I really wanted to like this place. I really tried to like this place...but I have to be honest. Let's start with the good--the bbq vibe was strong (country music, chalkboards with drawings, bbq smell wafting thru the air). Now for the not-so-good. We usually call ahead because we have a few family members with food allergies. We called ahead and everything sounded kopacetic. We arrived and ordered our food. One member of our 6 person party ate a couple of fries (which she asked about ahead of time due to her allergies) and she noticed something different about the fries. We asked one of the workers if they put something on the fries because they were crispy on the outside. The worker said "I don't think so." We asked if he could check to be sure so he went to ask. He came back and said "it's just crispy coating." So again we asked "can you tell us what is in the crispy coating because we are trying to avoid an allergic reaction." He replied "it's just crispy coating I don't know what's in it." So we asked "is there anyway you can find out what's in the crispy coating?" He replied "there is definitely a way to find out." He goes to the back...again. When he returns he says, "we fry the fries in a fryer with our chicken tenders. I would suggest not eating the fries." His suggestion is well-taken but we still don't know what's in the 'crispy coating.' When we were ordering, one member in my group asked for the two meat plate with brisket and pork ribs. The menu says "pork ribs." The worker said "We don't have pork ribs. We have ribs." So ribs it was. Giving a little room for grace, he was a young man who seemed to be new. BUT if you are at the cash register taking orders, you really should know what's on your menu. As for the food, it was disappointing. Portions were small. For the two meat plate with brisket and sausage, I was given one piece of brisket and a small hot link. To be fair, the menu says "8 oz" for the two meat plate so you kind of know what you're getting. When the order comes out, it looks very small. The brisket was a little on the dry side. I have hit this place every month or two for several years now. Recently, however, it's been an ongoing joke to guess what will be out or broken. Last Friday they were: Out of ribs Fryer broken (no fries) Out of butter Pepsi machine broken Lady's room broken I spent $50 on a chicken and brisket place, and a burger. It took pretty much an hour to get food, and what came out was sad. Brisket was dry, and the chicken was desiccated. It was bad. My son's burger was a little burned too, but it was edible. I hope he enjoyed it, because it's the last Holy Grill we'll be getting. read more

Stopped by at this BBQ place and it was really good. The chopped brisket was incredibly moist and place smelled really good and very welcoming, and the staff was very attentive. If I'm back in the area, I'll definitely come by again. read more

This place has fantastic barbecue. I got the ribs with the collard greens and cornbread and everything was delicious. There selection of barbecue sauce is extra special too. Unlike some places there, Grim Reaper actually has some great heat. Also really liked the mustard barbecue sauce. They literally have it all. It is decorated cute, however, we stood at the counter for at least 5 minutes before getting helped, I guess there was a bell that we didn't notice. The food was OK. I had the pulled pork. My husband had the brisket he said was good however cold. The tables were dirty, the first water glass they gave us was dirty as well. I went to the front to get a few to go boxes stood there for a little bit, then stuck my head in the back to ask for the boxes the employee told me I should've rung the bell that I didn't see. When I walked in it felt like a ghost town, granted I went at lunch and it's prob more busy for dinner. But no one was there and I had to ring a bell for someone to come up front. I ordered a brisket sandwhich with au jus and it came out 7 minutes which was good. I've seen reviews about the food taking an hour ‍. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming. The sandwhich was so bland I could taste the butter on the bread, the meat was juicy and tender with the au jus, but not any flavor. Same with the au jus, just plain old stock. The fries were so bad like not even salt on them but the fry sauce was probably the best part of the whole meal, tasted like canes haha. read more

We stopped by after seeing that there were a lot of good reviews for this place. We really enjoyed the pork ribs and the pulled pork! They had a good selection of sauces; the vinegar and the mustard were our favorites. We wished the mac and cheese was cheesier. The restaurant didn't have very many customers, but it also might have been since we came around 4:00. It was unfortunate since the owner was so nice and helpful. Ok. Let's start with the service. The owner is very nice, but that is about the only positive aspect of our visit. Waited over 30 minutes for our food and the restaurant was almost empty! The fryer was broken, the soda machine was broken, the bathroom was closed for repair. Now let's talk about the food. It is NOT good. The ribs were fine. Brisket was so bland and looked and tasted like a pot roast your grandma cooked in the crockpot all day. The Turkey was inedible-so dry and so bland. The baked beans were fine. What's all the hype? First of all, they were sold out of ribs at 5 pm on a Saturday. I got the three meat plate with brisket and chicken. The Brisket was stringy and dry. The chicken looked well seasoned but lacked flavor. My wife got a sandwich and was also disappointed. We bought drinks and over half of the flavors on the fountain were out of order. Oh man, this was just horrible. I'm shocked the reviews are so good. We show up and nobody helped up for about 10 minutes. The people behind us ended up leaving. Finally we ordered. I bought a soft drink for like $3. Then realized like 75% of the drinks were "out of order" and the options weren't even ones I would have ordered. They should really tell somebody that if they order a drink. After some time another party came in, ordered and sat down. After a little bit the lady brought their food over. Once she walked away back into the kitchen they walked up and told her their order was wrong. She came over, realized it was our order, picked the food up from their table and brought it directly over to us and served it. I was SHOCKED. The only reason I took the food was because I visibly saw that they didn't touch the food. But the old waitress didn't know that! And then they jipped us a side. We got three burgers, each should have come with a side. Instead we didn't get a side for one burger, and when I said that she offered to bring another plate so we could split the fries. Very bad customer service. It was clear that they were super understaffed. The burgers were good. But the lettuce on the burger was rotten! But their coleslaw was probably the worst I've tasted. No flavor, and was just sitting in a mysterious yellow water. The restaurant is dark and has like a western vibe to it. So yeah, I would never go back. read more

Okay. At best. This is my plate. That's one order of ribs and 2 orders of brisket. As you can see one order of brisket looks amazing and it really was. The other order looks dry and flavorless and it was. Half the ribs were good and the other half were not great. How in the world does one get half the meat right and the other half wrong? This seems like an impossible feet but this is the truth. The cornbread was OK and the honey butter was not good in a little tiny plastic container with a lid on it. How to make it better : Make sure your brisket looks amazing. Seems like this is an example of if it looks great that tastes great kind of deal which normally doesn't apply to food. Probably get a new cornbread that doesn't taste so packaged/premade. Definitely get a fresh honey butter and maybe ditch the liquid syrup of whatever that is. Get some new barbecue sauces as the regular barbecue sauce is just marked "BBQ" which is strange since they all are BBQ. Maybe call that one "house" but you absolutely must get a banger house barbecue sauce. You don't have one yet. That would make the biggest difference IMHO. Teach Staff to be friendly and welcoming. I've never been so impressed by a couple! Jeannie & her husband Rob with their stories. I believe this literally helped me rewrite my storybook life! They made me feel so at home in their business and lives that I felt I needed to tell everyone in the world "over the air waves"! I never want to leave even when I take a break. After famous Dave's barbecue shut down, my family and I have been looking for a new barbecue place till we came across this one. The place looked nice though there weren't that many customers there. The staff were very nice though and we waited a while for our food. And when we had it, it was worth the wait! The ribs were very tender and fell off the bone! And the brisket was delicious and tender too. The sweet potato fries were also addicting. It's a shame not many people come to this place, but it's probably a hidden treasure since it took us awhile to find the place. When you have their bbq, you can easily tell how much care and love they put in there meats, and how very well seasoned it is that I didn't even need to add any bbq sauce. The location is clean and well cared for. The ribs weren't bad and there was plenty of seating. We weren't very happy with the brisket though. We order the full brisket meal but only received a single 7x1.5x1/2 inch slice of brisket. Even sampler plates at other restaurants will provide a couple slices of brisket. It would be nice if the menu specified that you would only receive a single slice of brisket with your full meal. read more

We read good reviews about The Holy Grill and decided to try them out. Unfortunately we were less than impressed in a few ways. Upon entering the restaurant, we went to the register and ordered our meals. The cashier was absolutely drenched in sweat that was dripping from her face and neck, down all over her clothing and arms. I was able to look past that health aspect, but couldn't look past the dirty black fingernails and neck. The blond man (a cook?) that kept popping out at the front also was acting erratic, shuffling around with big eyes opened wide. Anyways, we ordered our meals and waited a long time for it to come out. While we sat, they came out with "free bread pudding." It was tasty, like sweet eggy French toast. The timing was all wrong; we sampled it and continued to wait for our food. I ordered two sliders with sweet potato fries. The meats were both overly-salted to an extreme. The slider buns were both burned to a thick black char. The sweet potato fries were undercooked. They didn't give me my fry sauce. Since the bread was inedible, I picked off the meat and just ate some of that with a few of the fries. Took the rest home, baked the fries, and threw away the meat. :( Their only redeeming grace for my meal was initially an accidental charge, where she charged me for a soda I didn't ask for. The Coca Cola was good; the best part of my meal. :-P My husband ordered a brisket platter and a beer on tap. Overly salted meat. The chip fries he had were tasty, and possibly the highlight of our visit. Our son ordered a ph steak sandwich which was mostly peppers and the meat was once again too salty. We spent $50 for our lunch, and we collectively decided at best that the Holy Grill ranked a high two or a low three stars. We won't be back, sorry. read more

Very casual location, but pretty nicely styled regardless. I had the turkey and a salad because there were no GF bread options. The turkey was tender, but I didn't catch much flavor in it beyond the pepper-- that being said, I didn't use any of the sauces available so that's on me. Salad was fresh and the ranch was yummy. My husband got the brisket melt with sweet potato fries. Honestly I think the sweet potato fries are the best that I've ever had: crunchy and sweet, so good. He loved his sandwich, he just wished the bread was more crunchy but it was delicious. We wouldn't hesitate to return, this place is a diamond in the rough. read more

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect coming here but we were pleasantly surprised with our experience. If you have the time it's worth it to stay and dine-in rather than getting your food to-go, they have a lightly themed inside, with TVs on every wall, and some great music too. I got the Tropical Burger and I was shocked at the size of it. I had to smash it down just to be able to take a bit of it, I also got the sweet potato fries. Everything tasted great. They have a variety of sauces you can try on your meats but I warn you of the grim reaper sauce, it's as hot as it sounds so ease into it if you like some spice. The mac and cheese was good, typical Mac. My beef was the brisket, it was cold. Everything else was at a good temp but that brisket it legit killed the bowl. What a nifty little place! The employee who helped us was super fun and nice and had lots of positive things to say about everything and which items where his favorite! The wood beams and all the sayings on the walls made the inside seating pleasant, inviting, and comfortable. It is a bit small though so it's not like 100 people could all be eating there at once lol. The food was spot on! The ribs had a delicious dry rub on them and none of the meat needed any sauce! The pulled pork was so moist and full of delicious flavor. The brisket was perfect melt in your mouth texture but I do think the bark could have been a tad better. The baked beans and Mac and cheese were also tasty as well. The Texas toast was surprisingly good and just the right amount of butter. Not actual shredded cheese. No table service and request a tip at the counter. Of course everyone does nowadays but just letting people know there is no table service. I only saw 3 tables of people the entire night. I like to support local but I feel ripped off. The person who we placed our order with was nice and apologized for so many things being out.
