The garden center is definitely understaffed here. They don't have enough garden associates to assist customers. I needed help in the plant food aisle and no one ever came after being paged. A bunch of other customers were also waiting for help. I didn't see any garden associates on the floor except for the cashiers who weren't able to assist. I wanted a free couch from Craigslist Free but didn't want to pay a lot to pick it up-a friend recommended the $20 for the first hour and 15 min truck rental from Home Depot, and it ruled! The guys were super nice, and even thought it did take a sec to do all the paperwork like deposit, proof of ins, etc, the guy was so cool, he made it interesting-an OG Austinite and music lover he talked about music when we brought it up like seeing Deep Purple and cool bands that he liked or that we had in common. The best part is, I got a cute mod sectional couch that's super unique in color and style with nothing wrong with it for freeee!! It took a little longer than an hour and 15, bc the initial couch nearby wouldn't fit through the door, but they were cool about not ripping us off to keep the truck out to pick up my awesome blue couch and I got out of there only paying $55 even though we had the truck out for a few hours (to pick up the couch from out past Hippy Hollow/Oasis Lakeside!) This location is pretty much your garden variety Home Depot, a bit smaller perhaps with its in-city location as opposed to the expansive stores in the outlying areas. Nevertheless, they seem to always have items I need in stock. As I don't live close by, I make use of the online ordering with in-store pickup service. Staff is good at getting my order picked and ready for me in short order. Parking and access isn't the best here but overall a decent place to shop for your hardware and lumber needs. read more

Ok I've been going here for a couple years because it's so conveniently located. I garden and sell plants on Etsy so I get a lot of planting supplies from here. The garden center has always smelled a little funky... it smells like some combination of something dead and piss. I had only gone during the daytime so I had no idea what this smell was ... well tonight I discovered why. Rats!! All over the effing place. I walked in and one skittered across the floor in front of me. Ok, no big deal. I turn the corner. There were 3-4 more hiding behind a stack of trellises. More annoyances: (a) The curbside pickup app is broken in so many different ways it's comical. They clearly didn't even bother to test it before they released it. Whoever developed it, and whoever approved it, ought to be fired. (b) They don't deign to tell you their holiday hours on their website (at least not anywhere that's easy to find). Since I couldn't find it on the website, I Googled it, and a third-party site said they were open regular hours on Christmas Eve (which I later learned wasn't correct). But when I went to the store and did the curbside checkin, for 3 different orders, the app happily let me check in and told me my order would be out in a few minutes, EVEN THOUGH THE STORE HAD CLOSED 35 MINUTES EARLIER. This home depot is the closest to my new home and my husband and I have came here quite a bit. The home depot is on the smaller side compared to the other ones within Austin. The store doesn't have everything that you need. For example, there are not Trager grills but there are Trager pellets. Boo! My husband and I had to go to another location to purchase our new grill. This Home Depot is packed, particularly during quarantine. It's for good reason, though - this is as good a time as any to do all the home improvement projects you've been putting off. They've been doing a fair job maintaining social distancing and laying out their store to minimize contact. On the weekend there can be a line to get inside but it moves quickly. This Home Depot has all the things you'd expect from a hardware store, and friendly, helpful staff to match. While I've used this location for quite a lot of stuff, I have not been back since my last visit. I had one really bad experience here when I tried to use the self-service key machine. There are clearly two machines and the one on the right says "For Employee Use Only." So of course I used the key machine on the left. Here's what happened next: An employee comes up and says, "are you good, man?" to which I replied "yeah, thanks!" "Okay, I just wanted you to have the best service possible," he added as he walked away. I continued making my key. Suddenly, a GM walks over and sharply yells at me to quit touching the machine. I stood there, dumbfounded, as he says exactly the same thing the other employee did, "I just want you to have the best service possible." Then he got tense and wouldn't look me in the eyes as he explained how I fucked up my first key in the self-service machine. When I tried to cancel the transaction on the customer-friendly machine, he put his hand toward the back and turned the machine completely off. I felt awful. He continued talking about how HE does all of the keys in the store because people LIKE ME mess up the keys. But okay, thanks for the best service possible. read more
