My mother-in-law absolutely didn't expect it, and it made her feel really special. Patch greeted us warmly (I hope I got the name right!) and took great care of us throughout the evening, making sure we had everything we needed. He even personally acknowledged my mother-in-law's birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. She was so happily surprised! The Hugo Spritz cocktails were refreshing and delicious. I ordered the scallops both as an appetizer and as my main course, and I truly enjoyed them. The strawberry chocolate cake we shared was absolutely delicious -- it practically melted in my mouth! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a warm, cozy atmosphere. It feels upscale without being pretentious, which made it a great place for a special occasion. Our server was friendly and helpful, so we asked for recommendations and ended up ordering a variety of dishes to share. We started with the Sweet Corn Hummus, which came with their complimentary pita bread. The pita was phenomenal! It isn't your typical plain pita you find at most Mediterranean restaurants. It has a delicious seasoning that makes it incredibly flavorful, and paired perfectly with the sweet corn hummus. We also tried the Moroccan Onion Dip. It has a slightly sweet flavor with noticeable cardamom notes. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Next time, I'll probably order the popular spicy whipped feta instead. One of our favorite dishes of the night was the Hamachi & Charred Avocado. It was light, fresh, and packed with flavor. Every bite was delicious. We also shared the Brussels Sprouts & Honeycrisp Apple Salad. The dressing was fresh and flavorful, but I realized I'm just not a fan of raw Brussels sprouts. The texture was a little too tough for my liking. That's on me--I should have asked beforehand if they were served raw. I think I'd enjoy it much more if the sprouts were roasted, so I probably wouldn't order this one again. For our hot mezze, we chose the Sweet Potato Latkes. They were very tasty with great flavor, although they were just a little on the greasy side. For our entrées, we ordered the Faroe Islands Salmon and the Shawarma-Spiced Skirt Steak Frites. The salmon kebabs over rice were my favorite dish of the evening. They were perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and something I'd absolutely order again. The skirt steak had great flavor as well. Although we requested medium, it came out closer to medium-rare. Thankfully, I'd rather have it slightly under than overcooked. The only disappointment on the plate was the fries--they tasted dry, almost like they had been refried instead of served fresh. The highlight of the meal, however, was dessert. The Triple Chocolate Torte was absolutely incredible. It wasn't overly sweet, the chocolate mousse was smooth and creamy, and the cake itself was rich, velvety, and decadent without being heavy. It was the perfect ending to the meal. And as part of the birthday celebration they served us frozen yogurt with sumac strawberry sauce which was so delicious. Overall, we had a fantastic birthday dinner. While there were a couple of dishes I probably wouldn't order again, the excellent service, inviting atmosphere, and several standout dishes made for a memorable experience. Tucked away from the main street but packs a mean punch. It is street parking mostly, but there is also a parking lot not to far away that's paid parking. When you walk in it's a clean and modern decorated restaurant. It is bright and cozy all at the same time. We had the best service who was extra attentive esp since we had a little who was making a mess but she interacted with our little with a smile and offered extra things to make sure that all of us had everything we needed to enjoy our experience. The menu is broken down in to four sections and we were recommend 4-5 plates as they are share plates for 2 people. The plates came out in the order of the menu and as they were prepared. To start under the for the table we got the ricotta, honey and hazelnut plate and it came with their warm baked breads which were a ficoccia and a pita both were delicious. The presentation was also simple and stunning! They came by and offer us more bread even before we finished our first plate's worth which we were super grateful for. Under vegetable, we tried the peach salad and the broccoli. I didn't get to the broccoli because I was enjoying the peach salad far too much but my husband was raving about the char and flavors on broccoli. Now on to the peach salad, so simple, yet what a beautiful and refreshing plate! It wasn't too citrusy or cheesy, and the breadcrumbs on the peach slices were incredible! Under water and land, we tried the pappardelle bolognese, and the striploin. The pappardelle was delish, the pasta was cooked just right and there was just the right amount of bolognse that you could scoop and enjoy some with every bite without overpowering the freshness of the noodles. The striploin was the one dish that I was a bit disappointed and that doesn't mean it wasn't flavorful or delcious by any means. I think for a $95 plate, I was expecting some coheisiveness. We got two plates, one with the striploin itself with came with squad blossoms on top that were prepared 2 different ways, both were delciious. I was shocked they didn't ask us what temp we wanted our steak, some parts of it came out a bit too rare but at this point we were starting to get pretty full so we ate the parts that were just right, and took the rest home to cook up just a bit more so it worked out. Then the second part of the plate was the pommes dauphine, usually when I read this, I expect a piped potato of some kind and we did get that, in a more whimsicle way in the form that was a play on a funnel cake. Super creative, it had great texture but it was rather sweet. And a bit hard to eat. It didn't feel like it belonged with the steak and we felt it could've use a sauce or soemthing to tie the two together? Not sure what exactly it needed but it needed something to tie the plates together. Nonetheless, we had a great time, the food was delciious and with a rotating menu we are excited to come back and try out other dishes soon.
