Was a little challenging just because that visit requires a refundable deposit and I was trying to compare prices with competitors. But Evan was a great listener and suggested a different product than I initially thought I wanted, understanding the style and function goals I explained. I am so happy with the end result. The installation team were not vaccinated, but graciously put on masks after I asked, since we have unvaccinated kids in our house. Very positive experience overall. read more

Had to call service because I couldn't get my gas fireplace to turn on. Had it installed in spring, so really hadn't used it. I'm a little nervous with gas and electrical stuff, so Vic was so patient to explain to me that the unit had shut off due probably from not being in use, air in the line, power outage, or some other normal reason. He stepped me through resetting it and was so kind and patient. In 18 minutes I was looking at my nice cozy fireplace, working perfectly, and armed with the knowledge going forward of what to do! We highly recommend Best Fire for your gas fire place inserts. We have a very old cottage and wanted to place a gas insert in our fire place to add warmth and reduce wood burning. The sales team was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional . Once we decided on the right unit for the size of our home, they told us the approximate date for delivery and installation. The insert arrived on time and they scheduled an installation date. The installation was very complex and challenging. However the installation team (Owen and Sal) made it look easy. We were taken back how easy they made it, more importantly, they did it "exactly" as they said they would do it. Our last set of deck furniture lasted about 20 years. Needless to say, we prefer to buy quality. Best Fire Hearth & Patio offers a large selection of high quality outdoor furniture in one location. After browsing and sitting in various manufacture's products we decided upon a product built locally by Telescope. At this point, the salesman who was assisting us (Tim Fleming), and not hovering over us while we browsed and tried out different chairs, sat with us to help us select furniture color and fabric. He was very helpful throughout the entire transaction. He knew his store's products very well, including available fabrics. Because of his knowledge, we also discussed with him a second project we were considering which included the repainting and reupholstering of some existing chairs. He was equally helpful in indentifying the style of our chairs and assisting us with a quote for this project. While no decision has yet been made on this second project, our Telescope furniture has been delivered within the projected 3 weeks. Finally, Best Fire inspected the Telescope furniture before delivery and noticed a small imperfection in one of the chairs. Upon delivery the imperfection was pointed out to us and we were informed that a warranty claim had already been submitted by Best Fire on our behalf. The replacement chair should be delivered in about 3 weeks at which time they will take back the damaged chair. This is the kind of service and attention to detail that you look for in a company. There is no doubt that we will consider Best Fire for our future business needs. read more

We have a see through fireplace with an opening in the kitchen and then with an opening in the living room. These fireplace configurations were fairly common in the 70's. They had relentless issues with chimney drafts and smoke in the house. The only way to correct this is to place an airtight door on one side of the fireplace and a company called Stoll is one of the better custom manufacturers. We went to Best Fire Hearth and Patio and spoke to Jason, we then decided on a door together and he highly recommended that they send a tech out to measure and then install it if we wanted it to be guaranteed to work. Gave him our address and he said he could squeeze us into the $500.00 circle of service ($250 measure and $250 install). Furthermore, if we decided to do two doors the fee would stay at $500. The quote for the single door came in at $2,938.89 for a single door installed. Then the tech (previous owner) came out and said we should really do two doors as he would give us a great deal. He thought he had leftover parts to make us one of the doors but he did not so his quote for two doors was $4790. What he did not mention in the quote was that was now a 983.06 ($200 measure and $783 install) charge for labor buried in the total and an additional freight charge not mentioned in the first quote. We said no, we want to only do the single door as originally quoted, Jason said "nope, the charge for a single door is now just north of $3,300 as your out of the $500.00 circle. I contacted Stoll, they sent me to Czar in Westfield, their owner came out and measured it, and not only did she have a longer trip to us than Best Fire and Hearth, her fee to measure was complimentary. They offered installation for 150.00 so we are looking at $150 vs $983 for labor. Long and short is we now have Two Stoll doors identical to the ones that we were quoted at BFH & P for over $2000.00 less. Czar had no hidden lines in the quote, no crazy fees to measure and install, and saves us enough money to go to key west for a three day weekend. Czar had no idea of the issues we had with this Best Fireplace. I highly recommend Czar Energy in Westfield Mass. read more

A few years ago my wife asked to use the grill and I said no. I was tired and did not feel like going outside to grill. She corrected me and let me know she knew I was tired, she wanted to do the grilling. The grill has always been my zone, she leaves it alone and I leave the vacuum cleaner alone. She would not let up, and eventually I said fine. Twenty minutes later she came to me and said the grill was on fire. I told her it was a good thing, that's how the food gets hot and the cooking takes place. Once again she corrected my misunderstanding... she somehow managed to set the actual grill on fire. Flames were everywhere, the handles melted, and the grill was toast. Oh, yeah, this was two weeks before what has become our annual BBQ weekend and we were expecting 30-40 guests. I knew what grill I wanted, and just needed to get it. I shopped around and found it at Best Fire. While other places were less expensive there were issues with available stock and delivery time. I wanted the grill and I wanted it now. They delivered and set up without any hassles. This year I noticed a crack on the grill. I checked with Weber and there is a 25 year warrantee on the piece and they had a replacement on the way the next day. I did not want to take everything apart myself so I checked with Best Fire. I arranged for the grill to be picked up and serviced. While deciding on price I mentioned I was already planning on having the grill through a cleaning/tuning at the end of the summer. They agreed to do the repair for me under the same price. They said it could take up to a couple weeks after they picked it up to get it back. Instead, they called me the next morning to let me know the service was done and they could return the grill. I mentioned I was busy at work and couldn't get back to the house, I was told as long as my dogs are inside they know where to set it up and they would leave an invoice in my mailbox. In all honesty, the only hassle I had with Best Fire was they did not leave an invoice. I did not want to forget, so after one did not arrive in the mail the next day I just went into the local office in Albany and paid them. Best Fire is not the most inexpensive place you'll find. While you will pay a premium for everything, they offer premium service and really only carry premium products. You are not going to have to sift through a bunch of no-name grills when you know you want a Weber. If you want cheap you can go to a big box store. The service is really second to none, I have been very satisfied with everything they have to offer. read more

Scheduled a cleaning for a fireplace insert that had not been used since 2006. They called 3 weeks before the scheduled appt to say they had an opening - yes sir, I was glad to get in before winter at all. Upon inspection, it was clear that water/rust damage had occurred over the last 12 years of non-use. Tim & Kevin took parts back to the shop and returned with some new parts and the original rehabbed parts in an hour and a half. 45 minutes later, I have a basically brand new insert working perfectly. Tim & Kevin were total professionals who adapted to the sudden rebuild situation and executed flawlessly. The Man says "Cheap work ain't good, and Good work ain't cheap" I will always pay the premium for people that know what the hell they are doing. Bravo guys, and thank you. read more

It turns out that gas inserts are not only pricey but somewhat complicated devices. We had recently purchased the house and wanted to upgrade two of the three dysfunctional wood-burning fireplaces into gas, so we pinged Best Fire after being somewhat unimpressed with Amanda's (we are in K'hook). The sales specialist George immediately got back to us after we filled out a contact form on their website (which is rare), and after a visit, a phone followup, came out to the house to prepare an estimate. We commissioned the wrk, made a deposit, and several weeks after the order, the hardware arrived and a team of three people came out equipped with a test tank, since we did not yet have LP on the property. Long story and a hefty check later, the LP did get installed, and we had a chance to turn up the installed inserts (both of which had passed the test at install time). Neither machine worked properly. I called and a tech visit was scheduled for 5 days after the call (this was not the dead of winter so that as fine). Matt, one of the original techs, came out, and did not leave the premises until both machines were working properly, and we were schooled on how to employ the remotes. Matt even left a handwritten note thanking us for choosing Best Fire. Takeaway is that Best Fire stands by their work, and is committed to delivering customer satisfaction for what is a sophisticated product. read more

Very disappointed in their sales department. Ordered on April 15, was told 6-8 weeks, it's July 26th and it's still not in. For the last 3 weeks we've been told it would be in "next week". Finally today we're told it'll be in today, but they forgot we paid for assembly, so again we're told "early next week". If we don't call and question, they don't even inform us on the delays. They seem rather uninterested in keeping our business. We're spending thousands and they could care less about fulfilling their end of the deal. read more

It would seem that when you are willing to buy the new stove from Best fire they are very helpful, but when you are; for example, looking for the best way to safely vent a stove purchased second hand they won't even talk to you unless you have a manual. My stove was made in Troy more than 100 years ago, I have no manual. I did however spend more than $2k to get my stove back to its original state and would have been more than willing to let Best fire install the venting for what it costs to get it right. Someone else gets that $ until these people realize small sales build a reputation. read more
