We stepped into this Home Depot today to find wood to make a projector mount. When we entered, it didn't seem like a very inviting store and it was almost impossible to find an employee to get help from. We understand the store seemed low-staffed and we were patient, but it made the experience difficult. We finally found an employee to help but she was slightly rude and sent us to an aisle that didn't have anything to do with what we were looking for. Again, we understand being low-staffed can be out of the control of the store. However, the employees we did find were very unhelpful. When we found another employee, he said he wasn't trained for the aisle we were looking for. Four employees later, we finally found someone who was willing to help. However, at this point we had been there for awhile and figured it would be easier to go home and get what we needed from Amazon. Therefore, we wouldn't recommend this Home Depot if you are going to need any assistance finding what you're looking for.

They are all suppose to be 5x10 smh ‍

Stay away from this Home Depot at all costs. They are severely understaffed, and could care less about their customers.

Went to the Bell Road Home Depot at perhaps one of the busiest times of the day and got the few items we'd come for, including a new kitchen faucet.

And it was doubly exciting because I very rarely ever shop at a nursery or go in search of one. This was one for the ages. It may not be the first place that comes to mind when holiday shopping but I had the idea of gifting a series of flowers that align with birth months, anniversaries and special memories as gifts. Think of it as 'art' that lives in your yard. But that's about all I had figured out. Luckily, the folks at Bates took care of the rest. First things first, the place is large. It's not overwhelmingly so (so, not Opryland) but it's big enough that if you don't know what you're doing or what you're looking for, you're going to be the Sims character who just spins. Not being shy about my lack of clues, I walked up to the desk and said what I was trying to do/buy and I didn't know what else to do after that. After being complimented about my thoughtfulness, I was tag-teamed: I was given directions to find a specific person to talk to about flowers and another about shrubbery. Given that you will actually be walking through distinct areas/zones, I was given landmarks to note. I appreciated all of this. I was a fish out of water and every instruction was a sign of kindness. I found my first contact (who had been given a heads up by walkie talkie) and she was awesome. She was so awesome that I just went all in with flowers and forgot the shrubs. She explained zones, planting times, soil, perennials vs annuals, etc. I took notes (seriously). And then she started walking me through the selection. Bates.Has.Everything. They do. Don't ask. Just trust. And a side effect of having everything is fair pricing. They have everything and they have a lot of it so you aren't on the hook to spend a lot due to scarcity. I left the nursery with a bit of an education, plants that mean something to the recipients and continue to adorn yards, money in my pocket for other gifts, and a good feeling from shopping local and supporting a business that's been around for almost 100 years. There are so many cool businesses to discover on Yelp outside of food and drink. Dig in, explore and patronize what makes your metro unique.

By the time I finally knew I wanted Orangeola maples, they were sold out everywhere. So today I went to Hewitt's with one mission, to find two Orangeola maples, ideally in 6-gallon buckets. Alan was introduced to me as the tree expert, and he absolutely lived up to the title. I explained what I was looking for, and he immediately walked me over to the first two 6-gallon Orangeola dwarf maples they had just received. We spent maybe ten minutes with the trees, and they were exactly what I wanted. I also told Alan that I had uprooted all my plants last year to redesign my landscape and showed him photos of my front yard. I explained that I wanted more color instead of the usual deep green evergreens and boxwoods. Without hesitation, he walked me over to a beautiful little shrub that changes through five different colors. He was fantastic........knowledgeable, friendly, and quick. Overall, it was not only a great experience but a fast one. I left with exactly what I came for and more.

Growing up, you knew it wasn't fall until you were in the apple orchard picking apples. I lived in…read moreNorthern NJ and every year the thing I looked forward to the most was going apple picking with my family. When I was old enough to get a job, I went to work at the same apple orchard we picked at every year. Apple picking is in my blood. Now that I am a mother it is important to me that my children have the same wonderful memories and traditions. Two years ago my husband and I brought them to Pratt's to pick apples and were so delighted! We picked two bags of juicy, crisp apples for around $1/pound. Very handy! They also offer pre-picked apples at a higher price in case you aren't able to, or don't want to, pick your own. They have many wagons that you can take with you throughout the orchard to carry children and baskets of apples. If memory serves me correctly I believe they offer Crispin/Mutsu (my favorite and a hard to find variety), Golden Delicious, Gala, Winesap and Arkansas Reds. They also offer peaches in the summer though we have never been there in time for those. Call or check their Facebook page for current hours and availability. The apple picking season in Middle Tennessee is about a month earlier than it is for NY/NJ so you will need to be aware of this and keep checking for when they say the apples are ready. They are located conveniently to the highway and it is a pleasant drive through the country to get there. We do not mind the drive from West Nashville at all. It is easy to find using conventional directions or a GPS and there is a happy little apple sign at the end of the driveway to mark where to turn. The orchard is much smaller than any other orchard I have ever been to, but for their size they have a nice variety. I think that this is actually a benefit for families with small children because you do not have to walk as far to get a good variety of apples. The terrain of the orchard can be hilly and bumpy in places. The grass can be tall and it can be muddy. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt are absolutely wonderful people. They are sweet and kind. The first year we picked there Mr. Pratt showed us a beautiful flowering vine that he grew next to the porch of the orchard store. They just seem like the kind of people that you would love to pull up a rocking chair with and listen to their life story. This is important to our family because almost all of the reviews for other orchards around Nashville mention that the orchard owners are grumpy and sometimes do not even allow children into the orchard. This is not true for Pratt's. If you want to make apple picking a favorite family tradition, you must make sure to find an orchard where your children are welcome. That being said, please remember that if you are bringing your children to a pick-your-own orchard or farm that you take the time to teach them proper picking procedures so they do not damage the plants or trees. Also respect any directions the farmer/owner gives you. If you had an orchard that provided a needed source of income for your family think of how you would want your customers to behave while picking and conduct yourself accordingly. When we visited again this year to pick apples we found that some of the varieties had been picked out early because people did not follow directions and picked apples before they were ready. I spoke to Mr. and Mrs. Pratt about this and they said that this is common every year.
