This place was outstanding! The owner herself served us and she was so friendly and personable. The wine selection is incredible and the light bites and charcuterie were so delicious and fresh. I can't wait to come back again on a night there is live music!

The Hidden Cellar When pulling up... it doesn't look like much... a small strip center in the heart of Cypress off Fry Rd... the website said live music and it had non bar like food... It was softly lit, accenting off the wood floors and rock arches ... I walked through to the small bar in the rear, finding the only empty seat. The patrons were having lively conversations, the music of Mike Carey was in full gear, the atmosphere was a throwback to when I was a kid, watching my Dad jam out... I decided on a glass of Seven Daughters Moscato, as my first two choices were discontinued. (Temptress Milk Stout and 7 Spanish Angels coffee ale). The specials of the night were a mini charcuterie board, with choice of two cheeses and house made tacos. I love smoked Gouda and couldn't resist the Hatch Chili Cheddar. It came with crispy unleavened crackers and a mix of unsalted nuts, dried cranberries with mini dark chocolate squares, great starter. The full size tacos came out fresh made. Flavorful, not too spicy, although they offer jalapeños and Cholula if you'd like. All I needed was a little salt. Both the bartender (sorry, forgot his name) and the manager came over to check on me. Very nice, hometown feel. The music was indeed classic 60's, 70's and 80's, even on the patio area outside. This is a great date night or small gathering spot for those that love live music and warm vibes.

An amazing wine selection, and the service, is amazing.

I love this place . They are 21*, which is clearly stated on their door. They have live music Thursday through Saturday. It may be quiet when you first come in, but wait a bit and usually a lively crowd will drift in.

I tried making reservations online all week but couldn't find an option. I even called the day of and no one picked up, so I was a little nervous walking in without a reservation. Thankfully, they were able to seat us right away--apparently a lot of reservations had canceled or no-showed. The place itself is super cute. Not too busy when we first arrived, but it definitely picked up at one point. Everyone was friendly when we walked in, and the wine specials were amazing. I ordered the Pinot Noir flight, and for the price, it just made sense--totally worth it. Now the food... SO good. Everything was reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. We tried the empanadas, the ceviche, the mussels, and I got the steak with shrimp (not sure the exact name). It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and honestly it was phenomenal. I'd come back just for that dish alone. I definitely want to return for happy hour and maybe another girls' night. The only downside: our first server. I'm not sure if he was flustered, annoyed, or just having a day, but his energy toward our table was not it. We came out to relax and get away from attitudes at home, not to deal with more. He seemed impatient and uninterested, didn't offer recommendations, took our order and rushed off, and overall treated us very differently from the table next to us--who he was super sweet to, even giving them a hug at one point. I was the first one there and he was nice initially, but once the rest of my friends arrived, his whole demeanor changed. We asked for a different server, and that made ALL the difference. The second server--the gentleman with the bald head and beard--was phenomenal. Patient, helpful, friendly, and made us feel welcome. 100% recommend sitting in his section! Overall, the prices were reasonable, the drinks and food were delicious, and the vibe was great. I'll definitely be back--just hopefully with a smoother reservation process and NOT with that first server. Happy hour and steak night, here I come!

Given that statement, Passerella does a good job of serving a good number of dishes that effort to be authentic, which is a lot more than other joints do. There's obviously going to be a Chicken Parmesan Alfredo but also there's plenty of seafood and I ordered the piccata. The portions are generous and the presentation is nice. When we ordered our tiramisu it was assembled in front of us by our server and it was a really unique display. The restaurant has a great spot right on town lake and they have a clean interior that's classy but not so fancy that you would feel out of place as a walk in. Their commitment to quality service was what really impressed me. From the moment we got in with our little one we were warmly greeted and had polite conversation with the hostess and the manager as they got our table together. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and eager to help when we had a question. The people here clearly like coming to work and it translates to the dining experience.

My usual order from the menu when we dine in is the Pappardelle alla Bolognese, my comfort dish and the one authentic recipe I'm proudest of making at home. I'm Italian, raised in a working class, Italian immigrant community very far from Texas. There aren't many options for Italian food in Houston (pretty sure I've tried them all) and this is the only Italian restaurant that truly tastes like the flavors I grew up with. Like my Nonna used to make. Even though the owners aren't Italian, Peruvian I believe, they honor the flavors and traditions better than most places that claim to be. They care enough to get the flavors right and pay real homage to my culture. That means something. It tastes like my Nonna's cooking -- and that's the highest compliment I can give. A tavola non s'invecchia.

This is a nicely decorated bar with a decent wine menu, unique crafted cocktails, and well-displayed appetizers/boards. Great for a date night or individual hanging out at the bar. I run a local social club and we have a WhatsApp group where I shared Cork It and we decided to meetup here on a Tuesday evening. When I arrived at 6pm, there were only 4 people at the bar. We slowly had people from our group trickle in and I would say by 7-8pm, there were about 12 of us in total. We took up 4 of the tables, however there was still plenty of bar/lounge seating as well as a large table in the corner for other patrons. The service was incredibly slow. Took about 10 mins per person to place and receive a drink order, food took a significantly long time. From 6-8pm, I only had the chance to order one drink. Mind you, there were never more than 15-20 patrons at one time (including our group). None of us complained or were upset about the service/wait time. When I went to close out, the bartender complained to me about bringing in so many people and said I should have booked an event/party with them so they "could have been prepared." This wasn't a party or event I was hosting. This was quite literally 12 people who arrived at different times, sitting at open tables or the bar to socialize and order a drink/menu item. In this economy and with how much local places are struggling, I cannot imagine telling a customer they "brought in too much business." I was told Tuesdays are usually "dead." It seemed like she just didn't want to have to actually be busy for 2 hours. As a local community organizer/supporter, I cannot continue to support any place that complains about new customers. If they do not want groups, that's something that could have been shared as we started filling up their tables. Any bar that can't comfortably handle 15 patrons at a time is clearly inexperienced and not expecting to grow. To act like we overwhelmed them is wild. I would think the goal for any bar would be to have their tables taken up at prime dinner time.

It's been quite a long time since I was here and as I was in the neighborhood I decided to stop by again today. Remembering how good they were last time, I ordered the Oma's Frikadellen (grandma's recipe for all-beef meatballs). I like a good German meatball and these were tender and juicy. There was a choice of red cabbage or sauerkraut as a side; having confirmed they made the sauerkraut in-house themselves, had to order that because I know it's super healthy to eat. Better yet, that sauerkraut was almost perfect with a great flavor, but not too tart and just really a delicious version. Honestly I could've eaten a huge bucket load of that sauerkraut and I may buy some to go someday just to have it on hand in my refrigerator; a slight warm and it would be a wonderful side to serve guests. Dessert was a wow! I wanted to try a dessert that they made themselves and so I couldn't help but go with one of the dessert specials of the day. There were several options available not on the menu and although it was tempting to try the tiramisu or one of the three versions of crème brûlée they make, I decided to go with their homemade limoncello cake which turned out to be a delicious choice that I'm very happy about. Waiter Ty said it was one of his favorite desserts here and I could taste why -- moist cake, flavor-filled filling, whipped cream and with blueberries to decorate the plate. In fact it was so yummy that I decided that so someday soon I would order one with a couple days notice and then take it to my family's place next time I go over for dinner - what I don't know is whether I'll tell them the truth or try and pretend that I made it myself LOL :-) Update: the next day I did call to order an entire cake and it didn't last very long once the family dug in, got gobbled up because it had an intense great lemon flavor, wonderful.
