Once in you see someone spinning alpaca wool into yarn. You talk to her and she explains the process and explains differences between alpaca and other wools. The whole thing is quite informative. Others explain that alpacas don't like being petted much, especially about the head. They are native mountain denizens, so keeping them cool during hot NJ summers is vital. 20 years is about their lifespan and they have usually just one offspring, occasionally twins, in an 11 month gestation period. Free snacks & apple cider & kids are allowed to climb on the tractors, plus there's a shop that sells yarn and other stuff women like. If you'd like to buy an alpaca, prices start at $500. The fee is $6 which is redeemable for a credit in their gifts shop. I found the tour to be very informative and questions were highly encouraged. From video footage of how they shear the alpaca to anecdotes, she seemed to be passionate about the animal. The only thing I would mention is that the interaction with the alpaca was very limited and we weren't welcome to touch them. Left me longing for a bit more. Will say that the gift shop is worth visiting. Would recommend to visit if you're in the area!

The first tour starts at 11am and are scheduled every hour on the hour. Jane was very informative and answered all of our questions. We were able to stand inside with the beautiful alpacas and take pictures. It is $6 per person for the tour but you can use that $6 afterwards towards an item from their store. The store has many items that are made from real alpaca fur such as head bands, socks, hats, etc. I highly recommend coming here and will be returning back with the rest of the family!

From start to finish it was such a fun adventure! You're able to grab a bucket and literally walk the endless rows of beautiful tulips and pick as many as you'd like to your hearts desire. I had no idea there were so many different types of tulips. My bf and I really enjoyed learning this and also learning how to properly "pick" a tulip in order to transport them home without there being any wilting or withering. The weather actually made the experience that much more memorable in my opinion and provided quite a beautiful back drop given the contrasting colors to the grey and white sky. There were a nice selection of food trucks there as well so we grabbed empanadas and lemonade before round two of picking flowers and admiring mother natures beauty. Once we got the tulips home we followed instructions on how to properly clip and keep them watered and within minutes the tulips began to blossom :) The two vases we filled brightened our space and made us begin to plan our next visit ... with a plan on how we'd be more strategic in picking groups of colors and different heights lol. They consistently have amazingly fresh produce and if you love corn, you can't beat it. Also for sale in the country store are plenty of other fresh fruits and veggies, sauces and dressings, dips, and lots of candy too! Apple picking time is also very popular! Their pricing is also very fair for what you're getting. It's always nice to support local farms. They had a tough year already with the devastating crop damage from the freeze this past April.

They had an indoor area of all the gardening/yard supplies you'd need: pots, planters, yard tools, hoses, decorations, and more. There was also a very relaxing display of different garden water fountains and garden figurines. I walked around the entire center trying to decide which plants I should get, and then a very kind man came to offer me an ice cold bottle of water saying it was so hot outside. Turns out that was Mario, the owner of this garden center! I asked him for some advice on finding some plants or flowers that could tolerate full day of sun, and not only did he tell me which ones would work, he even helped me run around the center to plan out which plants to put together in a pot. As a complete gardening newbie (who sadly has killed way too many house plants), I was so relieved that Mario was unfazed when I asked him for easy plants that wouldn't die under my complete lack of care. I'm so glad I happened upon this garden center and met such a nice owner. Once I get a better idea of other plants and flowers I want to fill my garden with, I'll definitely come back!

I was visiting my friend for a few days and scheduled this as one of our outings . We were very…read moreexcited because who doesn't like lavender and alpacas...We arrived and drove up and overshot the dirt road where there was a bunch of cars. We turned around and noticed a small building with a young man sitting outside. We drove down the dirt road past a very small patch of lavender. ( maybe 40 or so plants) hardly a field! We parked next to all the cars and thought this was going to be good because there was quite a few cars. We quickly figured out that it was a private event . No signs ... nothing from stopping us from entering the private party. We walked over to the patch of lavender and decided to walk over to the farm store. The stand consisted of lavender plants selling for $ 30 for maybe a five gallon container .. inside there was soap and sachets which really had no scent what so ever. We walked out and asked the young man that was sitting outside if in fact it was a private party and he confirmed yes it was and that they weren't allowed to put up signs. ??? That Made no sense.. but what ever. He then said he was on the phone with his parents asking then what to do about us! Huh? We asked if we can go see the alpaca.. only one was by the fence . He said okay ... but they normally get $10!!! We declined and left . $10 to pet alpaca and look at a patch of lavender!!!! What a joke . The drive down the short dirt road would have been longer. Seriously a Waste of time if you think it's a place to spend some time. Do a google image and take a look for yourself... I wish we did.

This is an active village in a vast area of cranberry bogs and blueberry fields. I attended the 34th annual blueberry Festival on a lovely day in June. Parking for $10 was a bit tedious because it was located on a landing strip about a mile from the site. Shuttle buses somewhat alleviated the issue. The festival is like any fair I have attended, nothing special under the sun with various vendors and support groups in tents. There was also an entertainment. For $5 you could also be transported to the blueberry fields and pick as many as you can in a half hour. There also was a pie-eating contest which was quite amusing. Various groups displayed their " antique agricultural" wares which I found very interesting. The General Store is in the center of the village.
