dance event, but next time I'll make it for the day only! The fours stars is because the hotel is nice overall.

Spent the evening in a 2 Queen-bed room. Looked modern and up-to-date; complete with flat screen television, microwave, spacious mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker, hair dryer, alarm clock, etc. The bedroom area was very clean and comfortable. Sheets were crisp, air conditioning blasting. Bed was comfortable - perhaps a bit springy but the variety in pillows made for a restful sleep. The bathroom could use a once over - mold on the ceiling above the shower and a very slow-draining sink (basin was full after just one handwashing). Otherwise, had all the amenities I could ask for. The Dove products in the bathroom were a nice surprise. A good amount of ambient noise (such as when a neighboring room turns their shower on and the herd of elephants apparently staying in the room above us) but nothing that kept me up at night over the white noise of the AC. The breakfast included in the stay was serviceable. Dry cereal, oatmeal, fruit, eggs, sausages, a variety of bread products like croissants, toasts, and biscuits, an automatic pancake maker, yogurt, milk (cow and soy), juice, coffee and more! It was incredibly busy and it was clear the employees were rushing around trying to keep up (and primarily succeeding given the chaos). I'd stay here again if the need arose.

They have assorted cereals, hot foods, and refreshments. Now unto the room. Asked for a king bed and got a queen bed instead. The room really needs to be updated. There are stains in places where there shouldn't be. The pipes make noises when you use the sink. I guess they use dove as the main brand for the shampoo, body wash, conditioner, lotion, and bar soap. Nothing came out of the lotion even though it felt like something was inside. Very strange and deceiving. At least the parking is free for the guests. I don't see myself staying here again.

The first room I was in had a broken AC stuck at 71 and they wouldn't answer the phone when I called, so I had to walk down to the front desk where we had to argue with the front desk employee to be moved into a room with working AC because he wanted us to wait for someone to come check on it instead of moving us to we could sleep at 11pm. That same night they were hosting a prom which made it impossible to leave and very hard to even enter due to the cars parking in the circle outside of it. The parking garage attached, which we paid to park in, was filled with highschoolers throwing trash and driving recklessly through it. We had asked for housekeeping 3 times and no one ever came, to which the front desk told us, they won't do it unless we are in the room. I had to ask for towels 4 times over 12 hours for anyone to bring them to the room. Our last night, the AC in the room we were moved to began to stop working as well and it became extremely hot. The elevators are also extremely slow.

No street parking, garage parking only. I'm not a fan of parking garages and this one did nothing to ease that creepy uneasy feeling I always get when I have to park in one alone. Thankfully it wasn't very full so I was able to park relatively close to the exit. Once inside the immediate interior is open with good lighting and a waterfall. Some might find it a bit dated but I thought it was fairly nice. Front desk personnel was friendly and check-in was done pretty quickly. What I didn't like was finding out about the $17 charge for parking. I guess that's basically the going rate for parking in the area but I still find parking deck charges ridiculous. For my budget minded peeps, there's also a $50 hold on your card for incidentals. The elevators weren't the best looking things but they worked and got me to the 8th floor. The room was mediocre at best. I expected more from a Hilton. I guess Paris is the only one who gets those gorgeous rooms they always show on their commercials. I was VERY happy that I had booked on a discount site and wasn't charged full price. Now for the room details. The covering on the side wall light fixture was falling off. I tried to straighten it back up but it was too loose. I didn't want to cause any further damage so I left it. The furniture was older with obvious wear in some places. The paintings on the wall had a slight creepy look to them. The bathroom had rust along the doors, the tub had obvious wear spots, weird 'substance' on the wall and the light switch fell off when I went to turn the light off. I was able to place it back on the wall but I couldn't turn the light off at all. I slept with it on all night. It didn't bother me but I hate the thought of wasting electricity for no reason. The AC was slightly loud and would make a sound that reminded me of a small dog bark. Not terribly loud but definitely a sound. It did startle me awake at one point but all in all I was able to sleep. Bed was comfortable enough, though on the soft side...kind of pillow top-ish. I prefer a more firm bed but those who like soft ones, should like the beds. The room didn't have a microwave but did have a fridge. I definitely wished I had my Lysol spray that I usually carry to spray down hotel surfaces. Unfortunately this was a last minute booking due to exhaustion after a very frustrating day so I didn't have any of my hotel clean up items. I stopped by their restaurant (Blossom) but there really wasn't anything on the limited menu that I wanted to try. Having read some of the other reviews, I didn't want to pay $24 for a Poke bowl that sucked. Thankfully I had some chicken chow mein left over from lunch. Unfortunately since there are no microwaves in the rooms (or at least my 8th fl room), I had to go down to the lobby to use the apparently single microwave in the hotel. It's right there in the lobby. Why not at least have a microwave near the elevators on each floor? All in all, in a pinch and with another booking deal, I'd stay here again. Given a choice of another comparable hotel at the same price, I'd try the other hotel. It wasn't terrible, but when you expect more from a place the disappointment can be all you need to look elsewhere.

Nevertheless my questions were answered and I felt comfortable being able to ask them anything. I would also say that although you have to pay for simple items like toothbrush and tooth paste not to mention even shampoo, I'd say that since they are near a dollar tree and Walmart that you can easily avoid using the vending machine unless absolutely necessary. Overall I wish that there was less third party business transactions but for what it's worth, if you need somewhere to crash and are considering a long term stay at studio 6, this is the place to check out first so you can get a idea of how things will go or if you are like me and driving over 40 minutes for work with car trouble and staying there is cheaper than the alternative than this is a good pick too. I have to touch base on what someone else mentioned the floors they have here are a shining example of how floors should be in every motel, my hallway section didn't smell either but I can't say the same for the other side ha ha, in that regard it can be hit or miss. The shower was small so small that I bumped my head getting in one day but that shower is bigger and cleaner than certain places and the place wasn't crawling with bugs and even has a laundry room that you pay for, it has it's trade offs but out of all the motels I have been to thus far it is definitely a go to so far!
