Pretty nice restaurant for golf course halfway stop. I had the special black bean Patti on top of salad. The dressing was awesome!

After a day at the horse races, I stopped by The Hideaway with my family for a late dinner. My husband and I shared the French Onion soup and both liked it. I ended up ordering the Turkey Club with sweet potato fries for my dinner. The sandwich was delicious and huge - I managed to eat a quarter of my meal. Additionally, our waitress was super friendly and attentive throughout our visit. My family and I would definitely revisit next year after the races.

It was our first time dinning in at the Hideaway and we'll be back. The bartender was friendly and efficient. Wednesday is wing night, for $10 you get a dozen wings; we ordered hot and extra crispy. They also have a decent blue cheese. lastly, we shared the hideaway chicken sandwich. This was very fresh, a giant juicy, housemate breaded chicken breast. For $1 we upgraded to onion rings. They also have a decent draft and can selection priced reasonably. Play a twilight 9 holes and hit the Hideaway!

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a Coursed Paired Beer Dinner with Founders Brewing Co at The Hideaway. Let me start by saying, next time they host one of these, get your tickets! One of the owners Chad was so welcoming and friendly, I would never hesitate to return. This is an awesome place. It was an absolutely fantastic night filled with deliciously crafted plates, that were perfectly paired with the accompanying beers from Founders Brewing Co. The portions were also great and much more than I expected! This was a six course meal, paired with 8oz pours of the accompanying beers. I added the menus to the photos in case you need more details! The meal was started with an individually skewered play on charcuterie and it was paired with a dark ale. I really enjoyed all the elements on the plate, and the surprise was the raspberry compote and reduction on the plate. It gave a sweet and bitter balance to the salty meats and cheese. It was beautiful to enjoy all those flavors together. The following plate was a gazpacho served with a cheese crisp. The crisp added great saltiness to the soup. The soup itself was very similar to a salsa, however *disclaimer* I have never had gazpacho so I can not compare it to anything else. This was paired with a light pale ale. My favorite course of the night was the appetizer shrimp Napoleon. To my surprise, the chef had never tasted the beer pairing prior, but absolutely nailed it. This was paired with an IPA and it was a match made in heaven. The dish was layered cilantro cream cheese, pico, avocado and shrimp served with fresh tortilla chips. I'm sure you can imagine that it was fabulous, and trust me it was. It was so balanced and every sip of the pairing between bites really made it. After this dish, an intermission course of sorbet was served (fancy af). It was such a refreshing treat which mimicked the flavors of the paired fruity beer. The entree was a play on fajitas with a Cornish game hen. It was a great portion, individually all the flavors were great but when I made a taco with the fresh tortilla, crema, peppers and onions, rice and beans, cheese, wow. It was such a great balance of flavors. This was paired with a margarita style beer AND a margarita made with the beer. I'm a complete lush and totally loved this. The meal finished with a chocolate stout and a s'mores dessert. They even made the marshmallow from scratch!! The dish had a great salty touch to balance out the sweetness and a sip of the beer pairing in between bites completed the dish. Fabulous. So, all I'm saying is, I better see you at the next paired dinner.

    Corn that they pre-buttered. Yum!

This year our oven broke so we decided to order our Thanksgiving Dinner from The Hideaway. Wow what a tremendous experience and meal! Absolutely delicious, totally affordable ( $54.00!!!!!)and so easy! Zero dishes!

The Ultimate Bloody Mary!! Absolutely amazing!
    Rodger N T.

Ambiance was nice, quiet, waitstaff very friendly but slow especially since there wasn't really anyone there. Corned beef hash was terrible compared to when I was here a little over a year ago! Corned beef was left Stringy, over cooked very bland, no onions & two or three little pieces of smashed potato for $7 as a side order ! French toast was delicious accept they only gave one tiny cup of syrup! (Put the bottle back on the table like the ketchup & hot sauce or offer the bottle)! Ultimate Bloody Mary did not disappoint! Steak was under seasoned and a little over cooked. Over easy eggs were brown on the underside so obviously the pan was too hot! I never mind paying good money for QUALITY food The Hideaway reputation & food quality is slipping!

A nice place for a meal. Live music was playing the background and the service was very quick! The appetizers were very good and the NY strip was excellent! A little loud in the restaurant where we sat. The deck outside was very nice

I ordered a meal for pickup. The location is absolutely amazing the views from the top of the mountain is awesome. The restaurant is very open and cozy. I ordered the Pot Roast with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables. The pot roast was tender and braised perfectly and topped with gravy. The roasted vegetables were great they were roasted just well. The vegetables were still crisp and had a perfect smoked taste. I would like to go back for dinner in the spring when I can sit outdoors. There was ample parking space and the parking lot was close to the restaurant.

It was half empty, but that can be expected for a rainy Thursday night; the crowd of what seemed to be regulars definitely kept the place lively. One server sat us and took our drink and food orders, but after bringing our drinks we had a different server for the rest of the evening; might've just been the way the sections were split, but it did leave a bit of a wait between drink refills and checking in on how we were doing as food came out. We did a round of drinks including a mule for my mom and drafts for myself and my dad including the Downeast cider winter blend and Labatt Blue beer. For our appetizers we each got something a bit different: I went with the pretzel, which came sliced into nugget-sized dippers; my mom got the fried mozzarella which has the option to get Melba sauce with it; my dad went for the calamari. The pretzel and calamari both were large portions and could easily be split between 2-3 people, but the mozzarella portion was more suited to one person. The pretzel was unsalted but a quick dash from the shakers on the table fixed that. For our meals, my dad got the tavern sandwich with fries, my mom opted for the buffalo chicken salad, and I went with the Asian seared tuna salad. Everything was quite tasty & very filling; my dad brought home half his sandwich and fries, and my mom & I couldn't quite clear our salad bowls. The tuna was seasoned and seared well, though maybe a touch peppery for some people's tastes, and the Asian dressing was quite similar in flavor profile to eel sauce frequently paired with sushi. The receipt prints with a QR code to pay, so if you're not tech-savvy I can see how that can be a little confusing/frustrating to pay, but it worked fine for us. As it was half-empty when we were there the noise wasn't bad, though both my parents agreed it can get very loud on busy nights and could use more sound-absorbing materials.

The server/ bartender was both friendly and efficient. The food came up relatively quickly. I was relieved and delighted. The tavern has just the right look. It's cute from the outside with nice signage. Inside, the lighting is dim-- especially at night--with the feel of a cool dive bar. If you want a more festive setting during the summer, there's outdoor seating complete with hanging string lights. That actually looked very inviting but my friends chose to stay indoors due to the threat of rain. As we prepared to leave, my friends were wondering why they hadn't been to the tavern before. My order was bagged and all set in about 22 minutes after ordering, just enough time to drive from Speigletown to Sycaway with heavy fair traffic. My drink cup was filled up with ice cold Coca Cola as I grabbed my food. I ate my food outside. The fries were a bit soft, but tasted pretty good dipping into the cup of ranch dressing. The chicken sandwich smothered in sweet bbq blaze sauce & topped with pickles on a soft bun was pretty good.
