This was my first time coming to this Home Depot location. My expectations weren't high, but this experience was awful. I do not recommend this location for anyone. I only came here for 4 small screws. After trying to find the screws for a while, I asked someone for help. As a customer, I got passed over to a different associate, twice. The first associate didn't help much since she was busy with another customer. The second associate tried to help me, with little to no knowledge on how to help me. He was also unprofessional, asking me questions to help him help myself. I never bought screws before, so I barely know how to find it here. We walked everywhere for it, but no progress. All the associates were unprofessional, seemed very vague about knowing how to help a customer. The associates would also leave me hanging, to help other people while I still don't have the screws. This all happened for an hour. I would rather have them just say we don't have the screws.

This Home Depot is very very busy (everyone in Alexandria seems to come here, no matter what time of day or day of week) and in a crazy busy shopping center. The store associates are friendly and helpful, and the lines move fairly well especially given how crowded the parking lot always is. I always find what I need here, which is the reason for the 4 stars. The Lowe's is just too far away in South Alexandria.

If I could, I would have given minus five stars. No customer service/ floor help so ever. Wasted half hour waiting for someone helping cut the wood panel for me. Asked three times at the service desk - nothing. Asked to call for a manager - 10 minutes and I am still waiting. The store is literally empty - 1 pm on Tuesday, very few customers, running around asking each other (!!!) to help find staff. Home Depot has become a self service / self-reliance joint. Their radio announcements that their staff is available to help us nothing but a joke. I though only a DC location that was bad in this regard but apparently it is now the brand management approach - don't bother about customer service, they will buy anyway, even if they are unhappy. We need more market competition to Home D

Walked into Home Depot this morning and there were two attendants chatting. They asked if I needed help and I explained that I needed a tape or pad to stick a rug and floor together. The gentleman looked something up in the Home Depot app and said that it would be in tape or flooring. I thought he would walk me over, since it was clear I had no idea what I was looking for, but he didn't. I walked over to the tape, didn't see what I needed so then walked over to flooring. I bumped into IB, another Home Depot staff member. I explained what I needed and he walked me right over to the different rug tapes. He talked me through my needs and suggested a few different ones. We settled on one, I thanked him for his help and went to pay. As I was leaving the first guy asked if I found what I needed. I said yes( kinda no thanks to you?!). Thanks again IB, would have been lost without ya!

He then required payment on the spot via Zelle before writing out a handwritten carbon-copy receipt. Exactly 14 days later, the repair failed completely with identical symptoms, and upon inspection, the replacement belt had broken again. When the new belt snapped, it whipped around the inside of the cabinet and damaged the machine's internal wiring. I called to request a refund since their repair failed, but the manager became combative, refused the refund, and abruptly hung up the phone on me. Ultimately, I am out the $350 for a repair that didn't last 2 weeks and I had to replace my dryer entirely due to the damage. The company has not responded to communication attempts. EDIT: Company's email response went to spam. Matter is being discussed via email. EDIT 2: Management has formally declined to issue a refund for this failed service. The company maintains that their standard procedures were followed; however, they have been unable to produce any documentation of pre-work authorization or a estimate demonstrating that pricing was disclosed prior to the completion of the repair--relying only on their technicians unsubstantiated and disputed claim of verbal authorization. Because the replacement component failed within 14 days and caused significant electrical damage to the unit's wiring harness, the appliance was rendered a total loss and required complete replacement. Management has denied my refund request leaving the matter unresolved. Recommend avoiding Appliance Surgeon as I have been very dissatisfied with my experience.

I guess, mostly by habit, if I needed plants or flowers, I would drive a few more minutes up the road to the Home Depot, since I always thought HD was cheaper. I purchased my usual assortment from Home Depot of herbs (basil, cilantro, etc.) as well as a few tomato varietals in mid-March 2023, however, by late April most of the plants were dead. Granted, it was a colder than usual Spring season, but these plants should've been hearty enough to withstand a bit of frost. As I have a penchant for supporting small businesses, I decided to finally pop in the Miracle Garden Center, and departed asking myself, "what took me so long to check this place out?" Located off of busy Rt. 236 (Little River Turnpike), it is easy to miss this mom and pop business. Look for a white 1-story structure with the "Miracle Garden Center" signs affixed to the building. There are a few parking spots in front and around the side for easy access. Upon passing through the gates, I was struck by the sheer variety of vegetation ranging from indoor/outdoor flowers, mini-trees, and of course, plants for your garden. I picked up a few pepper varieties since I always love fresh chilis and got a fantastic price on some habanero, serrano, and Hungarian wax peppers. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any Thai Chili plants, but the gentleman watering the plants indicated that their supplier didn't carry it this season. I also picked up a few tomato varietals such as Roma, cherry, and a Sungold. Of note, the Italian Basil, sweet mint, and Cilantro that I purchased a few weeks ago have also flourished in my garden since I planted them in late mid-May. No knock against them, but unlike my experiences asking questions of the staff at HD about frequency of watering, recommended amount of sunlight exposure, etc, the team at Miracle Garden are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to share their their wealth of information. Now that I'm headed back into my office more often, I even picked up a snake plant for my desk, since this is a very "low maintenance" plant which is not only super easy to care for, but has numerous benefits (https://www.healthline.com/health/benefits-of-snake-plant#benefits) including air filtration and oxygenation. Chatting with the staff, I understand they also carry seasonal items such as pumpkins in the Fall and Christmas trees during the winter. Miracle Garden Center is just the type of local business I love to support and recommend to the Yelp community.
