SCAM. Sent people with no uniforms, unmarked vehicle, no tools, did not provide estimate before requesting payment and were physically intimidating (blocked the driveway so no way out). Did not even provide an invoice of services performed. They have at least 4 websites, phone numbers to the company change depending on what browser and IP address is used to access the site but person answering the phone is the same. They have no professional licenses in Maryland (use DLLR license look up), but they have a business license under Sam Khalladi in Burke, VA. When I called to ask for their license number the guy said they have two technicians who are out of the country for a month so won't be able to provide services. This is his other yelp site. Weird. Awful service, do not recommend. The washer was not draining. Their office was quick to schedule (a plus), but the team that came in did not follow the instructions from their office. They showed up without calling ahead, unprepared ( only a bag of tools, no wet vac nor means to collect the water from the washer). Did not provide an estimate for the repair prior to starting the repair, even though I asked repeatedly. One of the team got on the floor and opened the filter or pump and water gushed all over the floor. I had to get several towels and clean up and remove water. The water got under the dryer. They did not seem to be prepared and looked like they did not know what they were doing. The team lead did not put the screws back to secure the front of the machine. When I saw it flapping I told him he forgot to secure it with the screws. When they tried the washer, water gushed out of the water drain. I have been unable to test the repair because of it. From the beginning it was a nightmare! I felt very uncomfortable. I called the office ant notified them of the excruciating experience and they would not believe nor listen, and conferenced in the worker. I can not in good conscience call him a technician, the behavior was unprofessional and the skills lacking.They need to vet and train their employees how to communicate with customers. read more

I would not recommend them. They came and gave a diagnosis for the problem with my oven and told me it needed a special part, which would take a couple of weeks to arrive. That's all fine, but then I had to follow up several times to remind them and each time I called they had no idea what I was talking about. Since I had already paid the diagnostic fee I felt stuck with them. Then their technician left the job incomplete. He refused to turn on the gas stove claiming it would break the pipes. He told me that the gas company would come and turn on my gas pipes for free and this was incorrect - they only come for emergencies or for valves outdoors. I followed up and told him this and he said he would "get back to me after talking to his supervisor" - meanwhile I don't have a functioning oven. I called another repair company. When their technician came, he fixed the issue in 5 minutes. SE appliance's technician had been turning the valve the wrong way, which could have seriously damaged my pipes. Please properly train your technicians to avoid any issues like this in the future. While they compensated me for the extra cost of the other repair service, I shouldn't have had to call one in the first place. Also it wasn't freely given and they were not very apologetic. I had to ask for this through several texts and back and forth phone calls. Additionally, I asked to only pay for the part since their technician left the job incomplete. When they told me the part was close to $200, I wanted to see the actually purchase order or receipt for the part, which they refused to provide. It seemed very suspect to me and I suppose I may have overpaid. This was a very stressful experience for me, and it seems their technicians may be good at particular appliance repairs but not properly trained for all. Given that this was a gas oven repair, it is extremely irresponsible for them to send a technician who didn't even know what direction to turn the gas valves on. read more

We needed our refrigerator to get checked and set up an appointment with these folks. They gave me a window and told me they would call before arriving. I made arrangements to be available during the time window and never received a call or follow up. They never arrived. I called later and couldn't reach someone. I am rating them a 2 because their receptionist was knowledgeable and made it seem like there was hope for my refrigerator and would be honest if it wasn't worth it to repair. Stay away from this company at all costs. I called them when my fridge stopped working, and the technician they sent was inexperienced. He ended up installing a hard start relay, and in doing so, cut back some wiring that ran to the compressor. The fridge stopped working again a week later, so they sent out another technician, who was more experienced. He told me that my compressor should be covered by warranty and to call GE. When the GE tech came, he told me there was nothing he could do, bc the tech from S&E cut the wires to the compressor too short, and had compromised the integrity of the sealed system. GE won't touch it due to the work S&E has done, and I can't get any other repair company to fix it either. They have permanently damaged our fridge, and we're stuck without a working fridge. Don't use this company. Their techs are inexperienced and they will likely do more harm than good. read more

If I could give this company less than one star I would. They sent a repair man who didn't know what he was doing, "fixed it" and the fridge broke again in less than a week. They sent the same repair man again and he was on the phone with another repair man the whole time. When he left he said they had to order another part, at which point we requested another more experienced repair man. The new repair guy came out and said that we should call GE. GE came out and said that they couldn't do anything because the wires were cut too short. When we call S&E back, they were rude, told me to put my husband on the phone, impersonated my voice and refused to give me their name or an answer in writing. wow wow wow! i was so happy with the service. I found S& E on Angie's List and they were able to send someone to my house within 24 hours (and this was right before Memorial Day weekend, so it was even nicer that they worked so fast around a long holiday weekend!). I was having problems with my fridge and freezer (the freezer had stopped freezing and the fridge wasn't cold enough either). They charge $69 to diagnose and fix the problem and that goes towards the cost of any larger/ deeper repairs. Over a span of 3 weeks I tried to setup a service call for a commercial business in a shopping center, I was extremely patient. It took 3 attempts of me following up and our business repeatedly having to schedule clients to be available to meet with a technician who "couldn't find" the business. Eventually they found the business to find the appliance working again, and then tried to charge a $80 trip charge. I understood, but told the tech on the phone to service the unit regardless of it working again since it keeps breaking and he said he would, I said I would pay the service call and for that additional service/preventative maintenance. I follow up with the business and embarrassingly they state no one ever came again. I spend a day calling S & E Appliance Repair to "PATIENTLY" try again and have no calls returned or answered. Poor communication, accountability, lack of customer service. Strange considering I was so patient and looking for an appliance specialist to service a variety of businesses in the area as a long time partner. read more

S&E Appliance Repair saved our Christmas! We woke up Christmas Eve to continue our cookie baking only to find that our gas oven was broken. We called many nearby appliance repair companies with no luck (either closed or only available after the holidays), until we gave Sammy a call. He answered the phone quickly, gathered basic information of our issue, and told us he'd be able to be at our place in the next couple hours. Not even an hour later, Sammy arrived. He quickly assessed the situation, disassembled the necessary parts, fixed the problem (loose igniter cable), reassembled the parts he disassembled, quickly wrote up our receipt paperwork, and was out the door! Two weeks after moving into a new home we discovered our Whirlpool refrigerator was leaking and leaving puddles in the kitchen floor. My husband reached out to S&E appliances on a Friday night. They responded right away and said that they could send someone out the following day with a window of when they would arrive (points for the speedy response). when the technician was on his way, he texted to let us know his ETA (more points for communication). The service technician showed up wearing a mask. He respectfully maintained his distance and within 5 minutes had figured out what was going on with our whirlpool refrigerator (bonus points for safety). The technician came at the appointed time frame and with half an hour, he diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I was surprised that he even had the necessary part available in his truck. I gave them 2 stars, because they did come on the same day and did fix my two appliances. I took three away due to the cost and what I feel was an unfair second charge. The technician came and fixed my fridge (no water supply to ice maker and water button). No new parts were needed and he worked on it for about 40 minutes. The cost was $498. He forgot about the garbage disposal, and I didn't remind him because I was just going to wait and have my regular plumber look at the disposal. However, the tech remembered after he went to his car and called and asked if he should come back in. I said sure, just wanting to get the work done and over with. This is where my real problem comes in. He was at the sink for just UNDER 10 minutes, and go the disposal working again. No new parts, no going under the sink, etc. He then asked for another $199. Again, he was already there, it was less than 10 minutes, and there were no parts replaced. (Oddly, he found a screw down there. The same screws that hold the back panel on the fridge on.). I paid it, but thought about it all night and called back the next day. I was told that they do not charge by the hour, but by the job, and my "disposal was fixed, wasn't it?" I tried to ask whether they really thought that almost $700 ($697 to be exact) wasn't a little over the top for less than one hour's work, and his answer was no. I feel very ripped off. read more

Greetings, On 20APR20, the S&E repairman (Mohammad) repaired a water inlet valve on my GE dishwasher. Cost was $250 to replace and install the part. Seemed a bit high, but who knew. Unfortunately, when he finished and I tried to do a wash two days later - there was a leak and a heating problem - which were not problems I had previously. I called and spoke with them, and they said that's a different problem and they'd have to come out to assess. I mentioned that it was working fine with the exception of not filling the dishwasher tub, but they disagreed. I said okay, and decided to write a review and go buy a new dishwasher. Recommend if your dishwasher is over 5-7 years old and you have a problem, then go buy a new one. If less than 5 years old, find someone else to do your repair. read more

My fridge stopped working on a Sunday. Sammy responded to my request right away and was able to check out the fridge Monday evening. He diagnosed the problem and came back early next morning to fix it. The entire experience was absolutely fantastic. Using Yelp, I sent a request on a Sunday and Sammy responded within five minutes. My dryer had shorted out and a wire needed to be replaced. He agreed to come by to take a look on Tuesday. Thirty minutes before our agreed upon time, he called to confirm that he was on the way. Fast forward one hour and $89 later ($60 for the diagnostic), and my dryer is up and doing its job again. The person who took my call was able to diagnose what he thought was the problem over the phone and the repair person quickly assessed it was the same problem. The repair person fixed the issue and put the machine back together in 10 minutes. It was all labor, no parts. The kicker is he told me the cost was $225! Yes, $225 for 10 minutes of work. I am willing to pay a fair price, but that price was not fair. Typical repair companies charge a flat service fee and X dollars for the second half hour and Y dollars for ever additional hour. Nope, not this place. I called the office and they quickly reduced the price. After posting this review, the general manager quickly called in an aggressive manner asking 'why I posted this review? Part good, part bad. This review is for a situation that happened a couple of months ago. We called them because our fridge broke. They made the appointment quickly, came on time and did a quick assessment. However, they said the fridge would likely need replacing. They were pretty insistent. I got a second opinion from another guy who came out and replaced the freon and the compresser, and said the Fridge should be ok for another 5-8 years. Pretty big difference. Points for value, timeliness and professionalism. But I'm taking away one star because it felt like they didn't even consider a fix, they just wanted us to get a new one. read more

I hired S&E off the internet to come and check my stove for lighting issues and my stove's proper heating issues. . I agreed to the $69 service fee. The "repairman" had no thermostat to check my oven's proper temperature, parts or tools of any kind. He said I'd need an igniter kit and a new thermostat kit and would call me to let me know the price. That was two months ago and he won't call me back. We did not have a very good experience with S&E appliances. They came out to look at our washing machine. They cleaned up some filters and charged 210 dollars. When it didn't fix the issue, they came back and cleaned some additional filters. He said if it didn't work they would come back and take a look at the motor. When I called again, they basically told me to call the manufacturer and didn't come out again. The technician was working on the washing machine for a total of 45 minutes for those two trips. They came to repair our dishwasher which had E-16 error code. Charged us $70 for a visit and had to order a part. After ten days not hearing from them we called them and they came with the part and told us it will take no more than 30 min to replace the part. They replaced the part but dishwasher still didn't work. They spent more than two hours to figure out what was going on and told us they have to give up and come back to do more diagnostics. After they left we took a closer look and found out they put a screw which secure dishwasher between the kitchen cabinets in the wrong place and partially damaged the cabinet. At this point we decided to call someone else. I would strongly not recommend this company! read more

I called for service after 8pm one evening when our dryer stopped working. I was told that an appointment could be set for the next day with a time window provided. The next day we were called when the service person was 30 minuets away. When Sam arrived he was courteous and professional. Answered all my questions with patience and let me know everything they would do and check and get done. Gave me an estimate in advance after letting them know what I thought it was, and then when the solution was different they kept the price the same since the level of effort was comparable. The price was very fair and competitive, and well worth it. Even after they solved the problem (it was a dryer issue), they still checked a couple other parts and vents to make sure that everything was in good shape so there wouldn't be an issue with those (hopefully) later. I had an issue with starting my front load washer, which was attached to and stacked under a front load dryer, all embedded in a tight closet space. Typical apartment scenario right? So I couldn't get my washer to work, nor could I get the manufacturer (LG) to get someone out to repair at a reasonable fee. LG was going to charge a base of $125 just to send someone out to diagnose, but they said I'd have to ensure the machines were detached and removed so they could access it. That sounds like a double service order to me. And who knows what it would've cost additionally on top of that. Anyway, I reached out to S&E and luckily they were able to come out the same day. Since I told them it would have to be physically removed and detached, they managed to pull two guys to come over later in the day to do so. The fix ended up being simple and making me feel like a goober, but I wouldn't have known if they hadn't come over to take a look on the fly. I really was only charged for their time to come out, which was more than reasonable since they had two guys come out on the same day and do the heavy lifting (literally) to try to diagnose my washer and get it working. I plan to use them again in the future if I have any further appliance issues. read more

They answered the phone right away and gave me an estimate and availability. They also showed up fast and fixed our washing machine pump, which was great. But they showed up at our house asking for 75 more dollars than yesterday's estimate "because the washer has a drawer" (8 philips screws of inconvenience) and then an extra "tax" of 15 dollars (on a service call). I argued with them and they came back down to their original estimate plus the "tax". Bottom line is they will fix your problem, but may try to pull an extra $90-100 from you at the last minute. read more

Contacted S&E Appliance Repair because my Kenmore washing machine had an error code saying F02. When I looked it up, I saw it had something to do with the pump not working. Water was all over the floor and it was a pain to clean up. Will have to buy new towels now. Towels are an easy fix, but now I have to wait till tomorrow to get a new washing machine. Sam tried to fix the problem but it turned out to be the motherboard that has fried. I was informed that the price for a new motherboard is more expensive than buying a new washer. I will look into getting the same model if I can. The search continues today and I will pick up a new washing machine Thursday or Friday. S&E Appliance repair is was able to help even if they could not fix the problem today. I will be sure to call the again. read more

Technician came to repair refrigerator ice maker/water valve. Water no longer leaked but ice maker didn't make ice. Technician came back 2 days later for another couple of hours, we got ice. Fridge started making a rattling sound after dispensing water a day later. I left 2 messages with no call back, finally had the phone answered on the 3rd try (from a different number, don't know if that's a coincidence). Guy who answered told me he'd check on technician availability and call me back. After a week I sent an email requesting a partial refund as I wanted to use another service and I got a nearly immediate reply that the technician was out of town and they would send someone else. No thank you, as that should have been offered a week ago. I reiterated my request for a partial refund and received no response. Would not use again or recommend. read more
