Great spot for sandwiches. Their house made bread is fantastic. We came back the very next day for breakfast but it was a miss. The egg bowl left a lot to be desired. Not much flavor. The porchetta and eggs dish was also a miss. They threw some spices on top and it was overly salty--almost inedible. Surprised that the platter didn't come with home fries or some sort of potatoes. I'd come back only for their lunch sandwiches. We also got their chocolate bread to go which was fantastic. I was on the hunt for a cafe in the area where I could get a coffee & a lunch but also take my laptop out and get some work done and found it here! The space is wonderfully spacious so getting a table shouldn't be too much trouble and someone came over right away to seat us and take our orders and even brought the wifi password over. I started with an oat milk latte and then took a look at their massive menu on the hunt for a wrap. I ended up getting the Bahama Beach: grilled chicken, mozz, lettuce, artichoke, avocado and mayo and it was pretty great. I might ask for less mayo next time because the avocado made it creamy enough and it was a little too saucy as is, but it still was a perfect lunch. Definitely recommend for anything like sandwiches, bakery treats, coffees, they even have a full vegan section on their website. They are a new cafe but a welcomed addition to Red Bank! read more

Service was good, I do wish each pastry was labeled and priced so I didn't have to ask so many questions to the cashier. lol I had a decaf iced latte 6.50 with oat milk, it was delicious and creamy. A donut with Bavarian cream, delicious fresh and so soft!! The rainbow cookie was good, but the chocolate on it was pretty thick. Review based on take out... Stopped here randomly on the way home from the beach to pick up a little fresh bread. Wound up buying two rolls and a rainbow cookie. The breads are very fairly priced. The rolls are quite large. On the way home I could smell the rolls. What a great start. It reminded me of the smell fresh bread we would eat at my great aunts in the Portuguese mountains. Tried it for breakfast the next morning and even as "day old" bread it was so delicious with such a great chew to it. Didn't need to be toasted. Was excellent. The rainbow cookie was also a delight. Soft and fresh with sweet and tart raspberry jam. Loved it. I will definitely stop here again one day when I'm down in that area! read more

I learned about this cafe when I was working in NY, so I was very excited when this Red Bank location opened. Great coffee options, delicious bakery selections, and the food is very good. For me, their sandwiches are phenomenal and the bread....its all about the bread! So many sandwich options! Italian tuna, Italian subs, turkey, salami, roast beef , ect, whatever you like they have! We decided to go there because they have a vegan menu. The decor is nice with wood trimmed seats and red leather booths. The bathroom is clean. I love their vegan menu but I often forget to check about gluten free options as well. They don't have many gluten free options. I made the best of it and got a huge salad. I pretty much made up a salad with arugula and some tomatoes. The dressing they used was excellent. It was a lemon dressing. I also got the salt/pepper fries and those were very tasty and didn't taste like regular fries you would get in a fast food place. My friend got the smoothie and he loved it. I was excited to try Filoncino after all the hype. We decided to stop by for dessert and coffee. The decor is modern with a little bit of modern art deco. Our server was gracious. I decided on a chocolate dessert. It was ok but didn't have a " I will be back for this" factor. A cross between a brownie and molten lava cake. My husband's cannoli was good. My coffee was warm and could have been hotter. This may be a pet peeve but not an unreasonable expectation. My wife picked up two salads, which we opened immediately at home. The sliced avocados were completely brown, which totally turned me off from the start. I would have preferred that they left them off altogether. I tossed mine in the trash. Maybe it's just me, but at the high prices they charge, I expected much better. I really wanted to love this. The ambiance is terrific, I received good service, and I'm so glad we have another option for good food on the west side of Red Bank, where I live. I am only commenting on the sweet foods because that's all I tried so far during my sweet tooth visit last night. The hot food going by looked great and I plan to try some. Although all the baked goods looked great too, but they weren't. The pumpkin pie was very good. I would get it again. The cream cheese stuffed tuiles were way too sickeningly sweet. Waking up to their croissants was a huge disappointment. They were the absolute worst I have ever had in my life. They're some monstrous mixture of a salty Italian roll with butter layers made overly enormous. They probably make a great savory sandwich, but they are simply not croissants. If I can make a recommendation, it is to pare down the overwhelming menu to only what you do really well. Don't try to do everything...like croissants. read more

Very nice place. Went there today 2 other tables dining and waitress payed more attention to bussing empty tables than serving. I ordered coffee and the French toast with berries. ( I was surprised to see disclaimer on menu of 10 to 15 minute wait time for this item)French toast was dry and dense and lacked flavor. I asked for more coffee and was surprised when bill arrived that they do not offer refills. $7.00 for 2 cups of coffee??? I politely asked the waitress to check if this was correct which she did and said there are no refills. There are plenty of places in Red Bank and nearby that are far better. Nice decor, ambiance. The issue was that the server had zero knowledge of the menu. We asked her why the iced beverages cost more than the hot beverages, and she replied that they are "harder to make". The server did not know what a latte was, nor did she know what non-fat milk was. 10 minutes after ordering our food, we were told that the items we ordered were not available. We decided to finish our coffee and not order any other food items. The saving grace was that the manager came to our table and apologized for the kinks. We will definitely give them another try, and hope that their staff is more aware of the menu and selections that they offer. read more

We stumbled upon Filoncino and on our 1st visit only purchased coffee, which was very good. We were impressed with the decor and the menu was extensive offering lots of salads, sandwiches, pizza, wraps etc. , so we thought this would be a great place to return to for breakfast or lunch. Our attempt to return was a "Fail", because this establishment is CLOSED on Sunday ! It's my fault I didn't check their hours of operation, but thought it odd for a coffee shop to be closed on a Sunday. Fast forward to our next visit for lunch, we ordered a Lemon Chicken Arugula Salad, Chicken Parm, Grilled Eggplant w/ Arugula, Pesto & Blasamic, and Turkey Bacon w/ Swiss on Brick Oven Bread. Honestly, we were VERY disappointed. The Lemon Chic Arugula salad had what appeared to be one very small chopped up chicken breast. For $22, I would expect this to be a pretty big salad, but it was mainly "salad", with a little chicken. To make matter worse, it was tasteless. The sandwiches were hearty, but the chicken parm was overloaded with sauce, a real mess, as well as the Grilled eggplant which was doused in Balsamic vinegar. We also bought a seeded twist bread which was excellent. Unfortunately the only positive is the atmosphere, the fact the service is good and good bread. Additionally, the desserts seem to fall short in comparison to the S.I. Royal Crown Bakery. Overall, my opinion is Filoncino is OK at best. We may return to for Coffee and Bread, but that's about it. read more
