I had high expectations. VERY disappointed. The steak was tough and not very warm. One of the worst steaks I've had. And expensive. This is the only place I've been disappointed in Bentonville. I'm not sure where to start with this review other than a beaten at other 21C restaurants and I have been pleased. I ordered halibut which came under cooked and cold on the bottom and the vegetables on the plate roll so cold that should've been At least warm. I sent the plate back in the Burg very gracious and brought some gazpacho as I waited for a properly prepared dish. They gazpacho was delicious and refreshing perfect for a summer evening. I kept looking at the setting which I found offputting and unsettling. It Wasn't that they had the honeycomb and the bees and the vine but the contacts which I found to be a weird juxtaposition of art within a mostly sterile environment. The tables and chairs have been worn but he even new they would I've been rather lack luster. I found the dining space to like the verve of other 21C dining rooms....Without the sculptures on the wall came off it's a dennys vibe. Even the wait staff dress What is varied from bowtie to casual T-shirts... I think they need to curate s better dining experience for the customers. I selected this place after promising my 10yo daughter a "fancy" dinner during our time in Bentonville. All in all, it was an above average experience: The Good: Great decor and ambiance. The beehive theme and overall vibe is truly unique. The service was excellent. Our waiter, Britt, was a true professional and established a great rapport with my daughter. The food was prepared competently and obviously the kitchen staff knows their trade. This is a surprisingly great place to bring a child. My daughter loved when they brought a giant green plastic penguin to join us at our table. She also loved the complimentary cotton candy they brought her for dessert. Room for improvement: Not much... but a couple of small things are keeping this place from true greatness. For one, the menu is very limited. The existing menu items are all basic, and while they are cooked properly, they are pretty boring. The crew in the kitchen is obviously talented, so why not let them flex a little? Add some southern comfort classics like shrimp and grits, meatloaf, or maybe a chicken fried steak. Both my pork chop and my daughter's burger were under-seasoned. Lastly, the place can come across as a little snooty, though maybe that is inevitable for a restaurant attached to an art gallery. As I said, a thoroughly above average experience. My husband made dinner reservations for my birthday here. We had a party of 6 and were seated quickly. It took awhile to get our order/drinks in after we were seated but the cocktails were good. We started with the pimento cheese and white bread app, which was soo tasty. The bacon jam makes a difference. I ordered the autumn squash soup to start dinner off and it was creamy, nutty, and delicious. For dinner I had the house-made Campanella which was my favorite of the night. The perfect crunch, creaminess, and lemon zest. I still think about it... Food was superb, but I will say service could have been a tad better. It took awhile before our server came to take our orders and we were still eating 20 mins past closing since our food came out a bit late. Overall good experience, wonderful drinks and food. I stopped into The Hive while in town on business and loved it! This attractive bar and restaurant sits at one end of the town square in the swanky 21c Hotel. I was very surprised at the cosmopolitan feel. I only had a cocktail and did not dine. But I did take a walk through the restaurant and loved what I saw. The plates looked bright, filled with fresh entrees of nice proportion and color. The bartender was very friendly and welcoming. He gave me the backstory of the bar and restaurant vision. When I wasn't sure what I wanted, he offered suggestions without rushing. I enjoyed a cucumber gimlet that was created to perfection. I will definitely return for a full meal and another gimlet the next time I return to Bentonville. read more

Elegant, eclectic, classed up, "Night at the Museum" feel with extraordinary service would be a quick summation of the astonishing ambience of this magical establishment. I made reservations for dinner & this is an absolute must on any weekend night as it was a Tuesday and the height was beyond bustling & no wane noted as the evening progressed... Hostess was quick, extremely polite, fashionable & I was seated within 10 seconds of arrival. My waitress, Shaney was a vibrant, dynamic, genuine representation of exceeding service point & yet embracing her own personality which was quite refreshing! I ordered a refreshing cocktail & although a slight delay, John, the Food & Beverage manager?(I could be wrong in title?) came by and profusely apologized for what I really did not consider an elongated wait & watched him perform service recovery, initiate eloquent conversation & lead & represent superb service which the entire staff mirrored with their own flair, beautifully! The " Stonewall" cocktail was a gin, lemon, elderflower mixture & was a lovely yet quite potent concoction. Based upon spunky, Shaney's recommendation, I chose the "Hog Chop" & she advised it came medium & I requested it medium well. If you like your pork white throughout then I advise the same. It is thoroughly cooked regardless but, old school notions taint my preference.. The chop came out immediately spiking my senses as visually I see steam & char marks and a lovely bouquet of seared bacon & potatoes wafted from the gleaming white plate with slightly mashed new potatoes, string beans with a red pepper sauce underneath.. The "Hog Chop" is the golden Astrid amongst chops as it was moist, hot, charred perfectly & seasoned with such precision, I nary requested salt or crushed red pepper flakes & those who know me, well this NEVER happens... (high compliments to the Chef!). The red pepper sauce covering the plate underneath ranks as plate licking sensation if etiquette was not required & patrons were not peppered around in Sunday digs.... I did scratch my head as to why the cute little roundly new potatoes Only merited a slight, fork smash, no differential seasoning, charring or beautification? I felt this slight choice made the plating slightly awkward & not enough attention paid to their importance as a critical statement starch. The string, green beans were good & slightly crisp, therefore cooked perfectly but, again felt maybe a different seasoning or a smidgen of crunchies (ie: candied, seared nuts of some sort, maybe crispy bacon too redundant??, just a notch kick up needed!) Finale, was the pecan pie square with the shortbread cookie crust served hot with a dollop of creamy ice cream!!! If you love pecan pie, skip 1,000 calories proceeding & indulge!! Hot brown sugar, butter, pecans & love... Heaven!!!! Cute, circus fun ending which makes each table smile is the cotton candy with the check... Noted that each table took two to 30 something seconds from the ambient blue light of their cell phone and smiled & twirled the cotton candy on their fingers... Cute, diversionary touch.., So in summation, fabulous, service is over the top, purple grand prize ribbon winning, if you are not vegetarian, kosher or allergic then get the Hog Chop cooked to your specifications, note to chef to amp up game on the taters & beans & lastly Pecan Pie is worth a back sliding!!!!! read more

What a fun place! As an amateur beekeeper, I loved the playful bee-centric atmosphere. Two in our party had pan-roasted striped bass and went absolutely gaga for it, especially the vegetables. What an incredible dining experience! Our waiter Neal was amazing! Super nice and helpful and gave some great suggestions of things to do while we were in town. We had dinner here recently while staying at the hotel and it was lovely (both the hotel and the dinner) - service was attentive, menu was a bit limited but we liked everything we had (I opted for the campanelle which was totally delicious), prices were reasonable, and yes, the cotton candy with the bill was a fun and unusual touch! Another fabulous meal at The Hive! Had dinner there last night right after arriving at the equally fabulous 21c hotel. I can't say enough about how much we appreciate the outstanding service here. The minute we walked in and were greeted by John, the food and beverage director, we knew we were in for another special treat. I mean, facial recognition and we don't even live in Bentonville, I really appreciated his warm welcome. He even had the kitchen already prepared for my wife's gluten-free needs, which this place does a great job accommodating. In fact, in between the salad and the entree, he awarded us with the carrot and curry Panisse, which was out of this world. I am not normally a curry fan, but this dish really hit on all cylinders. The consistency was soft and light, the flavors of the curry and the sweated onion, with some shallot, and the coconut yogurt sauce at the bottom all blended together for a great combination. I will remember this dish for a long time. They split the delicious mixed lettuce salad for us, with the sorghum vinaigrette and spiced black walnuts, it was great. And they even split the Berkshire Hog Chop (how did they even do that?), which was cooked perfectly (medium) and was delicious. Really flavorful pork. But the polenta and root vegetables almost stole the show, and that's saying a lot (hats off to chef McClure again!). Loved the chop! Ryan, our server, did perfectly. Acknowledged us quickly, kept drinks flowing, and he was personable and pleasant and completely on top of his service game. Really enjoyed the experience with him. On top of all that, the ambiance was great, we were in a quiet area, could have a nice conversation, and I loved the tunes, too (I can't get GroupLove's "Tonge Tied" out of my head, thank you very much). Very eclectic setting, a delightful surprise. We had one of the iconic green penguins visiting our table which I found delightful. We named him "JJ" after our informed and well executed waiter, Jefferson. The wine list was full of wonderful choices, a yummy Gaja paired beautifully with the Pimento Cheese appetizer and then the pork and pasta. The pasta was the star of the show for sure with bits of lamb folded into a bright tomato sauce. My only complaint would be to inform guests when the chef prefers to prepare pork chop medium with a pink center, still it was delicious. It's cute, y'all. It has this awesome art installation called "Buzzkill" by Johnston Foster that looks like a huge honeycomb with bees on it - perfect for photo ops of course! But enough about the asthetics - lets talk food...this restaurant was by far the best meal I had during my entire trip. It. Was. Awesome. I don't know if I could narrow down my favorites on this menu if I tried. The green goddess dressing on the farmer's salad was a refreshing start and had the perfect blend of herbs. The pasture raised chicken breast with creamy harissa, roasted carrots and green garlic was amazing. If it wasn't frowned upon to pick up my plate and lick it, I would have. They have some equally great cocktails as well. My favorite is the Kentucky Daisy (a bourbon, grapefruit, ginger, and lime and orange blossom water concoction) and the Origami Crane (comprised of vodka, hibiscus, green tea, citron honey, and lemon) was a close second. And any meal that is finished with a big puff of cotton candy is okay in my book! read more

The Hive is located inside Bentonville's one of the best boutique hotel - 21c. The decor is vibrant and inviting! I ordered the citrus and berries, and hive Benedict. Both items were very fresh and easy on the palate. The Benedict were served on a buttermilk biscuit as opposed to traditional English muffin and they worked out really well! I wish could have gotten the pecan crumble as a dish! They were so yumm!! read more

Inside the 21C Hotel, this is a pretty modern place for lunch. If you also want a Penguin (yes, Penguin) to join you for brunch, then just ask. The menu and food was absolutely fantastic. This is only not a 5 star review, because the service was just slow - not awful and friendly, but I despise my counterpart getting their meals before mine by 20 minutes. The Bostonian in me is super impatient when appetizers come out after meals and meals are not served at the same time with their parties. With that said, it was worth the wait. Pros: Atmosphere, no line Fried Chicken, Grits, and Biscuits (LIKE THE BEST THING ON THE MENU) Fried Catfish (pretty cool except you couldn't compare this to the Fried Chicken). Bacon/Sausage, etc. everything brunch Cons: Inconsistent timing of service For some reason, I thought Bentonville was a dry county when visiting in the area - but they have a full bar and pretty decent cocktails. I ate here last night with my husband for our anniversary. After living here for over 3 1/2 years, I finally came here! I actually have been to the bar/lounge area, but not to the actual dine in restaurant. Since it was a Tuesday night close to 745pm, we had no wait and there were quite a few tables available. Our waiter gave us good customer service and answered the questions we had. Time of ordering and when we got our food was relatively quick, but not too quick that makes you question whether your food was just sitting under a heat lamp haha. This is the food we ordered... Butcher Plate: a meat plate with bread and pickled green beans. The pickled green beans were so good! We are going to try to recreate this at home. It had a nice spice to it. Yum! With the meat, I was expecting it to be like other chacuterie boards I have had before at other places, but it was a little different. There were 3 different "meats". I can't remember all the details, but one was an aged bacon and it was pretty good. The second one was a pate - not for me and the third... can't remember, but it wasn't for me either. I would not order it again, but I don't necessarily regret ordering it either. The Hive Burger: We both ordered the burger for our entrees. The burger was good, I'd probably order it again. It came with fries. House Bread: They gave us some house made bread and butter. The bread was pretty good, corn bread style consistency and taste, but not cornbread. The butter was really good! Dessert: I had the pecan pie with buttermilk ice cream. It was good, but I would order something different next time. My husband had the chocolate cobbler and liked it. Portions are really small! Our total was over $70, and I'm not sure it was all worth that to be honest. Overall, it was a good time, but I would rethink my ordering choices if I return. read more

If you haven't been to The Hive, then you haven't really been to Bentonville. This is one of the best places in town for exceptional culinary experiences. I went there with a group of colleagues for breakfast and dinner and loved everything I tried - no matter a signature burger, or just a side as fries, was a pleasant tasting adventure. My favorite thing is actually something very simple - fries with honey. It simply reminded me that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. The chef behind The Hive must be so talented. Actually, he is! The executive chef Matthew McClure has won so many culinary awards in the country and is a legend in Bentonville. If there is anything that I don't like so much at The Hive, probably the corn cake. It tasted a bit too dry to me. But I will try it again next time to see if there is any changes. read more

Very disappointed in the quality of food. We started three appetizers. The Hummus was inedible and the pimento cheese was served with store bought white bread. I ordered the Prime Ribeye which was served not to temperature as ordered. The manager quickly arrived at the table, knowing they served the steak incorrectly. She took the Ribeye and immediately returned with a New York Strip which was tough with no taste. We were very disappointed with the overall evening. It is a very nice restaurant/bar; however, I had 3 drinks, and upon leaving I noticed that I was overcharged- which I believe the server changed the tip amount to $10 more than I had originally left. I am very disappointed and due to this will never be back- as a repeat customer, this is unfortunate.
