Great lunch at the Hive today with my folks while I'm in town. We had the stinger burgers and fish tacos. Dad doesn't like the bun, so got his on a bed of local greens. We both had a side of slaw. Mom said the fish tacos were spicy and delicious. Great service, wonderful homemade food. Loved it! read more

Not a food truck, more like a food trailer that has been made permanent, with an awning and a back room built around it, gaily painted in a bees and pasture motif, a covered seating outside area for the diners, green fields beyond, A restful spot on a rural farm road, a perfect stop on a bike or car ride. Burgers, hot dogs, tacos, grilled cheese. A note on the menu reads "Add Bacon To Anything! +$2.00". The Stinger Burger appealed, but $13 for a burger? From a food stand? Menu did say local, grass-fed beef so I went for it. Burger with sharp cheddar, caramelized onions, arugula, and their own "Stinger Sauce". Loved it. The stinger sauce was really good; a spicy mayonnaise? But the best thing? They don't overcook it. Each time (I've had 3 burgers here) it comes cooked a perfect medium. They didn't ask how I wanted it and I didn't say. So be forewarned and tell them if you want it differently but I think they are perfect. Arugula is a nice change from lettuce and the peppery bite goes with the stinger and bee theme. But the cheese was shredded, not completely melted, and insufficient; the only flaw for what is otherwise a near-perfect burger. Negatives: The burger is served very inconveniently in a tiny paper container more suitable for a hot dog. And it's messy to eat. There are no sides served with it. I expect at least a mini bag of chips and 1/4 pickle with any sandwich order. There's also a farm stand/store adjacent where you can pick up drinks or other sides like chips. It doesn't seem well stocked though. The advertised pies never seem to exist. They host music / burger events weekly in the the summer where they also add a beer truck and I think other food but I've never been. Overall: 4 stars food, 4 variety, 5 ambience, minus 1 for the negatives, 3.5 star, round up to 4 because it's my favorite in the area read more

We stopped in for lunch after biking on the causeway. We ordered fish tacos which were really tasty. We also ordered the bean salad - large sized which was almost $10. It was literally black beans, canned corn (really?!), a smattering of tomatoes and onions. It was like a bean salsa really. Kinda disappointed in it and it was soo expensive. read more

While camping at Grand Isle campground I searched for something the granddaughters would enjoy. We stopped at Allenholm farm, petted the goats and decided to have lunch at the Hive. We had tacos, pulled pork and hotdogs. Everything was delicious and made to order. They have live music on Friday nights and when I'm back later on in the season I'll definitely stop for dinner and music. read more

We found The Hive as so many do, on a bike ride over the causeway. My husband got a burger with small bag of chips. The burg was small but he thought it was good. Wanting a gluten-free option (of which there are none) I had to settle for the yellow corn and black bean salad; the apparent recipe for which is a can of corn, a can of black beans, half a chopped red bell pepper, and some lime juice and doled out in a medium portion by its lonely. For $11. So-so and not even a handful of tortilla chips to go with. $11 for this. Are we going back? Nope. Will we ride farther on next time and find other places to try? Yep. read more

I definitely recommend The Hive Cafe. I have always gotten delicious food and love the staff! My favorites are the Fish Tacos, Pulled Pork, and Cheeseburgers. They have gone out of their way to tweak my requests as they are able. I go as often as I can in the summer and always happy to take family or friends. read more

This is our 4th summer on the island. We go to the Hive regularly and find the burgers to be awesome, flavorful and juicy. The mac and cheese is usually our side dish (has a crunchy topping). Everyone who works there is friendly, helpful and does their best to make sure we enjoy our meal. Their tacos are our go to meal at Snow Farm Winery on Thursday nights during the summer concert series. We love the little truck as much as the big one. 5 stars every time we have been there. read more

Delicious food and friendly service at a reasonable price. We had the fish tacos and a honey grilled cheese sandwich. Both were great. Outdoor tables next to a pretty orchard. Dogs are welcome. There is a shop next door that sells maple ice cream and apple pie. There are goats there too. read more

We waited over an hour for a burger and a grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was very good but not so good as to be worth the wait. The burger was ok. When we asked why people who came after us were served before us, we were told that grilled cheese takes longer. What?? read more

Burger so fresh and delicious. Totally recommend the rhubarbaque sauce. If you are taking the Bike Ferry over to South Hero Island, it is totally worth it to go just up the road to the The Hive and get lunch and a Maple Cremee! read more
