We love the pizza here; thin crust and delicious sauce and toppings. But when you put your name on the waiting list and are skipped over it is really disappointing. Managing a waitlist for tables is not rocket science. We ate at the bar instead. And beware, if you order a pizza other than what their standard menu offerings are, suddenly you are paying for each individual ingredient. For example, we ordered a meats pizza and added three toppings. Instead of paying ~$20 plus what the additional 3 toppings cost we ended up paying $50 plus for a 15" pizza because each ingredient was itemized separately. Ridiculous! It's enough to make us not want to go back, regardless of how good the pizza was. read more

Love the family in this "family business". Our first visit and we felt welcome and cared for immediately. We came here because of a Facebook post my sister shared with us about a movie night the place was hosting. Despite having vacationed in this area several times a year for decades, we somehow missed this place! We decided to come for dinner and stay for the movies out on the deck. We enjoyed dinner on the beautiful deck with seating on attractive, upscale looking picnic type tables. The decor on the tables was Northwoods Chic with big lanterns and adorable, decorative buckets, which held the utensils, napkins and condiments. This beautiful old establishment has been expertly updated to meld old with new. The pergola that graces the spacious deck is a nice touch, as is the nearby fire pit with Adirondack chairs for relaxing drinks and socializing. The outdoor facilities are all draped in cafe lights, which add to the aesthetically pleasing venue. Indoors is a perfectly updated old world, Wisconsin bar and supper club. It is a wonderfully old, full log building complete with original, antique coolers from bygone days. The bar is a welcoming circular design, complete with antique mounts and colorful beer signs adorning the walls. For dinner, my daughter loved the pulled pork with a unique, horseradish-based sauce. Her friend thoroughly enjoyed the curry chicken salad sandwich and both girls said the fries were excellent. Being a Friday evening, I had the "fish-fry" of breaded perch. It was breaded with a cornmeal crust and tasted fine. I do have to mention that the fillets were perfect and identical, flat, triangles, which made me wonder if they were not just frozen, store-bought. They were adequate but not the tastiest I've had. The potato pancakes were very good. Our waitress, the bartender and hostesses were all delightful, courteous, professional and extremely friendly. After dinner, we stayed for the double feature right there on the deck! It was great! While there was of course seating from the dinning portion of the deck, pillows blankets and additional folding chairs were welcome. We were treated to free popcorn during the show and had the opportunity to buy large-sized, movie candy for only $1.50! Overall, it was really a wonderful evening! read more

Pizza. That is what this place is known for. Really good pizza. I got the Ron's special and it was loaded with goodness. The small (12 inch) was like a large..could definitely feed 3-4 people for a small. The ribs were also good, fall off the bone. The fries were nice and crispy. Salad bar was good (only had 3 options for dressing) and soup for that night was creamy chicken dumpling. We did had an hour plus wait (but it was also Memorial Day weekend). The staff were very nice. We sat at the bar for drinks while we waited and the bartenders were very friendly. FYI They only take cash - they accept cards but with a 3% credit card charge. Found this place on a whim and so glad we did. You can tell by asking the locals that they are there for the pizza. They rave about it. Just had a "special" pizza, large, and it was fantastic. The flavor on their crust is exceptional, very unique. Has the toasty flavor of a well worn oven. And the Ribs are fall off the bone with an excellent sauce. Not too sweet or spicy. Also love the new outside deck. It's very well made, and comfortable. Conveniently located restaurant with bar food. Seating available at the bar and indoor and outside which is nice! Our waitress, Claire, is what makes this 3 star restaurant elevate to four stars. She was great!! Even during covid times where all restaurants are stressed she took the time to talk to us and was very friendly. Stopped in for pizza with our grown up kids. It was 7:30pm on a summer week night. The place was almost empty. What's up with that? We were seated immediately which is rather strange as we normally have to wait for a table. Our waitress was attentive and took our order quickly. Drinks came fast and the garlic bread came quickly too. We ordered two large pizza's, but one of the pizza's came out with pepperoncini (spicy peppers) on it instead of pepperoni (spicy meat). I took one bite and thought the pizza was rancid until I figured out the issue. I located the waitress and told her of the mistake. She took the pizza back to the kitchen and we received the pepperoni pizza as we wanted. The only thing is this is the first burnt bottom pizza we ever r got at Vinchies in all the years of going there. No sense on returning the second one, it came a half hour after our first pizza. I'm hoping that this will be a one time mistake, but I am wondering if something is slipping away at Vinchies. read more

My first visit since new ownership and was pleasantly surprised that they spruced up the dining room with new paint, carpet, & table reconfiguration. I love the coziness of the u-shape bar and they serve a great thin crust pizza that you can order at the bar. We moved to the dining room for dinner and had walleye and cod entrees and the walleye is what I'd recommend because the cod was too thin and greasy and, I wish they served a bread with their fish fry. For those of you that love a salad bar - there is one - but it could be better & fresher but some of the homemade salads on it are pretty tasty. It is a great little place in the northwoods and a beautiful drive to get there but I'm going to stick with the pizza which is a sure thing! read more

Carol is an amazing waitress who made us feel welcome and made the best beer recommendations! The pizza was outstanding. It was as good as the thin crust pizza I grew up with in Milwaukee. The sauce was delicious. I ordered jalapeño wheat beer from tribute brewery in nearby Eagle River and Carol recommended a chaser of blueberry wheat. This is the only pizza I will eat anymore. I love thin, crispy crusts, and Vinchi's is the best. They are generous with toppings--the veggie pizza is my favorite. The salad bar is excellent, with fresh ingredients and unique little specialty salads. I only wish it were closer to home. By the way, when you go, ask for the Kate. She's the best. read more

Vinchi's is a true Northwoods gem. It's a must every time we are in the area. The toughest decision is whether to get the pizza or ribs...so we usually make two trips and get both. The thin crust pizza is to die for. Terrific sauce and you can really tell they use only the freshest ingredients. Tough to eat any other pizza after we've had Vinchis.
