Having been a Hilton rewards member for many years, our stay at the Doubletree Hilton by SeaTac…read moreairport was the worst hotel room we have stayed in. It is a well worn room that desperately needs a refresh. Popcorn ceilings and the corners of the room are crumbling. We asked for a better room and was told we needed to pay an $30. We were unwilling to pay more for a room we were staying in for one night. Hilton corporation I hope you are listening. I too wished I had read the reviews on this hotel. Due diligence should have happened on my part, but this was our first really bad experience with a Hilton hotel.

Marked down to 4 because ai do t think you should have to pay extra ($20/night) to park at a hotel you are already paying to stay at. Just my opinion. Room-5- Would be a 6 if I gave a 6. I can't say enough about this room (rooms). It was a two room suite with a separate bedroom and living room. The living room had a comfortable sofa and table, a round dinner table and bar, and a great, large, functional desk. Having a separate workspace made life easier and I didn't need to shut my laptop and/or remote screen due to light. Mattress/pillows-5-Maybe the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, not sure what made it that way but it was. Elevator speed/availability-4-Elevators were pretty quick, lost a point because one of the three elevators was down the entire time I was there. It's a big hotel and two elevators can slow down guest. Gym/pool-5-Again I would give the gym a 6 if I gave 6's. A great selection of dumbbells, cardio equipment, kettlebells and a smith rack with a straight bar and handles. (It would be nice to have more handles for the smith machine but that's not a deal breaker) Restaurant-3- I ordered from the bar not the restaurant so I can only speak to the bar. I am not a fan of being asked to tip before I receive my food but most places seem to be heading this way. My food order was messed up pretty badly and I was in a hurry so I was stuck with it. The person behind the bar didn't write down my order so I'm sure that's why it was messed up, the other person behind the bar that I paid was a little rude. Needless to say I won't eat at the bar for the remainder or in the future. Staff-5-Even with the bar staff the admissions folks at the front desk and other employees (maintenance and at the in-house Starbucks) were fantastic and very helpful. Price-5-Seemed appropriate and fair. Overall-5-My new favorite Hilton, I will definitely stay here again and I recommend you check it out if you are in/around Seattle. Shout out- Renee at the front desk was fantastic. Bonus- There is an Outback in the front parking lot, and a giant mall (Southcenter Westfield Mall) right across the street with tons of food options and a theatre).

My room was clean and comfortable. There was some visible wear in places, particularly around the shower tile, but nothing that affected the stay. The in-room safe had no power, so I reported that. I also appreciated receiving daily housekeeping service, especially since some hotels now skip days unless you specifically request it. On my first day, someone from the hotel emailed to make sure everything was going well. I replied with a few suggestions, including the issue with the safe. I don't know whether every guest receives that outreach, but it was a thoughtful touch. The one real miss was room service. Ordering was handled through a QR code, but I received an error when I tried to submit my order. Rather than keep troubleshooting it, I used DoorDash instead. Would I stay here again? Yes. The room was clean, the staff treated me well, and the hotel worked nicely for a business trip in Seattle.

There was a lot of vehicle noise throughout the day, including in the middle of the night that would wake me up. Additionally, the website and booking says that coffee and tea are available in the lobby, but this was nowhere to be found. On to the positives, the reception staff were incredible, especially Ray. He told us how to get the Seattle City Pass which was an incredible deal, as well as let us know about the Sea-Tac spot saver at the airport. The hotel offers complimentary tickets to the Great Wheel. The hotel is on quite the incline, which gave us a workout since we mainly walked around the city!

You still have to go to the front desk to register and to inform them of any vehicle details within 24 hours of checking in. Their front desk is open 9-5 so you can still get into your room outside of those hours before you register. Got a queen bed suite that came with a kitchen that included a full-sized fridge, dishwasher and microwave along with dishes for 4. TV with limited cable and a desk. Sofa is in the same room as the bed. Several cabinets/drawers in the wall where the iron/ironing board are kept. Lighting was odd, with different switches for different lights at the entrance and by the TV across the room. Bathroom was small with a tub I had to step up into and low water spray in the shower. The all-in-one washer/dryer didn't work. Washed 1 pair of pants and then the machine showed an error message stating there wasn't any water. Tried again two more times to wash these pants and it finally washed them all the way through the 2nd time, but it wouldn't dry them. When I spoke with the front desk, they told me water is needed to dry them and I could go to a different part of the hotel. Said no thanks because I was on my way out the door at the end of the trip. Free parking and free wifi. No restaurant or food/drink onsite. Parking garage has covered area. The pictures online obscured this fact somewhat, but I could have been a bit more diligent in my research, too. Regardless, my wife and I enjoyed our experience here, and absolutely would stay again. We checked in late; past operating hours, in fact, but thankfully a (very friendly and welcoming) night attendant is always onsite (call the number posted online, or on the door to reach them), who got us situated in a handful of minutes. Our room was about what you'd expect from a motel: barebones, but clean, with a comfy bed, serviceable furniture, and all the (very) basic amenities. Great centralized location (both in Oak Harbor, and Whidbey Island in general) means that every point of interest is just a short drive away. Pre-packaged continental breakfast is served from 7am-10am in the quaint little dining area in the office building. Check-out at 11. Beds are clean and comfy. I learned retroactively that there are rooms with fireplaces, Jacuzzis, and apparently some small private cabins on the back of the lot, so if and when we ever return to Oak Harbor, we'll probably end up booking one of those, instead. Temper your expectations, and the Auld Holland Inn will meet all your travel lodging needs. If you, or your travel companions, are the types of people that spend more time in the hotel than your destination, and absolutely have to be pampered and pandered to for all their basic needs, try Captain Whidbey down the road. For the rest of us, looking for an inexpensive, convenient, off-beat, and memorable place to rest your head without breaking the bank, the Auld Holland Inn will satisfy your somniferous specifications better than a pair of wooden clogs...and more comfortably, too!

The Bad: On the first night of your 3-night stay, we reported that the bathroom floor was sticky and requested that it be mopped. We were told that it would be done the next day since housekeeping had gone for the day. The next day when we returned to the hotel, the floor was still sticky. We reported it again and were told that it would be reported to the manager and they would get back to us. The Ugly: We never heard back from management. We put our service request tag out and not only did the bathroom not get mopped again, but we also did not receive any clean towels or other cleanup. So, we arrived to a sticky bathroom floor and left with the same sticky bathroom floor. We will not be staying at Auld Holland on our next trip to Whidbey Island and we will not be recommending it to others.

You're presented with a "ticket" to use for breakfast and evening drinks. (To prove you're a registered guest and to track your two drink limit. Make sure to keep it with you!). Fresh made-to-order omelets for breakfast. Omelets were delicious and I'm not an egg fan typically. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage available too. Cold cereal, bananas, apples and Greek yogurt also available. Free coffee and tea were located in the far far corner. You walk past the in-house Starbucks to reach the free beverages. If you didn't look, you would assume Starbucks was free and included in breakfast. The bad-"complimentary" evening reception. Food choices were chips with two types of salsa, ranch dip, sweet and salty snack mix, veggies and a "Cajun" snack mix. Complimentary drinks feature off off off brand liquor, couple of beer choices on tap and decent wine (Cab or Chardonnay). Can upgrade your drink for $6 to brand name liquor. There are hot food offerings ranging in price from $15-$40. Also, we're Hilton Honors members. Members with higher status were gifted treat/goody bags that are displayed behind the front desk. I asked at check-in. Don't know if that was a perk or a ploy. Why not have those waiting in-room for higher status members? The ugly - $25 per night parking. A fellow Yelper from 9 months prior to this review indicated $22 a night ? No hot water in the bathroom. The first day, and last day, I heated water in the microwave and cleaned myself in the sink. The room was noisy being close to the airport and the open elevators facing the atrium. So there you have it. My take on Embassy Suites. My hubby would have given the stay four stars. The parking spots are kind of tight and they have one end of the parking lot blocked off (since a lot of the public just casually pass through there). Parking is pricey at $22 for overnight. At the evening reception, the snacks could've been a little more substantial compared to other Embassy Suites (crackers, options of sweet or savory trail mix, cheese, chips), but it did come with 2 complimentary alcoholic drinks. Breakfast had a good variety, but I was a little disappointed to see that their mini muffins and scones came out of plastic packages from a grocery store, rather than being homemade or from an actual bakery. 2025 #8

Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed, hotel staff entered my room without my consent, later explaining that it was a "wellness check" required when a room has not received housekeeping service for three consecutive days. However, no attempt was made to call my phone, leave a voicemail, or contact me in any way before entering. In an era where every guest provides a phone number at check-in, this should have been the first and most basic step. Entering a guest's room while Do Not Disturb is displayed is a serious violation of privacy. Additionally, I had requested and received towels directly the day before, and I had declined housekeeping at check-in, which contradicts the claim that my room had not been serviced for three days. To make matters more confusing, management later focused their response on the presence of my service dog, asking me to confirm if I was traveling with a dog. However, my dog was present with me at check-in, so it is unclear why this suddenly became a concern or why it was brought up after the unauthorized entry. What was most disappointing was the response from Danielle Powell, Director of Operations, who repeatedly justified the situation rather than offering a sincere apology for the intrusion. The tone of the communication felt confrontational rather than customer-focused. Overall, this hotel is a very poor representation of the Marriott brand. Privacy and respect are fundamental expectations when staying at a hotel -- especially when a Do Not Disturb sign is clearly displayed. Unfortunately, that basic expectation was not respected here.
