While in town for work, I ended up visiting here twice. I had the lobster roll both times, first time the flight and then just butter the second time (my personal favorite, warmed too). This place was definitely very busy when I came on the weekend, but wasn't too bad for a later lunch on a week day. Service was great even when they were busy. I don't even know how big the restaurant was because I sat in the same part both times, but it seems pretty big and has an outdoor section in rhe back. When in Maine, I'll definitely be coming back here! Prices are steep, but lobster is not cheap anywhere. read more

Good roll and glad we got it. Grabbed it and took it to the lighthouse for a snack. I probably wouldn't order the flight again and just stick with a regular roll. The portions were smaller per roll and the bun to lobster ratio was more bun heavy. Also having the mayo on top was annoying. Not sure why they don't do bun, mayo and then lobster. The Lobster roll from The Highroller is pretty up there! It's not the best I've had but it is very good. I guess I learned that I don't like mayo with the roll because it overpowers the flavor and this place specializes in sauces so of course I tried their mayo. I'm sure the classic butter on a roll would be just right. Potato salad was great though! And I love that they have a vast n/a drink options. A little something for everyone. Everything was exceptional, starting with the bread which was fluffy, soft, and buttery. I enjoyed my meal so much that I ordered two of the lobster flights. For my selections, I chose the sweet red pepper mayo, charred pineapple mayo, mango habanero mayo, drawn butter, jalapeno mayo, and garlic mayo. I also appreciated the option of the 2oz flight sandwich sizes and chose warmed rolls for all of them. Furthermore, the waiters and host were warm and friendly. Potato salad was also very much on point. If the wait to sit down and dine in is too long for your liking, they do have a to-go menu (which is what we did today) . We walked in Saturday afternoon on a scorching July 5th and got seated asap. We already had our hearts set on lobster rolls so we ordered quick one hot butter one cold. The lobster was falling out of the bun the portion was plenty. Lobster was sweet and delicious. Oysters were bring and the brine was not spilled out of the shell win! We came here super excited about this place with its cool outside look and decor inside. We were pretty disappointed leaving and wished we had gone elsewhere for dinner. We checked in and were sat down and told promptly to let anyone know if we needed anything and we would be helped. Went to order and there was some confusion amongst staff, and instead of taking our order then figuring it out, they had us wait and watch while they sorted things. Sat back down and realized we might have not ordered the lobby pop fried how we wanted but instead regular and went back up to change. Was charged an additional $2 when we had waited through the ordering scuffle and already paid $150. Food was brought to table in an okay span of time, and after drinking my soda, asked for a refill with one of the staff members that brought my food. She said I could go to counter and be helped - ironic after being told anyone could help if we needed anything. Know lobster is expensive, but felt it was overpriced for the experience we had. Yet, when I ordered it on the digital menu (you put your order in at your table and they bring the food) I forgot to select Connecticut style (warmed lobster) and thus I was served cold lobster in a warm buttery bread...... AND IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! I loved the selections of sauces that are drizzled on top. I added sweet potato fries and my only wish is that there was a sweet dipping sauce for those, but it didn't take away from the meal being so good overall! Not worth all the hype! Subpar customer service minus hostess. The hostess was great, helpful when she saw us walking around and directed us to the washrooms. The younger guys running food and guys standing around chatting with each other weren't helpful. They saw my friends water cups were low but didnt offer any refills. I saw one of them putting food in the to go area when I walked up to the host stand, we made eye contact but no greeting at all. There were 2 tables who sat down way after us but immediately received their food. We ordered Lobby Pops, Lobster Rolls, Haddock Sandwich and their lobster flights. My cousin's food came out before ours, we only ordered 1 lobby pop and a haddock sandwich this visit. The wait wasn't too long but 45mins for just 1 lobster tail on a stick is ridiculous. My cousins larger order came out 15 minutes before ours. Maybe they were working on our sauce? My husband's Haddock sandwich was paper thin. The lettuce was thicker than the actual fish. Would not recommend it. Lobby pop was tasty. Blood Mary was okay, nothing special. Tasted fresh. I do love their charred pineapple sauce. Highlight of this place. It was creamy and refreshing. Honestly, don't think I'll recommend this to anyone. You can get better tentative service elsewhere and have yummy lobster. Saw others on here recently having customer service issues as well. This place is fascinating. They are always so busy, yet, every time we go there is a seat available for us!! It's pretty awesome, because I hate waiting for tables. LOL We have only sat outside on the patio, which I prefer, because it's not as loud and Maine in the spring and fall time is just beautiful. The outdoor seating area is made up of picnic tables. You can order via a QR code or you can go to the window that faces out to the patio to place an order. The tables had utensils, napkins and condiments, which is great. Because the food can get a little messy depending on how many sauces you order :) I love the ordering process - so easy and you can customize a lot via the app. and in the times we have been, our orders were 100% correct. Because you are ordering via the app, there's no preceived pressure to order everything at once, you can order as you as wish. We started with drinks, got some snacks a bit later and once we were done with those, we decided we would order "meals". Everything still comes out pretty fast - hot and delicious! I haven't had any of their lobster offerings, however, friends have and they seemed to enjoy them, although they were not too impressed with the prices. So I wanted to see what all the hype was about with lobster rolls in Maine / New England in general lol. As soon as we walked up to Highroller, there was a crowd outside and I was like omggg. We put our name on the list and the wait was about an hour. Thankfully, there are a bunch of shops nearby, so we walked around while waiting, which made it way more doable. When we came back, our table was ready and it was outside, which I didn't mind since it wasn't cold yet. We ordered lobster bisque right away and each got our own lobster roll. My husband got his with lobster ghee and jalapeño mayo, and I played it safe with butter and lobster ghee. The lobster bisque was amazing super rich, filling, and honestly I would've been satisfied just eating that alone. The chunks of lobster in it were sooo good . The lobster rolls were also really good. The lobster ghee paired perfectly with the meat, and the bun was soft, buttery, and had that slight crisp. The only thing that felt a little off for us was that the lobster meat seemed a bit fatty in the rolls, which kind of threw us off. We were here because we were on a cruise ship that stopped in Portland, Maine. I think it's kind of standard that if you go to Portland Maine, you absolutely must have a lobster roll. My husband got the mango habanero mayo, and jalapeño mayo on the side. I got the regular mayo and the red pepper mayo also on the side. We took our first few bites without any sauces. My husband runs up, adding the mango habanero to his and towards the end they put a little mayo on mine both were absolutely delicious and worth every penny and the wait.
