Decent beer and great prices. There are no servers but the place is pretty small so it doesn't matter. There's an inside food truck which serves pretty good pirogies and really good Mac and cheese. I don't remember exactly which cider I got, doh! Some kind of refreshing lemony one I think. It was outstanding! The food truck inside was really tasty as well. I got the salad with shrimp and it had sooo much flavor. My only regret was that I shared it with two people - that was a mistake! I definitely needed more of this yumminess. And it's not very filling. My friend will kill me for this, but I thought the pierogis were just ok! Not enough contrasting flavors for me. But I've never had pierogis before so I have nothing to compare them to other than my own preferred tastes. read more

Advertised open Sat night until 9, but we stopped by at 7:30 and it was closed, no explanation.

Totally amazing. Totally well-thought out everything, right down to the features in the bathroom. (sink, toilet, LIGHT SWITCH) The HiVe is absolutely worth a stop. All the beers from both breweries were outstanding, the food cart (which was closed for two hours right during lunch time on a Saturday?) was super delicious once it opened and we were able to get food. Can't wait to go back! One of the few taprooms in our very extensive history that stands out as truly excellent. read more

There's lots of tvs if you want to watch a game. There was corn-hole setup outside. This would be a great spot for groups. read more

They are doing a good job complying with COVID stuff (clean tables, separation, etc.) My parents live in Oregon City and the food/drink scene isn't much but this is a welcome refuge! Recently made it in to this spot and tried everything they make. I'll start with the good: Very nice space: The taproom is a really nice spot. It's very thoughtfully decorated, the food cart there was quite good, and just plain a cool spot. The rest: The beers, to put it bluntly, all tasted like they were brewed by an amateur homebrewer. It's been a long time since I've experienced a brewery that was serving beer that was this poorly made. Especially in this region, the standard/baseline has been set exponentially higher than this place. I just don't see how it's going to survive if they don't figure that out. I wish I could pick out one positive from the lineup of brews, but I'm at a loss. There is almost always something on tap that a brewery seems to have gotten right, but not here. The one guest tap from Bent Shovel is what ended up filling my pint glass after I powered through the sampler tray. read more

When I went, this place was just opening. Not many people were here but the vibe was cool retro meets Portland hipster. I think it would be fun to bring a group here. A bit hard to find behind Jiffy Lube, with a small sign for a small, shared driveway. Small amount of parking; I'm wondering if they have an overflow area since the lot is shared with 4-5 other businesses. It's really to have an after hours place at the 'Top of the Hill' rather than only downtown in the real OC! read more

I will be giving this place one last try next week to see if there has been any change of heart.... last night 5/31/19 I was not only served with my first drink with an attitude but it was clear that the owner was not scared to loose out on our business. As for the lady working to food cart... great food but again her attitude was ridiculous the first time I ordered I left a very generous tip simply hoping for a smile or thank you but nothing with a clear body language attitude I walked up as she's cleaning the grill to place a 2nd order on desserts and she says see how this works when my backs turned to you I can't hear what your saying. I was honestly dumbfounded I had no clue how to respond to a tape house with good beer great food and even better music but a seriously serious case of bad attitude. read more

I really liked the vibe here! Came in on a Saturday mid-afternoon. Parking was a little hard but they had an event going so I understand that. It was hard to find a spot to sit, again, cause they had an event going. We did flight tasting and there were a few I absolutely loved. A huge variety which I appreciated as someone who doesn't tend to like IPAs, but I feel that's all anyone offers nowadays. I would definitely come here again! read more

You should put this new taphouse on your list. I tried three of the ciders tonight and each was great. Raspberry cider is a perfect balance of sweet and tart and absolutely tastes like raspberries. When you come, visit the bathroom. I know --that sounds crazy, but do it anyway. read more

Part of our Oregon City and outer SE suburban beer tour (Bent Shovel, Coin Toss, Hive/Shattered Oak). Probably the worst of the bunch, unfortunately. Came here for the beer, not the cider so can't speak about it or the food from the food cart parked inside. The space is nice, big open area in the middle with cidery, brewery, taps, and bathrooms on the outside edge. Tall benches with barstools for seating. Open and airy. Several TVs with sports on when we visited. Not much parking in the lot shared with several other businesses, and you would never know there was a taphouse here from the street driving by. Absolutely no visibility or signage to grab your eyes. Tried the Shattered Oak beers, both the roggenbier and IPA from the tanks/zwickels and the kolsch, Hoppy Otter, Roots, and Child's Play IPA from the taps and they were not very good. Fairly homebrew-level beers, and I've tasted better homebrew. Winner of the bunch was the Roots, but it should be pretty hard to screw up a 7% sweet stout which should be forgiving to brew. That said, if you like warm-fermented hefeweizens and roggenbiers with lots of banana flavor the roggenbier might work for you. read more

I tried this place finally and I've got to say I'm a fan. The service was great. I really like the atmosphere and the vibe of the place. I suggest checking out the Men's restroom (even if you're of the female persuasion), the decor was very cool. They had a Hefe and a Porter that were pretty much perfect. As for food, there is a cool food truck inside the place that does fresh food. We got pulled pork nachos and yummm was the consensus between the 4 of us. read more

Great find! Very well made beer. I have followed Shattered Oak through a couple of iterations. Enjoyed their Kolsch and really liked their Roots (on nitro) The ambiance was terrific and people forthcoming. The food cart that was housed inside had some outstanding gourmet entrees. I live next to the Hive, and as someone who is always looking to try new microbrews, I've been wanting to visit here for awhile. Well, that's no longer the case. I will *NEVER* step foot in there after the way my mother and I were treated by the bartender. We had to park in the lot that's shared by The Hive, Jiffy Lube, and the spa place so I could walk to the townhouse I live at to pick up my dog because they seal-coated the road, and we couldn't drive down there. It took us maybe five, ten minutes tops to get my dog and walk back to the car. As my mom was getting into the car, the bartender steps out from behind the bar, walks up to our car, and starts lecturing us like we were children. He was going on and on about how we weren't allowed to park there because it was only for paying customers, and that they needed as many spaces open as possible. I was trying to explain nicely to him about why we were parked there, but he wasn't listening to me. Eventually, he turned back around and walked away as I was mid-sentence. There were only three customers in there at the time, so I'm confused about why they needed so many parking spots. Clearly they weren't too busy since the bartender can spend the time policing the shared parking lot. Here's a hint: if you're "trying to make ends meet" as it was condescendingly explained to me, maybe potential customers should be treated with more respect. read more

The Hive is a great "steampunk style" pub! The owner Brandon and his staff are great! I had a great time there with my Civil War reenactor group! They invited us there to watch an episode of a TV show we were all cast in, they didn't charge us anything to be there. They had great beers, that is a complement being that I usually drink just whiskey. I had their Kolsch beer and it was awesome. They are also opening a custom food cart inside soon. I came here for the first time on November 24th. This is a fun place. Wasn't a fan of the server that night though. She wasn't very friendly and went on a smoke break and asked everyone but us if we needed anything before she went outside. A smile and some basic customer service go a long way.
