So so so good!! I had Highroller bookmarked for a while, but after seeing them recognized on The Food Network, I knew I had to get there asap! There is tons of seating, inside and out. And more than one way to order! You can scan the QR code, order with a server, or go up to the walk up window outside. The lobster was so good! The 2 oz lobster roll was over flowing with lobster. It may have been a mini roll, but I couldn't believe the amount of lobster! Def check this place out when in Maine!

The Lobster roll from The Highroller is pretty up there! It's not the best I've had but it is very good. I guess I learned that I don't like mayo with the roll because it overpowers the flavor and this place specializes in sauces so of course I tried their mayo. I'm sure the classic butter on a roll would be just right. Potato salad was great though! And I love that they have a vast n/a drink options. A little something for everyone. The easy QR code ordering allows you to order on your own so you don't have to split the bill later. Much appreciated for those who come in a big group. Truly worth trying!

Everything was exceptional, starting with the bread which was fluffy, soft, and buttery. I enjoyed my meal so much that I ordered two of the lobster flights. For my selections, I chose the sweet red pepper mayo, charred pineapple mayo, mango habanero mayo, drawn butter, jalapeno mayo, and garlic mayo. I also appreciated the option of the 2oz flight sandwich sizes and chose warmed rolls for all of them. Furthermore, the waiters and host were warm and friendly. They were incredibly helpful in guiding us as tourists toward items they knew we would enjoy. Very casual and family friendly space. I will absolutely be recommending Highroller Lobster Co. to others. Thank you for the great service and delicious food.

Highroller was a good spot for trying many different foods that had lobster in it! We had the lobster mac and cheese, lobster grilled cheese, and of course a few lobster rolls. Everything was pretty good! The only complaint was that the wait was very long, and sitting outside in the humidity didn't make it as enjoyable as it could have been. The inside however was very cute and diner-style!

Ok. 5 stars because this place is just so darn cute! But it is expensive, but, also, lobster is expensive wherever you go. So Highroller is a legitimate 5 star experience. Started off with a wonderful local beer. My wife and I split a lobster roll and fries. Service was wonderful, even though you walk up to order. We sat outside on a beautiful Maine evening. Perfect night out!

We walked in Saturday afternoon on a scorching July 5th and got seated asap. We already had our hearts set on lobster rolls so we ordered quick one hot butter one cold. The lobster was falling out of the bun the portion was plenty. Lobster was sweet and delicious. Oysters were bring and the brine was not spilled out of the shell win! We also had two cans of Coke to drink. The bill is hefty but when in Portland you have to enjoy the seafood. Also the swag in the front retail part of the restaurant is very sporty and well made. We bought a hat and t shirt.

We came here super excited about this place with its cool outside look and decor inside. We were pretty disappointed leaving and wished we had gone elsewhere for dinner. We checked in and were sat down and told promptly to let anyone know if we needed anything and we would be helped. Went to order and there was some confusion amongst staff, and instead of taking our order then figuring it out, they had us wait and watch while they sorted things. Sat back down and realized we might have not ordered the lobby pop fried how we wanted but instead regular and went back up to change. Was charged an additional $2 when we had waited through the ordering scuffle and already paid $150. Food was brought to table in an okay span of time, and after drinking my soda, asked for a refill with one of the staff members that brought my food. She said I could go to counter and be helped - ironic after being told anyone could help if we needed anything. Know lobster is expensive, but felt it was overpriced for the experience we had. Seems as though they need to figure out if tables should be served or a kiosk system should be in place. Would not come back or recommend to anyone.

can't believe i am rating this place 5 stars as a seafood hater. i came here with family so that they could try the lobster rolls and was shocked to discover that i didn't hate my bite!!! truly the first piece of lobster that i consumed and didn't hate. my mind is blown. i wouldn't order one for myself but very impressed. wide variety of fun sauces as well. the whoopie pie is excellent!! the man that helped us was super welcoming and made the to go ordering process easy. cute store with merchandise, clean and bright.

I ordered takeout and had to wait about 45 minutes for my food, which was longer than expected. The lobster roll was disappointing. It tasted bland and lacked the fresh, buttery flavor I was hoping for. Considering the price, I expected much better quality and more flavor. Overall, it wasn't a bad meal, but I don't think it was worth the wait or the price.

Vibrant atmosphere and delicious food. LOL at default 20% tip when there's barebone service.

While visiting the cute little town square in Portland, Maine we stopped for lunch at Highroller Lobster. I had a couple of lobster rolls in the past but I just wasn't impressed. However being that close to Maine lobster, I had to indulge. Our server was very helpful in guiding me to the best way to have it. Yet, when I ordered it on the digital menu (you put your order in at your table and they bring the food) I forgot to select Connecticut style (warmed lobster) and thus I was served cold lobster in a warm buttery bread...... AND IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! I loved the selections of sauces that are drizzled on top. I added sweet potato fries and my only wish is that there was a sweet dipping sauce for those, but it didn't take away from the meal being so good overall! I am now a fan of lobster rolls but only at Highroller Lobster.

Amazing lobster rolls. The chips and fish was also great. Nice patio for a quick bite. Many different size options on the lobster rolls so you can just stop in for a light bite or a big meal. Very customizable and the sauces are great.

After I saw that one of the influencers I follow was in Maine at the same time as me, and did a lobster roll tour naming Highroller's her favorite, I just knew I had to visit and try one for myself. We stopped by The Highroller around 12:30 pm on a Saturday and had no issues getting a table inside. The inside dining room is spacious and they also have outdoor tables in the front and backyard patio. It has diner vibes inside, friendly, upbeat, casual. You place your order via Toast on your phone. They have a pretty big menu, with unique items and sauces. I got the traditional lobster roll, warmed, with the lime & jalapeno mayo and charred pineapple mayo on the side. Of all the rolls I had in Maine during my weeklong vacation, this one was my favorite. I also loved the sauces with it. My husband, who doesn't eat seafood, got a corndog which he enjoyed. We also each got frozen pina coladas - Yum! If I had been in town longer, I would have loved to try their lobster tacos and grilled cheese. This place was really good and a fun atmosphere - I would definitely recommend!

Ask the Community - The Highroller Lobster

Do you have gluten free rolls?

While it may not be what you are expecting, they do offer a Lobster Cheese Taco where the shell is hardened cheese. Likely your best gluten-free "roll" option.

    Do you take reservations?

    First come/ first seated

Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating area?

They are! I asked the restaurant via Instagram when I was in Portland and they said that they're definitely allowed outside, also someone else had their dog out there with them.

Will you deliver to Thomas Point Beach Campground?

    They do not do delivery.

How are they with food allergies?

I found the menu very customizable and the staff very knowledgeable about the food. The menu is composed of pretty simple ingredients as well.…

How much is the popcorn lobster?

"Popcorn " is an additional $1 to the fried lobster pop! It's just small fried balls (vice on a stick!)

Do they have gluten free bread or buns?

They have gluten free taco shells

Do they serve red sapper dogs?

    Yes exclusively

My wife enjoyed her dinner as the fried haddock was fresh with a nice light batter. The fries were okay, albeit a bit generic. My platter also came with the same nicely fried haddock. It also came with a small handful of fried whole bellied claws and a large amount of popcorn shrimp. The clams were disappointing, a bit on the rubbery and soggy side, sitting under the haddock getting steamed in the process. The breading had disappeared. The tiny shrimp added nothing to the dish. The cole slaw that came with both plates was weak, with little if any dressing and overly shredded veggies. All in all it was just okay, but admittedly a disappointment. I should have went with the lobster roll.

It's likely we just showed up during an off day/time but left more disappointed than excited. Booked a reservation for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary of when we started dating and they did include a card thanking us for choosing to celebrate it with them. Was a nice little touch. Inside has a rustic feeling vibe and the low ceilings does make it quite loud. Our server eventually greeted us and took our drink orders. I had a spicy tequila cocktail called Kissies and Poppies while my wife had a gin based cocktail called Secret Garden. Both were decent but nothing special enough to rush back for. Appetizer wise the only one on their menu during our visit was freshly sliced prosciutto which was tasty but did not stand out anymore than your typical grocery store prosciutto. For the main event and the purpose of checking them out my wife got the Shrimp Linguine in Butter and Garlic. I gave their Grilled Lobster Linguine in Butter and Garlic a try. Both dishes had great flavor and they did not skimp on garlic! Lobster does come in shell and our server did warn us. Despite the good taste the slow service really left a sour taste in our mouths. Our reservation was for 9:30 PM (showed up a bit early) and didn't receive food til almost 10:30 or after and we ordered relatively quick. Our server did come over once during our wait saying it would be soon. Though once we got our food the server didn't check on us again til we finished. Maybe it was due to being part of the last meals being served. Not a great excuse but who knows, extremely lackluster service for a higher end spot that should make you feel welcome! We did skip out on dessert to avoid more waiting. Im glad so many people enjoy this spot, but if my wife and I are feeling a nicer dinner we will go elsewhere!

I would highly recommend multiple rounds of oysters -- the first to try one of each and figure out which varieties you prefer, the second to get more of the ones you like, and the last to go all in on your favorite. They've got a varied selection that will suit various tastes, whether you favor a large creamy oyster, a small briny guy, or somewhere in between. All from Maine, which made me feel better about having oysters in a non-ber month. The oysters here are top notch, and the shuckers are, too. Not a single speck of shell in there! I love oysters, and this was my paradise. The non oyster items are also worth trying, so if you have a friend who isn't into oysters, there's something here for them, too. The smoked fish dip and french onion dip are awesome, and the chips they get from another local producer are fantastic. Whether you're a beer lover, a wine person, or a cocktailer, they've got something for you here. Any of those could be the perfect company for your favorite oyster, or you could go for their cucumber mint lemonade slushy, which is insanely refreshing and a great palate cleanser between oysters. If I didn't live on the opposite side of the country, I'd be here all the time. Unfortunately for me, I'm relegated to pining for these oysters from a distance.
