We tried having our retired threesome lunch gathering here about 18 months ago but were unable to find parking spaces as a golf tournament was in full swing. No problem parking on this visit in January. The dining and bar area had maybe four other parties when we arrived at 1 p.m. We probably didn't need to have made a reservation, but it was better to have been safe than disappointed. The bartender was assigned to serve our table and informed us of three delicious sounding soups that were available - Italian Wedding, French Onion, and the third that none of us tried. Instead, water, Cola ($3), and a winter warming Chatham - Oh Snaps! ($8) were our appetizers. The Oh Snaps brown ale was smooth and flavorful with its addition of cinnamon and ginger. My Smash Burger ($16.99) was served on a fresh bun with two patties, American cheese, sauteed onions, lettuce, tomato, and their house "birdie sauce." I opted to upgrade my side to onion rings for $3. I was not asked how I wanted my burgers cooked and they came out medium by my judgement. Overall, the combination of all the flavors was good. The onion rings appeared to be made inhouse and were tasty. My fellow diners were very pleased with their Club sandwich ($16.99) and Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16.99). Portions were large enough that each of my friends brought half of their lunch home. There is a nice view through the glass doors leading to the raised deck overlooking the golf course. I'm reviewing the banquet room and not the restaurant. I was at the Hideaway on a Tuesday for a senior lunch meeting. The space was newish and relatively large. I think there were sixty of us and there was room for another table or two. I don't know their official capacity but we were comfortable. There were windows looking out on the golf course and there were nice exposed timbers at the ceiling. We didn't need it but there seemed to be adequate heating/cooling equipment. There is a small bar which was fine for this group of restrained drinkers. LOL I was pleased that they carry Heineken 0.0 non-alcoholic beer which is one of my favorites. The food was a typical meeting buffet with salad, potato salad, multiple kinds of sandwiches, pasta, and chicken Marsala. A couple of mains were gluten free. Dessert included cookies and delicious brownies. This was good food and not gourmet food so no 5 stars. However, I don't want to discourage anyone. It was perfect for our meeting. Surely the buffet selections vary for each group. I thought we got a good deal for the amount of food, the space, and the service. On the way out I peered into the restaurant which had a great operating fireplace and a high ceiling with post and beam style rafters. It looked really nice. They also have a decent blue cheese. lastly, we shared the hideaway chicken sandwich. This was very fresh, a giant juicy, housemate breaded chicken breast. For $1 we upgraded to onion rings. Tried The Hideaway for the first time. The building is beautiful, spacious, and has great potential as a Saratoga mainstay. The live music was an awesome addition. Service was great- waiter was attentive, friendly, and fast. The bathroom was trashed and the floors were pretty messy. Water was leaking from the ceiling onto us the entire time we were there. Drinks were great, appetizers were ok. Shrimp cocktail was shrimp cocktail- was hoping the Bloody Mary cocktail sauce was going to be innovative but it was like marinara sauce with horseradish. Dinner was actually kinda awful. Instant mashed potatoes at this price point is atrocious. Nearly raw brussel sprouts, overcooked chicken parm, nearly burnt burgers, under seasoned steak. Just not the quality of food to match the location, price point, or vibe. I wouldn't say we'd write this place off, but I can't say I'd recommend it after this visit either solely based on food quality. read more

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a Coursed Paired Beer Dinner with Founders Brewing Co at The Hideaway. Let me start by saying, next time they host one of these, get your tickets! One of the owners Chad was so welcoming and friendly, I would never hesitate to return. This is an awesome place. It was an absolutely fantastic night filled with deliciously crafted plates, that were perfectly paired with the accompanying beers from Founders Brewing Co. The portions were also great and much more than I expected! This was a six course meal, paired with 8oz pours of the accompanying beers. I added the menus to the photos in case you need more details! The meal was started with an individually skewered play on charcuterie and it was paired with a dark ale. I really enjoyed all the elements on the plate, and the surprise was the raspberry compote and reduction on the plate. It gave a sweet and bitter balance to the salty meats and cheese. It was beautiful to enjoy all those flavors together. The following plate was a gazpacho served with a cheese crisp. The crisp added great saltiness to the soup. The soup itself was very similar to a salsa, however *disclaimer* I have never had gazpacho so I can not compare it to anything else. This was paired with a light pale ale. My favorite course of the night was the appetizer shrimp Napoleon. To my surprise, the chef had never tasted the beer pairing prior, but absolutely nailed it. This was paired with an IPA and it was a match made in heaven. The dish was layered cilantro cream cheese, pico, avocado and shrimp served with fresh tortilla chips. I'm sure you can imagine that it was fabulous, and trust me it was. It was so balanced and every sip of the pairing between bites really made it. After this dish, an intermission course of sorbet was served (fancy af). It was such a refreshing treat which mimicked the flavors of the paired fruity beer. The entree was a play on fajitas with a Cornish game hen. It was a great portion, individually all the flavors were great but when I made a taco with the fresh tortilla, crema, peppers and onions, rice and beans, cheese, wow. It was such a great balance of flavors. This was paired with a margarita style beer AND a margarita made with the beer. I'm a complete lush and totally loved this. The meal finished with a chocolate stout and a s'mores dessert. They even made the marshmallow from scratch!! The dish had a great salty touch to balance out the sweetness and a sip of the beer pairing in between bites completed the dish. Fabulous. So, all I'm saying is, I better see you at the next paired dinner. read more

Ambiance was nice, quiet, waitstaff very friendly but slow especially since there wasn't really anyone there. Corned beef hash was terrible compared to when I was here a little over a year ago! Corned beef was left Stringy, over cooked very bland, no onions & two or three little pieces of smashed potato for $7 as a side order ! French toast was delicious accept they only gave one tiny cup of syrup! (Put the bottle back on the table like the ketchup & hot sauce or offer the bottle)! Ultimate Bloody Mary did not disappoint! I ordered a meal for pickup. The location is absolutely amazing the views from the top of the mountain is awesome. The restaurant is very open and cozy. I ordered the Pot Roast with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables. The pot roast was tender and braised perfectly and topped with gravy. The roasted vegetables were great they were roasted just well. The vegetables were still crisp and had a perfect smoked taste. I would like to go back for dinner in the spring when I can sit outdoors. Went for brunch for the first time today. Awesome food! I had steak and eggs which was prepared perfectly! Eggs over easy steak medium rare. Great views from the deck! One thing I will note is service. We did sit for about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order after being seated. The table next to us had to get up to get their check and came back mentioning everyone was standing around inside on their phones. When we got our food, I had to get up to go inside and ask for steak knives because no one was around outside. When I went inside. All the wait staff was standing around all on their phones! Surprised that we never found this " hidden gem" for so long. It's a restaurant at the Saratoga golf course, about 15 minutes from the heart of Saratoga Springs. There is a beautiful deck that overlooks the golf course and offers a beautiful view of the sunset. That is the highlight! It's a beautiful spot. That said, the food is good, decent portions and service is good. First time I went, there was an issue with one of the servers/ hostess. There was no table available outside and we asked how long it would be. She refused to tell us how long the wait would be for the outside deck, and essentially ignored us after that. We decided to sit at the bar, have a drink and wait a while. Bartender was very nice, friendly and helpful as was the rest of the staff afterward. Cocktails were excellent! Turns out a table was available outside in about 15 minutes, which worked out perfectly. ( we had no reservations and were fine with waiting). Next time we did make reservations ,and enjoyed another lovely meal outside. It was a busy night, service was a little slow, however, staff was very apologetic , and tried very hard to accommodate. I think they Did a good job, and understand how tough it can be. This restaurant is definitely off the beaten path, but worth the trip. Go for the view and stay for the food. read more

I chose The Hideaway to host my annual Christmas event this year. This is a small, intimate event but still very important and special to myself and my guests every year. The staff, atmosphere and food at the Hideaway we're absolutely perfect! From the moment I made contact everyone was attentive, friendly, and professional. I enjoyed working with all of them. None of my guests had previously dined here before so this was their first experience. They were so impressed! Everyone loved the views (bonus for me that it snowed during our visit, which made for an excellent winter backdrop!) and they raved about the appetizers and meal. Several thanked me for introducing them to The Hideaway as it now gives them a new restaurant and event option. If you are seeking an event venue, I highly recommend The Hideaway! This is a cozy spot that I'm sure is quite beautiful when the weather is nice. It is located on an off the beaten path golf course We found our way here for lunch after attending a necessary family occasion near by. My husband had been last time he was on a golf outing. The weather was rainy and cold so we were happy to be seated right by the fireplace and warm up. They are following all of the COVID 19 protocols so I felt comfortable eating inside. The menu has a lot of classic dishes along with a few surprises. The husband zeroed in on the chicken and waffles. He wasn't disappointed. He received a huge juicy piece of breaded chicken along with fluffy waffles. The chicken was surprisingly light and not greasy. It was a massive portion that kept him full enough not to want dinner. I went the classic route and ordered a turkey club. This was a thing of beauty. Tender turkey and bacon layered with fresh tomatoes and lettuce on toast. The ingredients were fresh and proportions just right which made all the difference between a mediocre sandwich and a delicious one. We enjoyed our lunch and I look forward to visiting again when the weather is nicer and we can sit outside. read more

We were greeted with drinks right off the bat. Everything went down hill after we were served our first drinks. Steaks were shot, service after being seated-uncalled for. I'm very surprised I'm the first to review this restaurant. We ate here based on recommendations from friends. The atmosphere is great, the restaurant is new, fresh and relaxing. They did a great job in the construction/design. Service was very good, staff was friendly and fun. Food - we had calamari and wings for appetizers. The calamari was very good, and I'm someone who normally doesn't like calamari. My wife thought maybe a touch too much breading. The wings were cooked just right, crispy but not over cooked. The spicy dry rub flavor was very good and similar to an old bay seasoning which I enjoy. It was 3 of us. Our child had a burger with a gluten free roll. He said the roll was very good, which if you deal with GF challenges, you know that's a good statement to hear. The burger was cooked perfectly and flavorful. The waffle fries were also excellent. My wife had lobster ravioli. Her statement was it was "AMAZING!" Large chucks of lobster which is not always the norm. I also had a burger and waffle fries, and it was excellent. Mother's Day Bust. Thought I purchased seven tickets to Mother's Day brunch. My bad I guess. It took me a week to gather my thoughts and articulate just how disappointed I was in the quality, organization, and cost value. Purchased six adult tickets for $36 and a ticket for a four year old for $20. Thought it was a bit pricey but o get it....special occasions cost a bit more than normal brunch meals. My expectations were shattered by the cafeteria quality of the scrambled eggs, not in house made breads and sweets, halved sausage patties. The quality of the food was not inline with their reputation. For the price I would have expected a complimentary Bloody Mary or mimosa would have been part of the pricing. Organization was poor as the food buffet was pushed In the corner as a posed to being centrally located with two serving sides to accommodate quicker lines. Hiding in the corner was just poor planning. Cost Value was perhaps my biggest complaint. Bagels and muffins did not seem to be made in house. Eggs were plain and seemed prepackaged. Bacon was bacon and sausage Patties were cut in half. Biscuits and gravy were small but were at least tasty. The highlight was the waffles which were served with syrup or fruit topping and a cinnamon whipped cream which was good. The waffles were however kid size. Not the typical size you find on the average menu. The final items was tortellini and potatoes which were tasteless. The initial serving after a long wait in line was one small scoop of eggs, a slice of bacon, half of patty of sausage, a scoop of potatoes, small waffle, one small biscuit with gravely and tortellini all of which barely filled the 9 inch plate. Now I know second trips were okay. But due to lines and time constraints as well as no will to eat more average food stopped me and my entire table from seconds. Honestly I'd be shocked if I was told the value of the plate of food exceeded $7. The four year old ate a muffin which is typical for a four year old ($20). I've been told their normal Sunday breakfast/brunch is outstanding. Maybe sometime I'll give it a try. But seeing I was $220+ into a bad buffet the likelihood of that is not promising. This place! The food and beverage is on par (a little pun for this golf course restaurant!). Seriously though, they have delicious food at super reasonable prices. Their chicken and waffles is amazing. I love it so much, I have to force myself to try other menu items! The view from the entire restaurant is beautiful. Just as important-the owners are awesome people. They did so much for the community during covid even though they were struggling themselves. We have been to this restaurant for a private party and enjoyed the buffet. I think they do right by their private parties. We went again on a Friday for dinner and left. A very loud party was going on in the banquet room which the noise carried over to the dining room. We were not greeted at the restaurant. We waited for someone to acknowledge us. The bar -dining room is sports themed with TVs blaring. Room was very loud and echoed. We decided we wanted a quiet atmosphere. As we started to leave someone finally greeted us. We told him we weren't staying and he very politely said that's too bad. Please come back and see us. We decided to stop in Saturday and give them another try because we had heard good things. Hostess was friendly and seated us. Dining-room was so sunny guests were covering their eyes at their tables. I would recommend some upper blinds for their dining-room. Noise really echoes with the high ceilings, Place was pretty chaotic with a banquet in one room, full dining room and private party going on behind us. Golfers were coming and going chatting with servers. Lots going on! Menu had a lot of choices to choose from apps, sandwiches, salads and dinners. Almost too many choices to be done well. We decided to order drinks and the hot crab dip as a started. They had a nice list of refreshing summer drinks to choose from along with various beers. The Citrus drink and watermelon drink were refreshing. The hot crab dip came out slightly warm with 4 small crostini's, Couldn't tell if the dip or bread was over salted or if they ran out of bread. 4 little pieces of bread was not enough for the French onion crock of dip. The server went to take it away and I said we couldn't finish half because we needed some more bread. She agreed to get more bread. We placed our orders for our steaks. She didn't ask how I wanted it cooked. My husband told her he would like his medium rare. She then realized she never asked me, I said the same. No silverware was set on the table. The meals came with side salads which were a nice size. Very fresh. They also came with a choice of vegetable and choice of potatoes. We chose the roasted reds. Should have opted for the mashed. The potatoes were cold and hard. The steaks were decent except for the fact they were swimming in a pool of overcooked vegetable juice which should have been left on the side. Scallops were tasty but lacking a good searing as scallops should. After waiting awhile for our check the waiter brought over a machine to print out our bill. She mentioned she added $3 for the additional 4- 3 inch by 1 inch crostini's. I said fine because I just wanted to get out of there at that point. The loud cackling people in the private party behind us were so loud I couldn't hear my husband. I shoved my credit card in her machine and gave her more of a tip than I felt she deserved because it seemed they were lacking in help. Table next to us didn't have silverware either with a different server. All in all I would like a refund on my $125 dinner bill. Money would have been better spent on golf and lunch. On a positive note the outdoor dining looked nice. Several dishes that passed by such as salads, wings, nachos and burgers looked great!If I were Management, I would stick to the pub food. Lunch seems like a better choice here. Weekends are chaotic! read more

The Lobster ravioli and shrimp and Scallops risotto were delicious and the portions were perfect. They ran out of Rye whisky which was disappointing but other than that everything was great.
