My cousin recommended this spot and I absolutely loved it. There's is plenty of street parking. It's an open park that has a brick building on the side. There's a lot of open space at the park. There was tables and chairs outside to have your coffee inside. You order inside . The menu is regular but the guy running us up was really helpful. I like my coffee sweet so i asked for a recommendation and I'm glad I went with it. Prices are pretty regular like any other coffee shop. There was a big community table and chairs where you can work at. There was also seating on the side by a window. You pick up your coffee outside. My coffee was absolutely amazing! There are a lot of dogs there that were very happy so that's always a great sign. The energy there is amazing and welcoming. Hard to explain but everyone was happy here and friendly. On top of that my coffee was amazing I got what it was called. My husband loved his vanilla latte. We got a pick of blanket had our coffee inside a nice open space. Beautiful cafe next to a park perfect for family, students, or folks working. Free wifi, delicious selection of tea and coffee, and pastries offered too! Seats inside are tight, but you are more than welcome to grab a table and move it anywhere around the park. Really lovely spot that is a hidden gem. How I rate my stars: 1 - Yikes. The Hidden Café is a lovely spot tucked beside Strawberry Creek Park. It is housed in a historic brick building. The indoor space is limited and mostly populated by people working or reading at the long table across from the cafe area. Most groups take the opportunity to hang at the bistro tables directly outside or lounge on the grass on a sunny day. We absolutely adore the hidden café, any sunny weekend day, the entire park and Café is buzzing with families and humans out for their morning coffee or pop-up breakfast food (we love the "mich-muffin" egg sandwich. There is a café in the middle of strawberry Creek park in Berkeley called "the hidden Café" and it basically has no parking. On midday Saturday basically there's about 100 young families and Gen Z's. The Gen Z's do not make eye contact with each other. The young families all seem to know each other. There is one long table inside with people on laptops taking all the seats, so essentially everyone takes their food outside. There are some portable tables and of course the entire park to eat on grass. I had one of their specialty "kokuto" iced lattes Okinawan style (with unrefined sugar), which was excellent. The cafe has a couple of very delicious breakfast sandwiches. Unfortunately, the one I ordered is pretty much impossible to eat as an actual sandwich, because it's so greasy, and it is not wrapped up in paper, so by the time you've taken three bites of it it has fallen completely apart. It is made of English muffins, Peruvian chicken chorizo, which, by the way, I don't think is even a real thing, a deep-fried potato round that is sort of like a McDonald's hash brown, and a mustardy curry flavored sauce, which I think is genuinely South American in origin. It's very delicious, but by the time I finished it, the sauce was all over my face and my hands, and I had to pick up all the pieces out of the box. Bring wet wipes! read more

The outdoor seating is really cute too and would have sat there if it was warm enough! The cafe backs up to Strawberry Creek Park which makes it an ideal spot! They also have free wifi so it's a great place to do some work! One downside is parking can be tough because there's not a lot of spots and finding street parking took us a while. read more

I love that they have sweet treat options for vegans and those who are gluten free. My personal favorite is the magic purple square! My go to drink is the kokuto latte with oat milk. I don't know anywhere else that has that flavor! The cafe also overlooks a big grassy park so it's the perfect spot for nice sunny weather. The inside can be tricky for seating but the times I have been lucky enough to get a seat have been great! Working inside at the shared table makes me feel like I'm working with friends in someone's living room. Sitting inside (mostly taken by people working), some tables outside, but they also have wooden foldable tables/benches that you can set up yourself outside as well. Tons of people and dogs on a weekend morning, but they move fairly quickly so don't expect too long for your drink. Great atmosphere. I got a cortado, and it was quite good. My good friend told me about The Hidden Cafe which sits near Strawberry Creek Park. I never knew. It is very beautiful and scenic. The cafe is lovely with some seating inside which quickly fills up because it popular. I stood in line and ordered an iced americano, veggie quiche, and a piece of chocolate cake. Everything proceeded smoothly with civilized customer service from the male cashier. I was told to stand outside by waiting window to pick up my order. My iced americano came out quickly (two minutes max) with the receipt attached. He had forgotten to charge me for the chocolate cake and I was wondering why I hadn't gotten it. No worries, I was excited for quiche! 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes. Meanwhile every other customer comes up orders and they get everything in their respective orders. Strange, maybe just an oversight. I finally walk up and ask a question because the whole time I was standing outside the window he never once asked me if I needed help. While I am standing there, a young woman comes up and she is asked if she needs help before me. At this point I am thinking something isn't right. Then, I look at him directly and I said "my quiche?" To which he pauses and then says "oh." He forgot about my order. I was standing there for 20 minutes and if I didn't come up to ask I would've continued to stand there. He brings it over and says he is sorry he forgot. I told him he had forgotten to take my chocolate cake order and he lifted the computer to bring over to window. At this point, there was no sincerity in what he had said and clearly I was an inconvenience to him. I turned around and walked away. I don't know this person and I don't understand why I was treated so rudely by him. The iced Americano was smooth and tasty and the quiche was delicious! For that I give two stars. I would have never found this place if not for Yelp. Hidden Cafe always popped up on my search list, but this neighborhood is nowhere near my typical Berkeley stomping grounds. This is nestled comfortably in suburbia. For those in the same boat as I was-- DO go out of your way to find it. If their delicious coffee offerings aren't enough to draw you in, their constant rotation of eateries/chefs should draw your appetite. Parking is challenging-- only a few spots in the Strawberry Creek Park lot, otherwise you're left to any openings along residential streets. Outside, there are a few patio chairs, picnic benches, and lots of dogs. Inside, there's communal seating among humble furnishings, usually full of students or remote workers tapping away. We usually grab a coffee, sometimes a bite if the current residency catches our eye. Highly recommend their Hojicha and Kokuto lattes (hot), they're delightfully roasted, with nutty, smoky, Asian-sweet flavors. Especially with the bubbles blowing along in the wind, and the locals chattering away, the atmosphere has a whimsical, lighthearted air to it. Came here for brunch on a Saturday and it was busy, but we were able to find some space at a table. Dogs and babies allowed, but I didn't see any high chairs. The ambiance is cool though it does get a little loud and packed. Food was all very tasty, though their menu changes. I enjoyed rice and a sandwich. Their coffee is fine, nothing to write home about. I wish they would be consistent about posting their menu online so you knew what they were offering before you got there, but alas, good luck researching stuff on yelp, google, and insta! read more

There's a tiny trail with a creek flowing under it that you can walk by as well as you sip your coffee. The cafe gives you the option to have your coffee there (if you can find a seat great! It's a pretty small spot though) or to take it to go. They do also have a few pastry options as well. The kokuto Latte was something I'd never seen before, but the worker said it was good so I decided to try it and I'm glad I did. I got the House Chai and I love it's subtle sweetness but strong robust spice to it. They also have a scallion and cheddar scone which is a must try savory item!! The inside is pretty small and too packed to study at one large long table and a couple window seats via bar stools. My friend and I happened to come early enough to grab a small table and 2 chairs to work off of--no outlets outside. Cute place to come and hangout or read a book. With the grassy park right next to cafe, it's really the perfect spot to bring your pets. On a sunny day, this is a great cafe to relax at. We got a mushroom squash pastry from the pastry case and it was delicious, as was the hojicha latte with soy milk. The staff heated up our pastry and it tasted like an elevated, savory pop-tart. Definitely would get it again. Parking in the neighborhood is not the most difficult to find but you may have to circle a little to find a free spot that doesn't require payment. I love everything about this spot except for the coffee :( the park is beautiful, the inside has such a comforting vibe if you can manage to snag a seat, and I honestly love that there are always people here, even if it means that there can be a bit of a line on weekends. Of all the pastries, I think the cheddar scallion scone is definitely the best. I've had matcha and coffee here, and both were watered down and acidic. But I would come back just for the scone and vibes!! I found out about this place from 510 families and as a new mom, I'm always trying to find kid friendly and adult friendly spaces. This met the criteria. My husband ordered the lemonade and I got the Paloma spritz. Both were delicious! I will have to go back and get coffee but we went in the afternoon. For pastries, I got the cheddar scallion scone and my husband got the sweet potato brownie. Scone was delicious but the brownie was not our favorite. Maybe just not into vegan treats? New favorite cafe alert! I only got a chai latte, which was really good, but I stayed for the ambiance. This shop is right in front of Strawberry Creek Park, and the vibes are soo good, especially on a warm sunny day. I sat at the open windows looking out, next to a few people working on their laptops, and you can watch the dogs playing in the park and people doing yoga. There are many tables outside, and one long table inside that people were sharing.
