The Home Depot Corporate offices have made the decision not to offer military discounts on any building supplies. When we lodged a complaint with the corporate offices we were told they, "We do respect those that have served ... active military or veteran ... but we no longer allow discounts on any building supplies." Since their primary business is a building supply store, what good does it do to even offer one at all?! My comment in reply to their statement was, "Actions speak louder than words. I was at the store tonight to get a smaller freezer. I couldn't find anyone to help me and went up front and they called twice. Finally a polite guy named Jeff came and helped me. he grabbed a lift and got the freezer and brought it for me to the front. He also brought it out to my car and lifted it into my suv. He also advised me to not plug in or change setting for 24 hours. very helpful and polite and wanted him to get praise! read more

This Home Depot location in Amsterdam was nothing to brag about, it looked similar to the one in Queensbury (not as aesthetically pleasing as the Home Depots back west), but it had most of the same items. The staff seemed a little bit rough around the edges, but at the end of the day they returned the wrong sized solar lights... and we had the works insure/double check to make sure that we had the correct sized lights this time around before making the purchase and driving off. Initially, the gentleman who worked in the department of the lights told us that he only had two lights, which would have left us one short.... but when we were checking out we asked them if they could check their computer inventory to see if they had anymore... sure enough they did. We were happy that we saved ourselves another Home Deport trip by having them search inventory to see if they had another light.... we were grateful to the staff members who were able to located the third light, which is why this store will earn a two start rating rather than a one star rating. The solar powered post lights were installed successfully - they fit and they work :) YAY! read more

Needed to return items from an online order. Traveled 45 minutes to the store, loaded the heavy items on a cart and was laughed at at the front desk while the associates did nothing to help and said that their "system" is down and will be down for hours. Paid the deposit for the measurement and the guy was late. Then he measured and left without asking questions or answering any. Then the install was scheduled. That part was easy and pleasant. But then I never heard from HD about delivery so I called them. An hour later they scheduled for the day before install. Got a dumpster. Scheduled the other projects with my contractor that had to be done after install of floors. Day of delivery i had to take aim unpaid sick day to be home for delivery. Never came! Three hours and 2 phone calls later they never put my order on the truck. More calls. More frustrating conversations. I had to postpone the other jobs and demand a full refund from HD. I have never been so frustrated and disappointed by a professional business before. I will NEVER go to HD or recommend them for anyone. Or anything. EVER. read more

This is for all customers and contractors that have credit cards with Home Depot. Buyers beware I had a clean credit card nothing on it then went to the flooring Department to purchase flooring, put a down payment to have people come out and measure. Things didn't work out so I went back to the store to get my money back. Lo and behold I had a manager in the store do it and they refunded most of it to my credit card which was a Home Depot credit card except for the amount of $1.8 which they tried to say I took back in cash LOL has anyone else ever got cash from their Home Depot card! I've contacted corporate office on their Shady dealings in that store. Be sure to always check your statements and save your receipts on everything I do think there's a lot of thieving going on at the customer's expense. I know a dollar eight is not a lot of money it's just the principle of this and I am not going to let it go I am sick and tired of being ripped off by these big box stores and if you think about how many people walk through their door each and every day and if they bring something back how much are they truly getting back on their card and how much is somebody actually pocketing in theirs keep your receipts for your own good and check them against your statements. Placed online order, offered assembly for store pickup same day. Received an email stating item was assembled and ready for pickup. Then received a call stating not assembled and would not be assembled for another 3 days or so. False advertising online, email for the order to show that the store assembled it and ready for pickup, which in fact was also false. Home Depo does not stand by what they claim! Order cancelled and purchased from Lowes with no issues. read more

The staff here has always been super helpful, and go out of their way to make themselves available to any customers they see. I also like their store layout; everything is easy to get to and find. Their employees are all extremely friendly, too. As a note to contractors and professionals, their Pro services (such as their volume discounts) are nice, but they seem to be inferior to the Lowes down the street. Their policy is to match competitor prices, but when I asked them to do that, they gave me an attitude about it, and I had a lot of difficulty getting everything I needed together to make an order through them. It took me a lot of negotiating to get any of the discounts above 10% for a volume order... even though I can just use a 10% off coupon instead, without the trouble of going through the bid room. It's not a huge problem. I still shop there casually from time to time... but as a professional, my large orders go through Lowes. I still like their store layout and customer service better, though. read more

Ordered a log splitter from Home Depot in Amsterdam. It was supposed to be available on or around September 25th. We asked if we would have flexibility to schedule delivery given that we would be away for two weeks. Suuuureee we were told. Well the log splitter came in early (today) and if we don't take delivery on the day that the horrible delivery company - Estes Express - gave us (they only deliver on Fridays - so a week out) then we have to pay $20 a day storage and they couldn't guarantee that the log splitter wouldn't be damaged. Lowes will be the only company seeing my business going forward. Purchasing from Home Depot was a huge mistake. read more

I have a camp in the Adirondacks. It is difficult to find independent contractors that will travel there; I needed to replace the flooring in the house, so I decided to try Home Depot in Amsterdam which is a 45 minute drive. I visited the store to view wood flooring samples and made a selection. My order was made over the phone. Home Depot uses an outside company for the installation process. After I made my wood selection, they set up an appointment for someone to come out and measure the rooms. This is required so that they know how much to order, and so that they can anticipate if there are any problems with the site beforehand. I needed new flooring in three bedrooms, a hallway and family room. The guy who measured was seemingly thorough and was there for 2 1/2 hours. (Even measuring closets). Before he left,he told me that the floor underneath was in good shape, flat, no damage, and the installation should go smoothly. The store gave me an installation date - they said it would take three days. The team of three installers should up on time and got to work. (BTW, when they arrived they told me the install would be 2 days.) The first day was uneventful, thought their nail gun died around lunch time. They had to drive 45 min to Home Depot for a new one. On the second day, things got "interesting". Late morning, the lead installer told me that they were finding quite a few planks with problems: inconsistent coloring, poor finish, strange random marks, etc. He didn't think he would have enough wood to finish the job and said they would just order more. This was a problem, as I had some travel coming up, and the wood needs to be "acclimated" to the space for several days prior to the install. I had other work planned after that, so that would be held up too. We agreed tonopen all of the boxes and examine all of the wood to see how much was defective. (BTW, this was solid Oak flooring by Bruce.). Let's just say that Bruce has a quality control problem. Some of the boxes had as little as 20% acceptable planks. Others were 75% OK. We went through every box and separated out the "good" planks. They got back to work. An hour later, the lead was back: they had finished the master bedroom and were continuing into the hallway. The planks must be aligned - you don't put the flooring in haphazardly. New problem - there was no "Stair Nose", a transition for the top of the stairs. That is a piece that is part flat and part curved and fits over the top step, so that the first step is completely level. If you don't have a stair nose, you can't continue on beyond the stairs. We called the installer's supervisor. He got on the phone with Home Depot. Guess what? Home Depot doesn't have ANY stair nose material in the store. They suggested that we could try going to Lowes. Or another flooring store. Or we could wait a week and have a stair nose sent to me, and then the installers could come back several weeks after that. Meaning that the house would be "under construction" for several weeks, as we waited to get new materials and a new install date. After arguing with the Amsterdam store guy, and having a long talk with the Installer, they realized that they had some hardwood Stair Nose material in their warehouse in Albany, 2 hours away. What about the defective wood? I said that I could not wait several more weeks to finish this job and so they would need to install the wood that was in the house, even if some of it was not up to snuff. So, they did as much as they could and then had to leave. Nothing left to do. They would be back on day three. Day three, they come back, with some very nice Stair Nose. Not a perfect match, but pretty close and it looks good. They get back to work. Mid afternoon, the Lead is back. Another problem: no transitions for the doorways. Basically, you need a little strip of wood to go over the "transition" between the room and the hallway. They can install all of the flooring, but they won't be able to finish the job after all. We'll have to wait for Home Depot to ship transitions. It turns out that when the installers looked at the order, the Estimator never ordered transitions or stair noses. We didn't get them because he forgot to order them. I have stopped payment on my credit card, and I have called home depot - they refer you to the person in the store, which in this case is the guy that told me to try Lowes. Solid hardwood flooring is expensive and Home Depot's lack of quality control and oversight is really pathetic. The guys left. And I have quite a few long boxes of defective wood laying around the house. What am I supposed to do with them? Beware. I thought this would be a streamlined way to deal with a thorny problem. i wish that i could of put 0 stars as this is a terrible company to do business with. i purchased a stainless steel range and refrigerator, from this store on october 1, 2019 and i would like to take this oppotunity to warn any consumer planning to purchase any appliances from this store. do not do it, they have a no return policy, yes its true, no return policy. their appliances are substandard, scraps all over top and top of doors of refrigerator and ticking / buzzing which has to this day not been fixed. i decided 1 week after purchasing that i did not want to go through fighting with this company and i wanted to return the appliances. but to my surprise "a no return policy". what the hell does that mean? worst customer service. i have ever come across. they will not be getting my business ever again. i'm stuck with broken, scrapped up substandard appliances. please do yourself a favor and go somehwere else read more

this store sucks donkey dicks!!! i purchased a graco paint sprayer and two days after i purchased i try it and it won't prime paint. so i take it back for a refund and they say cause there is paint on it they can't take it back. now how stupid can you be. it is made to use with 5 gallons paint pails and to make it work or try it you have to put it in the paint. i cleaned it up as best as i could called the store to return and said bring it in. well i did. and that where the war started. because there was some paint on the unit which seems like anyone whom has painted once you open a can paint and there is paint on stuff. after two hours of arguing at store and on line chat they offered to give me a gift card which i had even said i would accept they fail to give me the gift card. oh the manager is on lunch and can't be disturbed. oh my oh my. don't disturb my lunch for 5 minutes and damn manager weighs a whopping 350 lbs. so i have to say never ever shop t home depot again. as i was in the return line people where returning garden hose and gardening tolls that didn't work. come on a hose how bad can their products be!!! and don't use home depot credit because than you still have to pay for a product that does not work and than they laugh at you as your leaving the store. some customer service policy. so good bad to bad rubbish and never shop home depot as long as you live and myself. peace and out. read more
